A second chance to win back the love of his life…

Ever since Beck’s wife, Josie, moved out of their family home with their son, he’s been trying to win her back, but Josie refuses to reconcile. As much as he loves her, he knows if he doesn’t do something drastic, he’s still going to be working in his bar, waiting for her, in twenty years’ time. So he’s applied for a new job in another town, and when their divorce comes through after Christmas, it’ll be time for him to move on.

Caught up in a cycle of pain and grief, Josie’s retreated into her shell, cutting herself off from her family and friends, and refusing to talk about the event that broke up her marriage. As a psychologist, she knows she’s locked in a destructive behavioral pattern, but it’s impossible to break it. Despair threatens to overwhelm her—and then, on the evening of her friend’s bachelorette party, Beck does something that finally opens the floodgates, and she begins to talk.

For the first time, the pain of the past lifts, and the ice around her heart starts to thaw. At the wedding, she dances with Beck, and after a few drinks, it’s all too easy to have a kiss – and maybe more – for old times' sake. Suddenly, the future’s looking much brighter. But can they both overcome the problems of their past enough to give their love a second chance?

4 Star Review of Between You, Me & The Bedpost (Between The Sheets #5) by Serenity Woods

The fifth book in the series and a stand alone. I have only read one other book in this series and I had absolutely no trouble at all.

I enjoy Ms. Woods writing style; her characters are always believable and the way she describes the surroundings, often makes me feel as though I am seeing the places she talks about in my mind.

Between You, Me & The Bedpost is Josie and Beck’s second chance at love story. Beck’s has done everything he can think of to get his wife back with no success. Finally he decides that enough is enough and applies for a job in another town.

Josie has totally withdrawn from her family and friends. As a psychologist she knows what she is doing but is helpless to stop herself.

No one knows why they separated and finally in this story we find out. After dancing at their friend’s wedding and finally telling their friends what led to the divorce proceedings, the wall that Josie has built up finally starts to crumble.

I really enjoyed this story, although the pain and heartache at times was overwhelming. This is a story about coming to terms with the past, of moving through the darkness and finally coming out the other side into the light.

Can Beck finally convince Josie that the love they share is worth fighting for or will the divorce go through?

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Re-read - 1/11/20
Started another SW book (Bewitching Winter) and the angsty plot kind of reminded me of this, which led to an immediate craving for a reread almost exactly 1 year after the first time I read (and loved) this. Loved it just as much as last time. This is one of my favourite tropes but its so refreshing that Beck and Josie are amicable exes and never doubt their love for each other, they just need a little push to reunite. Rereading this re-affirmed my love for SW.

Serenity Woods is one of my favourite authors, and I've enjoyed everything I've ever read from her, but this one may just top the list. I read this in a matter of hours and absolutely devoured this story.

From reading the other books in this series, we know that Beck and Josie have a four year old son together and are about to be divorced, however we didn't know what caused their breakup. In their book, we find out the heartbreaking reason why they split and get to read the beautiful story of how they reunited and healed from their past problems. This was such an emotional read, but the author managed to keep the tone relatively light and not too angsty. The chemistry between Beck and Josie was amazing, and there were so many heartwarming scenes. I can not say enough good things about this book! Just know that you absolutely HAVE to read this!

Between you, Me, and the Bedpost By Serenity Woods
Between the Sheets #5

Reading the last book in this series was bittersweet. I finally found out why Beck and Josie broke up years before and I was then given the chance to see what they would do when the situation was right for them to perhaps have a HEA together if they were both on the same page at the same time. The author made me feel with both Josie and Beck and understand where they were coming from. The fact that they both still loved one another throughout was amazing even though they were trying to move on with their lives...sort of. Edward, their son, was a sweetie. Getting to see how the couples from previous stories was a delight and hearing about people from other series tweaked memories of stories I have read in the past and would like to revisit in the future.

This is another stellar story from Serenity Woods – one that I highly recommend! I always look forward to reading what this author publishes and can’t wait to see what will come next.

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Another terrific book in this series by Serenity Woods. Having been to the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, Serenity captures the ambiance of the area. Sadly, when I visited, I could not find the Between the Sheets bar or the Treats confectionary.

Serenity writes wonderful characters that resonate with me. They are a little too perfect and they mostly resolve all their troubles, but they have unwaveringly good hearts, something we need to read about at this time.

I particularly liked this book because it dealt with a loving couple wherein one partner changed dramatically. How does a partner that hasn't changed understand what motivates their "other"? How does the person who has changed not recognize the havoc they are imposing on the marriage? Serenity deals with these issues deftly and I thank her for her insights.

Looking forward to the next Serenity Woods Series.

Wow! Just Wow! This is a great ending to a great series.

Beck and Josie have been together for ages. They have a son, a house ... and are weeks away from having a divorce. But they also have mutual respect and chemistry that just won't quit. They also share a tragedy, which is the cause for their split. They remain friends but the tragedy put them on the divorce path.

The characters, particularly Beck, makes this book an instant re-read (most of Ms. Woods books are for me). After years of marriage, he remains devoted to Josie and smitten with her.

Despite Beck's devotion, Josie struggles to get past an unspeakable tragedy. Her pain keeps her from Beck and she builds walls around herself that are unscalable .... or are they?

At a mutual friend's wedding, Beck and Josie get together one last time and the sizzle lights up the whole resort. From that point forward, Beck, despite knowing he needs to move on to preserve his sanity, becomes pulled back into Josie's orbit.

Will this opening be enough to get over the tragedy?

I found Beck and Josie to be realistic characters who are surrounded by favorite characters from other books in this series and others. I particularly liked Beck as a character. He is totally into Josie and only has one other date, which is a disaster. He tries to balance his love for Josie and understanding that she was totally incapacitated with the tragedy with his own self-preservation.

If you haven't read any of Ms. Woods books, this is a standalone book that is supported by favorite characters .... you can read this one, but you'll want to go back and read the other books in the series ... actually, you'll want to read ALL of her books! Her writing style is as I've come to expect: Solid characters, good storyline, charismatic dialogue, all with NZ as a backdrop. Ms. Woods surely must be a boon to the NZ Tourism industry. I've never been but really want to go after reading her books!

Download this book! It's summer in the US and this is the perfect book to add to your Beach read list ... or if you're in the southern hemisphere, add to the pile that will keep you in a warm and cozy home!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Finally Beck and Josie’s Turn

This is the last book in the Between the Sheets series by Serenity Woods. Although it can be read independently of the others like all of Ms. Wood’s series. (It is just fun to read about your “old friends” from the other books though.)

Beck and Josie have a history. A long history in that they have been married and have a child together. They separated due to a lot of issues including Josie’s miscarriage and the traumatic emotional aftermath. When a woman has a marriage, people expect her to have issues but to deal with them and move on. Pretty fast. But the reality is that every one of us processes grief differently and different speeds. And it isn’t just mum who has to deal with her grief but the dad does too.

Beck and Josie both struggle to move on. Josie is a therapist and one of the hardest things for a therapist to do is to accept that she is struggling. The struggles and emotional trauma is too much for both Beck and Josie. They end up separating and are almost at the end of their three year waiting period for their divorce to be final when circumstances bring them back together. Beck still loves Josie and Josie still loves Beck. And they decide to give it try.

Can true love make it? Can love really conquer all? Well, read this lovely story to find out.

Ms. Woods’ novels are always a wonderful escape into the lovely world of New Zealand and the wonderful people who live there.

I did receive a copy of this novel ahead of time from Ms. Woods in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. I have read the book twice now and my opinion after the second read still hasn’t changed so I am guessing that this review can be considered unbiased and fair.

This is the 5th book in the Between the Sheets series, named after the bar and meeting place featured in the books. Between You, Me and the Bedpost stands alone, so you do not have to read the other books in the series, but the book is so much richer if you do. You will be visiting old friends in this book, and in the previous books Josie and Beck were in the background as a sad story of a married couple and their young son who were separated but you had the feeling that they should be back together. You wanted to bang their heads together to make them see that they still love each other. All they need is a nudge. The marriage of their friends gave them the push to talk to their friends and, more importantly, to each other about why they separated. I am so glad that we finally get their story.

Serenity Woods is never afraid to tackle difficult situations and add depth and thoughtfulness to her books. I should know, I have read and loved over 40 of them! In this book she talks about the pain and misery that trying hard to conceive another child and then losing the baby to a miscarriage can rack on a marriage. They are still so much in love, and it sure comes across in the book. It is so romantic and full of feeling and love. But they don't know how to start over again and put the past behind them. The tension builds in the book as the old sexual attraction flares up and they both face career decisions and a pending divorce decree that could seal their fate. No spoilers here; you just have to read this book. Then wipe the tears from your eyes!

Between You, Me, and the Bedpost is Between the Sheets Book 5. Serenity Woods has out done herself this time with this heartbreaking but also heartwarming story of a couple that are days away from a divorce. If you had read the other stories in the series, the separation has come up but the reason why has never been known among the friends. If this is the first book you are reading in the series, no worries it is self-complete on its own.

This is the story of two people who obviously still love each other but have come to an impasse. They are the last couple within this group of friends to get their story. It began years ago with love, marriage, a child, then if all fell apart. The odds for a second chance seem slim to none, but stranger things happen in life. However, much has to be dealt with for that.

You can count on Ms. Woods to tackle the tough stuff in a sensitive and compassionate way, no finger pointing. Dual POV helps to see it from both perspectives, making it so that there is no way to take sides. Instead, I was wishing and hoping that they would find and take that second chance on their love and their family.

Marvelous finish to the series that reminds us that people can hide their heartaches. Also that people can recover from heartbreak to move on to be stronger and sounder than before. So realistic. So authentic. So dramatic and vividly intense.

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One of the most beautiful romances ever written

From the very first paragraph, I was captivated by this warm, second-chance romance. Josie and Beck are wonderful people who I adore. The writing lets you inside their most intimate thoughts and their most tender emotions. I felt that this novel expresses love in the truest, most wonderful way that I have ever read. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about this most beautiful novel. I hope that everyone who loves contemporary romance hears about it and reads it because it would be a shame for romance lovers not to experience this novel. Serenity Woods writes so many romances of the highest quality, but I think this one is the best yet.

Trigger warning: a miscarriage is briefly described in a flashback.

The love scenes are searingly steamy with exquisite intimacy. The setting is the North Island of New Zealand, and it is described so well that it felt like I was actually there. As an added bonus, the book includes the wedding of Danny and Hermione from the earlier book, “An Ocean Between Us”. Plus, the wedding takes place at the same gorgeous vineyard from the wonderful “Blue Penguin Bay” trilogy!

I received a free advanced reading copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. I was not paid for this review.

A delightful end to the series. Becks and Josie have never told anyone why their marriage combusted, and now there is just two weeks until their divorce is finalised. They both still deeply love one another, but Becks knows he must move on, and has secretly applied for a job as manager of a smart new hotel in a different town. Josie was upset when she found out that he was dating again, even though he only had one date, and his heart wasn’t really in it. On the Eve of Danny and Hermione’s wedding, when both are at stag and hen parties both of them finally tell their friends what happened. For Josie this is the catalyst for the ice walls round her heart to start cracking.

At the wedding reception Becks invites Josie to dance, and they spend most of the evening together, and then the night, ‘for old times sake’. After that it is a steady trip to getting back together. Not all stories need to be dramatic, this one has a couple of tense moments, but when something is meant to be ... well, you cannot fight it! We, the audience, have watched Becks and Josie through the entire series, and just needed them to be happy again!

The ending is very romantic. A lovely story, well worth reading.

Together with many other affectionate readers, I've been waiting for Beck's story for a long time. My expectations have certainly not been disappointed by the male protagonist. Beck is a sweet, kind-hearted and generous individual, whose personality captivates the readers easily. His son, Edward, also adds a bright and sweet touch to the narration. Finally, as in any respectable epilogue, the whole cast of characters of the previous books plays a constant role in the story, providing a welcome encore. Josie, the female protagonist, is, indeed, a controversial character. Many readers will sympathize with her emotionally driven choices, others will peg her behavior as selfish and immature. In both cases, the contrast between her personality and Beck's brings vividness and adds dynamic to the story.
The author's signature writing style pervades the book. Many times, Ms. Woods' voice seems to jump out of the page, expressing feelings and opinions that are instrumental to the general ambiance of the story.
Overall, Between Me, You and the Bedpost is an easy-to-read, vivid and pleasant book, that will gift a few hours of light entertainment, leaving the readers hopeful that the series, despite the authors' declared intentions, will not come to an end.

When I received this ARC, I immediately stopped everything so that I could read Beck and Josie's story. I absolutely was not disappointed.

We finally get to find out what separated Beck and Josie. There is so much emotion involved. Can they really overcome the past?

Serenity Woods weaves their tale so you feel the sense of overwhelming love they share; of Josie rising from a tunnel of darkness; of Beck wanting, but not believing it was possible; of Beck and Josie both hoping against hope, and moving cautiously back toward each other; and their family and friends hoping it all works out for them. You get all the feels.

Beck's love and support of Josie is awesome. Their chemistry and communication is loving, sweet, and tender. You get the steamy scenes that are so sensual. This book makes you hopeful, makes you happy, and makes you smile. Then you get that special HEA. I'm slightly sad that this is the last book in the series, but it was so well done that I just feel satisfied.

Nothing like a Serenity Woods book to soothe the soul! Between You, Me, and the Bedpost is book 5 in the Between the Sheets series, this time up is Josie and Beck's story. Once again, the author tackles a tough subject with this very likable couple, miscarriage. Josie and Beck's marriage has broken up due to Josie not being able to get past the miscarriage of their baby, they are in the last stretch of their divorce being finalized, both are having second thoughts, but both for their own reasons are hesitant. I really enjoyed this book, the gang is all present and now married, enjoyed the setting of the beautiful New Zealand in the background. I think the only thing that dragged the story down for me was it was a bit long with Josie not coming to terms with her situation with Beck. I get that the situation was difficult on both ends, but the amount of harping on the situation got a bit tiring after awhile, but overall another great book from one of my favorite authors.

4.5 Stars for Between You, Me, and the Bedpost (Between the Sheets Book 5)
This may be book 5 bit like all the rest of this series it can be read as a standalone, nec again this author paints so many pictures with her words and I felt like I had been transported to New Zealand.
This is a true second chance love story with Josie and Beck only weeks away from their divorce becoming final, life has not been easy for this couple yet they still managed remained friends through the tragedy of losing a baby, they still loved each other, they have an adorable little boy together but Josie can’t get past the loss. Attending their best friend’s wedding gives them the push they need to talk and remember what they had and how they really feel about each other.......
This author is never afraid to cover hard subjects and this story has to be one of the hardest yet it was still full of love with just a tiny mix of humour. A beautifully written love story that had me feeling like I was home with family and friends. Looking forward to more from this group of friends.

This continues Serenity Woods’ series about a group of friends in a northern New Zealand small community. You don’t need to have read the earlier books, but if you have, you’ve probably wondered what was the problem between a separated couple, Beck and Josie. In this novel we find out the tragedy that led to Josie’s depression and the disintegration of their marriage. This novel opens with Josie coming to face with her sadness and starting to find her way out of it. Beck is a sweetheart. He never gave up loving Josie and he’s willing to give their love one more try.

These are two good people trying to find happiness again. You’ll pull for them and be glad to follow along to see how it goes for them.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from the author; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I have been waiting desperately for this book, there have been mentions in every other book in the series about Beck and Josie, and how something went drastically wrong in their marriage.

After all the teasing, unfortunately it was a bit of a let down. Serenity usually writes such realistic characters but in this case I just don't believe a psychologist would have acted the way Josie has. Beck was also a bit of a wishy washy character.

All in all, it just felt like a half baked plot. None of the storylines was pushed far enough. An unplanned pregnancy (discovered late enough to be past the worry stage) would have worked in nicely.

To be fair, this is the first time I haven't totally loved one of Serenity's stories, so perhaps it's just a one off?

Between You, Me and the Bedpost finally reveals why Josie and Beck are separated and in the process of getting a divorce...they just have to get through their friends’ wedding without going to pieces. Serenity Woods has written such a lovely second chance story that is both sizzling and sweetly touching. No spoilers...just a sincere recommendation that you come along on the ride! Longtime fans know the author always addresses a pertinent issue in her books. Our heroine, Josie is a psychologist, who while recognizing her own problems, has been unable to get past her pain or see another therapist. Beck also has never revealed anything about the separation to his mates. Can the dam finally bursting bring these two back together? I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.

Reading the last book in this series was a bittersweet experience, I think this was the most emotional book of the series and was so good. We finally learned why Beck and Josie broke up years ago, and we were allowed to see what might happen if the timing was right for them to achieve a happily-ever-after together. The author beautifully conveyed the emotions of both Josie and Beck, helping you understand their perspectives. Seeing that they still loved each other despite their attempts to move on with their lives was touching. Their son, Edward, was adorable. It was a delight to reconnect with the couples from previous stories, and references to characters from other series brought back memories of tales in the other books.

Between You, Me and The Bedpost is the much awaited story of Josie and Beck!! What in the world happened in the past that has kept them apart and will they have a happy ending? In true Serenity Woods style, this book tugs at the heartstrings! Enough time passes that Josie is able to release the pain of the past and open her heart to Beck. It’s really beautiful to see the couple come back to each other and I love how Beck is so in tune with Josie’s feelings. Really tender and beautiful conclusion to this series. And you won’t be disappointed with the steamy scenes! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this story.

I've been waiting for Between You, Me, and the Bedpost ever since the first book in the series, A Secret Between Friends.

This book took on some hard topics: divorce, pregnancy troubles and moving on while the family you love stays behind. Even with their troubles, I thought Beck and Josie had a lot to fight for, but only Beck kept trying while they were apart. The closer they got to finalizing their divorce, even Beck had to face facts that Josie wouldn't have him anymore.

Unfortunately, this was a hard one for me. I didn't really like Josie for a good portion of the book. While I can't really understand the trauma of a miscarriage, I was disappointed in her behavior. When Beck and Josie separated, everyone presumed Beck had done something to merit the split and Josie let their friends go on believing the worst about him. She acted as if it was a mutual decision to split up, but she was the one who moved out and started divorce proceedings.

Josie's heartbroken when she realizes Beck is forcing himself to move on and her marriage may truly be over. Even though I was still deciding how I felt about her, I didn't think she deserved to be unhappy. That unhappiness was a natural consequence of her actions.

Once Beck and Josie owned up to the tragedy of the miscarriage and the fact that they didn't want their relationship to end, the book took a huge turn for the better. I was shocked and pleased to hear them discuss their future like adults. They started speaking plainly about what they each wanted and found common ground they could both comfortably stand on.

I am so happy to finally get Josie and Beck's story. I've been wondering what happened between them. To read that it was something that so many couples deal with was great. Their story is something that I could relate to on some levels, and I think a lot of people will be able to as well. It shows that not all romances are sunshine and sparkle, that there are dark times.
The growth that the characters had was wonderful as they both came to realize things about themselves and their relationship. It was a well-deserved HEA, and not just for Josie and Beck as a couple, but for the series as well.

I’ve been waiting for Beck and Josie’s story in the Between the Sheets series by Serenity Woods, and this story was everything I hoped it would be. This is a wonderful second chance at love story. Beck and Josie are still in love with each other, despite their impending divorce. Can they overcome what has happened in the past and achieve their HEA?

All of the characters in this series feel like real, people, who make you want to root for them. They all have flaws, and even though their HEA might not be typical of all romance novels, they are extremely satisfying.

I think it would be safe to say that everyone was looking forward to Beck and Josie's story. It did not disappoint. We finally found out what happened to cause their marriage to end. Beck was still holding out for Josie to come around and be able to move on, but it never happened. It was such a relief to both of them to finally open up to their friends and tell them what happened. It also helped their relationship more too. On the night of their friends wedding, a few drinks and some dancing equaled a night to remember. I really enjoyed the book.

Finally we get to find out what really happened between Beck and Josie. This was one of my favorites of the five Between the Sheets books because the reasons behind the breakup we're so understandable. I won't go into depth because I don't want to give spoilers.

The story was sweet, tender, hot as fire, and so real. I finally got to know Beck and he is one smoking Kiwi. Their little son was darling, and Josie was a woman with a lot of pain.

Coming back to Blue Penguin Bay and all the characters from the other books was a delight. Wrapping yourself up in these people's lives for a while is a real treasure.

LOVED, LOVED this book! Can I say ‘LOVED’ again? Another amazing one by Serenity Woods and totally worth the wait! We finally find out why Beck and Josie broke up and boy was I surprised!! As with many of her incredible books, Ms Woods taps into the reality of everyday life, and the varied emotional stresses that test relationships everyday. I loved the honesty of this book, and the humility shown by the hero and heroine. Ms Woods writing is certainly an indelible part of our generation

Sexy Second Chance Romance

The Hero and Heroine lose a baby and they tell no one.. The heroine, a psychologist, sinks into a depression and essentially runs off her husband. They live 5 minutes from each other because he helps with care of his son. After 3years separation, they are a week from the final divorce decree. Then the story starts. It seemed as if the Hero made all of the concessions to try to prevent the divorce. The heroine needed to see someone about depression. I don't think this was one of Serenity Woods best books.

Love Conquers Pain.
I, along with many other readers I am sure, have been rooting for Beck and Josie to get back together. I am so glad the author didn’t decide to give them new love interests. Instead this was a book about overcoming tragedy and pain, coming through to the light on the other side; family and love.

Good read.

This is quite an emotional story. Beck and Josie are so broken after their loss, she moves out and pushes Beck away. They have a turning point with two weeks left before the divorce. Through the series you have been rooting for them to get back together. They needed the time to communicate and be honest with themselves and each other.
