A short book that really puts into perspective the actual events that really happened during those heady days of the "Wild" West.
It's such a shame that the civilised tribes - those that welcomed settlers in which to trade and integrate with - had to get caught up in the unnecessary violence that occurred during those times.
The times of "Manifest Destiny". A term only coined to hide the real reasons of the Anglo-American plundering of the American resources. As usual, money and greed were the real reasons behind this issue. Sad in lots of ways.
A very well written short summary of some of the main characters who made this brief period off American history so renowned. It manages to remove most of the romantised notions we have taken for granted for so long, yet still succeeds in retaining its fascination.
More reiteration of old myths of outlaws turned to heroes who were merely taking advantage of no or poor law enforcement, and white settlers who actively participated in the mass genocide of the indigenous population
