Deep Heart is book 1 in the Killere Motorcycle Club and another enjoyable read by this author. I have to say this author definitely has a formula that works for me and keeps me coming back. This story is about an 8 year old girl Willow who is growing up in an MC with an abusive Dad and an addict Mom. She meets 26 year old Onyx who is from a different club. She is immediately drawn to his kindness towards her and tells him a secret that she plans to run away. Fast forward Willow is now 16 and she searches out Onyx with information important to him in exchange for a job and a place to stay. From here she grows up and eventually becomes Onyx's old lady. Overall, another enjoyable book from this author.
3.5 stars rounded up because the first 35 percent was so good. The mcs get together at that point and the rest is page filler. They meet very briefly when she is 8 and he is 34. She’s crying because her Dad is abusive to both the fmc and her mother. He’s the VP. Onyx is in a rival MCC. She says she gonna run away but he tells her not to rush it. He gives her his onyx ring and gives her advice that she lives by. When she’s 16 she runs away from The abuse. She finds the H and gives him information regarding merch that was stolen from his club. She asks for room and board and a job. She lives at the motel Owned by the club and cleans rooms. Willow pines for Onyx and watches as he parades hook ups in and out of his room for 4 years. When she’s almost 20 She’s had enough she’s crazy in love with him and they have it out and finally get together. Then stuff happens to fill Pages. I did like the story but I found the story choppy and lacking cohesiveness. It was constantly set up Like something exciting was going to happen and then all that was dropped and mundane life is happening… weird.. it was almost like the authorlost her way after she let the characters hook up and it fizzled.

I loved this one. It was amazing. I loved how age doesn't matter and they fell in love anyway. I also love when families get reunited. I can't wait to read the next book.
Low 3 stars. Second book by this author and I can now confidently say that she's just not for me. The flow and writing style doesn't work for me. It reads as sort of snippets of their lives. They first meet when Willow is about 8 years old, then again when she's 16. There's several time jumps throughout the whole book, sometimes 3 months, a year, etc... I kept thinking that when we finally get to present day and they hook up, that's when the story will really flesh out---but nope. It's the same vibe the whole way through. This isn't really a romance to me because by the time one chapter ends and another begins, we're just supposed to know that of course Onyx is in love with Willow, and of course he knows she loves him. That whole year+ time jump left us out of all the important bits. The plot---if you can call it that---meandered around and I was never sure where this was going or what the point was. I'm sure many people like this style of writing, just not for me is all I'm saying.
This is a great book. The story telling is supreme. Willow and Onyx meet when she is having a bad day at the age of eight. That one moment of kindness makes such an impression that she takes him information she overhears to keep him safe. Not wanting to return home he helps her with a place to sleep and a job. The slow build up of danger and drama make this a great story. Family is who you make.
« Comment t'appelles-tu ? »
"Onyx."
"C'est ton vrai nom ou le nom de ta rue ?"
"Nom de la route."
"Quel est ton vrai nom ?"
« Troy Stone. » Il alluma une cigarette.
Elle se balança à travers la fumée. « Quel âge as-tu ? »
"Vieux."
Elle rit. « Je sais. Mais quel âge ? »
« Trente-quatre. »
« Personne, Willow », murmura Onyx.
Elle lui a murmuré en retour : « Tu peux me faire confiance. Pour toujours et à jamais. » 🖋
Only because I had to give it a star did it get one. I was very upset I had to pay for this book. The story line was all over the place years would pass in pages with out any knowing of what was going on. I’ve read better books for free. It could of been a great book..
I remember reading this awhile back and enjoying it to a degree. I delved back in recently but immediately got a huge ICK factor when the hero is like.... 20 years older than her and he met her briefly when she was a child. Like a CHILD child. They also start up their romance when she's SIXTEEN.
I think initially the first reading I was probably skipping through the finer details for the more smutty bits, which are great mind you but god I could not get over the fact she's a literal teenager.
And the author tries to make it seem ok cause she's not a virgin and she's had a rough childhood so she's "tough and older than she is" and I just... can't?? That made it worse for me? I felt more like she was falling back into old habits, settling in a place she was familiar with cause it's all she knew. He was also in a position where he had full control to coerce her even just subconsciously; he was her boss, her only form of income and safety, and the one who could kick her out if he felt like it. It was hard to feel like this relationship was consensual when you put everything together.
I think I don't mind huge age gaps when it's not someone under 20 whose whole life and well-being depends on the older partner. And when it's just smut with no plot, I can separate myself from the morality of it all when the book isn't a 250+ page story with allusions to abuse, manipulation, and power dynamics.
Anyway unlikely to read again. If you like older (very much so) man and younger woman (16-18) relationships you'll like this. Lots of violence and mc life and references to abuse/assault though so be warned.
Deep Heart by Debra Kayn. We meet Onyx and Willow. DK is the QUEEN of the MC world! Another great hit Queen!
**Warning Age Gap between hero and heroine**
First time they meet is when Willow is 8 years old and Onyx is 34 years old by a swingset, Willow had just left home after her dad was angry shoved her and fought with her mom. So she went to the swings to cry. Willow was born into MC world but her childhood was real bad. Onxy was part of an MC but he trusted no one. There was this connection between them.
Willow - "Can I trust you?" Onyx - "As long as you keep that ring and don't lose it, you can trust me."
Fast forward 8 years later.... they meet again after Onyx is release from prison and she brings him some important info....and the ride begins for these two. The age gap bothered Onyx until her almost 20th birthday....
As I do with all Debra's books, I love to savor them....this story was no exception. I was captivated from page one. This story had great world and character building. Debra has a unique writing style which brings the feelings off the page and you're feeling as the character...Looking forward to more... which I hope we get 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Why is there a connection? What info did Willow have? Do they get together? HEA? ReAd and get your answers.
Surprisingly good. New author for me, and a realistic portrayal of an MC. Large age gap between H and h, but no creepy crawlies for me, because he waited until she was 20 (even though they first meet when she is only 8). Lots of things I liked about this story - but maybe the biggest, was how she puts their relationship, their honesty in their relationship, and their loyalty to their MC first - always. She's young, but not stupid. Too often an author will insert pointless drama to create conflict in a relationship. In this book - no stupid drama, as there is plenty of conflict surrounding them. She knows that to be what he needs in the MC life, she has to set some things aside, and so she becomes the one thing he can always trust and believe in. He comes to depend on that, and need it in order to function as the President where he has to make tough decisions day in and day out. I like how she considers the MC her family, and makes decisions based on that. The one thing that affected my enjoyment of this book, and it was minor, was how the author skipped some significant time periods between chapters, without any warning to the reader. One chapter she was 17, the next she was 18. One chapter Vega was pregnant, the next chapter she has a toddler. One chapter he's living in the hotel, then the next he's moving into the compound. Somewhat confusing.
This story jumps sometimes ahead at times without notice and your thinking how old is Willow now. You keep wondering because it is kind of based on her coming to age so they can get together and you kind of wait for that but when it gets to that part I'm kind of like finally and gross at the same time because he slept with all those girls who work for the club and they sleep with the MC and truckers coming through. Gross ppl. Ever hear of herps. That could be anywhere. Mouth, cooch, Blah. Doesn't matter if he always wrapped it up. Make him get a test first. The part where he makes Willow crawl across the table to him, I'm thinking, why don't you put a leash on her neck and make her sit on the floor next to your chair with a bowl of water in a dog bowl lol. After they do get together the book is about 31% into it but I kept thinking what are they going to do now besides go after Mad Dog which took forever to get to that and I was a bit bored at that point. I might try another book, I will see.
Willow wants to be wanted. Being loved would be a bonus to that. When life became one disappointment after another, she ran. Straight to a man who she met when she was 8. Onyx, lives life at full throttle with women, a!cool and trusted men. When his nemesis is responsible for his father's death he vows vengeance. But then he sees Willow and she tells him where to find his father's killer, her own. The drama, the push and pull of the age gap, the guarantee of the ever after make this book a winner!
Onyx becomes president of Killere MC after his father's murder. After spending eighteen months in prison, he returns to his brothers with revenge on his mind. But the arrival of Willow, an innocent teenager seeking protection, changes everything and offers him hope for the future. Willow has never forgotten Onyx, and can't hide the love and admiration she feels for him. Their bond gives them strength to overcome their painful past! Onyx is a fascinating and passionate man, Willow patient and admirable. Deep Heart is the action-packed and breathtaking beginning of a new MC series!
Debra has done it again. It’s a really great age gap story. Willow meets Onyx when she is too young and living a horrible life. He gives her a ring that she kept and gave her hope for something better. She finally finds Onyx when she is still too young but he hires her to work for MC and keeps an eye on her. Once she comes of ages, things change. This story is a roller coaster of emotions and secrets. The MC is loyal, they love hard and about family. Lots of steamy love scenes. Can’t wait to who she writes about from the Killere MC next.
I always feel a little drained after reading Debra Kayn’s MC books. She is masterful at painting a world that you become emotionally invested in. By the end, you feel liked you’ve walked a mile in the characters’ shoes. Some of those miles are really difficult but you are rewarded in the end with a depth of understanding and empathy that is rarely achieved.
Loved the progression of Willow and Onyx’s relationship. Really well done. The supporting characters add a lot to the story as well.
I love it when an author spins a tale and has you so wrapped up in the storyline you feel as you're there and you forget the "real" world around you. An age gap trope that has drama, MC characters and lots of hot scenes. Onyx and Willow are both no stranger to painful pasts, heartache and lies. They have an emotional connection and a sense of trust from their first meeting. What starts out as friendship grows into so much more.
I LOVE an age gap story and this author provided an phenomenal age gap read in the very first book in this new series. Willow and Onyx are a lifetime apart in age but in love, there are no boundaries. This book had me completely and utterly wrapped up from page 1. I love their story! It's filled with so much emotion and I felt all of it. Every heartbreak, every triumph and every ounce of love and respect between all of these characters. What a truly beautiful journey this has been.
I highly recommend this book. A few words about the story. Willow has a very rough life, nobody cares about her. One day she meets Onyx and her life changes. He gives her hope. Will she escape the evil Mad Jacks? Will she find her happy life? What are you waiting for? Buy the book and find out. I thought it was excellent. I recommend all of Debra Kayn's books such a talented author.
I enjoyed this one. The relationship advanced at an acceptable speed as she was much younger. I loved that Willow just knew he was the one for her. Onyx really cared about everyone and had a lot on his shoulders. Once the line was crossed there was no stopping these two. I did guess which was a story line between Willow and another character was going to go but still loved reading it play out.
Great book, good story and I loved Onyx. I wish Willow had been a bit older but that’s only because I prefer my h to be a bit farther out of her teens. The story was good and I liked the peripheral characters a lot and hope Vega gets a book and her own HEA. Aside from a few continuity issues in reference to age and Onyx’s time in prison I have no complaints and highly recommend this book.
This was an epic story of the beginning to a new series from Debra! She never fails to deliver a story that will eat you up full of emotions. This was also an age gap trope which is a fave. Onyx and Willow make a striking couple once Onyx quits being a jerk. There's loads of drama with lots of sexy scenes too. So very entertaining! Great read!
Make sure you don't need to get anything done for the rest of the day if you are going to start reading this book. You are not going to want to put it down. Debra Kayn is the queen of MC books and this one doesn't disappoint. I just finished this book and already I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I love Debra’s style of writing for MC books and I adored the love between Willow and Onyx.
I was a bit lost with the time span at the beginning because their was no indication of how many years passed besides mentioning how old Willow was etc.
Other than that, I am looking forward to seeing how the world of Killiere expands with the way it ended in this book! 🤍
Debra has done it again with her new MC series. Willow and Onyx's story starts when she is 8 and he is 34. They have a chance meeting when Willow was having a bad day. This day a friendship starts between the two of them and over the course of the story this friendship grows into so much more. This story will draw you in and take you on a ride full of emotions, drama and secrets will be revealed. This was a great beginning to the new series and can't wait to see what comes next!
Complex with a good bit of characters to remember. It has a very simple plot with twists you can see but still are unsure how to proceed because you are so unsure about what you're thinking. Miss Kayn delivers in her usual flair and style. It begins not so subtlety but ends with you soaring. Thank you! I can't wait to see what happens next!
This was an awesome read. The story left me guessing a lot of what was going on and then it all came together in the middle, the time when the child was taken and how old Willow was. I'm glad she and her dad get a new life together and will make really good memories together. On to the next adventure!💙💚😉
After read8ng all kristen ashley and Jaime begley I had a hard time finding a book that kept my interest with well written hot sex scenes. This book had it all and kept my interest till the end with a shock at the end. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
The ending of this was the ending I had hoped for more than a few characters. This book touches on many levels of life & love & doing what is moral . In the wake of hero worship & crushes. For some destiny will find a way. For those that are still seeking their savior all we can do is pray.
This story, like all of Debra Kayn's stories, will have you rooting for the most unlikely heroes. I honestly don't know why she still manages to surprise me. But I loved this book and can't wait for the next one!!!
I loved this story of Willow and Onyx. New characters are wonderful to get to know! The twist crept up and knocked me over the head and gave me the feels. Written in true Debra's style, this book is well worth reading and I recommend it.
