This collection of 3 novellas is good for fans of Nina Bangs and MaryJanice Davidson as well as Janelle Denison. There are 2 paranormal romance stories and 1 straight romance story (by Denison) that take place on/near the beach. The Nina Bangs novella takes place before My Wicked Vampire (spoiler alert!) before Taurin finds his brother. We are introduced to a new kind of were-creature, but that is to be expected in the Castle of Dark Dreams series or even at the Woo-Woo Inn, a wereshark. Who by the way also makes an appearance in My Wicked Vampire. This story would have made a good full length book. It features many of the familiar characters from the Castle of Dark Dreams series as well as a few new ones. In this one, newbie cosmic troublemaker/superhero wannabe Deimos is the one who gets to cause havoc to bring together the unlikely couple. So the usual vampires, messengers of the Goddess Bast and a grouchy wizard appear as well. The MaryJanice Davidson novella is a spinoff of one of her earlier novellas featured in the Men At Work anthology. Davidson comes up with a new look at what the afterlife might be like when love is involved. Her 2 main characters from the previous story as well as the best friend of one of the main characters who becomes the main character in this story after she meets the same highly unlikely fate as (spoiler alert!!) Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. The Denison story (the 1 non paranormal story) is a nice little romance but unfortunately a little predictable about a recently divorced woman and her seriously hunky neighbor. I'm not sure why this story was included with the other 2 paranormal romances but it was a nice little story and it did introduce me to a new author to read when I'm not necessarily in the mood for paranormal story.
Hmm...let's see. An interesting read, but nothing memorable.
Hot and Bothered by Janelle Denison I picked this one up because I like Janelle Denison. It was a good, quick story...predictable and a light read. I would rate this one just warm in the heat.
Paradise Bossed by MaryJanice Davidson My first by Davidson. It was also the first paranormal I've read. It was interesting, but maybe a little too strange for me. Nikki dies at the beginning of the story and is a ghost throughout. I didn't realize this book had paranormals in it--my bad since both her and Bangs write paranormal. Barely lukewarm in heat.
Hot Summer Bites by Nina Bangs Another paranormal. Taurin is a vampire and Kristin is an investigative reporter. I wasn't sure how I would feel about a vampire-type paranormal. This one was actually well written and an okay read. Warm in heat, but definitely not burning.
I'm not sure I will be running out to buy any paranormals, but I'm not opposed to reading more...I'm mildly interested now.
Bought this for 4.98 at B&N. Some of the best books I have read I found on markdown shelves. What's up with that? But 3 short stories about hunks on teh beach. WOW!!
unexpected read with whimsical tales summer read with over worked doctors looking for love in all the wrong places one of my favortite collections of summer romances in last 10 years.
I remember eagerly waiting for this book to come out because of Ms. Davidson and Ms. Bangs. I rushed to Borders (back when it was still around - God I miss this bookstore) and bought it. It was surprisingly just okay. Not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. As the title implies, the locale involves sun, sand and some fun.
Stories 1 & 2 [#2 is a followup to a story from Men At Work:] were enjoyable and story 3 was great - it's a Nina Bangs Sparkle Stardust story [both 2 & 3 are paranormals:], Book is hot but not erotica.
I really like Mary Janice Davidson's Betsy books, so thought I would give this one a try. The short story that she contributed was fluff, and boring fluff at that. Had I not been at work reading on a break I would have given up. Since I didn't care for this story, I didn't even read the others.
A fun collection of novellas. They did not all center around the beach or the ocean like I thought they might but still a fun read from an author I love, MaryJanice Davidson, and two new-to-me authors.
HOTHOTHOT love in the summer... add some paranorm... a taste or two of series to be added to the "to be read list"... take this book to the beach, to bed, oh just READ it!!!
Janelle denison's story was good but the other to were not....they were more ghost in the past story and I couldn't get into them(MaryJanice Davidson and Nina Bangs)
My rating is purely based on Denison's story which was awesome because I'm not reading the other two. Apparently they have paranormal plots and I don't do paranormal.
