I love this book. More than a cookbook, it is full of family stories, advice and photographs. The book is a treasure, just like Brenda Gantt. When it first arrived, I spent an hour and a half just looking at all the extra material she included. It was supposed to be one of my Christmas presents, but once I saw it I couldn't bear to part with it and wrap it up. So I started cooking instead. The Lemon Meringue pie and Chocolate Cream Pie were so good. It's simple, comfort food just like I grew up with. I've made quite a few of the recipes and have not been disappointed.

I LOVED this sweet little cookbook and collection of stories and wisdom. I followed Brenda Gantt a bit when she initially shared her cooking videos on Facebook (which is what launched her popularity.) My mother-in-law and I love to talk about Brenda Gantt; she is a household name for many people who are from Alabama! I hate the Goodreads app doesn’t have a photo for her cover…the entire book was beautiful and I was thoroughly impressed with the layout. It reminded me of The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook but more endearing and full of Bible verses and reflections and memories that the author wanted to include. I absolutely loved all the photos too. So many reminded me of parts of my childhood. And as far as the recipes, they look DELICIOUS. None of them seem ultra complicated and I can’t wait to try some soon!

I read this cover to cover as soon as I received it yesterday. What a wonderful trip down a Southern cook’s memory lane. The recipes are ones my grandmother, a great country cook, either did fix or could have. Interspersed with letters to her grandchildren and stories from the home place are recipes for appetizers, salads, entrees, side dishes, desserts and all kinds of gravy (a separate category for Southern cooks :). I loved every scripture reference and could hear my grandmother’s voice in Brenda’s quotes. What a lovely way to celebrate a life well-lived!

Brenda Gantt is a Facebook sensation in the Southern cooking world, posting videos of herself making all sorts of Southern classics. The food looks delicious and she includes personal stories and helpful hints in every video as she keeps a running commentary going as she cooks.
Now those videos have translated into this wonderful cookbook, full of her recipes and stories of her family. It is a great gift for anyone that enjoys cooking, especially Southern style. I purchased this for myself and plan to by a few more as gifts.

Highly recommended!

I'm a Brenda Gantt fan! I love her videos and got her cookbook when it was available. But it's not just a cookbook. There are stories of her life and words of wisdom and bible verses sprinkled throughout the book. It is written just like she talks! And the recipes are great. They are simple and things that anybody can make!

My mom got this cookbook for me for Christmas. Not only are the recipes that I've tried wonderful but it is filled with heartwarming stories as well. This cook book made me feel like part of the family and the biscuit recipe SLAPS. Hard.

I never thought I’d sit and read a cookbook cover to cover. But Brenda and her family pull you into their lives and love and sprinkle it with scripture and good food. Now to fix some of the recipes!
