A time for love #2

Worst Boss Ever

Rate this book
During the day, I work for Dylan McAllister, the hunky billionaire who became CEO of his own company at thirty. He may be one of the hottest men I’ve ever met in my life, but he’s also the boss from hell. He has dazzling blue eyes that pierce your soul and freeze your heart. And he’s a known womanizer.

I call him AB to my friends—Asshole Boss. He’s grumpy, demanding, and rude. And that’s on a good day. He’s definitely the worst boss ever.

The only reason I’m still his secretary is because I have debt up to my eyeballs thanks to student loans and an ex that conned me into letting him use my credit cards. I’m counting down the days until I can quit and tell him to get his own coffee and lobster rolls. My calendar says that between both my jobs, I only need to work for him for three more months.

You see, Mr. McAllister has no idea that his “mousey little secretary” has a night job just so I can quit as soon as possible.

That is, until I end up at a bachelor party for his brother.

And then the real drama begins … because Mr. McAllister can’t seem to get over the fact that his boring secretary also pops out of cakes.

Excellent romance from hate to love
The characters are excellent: Abby has a cheeky side that can't be trodden on, but has to deal with her boss, Dylan, sublime, but with an unbearable arrogance, rude sometimes, but also a little more secretive.
Their conflicts and the situations they find themselves in are funny, as is their thinking when one tries to annoy the other.
Their feelings and resentments are well written and described, even moving towards the end, with scenes that can be hot.

So this one I did not like. It sounded like everything I wanted but I think the writer should have paced the book a bit better. One moment she hates him and he is an absolute asshole to her, the next he likes her and takes her away then he declares his love. It is an unrealistic timeline that in my opinion is not thought out well. It is a story line used a lot and one I normally enjoy! This fell short! This is a shitty book! Sorry to say!

Abby has major debts from scroll and an ex that conned her so she is starting a new job with great pay as Dylan’s secretary. He has a reputation as a demanding boss who is known for firing his assistants so Abby dresses frumpy and with big glasses and he’s glad she’s not attractive and hitting on him. He is often a jerk and sarcastic but Abby is not timid but spunky, and they have many snarky conversations. Dylan has a wicked sense of humor and Abby finds herself strangely attracted to the boss she hates. One night when Abby is at a club with her friends Dylan see her and hardly recognizes her dressed up, with makeup and no glasses. She nicknames Dylan AB, for asshole boss. To make some extra money Abby takes a job as a cake girl, to jump out of a cake at a bachelor party and dance. When she gets there she realizes she will be wearing very little and accidentally ends up on Dylan’s lap at his brother’s bachelor party. Abby is the best secretary Dylan has had and he doesn’t want to ruin things but he is attracted to her although he doesn’t believe in love and never wants to marry. Can they find happiness together when she lives for love and he doesn’t believe in love?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story with the grumpy boss and his snarky, quick-witted secretary. The author did a great job showing how their very different childhoods had shaped their attitudes on love. Dylan had been raised in uncaring foster homes with his brother and was now a billionaire who has a lot of pain still inside and doesn’t believe in love while Abby had great parents and wanted a loving family in her future. It was fun to see some of the characters from other books in this series again too. Abby and Dylan’s fun conversations with quick comebacks made this book even more interesting and I highly recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Abby Waldron was to start her new job the next day, her best girlfriends were celebrating with the good news with her, when she got a message from her new HR department. There were all kinds instructions for her new job including tips on how to dress. Abby was always gorgeous woman, but she down played her looks to look like a mousy librarian as her new boss always felt like women went to work for him to make a play for him. After, she got work the next morning and shortly after their first in person interaction, Abby thought he was the most obnoxious man she had ever met. She more or less told him so too. For some reason, he liked the fact that she had spunk so he did not fire her on the spot. As the week went on Abby got better at her job making fewer mistakes, but the banter between them continued back and forth. At the end of the week her friends wanted her to go out to a nightclub with them for an evening of drinking and dancing. As it turned out her boss, Dylan McAllister's brother Kent was has a bachelor party at the same club. When Abby's group arrived, Dylan and Kent were waiting outside for the rest of their group, but Dylan did not recognize Abby except for her voice. He had no idea how beautiful she was, but he was enjoying being around her. You need to read this book to believe everything that Abby gets up to for truly if was not for bad luck Abby would have had no luck at all. I received an advance readers copy, and I am posting a honest voluntary review.

Abby and Dylan came from different backgrounds and it helped shape their personalities and who they were today. Abby came from a loving family while Dylan and his brother were raised in uncaring foster homes. He was grumpy, arrogant and didn't believe in love. Abby's secret name for him was AB 'A..hole Boss'. She dressed frumpy at work so she could remain in the background as much as possible. He ran into her after hours at a club and she was gorgeous. He couldn't believe it was his secretary but he recognized her voice. She had lots of spunk and didn't let him run over her. The book had a lot of humor and their back and forth banter was cute. Their chemistry was off the charts but they were so different in their feelings about love and being together forever. The book was well written and the characters were so well developed and fun. I read an advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

Seriously, the author needs to ditch the Yes men around her. The book had a good start and then it went downhill. The timeline between the meeting and the ending is a little bit short, and the end really needs work, it was a little bit too fast...

I was provided a copy of this book and this is my honest review!

First off, Miss Cooper has this writing style where her characters have realistic conversations with each other. Majority of the time when I have a conversation with my friends, I will go off subject from a story or topic to something else and eventually circle back to the main story. It does happen. Abby, Emma, Chloe and Isabella have these types of conversations in this book. I love it! Anyways, I love how devoted Abby is to make sure she has money to pay off debts. We all have those times when we need that extra cash to pay off the rabbit hole of debt. Oh that scene the blurb talks about: hilarious and steam follows! The bickering, bantering, and flirting between Dylan and Abby is hot and steamy! Highly recommend reading!

Dylan hasn’t known what love is in his life, but he’s worked hard to make something of his life.
Now Abby comes bursting into it as his latest secretary and she turns everything on its head.
The banter between Dylan and Abby is hilarious and there is so much back and forth with Dylan changing his mind about being in work mode or personal mode that everything is just a ball of confusion for Abby to figure out.
I loved the back and forth between these 2 characters and the emotions that come out at different times.
I found this book really enjoyable to read and can’t wait to read the next I’m in the series.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my voluntary and honest opinion.

Abby was a firecracker she stuck up for her self and never let her boss get away with being rude to her.

Dylan had to work hard to get to where he was and he was very closed off to everyone. He was a grouch and like to flirt and be rude at any given chance.

Abby and Dylan together were a good laugh the chemistry they had was electric. The banter between them from the moment they met was the best

A tumultuous journey...
by and1515...

Abby was so far in debt and with very few options she wasn't about to let the best opportunity pass her by.
Cave quid volunt which means be careful what you wish for and yeah Abby just found out the hard way exactly what those words really mean.
All thanks to Dylan McAlister her new boss who's personality speaks volumes.
However the sparks between them are quite evedent from the very beginning.

This is the second book in the worst ever series. And I absolutely loved it. I was invested from the start. Abby is an amazing character. She’s strong, and doesn’t put up with anyone’s crap. Not even her rich, arrogant, sexy boss. These two characters have tons of chemistry, and as much as they fight it, they finally give in to their desire. I can’t wait to read the next books in this series. I definitely recommend this series.

Abby takes a job as a secretary that pays a lot and seems to good to be true. Until she meets her very demanding boss Dylan McAllister. The arrogant playboy billionaire. Since Abby has debt she is going to stick it out long enough to pay her debt. Dylan doesn’t keep secretaries very long. But he’s drawn to Abby and the fact that she isn’t scared of him and doesn’t back down either. This was an entertaining read.

Absolutely loved this second book in the series. This story is centred around Abby and Dylan. So funny in places and so frustrating chemistry between Dylan and Abby. The sex scenes are really hot. I loved Dylan winding Abby up every chance he got. Loads of sizzle. Plenty of lol moments. Great partnership. I really enjoyed this book. Thanks again Jaimie.

I really enjoyed reading this. It moves along at a pace which is perfect for the story being not too fast nor too slow but a nice steady pace which makes for an easy read. The characters are awesome and you cannot help but fall in love with them. This is a must read that needs to be on your list of books to read.

This was such a fun book to read. The characters were awesome. Abby is in major debt and becomes the secretary to Dylan. He can be a jerk but Abby is a strong woman. They have great chemistry and play off each other perfectly. The sex scenes are super hot. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for more in the series.

Dylan & Abby’s Story Is A Wacky Romance About The Worst Boss Ever & All The Drama That Follows! A Light-Hearted Slow Burn Filled With Zany Humor.

This is book two in the A Time for Love series which follows four twenty-eight-year-old roommates in New York City.

Book one, Worst Date Ever, is Isabella and Jack’s story. This is Abby and Dylan’s story.

ABOUT THE A TIME FOR LOVE SERIES:

Isabella, Abby, Emma, and Chloe met as freshmen while attending Columbia University together, and their friendships have endured in the decade since. They share a cramped apartment in Little Italy as they struggle to get ahead. None of the roommates have had much luck dating until recently when Isabella met and fell in love with Jack. She just recently moved in with her new boyfriend, but she doesn’t forget about her friends. They all support one another in their search for true love.

IN THIS BOOK:

Abby Waldron, twenty-eight, is feisty and independent. She has a sense of adventure – especially when it comes to pizza. She also has a mountain of debt to pay off. Between the student loans she stacked up while getting her English degree at Columbia, and David Adams, a guy she briefly dated who conned her out several thousand dollars before ghosting her, she owes over $100,000 plus interest. She is counting her blessings for landing a good-paying job through an employment agency, but she might not keep it for long. She might have exaggerated some of her qualifications, and her new boss has a reputation for going through secretaries almost as fast as he goes through women. He is supposedly impossible to please which might have something to do with the agency’s difficulty in filling the position.

Dylan McAllister, thirty, worked hard to get to the top. He is CEO of McAllister Corporation, a Fortune 500 company. He thrives in the workplace, where he feels most at home, as emotions aren’t really his thing. His success is no accident. A self-made billionaire, his power emanates from within. He and his younger brother Kent had been abandoned by their mother and bounced from foster home to foster home in their youth. Dylan did his best to shelter Kent from all the ugliness, and he was largely successful. Kent is well-adjusted and, against Dylan’s advice, looking forward to marrying the love of his life. Dylan knows relationships lead to vulnerability, and he won’t ever put himself in that position again. He has his choice amongst models and actresses, and he never runs out of options.

Abby knows a little about Dylan’s reputation and does her research before starting her first day on the job. She shows up dressed in her best frumpy librarian look and wears it like an armor. The arrogant billionaire is bossy and demanding but that doesn’t stop her from saying what is on her mind. The two quickly develop an open and unusual banter despite the lack of physical attraction. They both feel the pull, but it isn’t until Dylan runs into Abby outside of business hours that he begins to recognize what a true beauty she really is. From there temptation is added to mix, and their banter becomes increasingly inappropriate given their relationship as employer and employee. They both know they cannot allow it to amount to anything, and yet neither can exactly let it go.

Abby and her two older brothers had a good childhood, and her parents are still happily married today. She enjoys going home for Sunday brunch with her family. Her parents were originally from the small country of Guyana in South America but spent time in England before making their home in Brooklyn. She looks forward to her mother’s homecooked meals that remind her of her childhood and her heritage. She loves her family. She hopes to find true love one day and have the kind of happiness that her parents found in each other. As attracted as she is to Dylan, she knows the arrogant womanizer is not relationship material.

As Dylan is introduced to Abby’s world and sees his own brother’s happiness about the upcoming nuptials, he reluctantly finds himself reflecting on his past and reminding himself of all the reasons he chose to find fulfillment in his successes, not in people. He doubles down on his determination to keep things from going too far with his secretary, but it isn’t always easy. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Worst Best Friend Ever, book three in the series, is hinted at here. It is Emma and Cody Remington’s story.

One issue merits mention. We are told that Dylan is thirty in the beginning, but a little later it appears he states that he is twenty-eight. There may have been a formatting issue, though, so that might have actually been a reference to Abby, who is twenty-eight, instead. It is unclear.

Wow! Dylan and Abby have crazy banter and neither seems to have much of a filter. Despite their over-the-top flirting, though, their story is actually a slow burn. The two dance around their attraction together, but it never gets boring. Abby’s friends and family are a big resource for her, offering her unlimited love and support. Dylan’s support group is mostly limited to his younger brother Kent. Kent triggers the best in Dylan, who privately has a soft side. That begins to change when Abby walks into his life. Soon he finds himself opening up and considering things he never imagined himself wanting. She is nothing like the women he typically dates, but that turns out to be a very good thing. She is real. She is honest. And she doesn’t have an agenda.

Dylan and Abby’s story is a wacky romance about the worst boss ever and all the drama that follows. It is a light-hearted slow burn filled with zany humor. It is an over-the-top enemies-to-lovers workplace romance. Dylan has always needed to rely upon himself, and now that he has achieved power and money, he wants to keep it that way. He doesn’t want a relationship to weigh him down. Abby is looking for love, and her arrogant boss is the last person she could fall for. Their story is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are kooky. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Abby and Dylan. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

DNF. Abby is kind of stupid and I don’t know why she was hired in the first place. She couldn’t do one job correctly and all the time the author is emphasising on the beauty of her and how gorgeous the hero is. If I had a secretary like that, I wouldn’t have a secretary at all. Both are stupid.

Worst Boss Ever: Enemies to lovers boss romance (A Time For Love Book 2)
By: J.S. Cooper

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Grouch and the Sweet Mouse!

Oh dear could opposites really attract? It sure seem unlikely in Worst Boss Ever. Yikes Dylan McAllister is a absolute nightmare to everyone in his path. He’s gorgeous but not a nice person. When a money debt becomes a way to insist sweet Abby at his Beck and call. Will they survive each other! Can she get him to see things in a different light. Will these two kill each other? The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: During the day, I work for Dylan McAllister, the hunky billionaire who became CEO of his own company at thirty.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

This is book two in A Time For Love Series which is a enemies to lovers boss romance and it is Abby and Dylan's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Abby has a lot of debts due to her ex boyfriend and college and now she needs a good job to pay them all off and that is how she meets Dylan McAllister who is a billionaire CEO of his own company. Dylan has had to work hard to get where he is today and he doesn't suffer fools gladly and everything has to be done his way or you wouldn't last long working for him he also never does relationship or has any intentions of getting married but the one person that he would do anything for his is brother. When Dylan and Abby meet sparks fly but not in a good way and Abby thinks that he is totally arrogant, bossy and a jerk and Abby gets so annoyed and doesn't know how much longer that she will be able to work for Dylan. The chemistry and connection between Abby and Dylan is off the charts not but Abby is looking for true love and her soul mate and Dylan is looking for a one night stand with no commitment. I absolutely loved this book so much and the story takes you in right from the start and kept your attention right until the last page and with all it's banter that had me cracking up with laughter and I couldn't put this book down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and I absolutely loved the outcome. J S Cooper is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and on the edge of their seats.I

Abby gets a new job as the personal assistant for Dylan McAllister. He is a self made rich bachelor who pays her well but lives up to his reputation as a jerkhole boss as he has several unreasonable demands. He wants her to start her work day by calling him at 6 am although he could just as easily check his schedule the previous day. He expects her to be available for work whenever, including her days off, and makes several suggestive comments that would be deep in the harassment territory if Abby wasn't secretly into him as well. Abby gets a gig as a dancer who pops out of cakes, and of course Dylan happens to be in that party. Then they travel to Scotland together.

The writing flows well, the dialogue was fun, and I was entertained throughout this book, staying up far too late to read it. But I think Abby and her friends cut Dylan a bit too much slack. He was scarred by his experiences as an orphan in the foster care system and this made him closed off emotionally. But not all orphans are terrible bosses who won't let their secretaries have any free time, and Dylan could turn the jerkhole boss act on and off at will. So I wasn't convinced that it was all because he was a traumatized child, it seemed that a lot of the time he was a jerk just because he could, and this is not a very attractive trait in a boss or a romance hero. I wanted him to apologize and grovel a little more.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is a voluntary review.

Loved this story by J.S. Cooper! Abby had a lot of debt and thinks she may have just landed the job that will help her pay that debt off faster than she thought possible. Only thing that worries her is that she hasn’t heard anything good about her new boss. For the amount of money she’ll be making a month, she figures it can’t be that bad! Then she meets Dylan, her new boss, and realizes she may be wrong. While he is unbelievably hot, he’s also a real pain in the butt! He’s demanding, controlling, and makes her blood boil!

Dylan has always looked out for his brother from the time they were very young. They didn’t have the best upbringing, but Dylan has worked incredibly hard to make a great life for the two of them. Dylan’s brother is getting married and while Dylan is happy for him, he doesn’t believe in love himself. Then he hires Abby to be his new secretary. She’s not always punctual, she doesn’t always put up with his crap, and there’s just something about her that gets under his skin. But as time goes on, Dylan realizes that Abby may be just what he needs in his life.

This is an amazing story that’s got a great storyline and wonderful characters! The cake popping scene...LOL!!! This story cracked me up and I absolutely loved it!

This is my first time reading this author and wow I was so impressed. This book was a slow burn romance between a hot boss, Dylan and his new sexy secretary, Abby. Its #2 in a series of four books about friends who live in NYC who all live together and are close and met in college. It easily stands alone but I loved it so much I want to read the first book as well.

This story is told in two POV, Dylan and Abby and it was so much fun. I laughed in some parts so much and other times I shook my head at poor Dylan. He grew up with his brother as a foster kid and he is very anti relationships and love. Abby dreams of love. Thats her ultimate dream. But you also as your read can see how Dylan has fallen hard for her, even as he denies it.

These two are really magic together. They are fun, hot and they have a really fabulous relationship. Its very much a lust at work relationship. I know Abby claims to hate Dylan many times but I really don't think she ever hates him. He is a jerk to her at times but she also sees below the jerkiness too.

If you like laughter in your books then you will adore this story. I can't wait for the other books in this series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was honoured to receive an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.

It's not often that I am actually on the fence as to whether I like a book, but this is where I've found myself.

Dylan is a rich business man who has no problems with going through girlfriends and receptionists as quick as water goes through a sieve. You've heard of someone having emotional baggage well this character has all the baggage from everyone who goes on a cruise ship.

He has moments when he is being nice or flirty you think ok, but the next second on a flip of coin he has changed it is Jekyll and Hyde yes we are talking MEGA commitment phobic. So he lives up to his AB nickname

Abby
Well she starts a new job a bit blasé about how strict Dylan is. Abby comes across as so nieve about everything. Including the constant banter that makes her out to still have her V card.
There is a fine line with having Sass and just being plain rude. It is surprising as to how she managed to keep her job as Abby fails at being sassy by a long distance.

There were funny parts like the batchelor party and checking in baggage.

Bounced from foster home to foster home as a child, Dylan McAllister became the protector to his younger brother Kent and himself. Never feeling love from a parent, he focused his attention on making a name for himself.

Years later, Dylan McAllister is the owner of a fortune 500 company. He has everything he could ever ask for but not the one thing he needs. He has closed himself off from love until the day Abby Waldron walked into his office, a mousy haired librarian with the body and soul of a vixen underneath and a fiery attitude to boot.

Abby tempts him in ways he has never experienced before. He finds himself making excuses to see or call her. "I was falling for her. Irrevocably, deeply in love. And it scared the sh*t of me because I didn't even know what love really meant."

Will Dylan finally realize money isn't everything if you don't have the love of a great person by your side or will he lose the one person who fully gets him.

A great read!

Honestly, I’m not one to really complain about books that I read, even when my opinion is low. After all, a person has put their heart and soul into the writing and publishing, but what the fuck did I just read?

I started this last night and I got to page 229. So close to the end, but after going to sleep, I couldn’t force myself to continue in the light of day.

The blurb isn’t correct for what this story is about. Everything was rushed. The MMC’s age was wrong considering something we’d previously been told. The FMC was infuriating, and not at all appreciative of the fortunate position she’d fallen into. And her side hustle was a one time thing, and honestly, it made no sense! There were plot issues in this, ones that I found very irksome such as the days events were occurring.

To me, it felt like this was a first draft being put into the world without a single read through or edit.

And why is this book on here twice under different names?
