Beloved artist Worry Lines shares a sweetly funny and deeply relatable illustrated story about hope, worry, and chocolate chip cookies.Worry Lines has captured hearts around the world by posting daily drawings on Instagram. In this book, Worry Lines interweaves these fan-favorites into an entirely new story about the making of the book itself. Charting the creative process from its anxiety-riddled beginning to its (hopefully) hopeful end, This Book Is for You is a charming and honest portrait of worry. This book is for you if you A Brave Worrier (BW)2. An Absolute Legend (AL)3. Anywhere from Mildly Concerned About Something (MCAS) to Deeply Anxious About Everything (DAAE)
I find myself worrying quite a lot and the instagram posts by Worry Lines and now also their book bring more playfulness in my life and helps me to deal with the worries I experience. I am very glad to have found this artist and to have ordered their book!
I bonded with each page, each section, “me” “worry” and “hope”. It was a perfect fit.
When your feelings are heavy, I found the simplicity of Worry Lines designs and messaging to lighten the load a bit.
The use of humor was gentle enough, it didn’t feel overdone. It was as the title says “mildly uplifting”, just enough to take the deep breathe you may need.
Thank you Random House for gifting me a copy of this likeable illustrated book. (not saying illustrated books aren’t likeable, just saying that I found this one likeable and relatable…there is my worry again, excuse me worry you’re not helping here)
Pro tip: this book works great with ice cream. When I ordered it I was expecting it to be just a collection of drawings I had mostly already seen, but because I love Worry Lines art so much that was enough for me to get it. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there's an overarching narrative binding these drawings together, which in itself is very cute, witty, and funny. It made me chuckle and "aawwww" and then I went and ordered this book for a friend.
This graphic novel is like a big warm hug (as the cover suggests). It follows a little figurine (essentially all of us) conversing with his inner voice 'Worry' while in search of 'Hope'.
I love the cute and meaningful drawings. The book is also filled with innermost thoughts that have definitely crossed all our minds as well as uplifting affirmations. It's surprisingly raw and honest, but also funny and deeply relatable.
The perfect read for anyone who has ever struggled with self-doubt and anxiety, but I highly recommend it to everyone!
After all, we're all just making it up as we go along (Page 147) ❤️
I did find this book mildly uplifting. Thank you <3
In graphically-intense book, the protagonist converses with hope and worry. This protagonist reviews some past work and shares a lot of feelings while worry adds some anxiety to the conversation.
This book is rather like a hug, though not a reassuring one. It's more of an empathetic hug. And sometimes, like today, that's exactly what I need.
Definitely an uplifting book. The funny characters, the beautiful illustrations and the top notch quotes, the whole combo is just so good. It's a very fast-paced book mainly of drawings in which the author shares relatable daily basis situations. Really enjoyed every single part I feel like its a cute book ti reread from time to time whenever you feel kind of down and need some boost to keep going. As it says "this book is for you" !
If you are considering owning just one book, I recommend it be that one. And if you are considering doubling your library, then perhaps another copy of it.
I follow worry__lines on instagram (notice it’s two “_” of those). I’ve always liked their simple drawings, because I feel they carry big messages even in their simplicity. I looked for this book everywhere and I’m glad I finally found it. It’s a nice hardcover with great quality pages and print.
The content itself is great. I hadn’t seen any of these in their instagram, although some are similar ideas, it still feels all new. It’s organized by chapters (which are little books themselves) and there is a story throughout that introduces each new “book” and topic. The story is basically about the author’s struggles with Worry (a blue character) and their interactions with Hope (a yellow character) as they write the book.
THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. YES YOU. wowow such a great reading experience but the only thing is that it ended too fast, I NEED MORE!! 🥺
no doubt that @worry__lines is one of my fave artists - i absolutely love everything & honestly...this book is really for me??? just like the book cover itself, felt like i was getting a warm hug after reading it ✨ also felt like it came at the right time, thank u 4 the serotonin boost 🌱 very glad to be able to pick it up anytime whenever i need it!! if you have been following @worry__lines contents, its definitely still a must to get this one on your shelf 📚💚
So simple, yet so impactful. As someone who struggles with the tribulations of mental illness, this book made me feel much less alone in what often times makes me feel very isolated. It is sweet, gentle and adorably relatable. I thought I would just use this book as a coffee table piece, that would occasionally brighten someone’s day, but the night I bought it - I read the entire thing and it pains me to think I wasn’t intending on doing so in the first place! An absolute joy.
I’ve been following this account on Instagram for awhile and have always loved the content because I relate to it profoundly. I am so happy to have this book in my collection and have a feeling I will be rereading it quite often.
This book is for you, but not for me.
Cutest book there is! Such a sweet little book (which you can finish reading in half an hour). Its about mental health and how to deal with everyday stresses of life. Funny, quirky book.
I saw this book at Target. Read a few pages and then bought it for a friend who struggles with anxiety and not being “good enough “. She loved it and has shared it with her boyfriend, best friend and mom. When she’s struggling, I remind her to reread it.
A few weeks later I bought a copy for myself. It’s such a wonderful reminder that we are enough. That others struggle with this concept too. That others have anxiety but it can be over come. Plus it has cute drawings!
I had never heard of Worry Lines before, but the cover caught my eye one day at the library. It almost seemed to say, "You need this right now."
And I did. It's just an incredibly sweet and amusing collection of doodles in a very simplistic form. Some scenes hit home hard with me while others were just okay.
I did think that the doodles were better suited in their original Instagram posts (it just seemed like the proper format for it rather than collected in a book). But by the time I flipped to the last page, I thought, "You know what? I did find this mildly uplifting." So if you're looking for a small pick-me-up, then settled in with this.
