EN Honestly, for a moment I feared this would become the first Dragon Ball volume to which I wouldn’t give 5 stars. The reason is that, in the first part of the manga, it felt like I wasn’t reading Dragon Ball at all, but something entirely different. Fortunately, that changed in the second half, which ended up balancing the experience.
Granolah has now become the most powerful warrior in the Universe thanks to the dragon balls and seeks revenge against Freezer. However, due to the malicious plans of one of the most influential families in the Universe, he is set on a collision course with Son Goku and Vegeta who, upon realising they are facing a powerful opponent, do not hesitate to accept the challenge.

A razão para isso é que, na primeira parte do mangá, parecia que não estava a ler Dragon Ball, mas sim outra coisa qualquer. I got to say I am impressed. The story I did nit think I would actually be able to say I like the story ideas of Dargon Ball Super as much as I do. This is not the most most action packed book, but I really like where the story is going.
Granolah makes a wish/deal to get his revenge on some of the most powerful fighters in the universe. Of course Goku and Vegeta are never ones to step away from a fight or a challenge. This will test all their new training and possibly force one of them to confront their part.
I really like that Goku and Vegeta are taking different routes with different mentors yo get stronger. I think both mentors and training styles fall more into each of their personalities as well. The setup are done let's see what is unleashed from here.

I’m not sure if Toriyama was extensionally hungry during the writing of the arc but honest aside from so side giggles I’m absolutely enraptured and truly the farther this fantastic series continues the more and more I want to see. Granolah as a protagonist/antagonist is honestly an interesting difference from the usual straight up bass like Moro or Freeza but that being said this Cerealean was and is not afraid to back down and literally put his life on the line in order to get the revenge he thinks he justly deserves and I can’t blame or take too much from him for wanting to either. 4.25/5

I read this awhile back but guess I never rated it, re-read it today.
It's a solid build up. Our new character has major beef with freezer, but also the Saiyans for what they did to his home planet. It makes for a understanding enemy of Goku and Vegeta. I also like the direction they're going with Vegeta and his training. This is a very much set up chapter for the big fight which I'll assume happens next volume. 3.5 out of 5.

Mangaka Akira Toriyama looks to introduce Granolah into his universe by giving him a revenge arc where Freeze and Saiyans are his primary targets. Meanwhile, Goku and Vegeta continue to work on perfecting new skills, hoping to soon enough battle someone that can really test their limits.
Lazily expanding the lore (especially regarding the dragon balls), mangaka Akira Toriyama allows Granolah to magically become a much-needed anomaly, one that can be considered a serious threat, to give this series something that will justify any new battles within this universe. Although there are some new pieces set in motion, the direction feels sluggish.

December 11, 2021Terminé de ponerme al día con Dragon Ball Super. No tiene sentido el nivel actual de este arco. Ya de por sí el arco de Moro me parecía estar a un nivel similar al de Cell y los androides, pero la saga de Granola está al mismo nivel que la de Freezer. Sigo con la idea de que super es un mal producto, porque tenés que leerte 8 tomos que rondan entre lo mediocre-malo, y una serie con otro título no llega al segundo tomo (solo un tonto empedernido como un fan de Dragon Ball -ejem yo- le seguiría dando una oportunidad). Pero Toriyama parece haber rejuveneció 30 años y decidió dejar de destruir su franquicia. Cuando hace las cosas bien tengo que decirlo también. Me encanta Super, soy fan de los monos de pelos rubios otra vez. Volví a tener esa sensación de cuando era chico de no querer que terminé un capítulo. Aun así, no recomiendo esta lectura para alguien que no es fanático de la obra, ya que tenés que comerte demasiados capítulos que son un insulto al buen gusto.

Me parece interesante eso de que Vegeta “domine” el poder de la destrucción mientras que por otro lado Goku domine el ultra instinct.
Lo expreso como “dominar” el poder de la destrucción ya que todavía no lo logra al 100% (o al menos eso entendí de una de las escenas). Sinceramente, no creo que lo haya dominado aún, ya que ni Goku dominó el ultra instinct las primeras veces y por ende Vegeta tampoco lo hará de una.
Y me parece interesante porque eso de alguna forma nos hace ver que Vegeta posee una técnica que Goku no, y me gusta eso. Quizá de alguna manera de esa forma, uno teniendo una técnica que el otro no, ambos se complementarán al final y ambos serán los que derroten a estos nuevos enemigos? puede ser? 🤔. Es algo que me interesa ver mucho y que lo llevo repitiendo como hace 2 o 3 volúmenes, lmao.

A great start to a new arc. Very interested in seeing the direction they are heading with this new "villain" that's not really a villain idea. This could be a special arc, if handled right. They can bring in so much emotional depth and complexity to the fights and story since the Freeza's arc from DBZ. Rating: 4.5/5. By the way, the cover for this volume looks fire!

An action-packed beginning to a new arc. More lore, more training, more new characters, this volume while being shocked full of combat is primarily setting up for the volumes to come and the inevitable Bardock backstory. None of that is a bad thing however, seeing Beerus finally tell Vegeta he ordered Frieza to eliminate the sayings was something I've long looked forward to. Goku beginning to use bits of ultra instinct in his base is also a fantastic development I did not expect this soon. All in all a good volume but I know better things are to come.

Leaving the Moro stuff behind, we enter into a new "Saga" of DBS, I guess we will call the "Granolah Saga". Seems pretty straightforward, and very much a Dragon Ball kind of story, though it will interesting to see where it goes, considering the developments unveiled here.
Highlights:
- Granolah is the last of the Cerealians (love this universe's puns!), and is a bounty hunter. With Moro's defeat, there won't be any jobs for him for a bit, so he returns home. He lives with Monaito, a very old Namekian who believes he is the last in the galaxy. AND if there is a new Namekian, you know what that means: NEW DRAGON BALLS! This time they are 2 balls that are very tiny and difficult to find (unless you need to move the plot along quickly).
- Granolah desires to be the "Strongest in the Universe", so he can take revenge against Freeza, who was responsible for the wipe out of the Cerealians. He gathers the Cerealian Dragon Balls and gets his wish, but at the cost of most of his remaining life. He only has 3 years left to live.
- Vegeta and Goku are training hard, with Beerus and Whis respectfully. Vegeta is trying to learn the power of Destruction, and it is coming to him. Goku is trying to learn to use Ultra Instinct without transformation, and keeping it going all the time.
- There is a group that works for Freeza, but also for themselves. Called "The Heeters": Elec, Oil, Gas, Macki; are able to craft a plan to trick Granolah and also get rid of the Saiyans. They tell Goku and Vegeta that their planet is being destroyed by a powerful being and they need help, but they tell Granolah that Freeza has sent two of his Saiyan goons to take him out. This misunderstanding is what causes the fight between the 3 of them.
- Goku decides to go first battling Granolah, and though his power and use of Ultra Instinct has grown, he still cannot beat Granolah. Wearing a kind of an x-ray scanner on his eye, he is able to see Goku's weak spot from his blood flow and can take him down easily.
- As we near the end of the Volume and the battle with Goku, Vegeta begins to realize who Granolah is..... but that reveal will be next time.
Overall a good Volume, but a tiny bit of filler, as the next will be packed with lots of fighting.
Recommend, especially if you are fans of the series.

Arc 6: Granolah the Survivor Saga
After Planet Cereal was ravaged by Frieza's Army, the Heeters swooped in and start rebuilding. The Sugarians also lose their home planet and they paid well to Heeters and starts inhabit Planet Cereal. The Sugarians are kind races. The Heeters' purpose was to find the place of Lord Zuno. After seeing through Seven-Three's memories, they know something more valuable; Dragon Balls that belong to the Namekians. Long ago, Namekians lived in Planet Cereal. They thought the Namekian already extinct. But, Granolah lived with old Namekian named Monaito. Monaita possesed a Dragon Ball and the size much smaller than the Earth's. One day, a Sugarian found another Dragon Ball and Granolah steal it. It is only need to two Dragon Balls to summon the dragon. Granolah wants to be the strongest in the universe but with one condition where he must sacrifice his life spans. Granolah went to see Elec to know about Frieza's whereabout. Elec doesn't know and will inform him later. Frieza is Heeters business partner. Elec will make Granolah meet with Goku and Vegeta. Macki and Oil went to see Lord Zuno to get some intel.
In Planet Beerus, Beerus said that Ultra Instinct is not the only god techniques. There is a technique specialized for Gods of Destruction. Beerus wants Vegeta not to feel guilty towards his sins and other Saiyans sins before this. Beerus is the one who suggested to Frieza to eliminate the Saiyans. Beerus wants Vegeta to destroy any stray thoughts and recreate himself from scratch. Whis got a call from Bulma that two aliens; Macki and Oil, wants a help from them. There is a strongest warrior in the universe set to ravage a planet. They wants Goku and Vegeta fights Granolah. After 18 days, Goku and Vegeta arrived at Planet Cereal using the Heeters' ship. They were ambushed by Granolah from afar. Goku fights Granolah first but Granolah knows Goku's weaknesses and he aim for his vital point. While Goku is fighting, Vegeta is observing the ruins.

9/10 Goku and vegeta train on beerus’s planet. Goku is focusing more on becoming in ultra instinct at all times because that is what angels do. His main master is Whis and he wants to learn everything he can. On the other hand, vegeta learns the power of destruction from Beerus. He trains on how to use that technique for a long white. Destroying isn’t just blasting to bits, it’s taking any kind of matter and dissolving it to nothing. All the while, Granolah returns home to planet cereal and visits the old man he lives with and helps through life. Turns out he’s a namekian who created 2 dragon balls for planet cereal. Granolah finds the second star one (the first one was in the namekians house) and summons the dragon. The dragon offers Granolah the power of being the most power being in the universe if he sacrifices years of his life. Granolah agrees in order to take down Freiza and take revenge on him and the saiyans. The heeters trick goku and vegeta to return to earth because “their planet is being ravaged by the universes strongest warrior”. The heeters also tell Granolah that goku and vegeta are saiyan warriors who are friezas assassins. Granolah attacks them on sight until goku decides he wants to go one on one with him first.

This volume was for the most part a setup for what is to come. Granolah succeeds on finding the necessary Dragon Balls to summon the dragon and have his wish fulfilled. It will allow him to challenge Freeza. In order to do so he has to go to the Heeters to get the location of Freeza from them. They finally agree to help him and provide him with the location when they receive the necessary intel themselves. This is the start of a plot from the Heeters against Granolah; they are setting him up against Goku and Vegeta who they label as assassins from Freeza looking to take Granolah down. On the other hand Goku and Vegeta are being set up to take on Granolah as he's a presumed to be a villain taking innocent lifes.
In between we have some training from both Goku and Vegeta. It's especially towards the end, when Goku and Vegeta arrive on planet Cereal, that the real fun starts with Goku and Vegeta meeting Granolah.
Conclusion:
This was still a good volume, especially towards the end with some decent fights.

Aunque conozco Dragon Ball desde niño en los 90, este es mi primer tomo de manga y llegó a mí como un regalo. Fue una grata sorpresa, ya que resultó ser una lectura muy entretenida.
El tomo 16 de Dragon Ball Super trata del comienzo de batalla contra Granola, un personaje cuya historia y motivaciones añaden una nueva capa de profundidad al universo de la serie.
Por supuesto, este es un tomo aislado dentro de una historia más grande, pero aun así cumple con su propósito: ofrecer acción, buen ritmo y diversión.

Although I've known Dragon Ball since I was a child in the '90s, this is my first manga volume, and it came to me as a gift. It was a pleasant surprise, as it turned out to be a very entertaining read.
Volume 16 of Dragon Ball Super covers the beginning of the battle against Granola, a character whose story and motivations add a new layer of depth to the series' universe.
Of course, this is a standalone volume within a larger story, but it still fulfills its purpose: delivering action, good pacing, and fun.

As a Dragon Ball fan going on 20+ years, I'm well aware of the series' strengths and weaknesses. Super has addressed many of them through its run, two of which are prevalent in this volume:
Stale Super Powers
While many villains in Super have brought techniques beyond ki blasts and hard punches, Goku and Vegeta are finally getting wrinkles to their own power - Ultra Instinct and Power of Destruction respectively. Them undergoing different training regimens is long overdue.
Most popular shounen have forced DB to diversify their techniques, which is welcome.
A Wish that Makes Sense
If I had a set of dragon balls, I'd wish to be the most powerful force in the universe. Throughout the series, no one has directly wished for this until Granolah.
Resurrect your emperor? Pshaw. Wish to BE the emperor.
Also, I'm glad the series is now showing the power of cold, hard capitalism. I'm low key rooting for the Heeters.

Re coucou les Poussins de Phoenix!
Dragon Ball Super 16 - Akira Toriyama (Scénario) & Toyotaro (dessins). Glénat. 187 pages. Mars 2022.
Amusant le champ lexical de la nourriture dans les noms propres.
On apprend qui est vraiment à l'origine de l'anéantissement des Sayans. J'avais pas deviné. Mais quand on y repense, c'était tellement juste sous nos yeux.
Sinon... Trop de nouveaux personnages introduits un peu à la va vite. Le début est un peu ch***** à part le passage avec Beerus et Vegeta.
J'ai l'impression qu'on a trop étalé la série pour la faire durer et qu'on devrait penser à la conclure. D'ailleurs j'avais beaucoup aimé le Tome 15, on aurait dû en profiter pour écrire une belle fin.... Si ça continue comme ça je ne sais pas comment Toriyama va garder ses lecteurs...
C'est sympa de voir Goku & Végéta mis à mal. Mais en même temps c'est du déjà-vu ça aussi.
De plus, je n'ai pas compris la dernière page.

I will warn you, after last volume hitting an all-time low in my opinion of adventures this one is a step up. I wish it was a father step up, but I feel as if Dragon Ball Super has lost it's way...and I am unsure how much longer I will continue to read it. This issue has the consequences of the actions during the Freeza reign of terror coming to fruition. While I like it, the story just doesn't seem to connect with me, and coming from someone who enjoys pirate stories this is a bit shocking. Granolah, who is the last of the Cerealians decides that payback is worth his lifespan and hatches a plan to get his revenge for Freeza's deadly oppression and elimination of his people. Fighting, training, eating...this volume has it all. Art is always top notch...story is good but not in the great category.

3.5/5, la verdad es que el comienzo de la saga de Granola no prometía mucho en el volumen anterior pero tiene su aquel, hay bastantes referencias interesantes y aunque oootra vez tenemos a un adversario más fuerte que el anterior parece que el personaje y la trama tienen un poquito más de fondo (tampoco mucho, que no deja de ser Dragon Ball). Lo malo: pues que tarda en arrancar y las típicas repeticiones: ya he perdido la cuenta de cuántos tipos de bolas de dragón hay, y una vez más en vez de optar por luchar juntos Goku y Vegeta prefieren que primero les zurren por separado (bueno, la pelea acaba de empezar, a lo mejor me sorprenden). Al menos también tenemos los típicos pequeños recursos cómicos y en general la cosa queda interesante para el próximo volumen.

This was such a good volume and we get the origin of Granolah and why he hates saiyans and Frieza and his power up and its interesting seeing the lore of the Dragon balls and how they came to be, and all that, feels like the Heeters are gonna be a big part of this arc or whatever comes next and I just love how we get Vegeta trying to be a God of destruction now and his training with Beerus is awesome and I can't wait to see where his character goes from here, and Goku vs Granolah was exciting and I am excited to read further!! This story arc started off well and yeah it seems familiar to previous stories but at this point I just read them for nostalgia and seeing cool fights and seeing how UI will grow.

Vegeta is trying to learn more ‘destruction’ stuff, while Goku tries to perfect Ultra Instinct. Elsewhere, we learn more about Granolah and get some fairly ridiculous Dragon Ball wish applications…
Btw, Granolah’s wish reminded me of what Gon did in HxH to fight Pitou. Anyway, through some Heeler manipulation, we finally get to see the Granolah vs Goku & Vegeta confrontation…and I gotta say, Granolah’s powers are pretty cool. The last two villains have featured cool skills and powers, which is nice to see after Jiren was so one note.

Fan service del fan service, pero es dragon ball asi que SOLO CONECTOLO EN MIS VENAS!
Se me hizo largo toda la presentacion de Granola hasta que se encuentra con Goku y Vegeta en el planeta Cereal. Me gusto mucho ver a Vegeta perfeccionar el nuevo power up, Goku tratando de dominar el Migatte sin estar transformado.
El dibujo de Toyotaro es genial, muy divertido ver en los estras que Monaito se iba llamar Slug pero Toyotar

Pretty good issue. A lot of setup for the next volume, but also some decent development. Granolah is interesting, I love the idea that he wants revenge against the Saiyans for performing genocide on his race (Dragon Ball GT did a similar story arc with Baby & the Tsufurians). I have to say, I like that these past two story arcs have focused more on Vegeta (I find him so much more fascinating than Goku)

Por fin da inicio la pelea con granola.
Definitivamente los hitta, son unos villanos por decir extraños para dragón ball, se basan en intrigas y manipulaciones, cosa que viene bien.
De igual manera granola va demostrando las habilidades que le fueron dadas como el más poderoso del universo.
Veremos qué tal le va.

Volumes like this can be more fun than the ones where its wall to wall fight scenes. It's an entry where the overall world building is touched upon including different races which were already established and how they can be utilized in other places in the wide galaxy. Also there is some pretty interesting training scenes.

June 18, 2024What a turnaround! I was completely exhausted with the last arc and now I'm all the way excited again. I like the designs and shadiness of the Heeters, Granolah's motivation is understandable and easy to sympathize with, and I'm looking forward to getting a bit more content with Bardock and a smidge more of the Oozaru as well.

I hope the misunderstanding gets cleared up and Goku, Vegeta and Granolah team up and destroy the Heeters…
And I’m tired of all these hair colors when “leveling up”. WE CANT SEE IT IN BLACK AND WHITE MANGA!!! How about a nice mustache instead?? LOL

This was great!
I rate this 5 stars because of the development they show for Goku and Vegeta training and how they're going down separate paths instead of relying on the same transformations for all these years.
