When I saw her bite into that apple, I knew she would be my original sin.

My face and body bear the memories of a fire meant to destroy me. But though my life as the scarred Bastard Prince has been its own sort of hell, my eyes have looked upon heaven.

And heaven’s name is Iris.

I keep myself hidden, watching her from behind my mask. I’m a monster to be kept in the shadows, and in turn the shadows have been my friend.

When she finally sees me, she doesn’t see the monster. She sees the man. And I know I can never let her go.

But fate is a cruel mistress, and when Iris is taken from me, I must put my grief aside. Revenge is my new purpose. Even if I have to take it out on my own family.

Loyalty be damned. My mask is off. The monster is free.

May God have mercy on the souls of those that choose to harm what is mine. Because I will not.

Readers: The second standalone book in the Royally Hot series is here. A bit darker, so if you don’t fancy some heat in the dungeon with bound wrists and a strong hand around a throat, this may not be the fairytale for you. If you do, you’ll be assured a dominant prince that finds his forever and will burn down kingdoms to secure what is his. Safe, no cheating and a happily ever after—even when it feels like all hope is lost.

Note:  This story was previously published as Masked Prince. It has since been recovered, reedited in parts, rewritten in parts, bonus additional epilogue added and minor plot points tweaked throughout. The main storyline and characters remain the same.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve made up stories. I would lay in my bed at night and before I knew what a trope was, I would make up these trope filled stories. Boy sees girl, boys falls for girl, boy saves girl….happily ever after. As I got older, the stories turned steamier and more intricate, but the basics never changed.

Now, my books are still full of romance but the naughty bits are naughtier, my hero’s are obsessed alpha types and my heroines are quirky, real women who come in all shapes and sizes.

So, sit back, banish the real world and get lost in some over the top romance with a heaping helping of hot. xoxoxo

Shortish book that started off really interesting and then out of nowhere Randal succumbs to his obsession in a really weird way and Iris just goes along with it. It was jarring and really sloppy plotting. Additionally, I couldn't really get on board for the H being all Alpha bad ass because he does nothing about his stepmother even after she tells him she sent her goons to rape and kill Iris.

I do love that Randal peppers his sentences with cursing like most of the military men I know.

Once Randal has Iris where he wants her, the deep dive into bdsm was sexy but at the same time I never really bought into it because it just seemed too much to ask of a naive, innocent country girl in the way that he demanded it.

There were plot drivers that made me scratch my head and while I'm open to a lot of things, lactophilia isn't one of them and that just finished off the book for me on a negative feeling.

The Masked Prince (Fated Royals, #2) by Dani Wyatt & Nikolai Andrew

HERO - Randal. Prince of Aramoor. Short-cropped dark hair and blue-green eyes. Burn scars on his neck and one cheek as well as a great deal of his body. Scar that cuts through one eyebrow, across his forehead and into his hairline. Stands three heads taller than most men, with shoulders twice as wide.

HEROINE - Iris. Milkmaid at Millstone Freehold Farm. Long blonde hair and dark eyes.

OVERALL THOUGHTS - One of the first things I wondered before starting this book was, does it connect to the first one at all? Turns out, it does. Prince Randal is a descendant of Sarah and Bors from The Stolen Princess. We’re now several generations later, their story now the stuff of legends, and their children eventually formed kingdoms of their own. I have to admit, I was a little bummed to read that because I don’t like hearing that the previous H/h have passed on, you know? Another thing I noted in my review of the first book was that while Sarah and Bors had three children, they were trying for a fourth. Well, I guess that never happened because Randal’s crest contains a crescent moon and three stars signifying the stolen princess and her three children. Guess that fourth one never came. ~SIGH~

I guess I liked this one about as much as the first one. Maybe slightly more since there was a lot less attempted rape this time around. Both Iris and Randal were well-developed characters, though Randal seemed to think about sex at the most inappropriate times, like . Weird choices, but okay. He also went from a lovesick sweet guy to hardcore BDSM master lightning fast. There was no easing her into things. That just felt strange to me, especially considering what had happened right before that with her father. It seemed like there should have been at least one scene bridging those two events.

My biggest issue this time around was Randal’s father who refused to acknowledge the horrific things the Queen had done in her past . Just rumors, is what the father would always say. I was also frustrated that Randal never turned her in for the one thing the King would actually sentence her to death for - sleeping around on him. Considering she was , killing her would have done a lot more good than harm in the end, I figure.

Another nitpick I have is the farm that Iris loves so much. In the days after being whisked away by Randal after an attack, Iris isn’t mentioned to have thought about the farm at all. She never asks who’s caring for the animals. She never asks about her father. Sure, maybe the conversation happened off page, but enquiring readers want to know, too! Poor Nellie the cow is never mentioned again after the attack. I don’t know, maybe I missed it?

I don’t think these books are for me. I’m always intrigued by the plotlines and the writing is good, but I always feel like something is off. Like the pacing gets weird, or characters are dropped (like, what happened to the girl that led Iris to the Queen and then lied to Randal?), or characters’ actions don’t make sense...I could go on. Maybe it’s part of the downside of two authors working on the same book. I already love a lot of Dani's contemporary works, but I'm curious to read a solo project from Nikolai. Maybe I'll really like it and it's just this series that isn't clicking for me.

The third book is already out, but I just don’t know if I want to read it. Having read the first two and feeling so-so about them doesn’t give me confidence that the next one will blow me away.

I was cautious about this story, as I don't really enjoy historic reads but although this book is set in olden days the language is very much 21st century and I absolutely loved it.
Iris is a simple girl who meets Randal and believes he is a carpenter who has come to help her with the farm.
Instant attraction and impulse drives this couple together. But of course there are circumstances trying to drive them apart. And the age old battle of whether love can conquer all is the question?

– Historical setting
– Scarred H
– No cheating or OW/OM drama
– HEA ending + epilogue

MASKED PRINCE is a beautifully written book about Iris and Randal , the masked prince, who hid his identity to the world and refused to take on his role.
Loved this book! It has a fairy tale feel to it just like the The Stolen Princess , but it's such a dreamy read with an against all odds/ love conquers all theme. I'm gonna be following this series of standalones.

I have received and read an advance copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared.

Part two of the Fated royals series, this can be read as standalone.

More than with the first book, with this one you can see the Dani and Nikolai's colab style getting more pronounced, and it's all in the action and the characters' portrayal. I am grateful to have received an advanced reader copy of it.

This is the story of Randal and his obsession for a milkmaid, Iris, whom he spotted on a farvest festival. Faith grants him the chance that to get closer to her, after one year and a half of lusting from afar. But as their relationship takes shape, duty calls him and their love story takes a new turn as his identity places them in a middle of a royal drama.

In this book, and faithful to its bdsm scenes, a lot of feelings are heightened, there is a lot of action going on, and to their core, the characters are either on the good side or on the bad side, though there are a couple of nuances to this.

There were a couple of moments I didn't find very comfortable, but I liked a lot about this book. It felt very fast paced, with a lot of action for a short book. I adored the fairytale details that transpare in the story and how they are just hinted and take a life of their own. And most of all, the way the hero and the heroine feel about each other. How she sees the best in him and fully trusts him and how he obsessively protects and loves her. This never gets old and I love finding these traits very well written.

A great short read for a quick dirty fairytale fix.

Dani Wyatt and Nikolai Andrew have absolutely done it once again with Masked Prince! I knew it was going to be delicious and dirty, and they exceeded my expectations!
Iris and Randal had me hooked from the start. Randal, stalwart, strong, unable to see who he really is, and how others view him, the good in him. Iris, stoic, carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, and yet beautiful in both body and mind, something that Randal sees in her.
Though there are numerous obstacles to overcome, some visible, some invisible, the sheer chemistry is palpable between the two, and I adored as they found exactly what they needed and deserved in life in one another. At least, that is how it seemed it would play out, but there always needs to be a bit of drama in a story, right?
Randal is devious and deviant, Iris is his perfect match. Will they get the chance to see how that plays out forever? I guess you'll have to read it to find out so that you can enjoy that tall, cool glass of ice water that you'll need, just like I did!
P. S. I cannot wait for the next in the series!

This was a great addition to the Fated Royals series. in this one Randal the Bastard Prince who was burned when he was a child knows how to stick to the shadows and stay unnoticed. But when he sees Iris at the Harvest Festival he knows that she is the woman that was meant to be his. Finding the right time to approach her has been the issue. Fate steps in and gives him the perfect opportunity, caring for Iris while injured is exactly where Randal wants to be. When Evil appears and tries to not only take away Randal's father, but also his Iris the kingdom will see how much of a monster he can truly be. I Love the connection and relationship that Iris and Randal have they were truly made for each other. Great Read! Can't wait for the next release!!

Though the scarred face of the prince is covered in the castle, he has freedom to roam the kingdom anonymously stalking the woman he has fallen in love with. She sees beyond his scars to know the beauty within. Little does she know that the current queen is a danger to him, herself and the kingdom.
This nail-biter will have you skipping meals,on the edge of your seat. There is an abundance of coarse language but if you can look beyond that you will be rewarded with a steamy, exciting and never to be forgotten story that reminds us that we should look beyond appearances and see the truth in people.

DNF (spoilers)

This book had a lot of promise but didn’t work for me. This is the first book by Dani I’ve had an issue with so it’s disappointing. The thing that threw me off is the fact that soon after the h is attacked and goes through a traumatic experience, the H goes right into a dominating sexual situation. Keeping in mind she’s a virgin and has just experienced some scary, life altering stuff it was just out of place for me. There was no time for her to process or discuss what happened. He saved her and took her directly to a bdsm dungeon. Maybe there was some healing there but idk because that’s where I stopped. It just wasn’t logical to me.

OMG! I loved this book! Iris and Randell were absolutely amazing together! This was a little darker than the first book in the series but just as amazing! The drama in this book was fantastic and keep its hook in me that it was so hard to put it down! The passion and love in this book was overwhelming perfection! I can not wait to see what these two awe-inspiring and sensational authors come up with next together! I highly recommend this book and these two authors!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Loved this beast of a story!!!

Randel was the Masked Prince, all because his stepmother the Queen tried to burn him alive when he was a baby. Rumors said she was responsible for his mother's death as well. Randel saw Iris at a festival and has wanted her ever since, but with his father's failing health he may not be able to be the the simple milkmaid because his father wanted him to become the King and rule the Kingdom. Of course his awful stepmother hated him and felt she deserved to rule the Kingdom. This is a wonderful story and I highly recommend it!

I love a good twist and this story definitely has it. Randal is a bastard son of the king, scarred and living as much in hiding as he can. Iris is the beautiful milkmaid/farm girl he's obsessed with. When Randal comes upon Iris in distress he decided that he has to be a part of her life. But when his own life comes back around what will happen?

This story includes an evil queen which automatically makes it super awesome.

You won't be sorry you read this steamy tale. I received a copy for review

Mixed feelings

I received an ARC for an unbiased review.

I really don't know if I like the Masked Prince of not. It starts as a sweet story of courting, secret identity, and instant attraction. However, then takes a 'bipolar ' turn at chapter 9 when it turns very dark and uncomfortable before going back to more romantic at the end. It's only the 2nd collaboration between Dani and Nicolai so I'll wait to are how the rest of the series goes.

Absolutely LOVED Masked Prince, the second book in the Fated Royals series! Each book of standalone in the series by Dani Wyatt and Nikolai Andrew.

Randal and Iris were definitely fated for each other. I don't think anyone else could have softened Randal's hard edges.

This book is definitely a bit darker than the first book. It pushes the boundaries but in a way that makes you want to keep coming back. Can't wait for the next one!

Beautiful story

This book really built onto the beauty of the first story. I loved how strong Iris was in her submission and how well Randal and Iris connected in and out of the throws of passion. It also felt very pure hearted that Iris never once blamed any of what happened on Randal. Gotta say his omission of His life did drive me crazy though. A little explaining could have went a long way.

Iris and Randal

Amazing reas. Randal has part of his face disfigured by a fire. He walks i the shadows hiding until he sees Iris. It takes him over a year to finally approach her and when he does she is everything he ever wanted. But Randal has a secret that will threatened everything he holds dear including Iris. Great plot, likeable characters and red hot romance. Highly recommended

I really liked this story up until Randal went all bdsm sex dungeon on her. That was a little weird and seemed out of character. If it had been just a little less intense I might have accepted the turn in character, but as it was, he went from obsessed, possessive, and over the top cherishing to “let me restrain you and whip you to show my love.” It was kinda weird. But add in an evil queen and it all ended up okay!

I really enjoyed Randal and Iris. The BDSM factor was a little deeper/darker than Dani Wyatt’s normal but still great none the less. I enjoyed the character and relationship development as well as the drama that made me no want to put the book down.

A strong dark alpha male with a tormented past. So domineering you don't know if you want to slap him or beg for more. Dungeons have never been more fun! Definitely worth reading......more than once!
