Twenty years before the events of the first book, Leavenshome Farm seems like the perfect place for a young family. When she starts to notice strange things happening in the house, she initially keeps quiet. It's not often that I rate a sequel higher than the original story but, this was definitely the case here. Book 1 of the Bait series was (I thought) a bit of a mess but, Book 2 turned out to be a first class horror/ haunted house tale. It had a well crafted plot that was both creepy and scary. Can't wait to read the final instalment.
I like this book best out of all 3 in this series. But, I will say the timeline and details don't always match up, and it's very irritating. It really takes me out of it when I know the author has issues keeping up with their own details and times. This book was the worst offender, though the 3rd one also suffers from this. The first one has issues deciding what it wants to be lore and how they fit within the setting while making sense. Also, all 3 books have several grammar and spelling errors. The overall story is fine, but the characters are all written with the same personalities recycled. Something I've noticed with just about every Amy Cross book I've read. She has a handful of personalities that she enjoys writing and just gives them sprinkles of different plots. This book is good for you if you want a quick gore book with some ghost spooks. Don't expect a masterpiece, but it is entertaining.
This is the second book in the Bait series and acts as a sort of prequel, taking place 20 years before the events of the first book. I read the first book in October last year and I liked it but I enjoyed this one a lot more. I really liked Connie as a character and I liked how she changed and grew throughout the story. This story does also touch on topics such as grief and getting closure after the unexpected death of a loved one and I really liked how they were handled. I also liked learning more about the history of the setting in this series and I am excited to see how this is going to play out in the final book. The horror scenes were also really good and the ending had me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoy this author's writing and this book was no exception and I can't wait to read the final book in this series!
Although this story was twenty years before the first book and was supposed to answer many questions, I was still left with many more. It was certainly gruesome and spooky.
It was fast-paced with a good writing style, except for the American feel, in that it was supposed to be a British story.
However, I hope the last book gives us the answers.
I wanted to thank you Amy I am looking forward to the next tale on the bait Tell you what you keep writing them and I'll keep on reading them. Sincerely christinedunne Harlingen Texas
I once again was totally absorbed by the first sequel to Bait. Origin still leaves me with so many questions. There must be a least a few answers in the next book, at least I hope so anyway. Who was this Martin character, and how did he become so evil?
Simply could not put this book down, even better than the first of the series “Bait”. I would highly recommend this series of books, Amy cross is certainly one of my favourite Authors for sure. Loved it and you will too. Lyle Paton (Addicted Amy Cross fan)
Now she is back to her own style of writing. No spoilers.here but who would buy a farm, miles from anywhere.and think they would.make it pay. Hundreds of years, hundreds of ghost Who is the really behind it all.
Amazing second book in the set, it's more of prequel story and connects perfect to the story of the first one, the way Amy Cross writes just keeps you reading and pulls you in, I cannot wait to read the third book to this set and hopefully find out how it ends ..
I was hoping this book had more action and more information but sadly I was wrong . not much happens till the end and you are still left guessing due to book three . I felt like I wasted time reading this and still know nothing .
This is a prequel to the first book in this series. I’m glad to be moving to the next Amy Cross lures the reader in, before you realize your ready for the next!
