Aliens: Join the Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life

Rate this book
Do aliens exist? Are UFOs real? The race is on to discover alien life in this perfect gift for kids who love space.

This book will sort myth from fact to bring you the real science behind the search for alien lifeforms. Space expert Joalda Morancy will take readers on a tour of the solar system (and beyond) on board new NASA missions searching for the most likely alien hiding places―from icy moons of Jupiter to the clouds of Venus. Along the way kids will find out

• The robots sent to Mars to look for Martians
• What really goes on at Area 51
• Ways to spot an advanced alien civilization (hint―look for dim stars)

In this book beautifully illustrated by Amy Grimes, readers will explore a comet, race futuristic spaceships, and discuss what we would say to aliens when we finally meet them (after “hello!”).

They may seem as fanciful as wizards and monsters, but this book will show that scientists not only believe that aliens exist―but that it’s only a matter of time before we find them.

This was SO delightful. This book is NOT a conspiracy-led work pretending to be nonfic. It cleverly uses the search for aliens as a jumping off point for teaching about the tech and science used in the hunt for alien life (which does include discussions about the pursuit of intelligent life, but mostly describes how we explore and assess other planetary environments as being suitable for some kind of basic forms of life).

The packaging of this book may seem a bit misleading, but I personally think it in itself a GREAT hook for getting kids to pick this up and learn a lot about a lot of different things. (: with gorgeous illustrations at that!!

my personal favorite spread was the segment covering Titan. <3 love that moon fr

Aliens: Join The Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life attempts to answer the question “Do Aliens Exist?” is a friendly and colorful book about the solar system. The book reads like a journey through the solar system, briefly discussing the origin of plants and animals and then methodically going through each of the planets in the solar system and debunking conspiracy theories.

Also included in Aliens: Join The Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life is a summary of the fascinating Viking Program at NASA which wanted to put spacecraft on other planets. Two brief sections introduce the rovers and landing crafts that have been on Mars and other planets.

It feels as if this book has the latest space exploration information including mentioning that as of today, scientists are researching ‘space farming’ which is growing crops in a microgravity environment.

Aliens: Join The Scientists Searching Space for Extraterrestrial Life is written in a friendly conversational tone which makes it perfect for Ages 6-9 to read. Each chapter has short paragraphs filled with pertinent information with some really cool illustrations by Amy Grimes in the background.

Gives A LOT of scientific information, theories, and poses great questions about aliens or the search for life in the universe. Personally, my students LOVE the topics of aliens, ghosts, Bigfoot, and the lochness monster. I think this book will be a hit!
