A flight from London to Dublin arrives carrying an unusual cargo – a passenger stone-cold dead in his seat.
Sergeant Fiona Moore immediately suspects foul play and forensics confirm a lethal cocktail of drugs was in the man’s system.
But Moore is left to largely tackle the case herself as her immediate boss, DI Aidan Burke, has other things on his mind – namely the attractive Swedish co-pilot, Andrea Bergin.
Investigating the victim’s business dealings and personal life, Moore finds that all was clearly not quite well with the successful lawyer.
Yet who was driven to kill him and what do they want to hide?
Another visit to Dublin and grumpy DI Burke. I did feel a bit sorry for him though as the story went on but his team was reliable and professional in spite of their personal misgivings. The thing that stands out for me is the amount of intricate detail in this book. It seems that either the author is already very knowledgeable about the subjects or his research is extensive and in-depth.
David Pearson writes stories that sweep along to satisfying conclusions and he ties them up in a neat bow at the end. I enjoy his other series for the location settings but both have really good character development and tidy plots.
This is the best book I've read so far. While I can't speak to the accuracy of the police procedures, I must say the writing was meticulous, and it seems clear the author invested a lot of time in research. It reminded me of how a detective might solve a case, as seen in movies. The first half was a bit slow for me; it took a few days to get into it, partly due to the technical details about planes, which I'm not familiar with, and I didn't immediately connect with the characters. But once I got past that, I devoured the rest of the book in one sitting. I enjoyed it immensely and kept guessing who the real culprit might be, with so many potential suspects. The case was complex enough for my liking, and I would love to read more of the author's works. The ending was also satisfying, though I was hoping they could have caught the biggest fish. Still, this book is an absolute must-read!
When a flight from Gatwick to Dublin lands with the discovery of a dead passenger, Burke and Moore are catapulted into action in the fifth of the Dublin Homicide series. Further investigation deepens the mystery when the two detectives come across a lethal cocktail of drugs in the victim's system. Rather cleverly, the author has managed to make everyone who appears in the book, a suspect, as each of them appear to have a motive. But who and why will keep the team on their toes until the final page. Plane Dead's attention to detail, good research, fast flowing prose and great characters with snappy dialogue are what make David Pearson's latest a five star read. Let's have more.
First book I've read by David Pearson. Both believable and entertaining characters. The detail of all the police procedures was very convincing even though I couldn't tell you if they were 100% accurate or not but convinced me they were true enough. The writing left me feeling the story was rushed and lacking in parts, but overall, it's a good quick read. Would I read more in the series 🤔 yes, I would indeed.
Another magnetic story form one of my favourite authors, David Pearson. This story has everything I look for in a mystery; murder, twists and fascinating characters. I thoroughly enjoy Burke and Moore as well as the seamless way Pearson weaves personality and procedure. This tale moves with surprising pace and there is never a dull moment. A must read!
Another brilliant story in the Dublin Homicides series. I love the relationship between DI Burke and Sergeant Moore, professional enough to respect each other and strong enough that Fiona can pick him up any time she thinks he needs it. In this case he has to travel from Ireland to Europe to find some of the answers. Another cannot put it down book in the series.
Irish detectives work hard to solve a couple of murders
This story w started with a passenger dying on a flight from London to Dublin, Ireland. As the detectives dug into the case they discovered the passenger was poisoned. Then the passengers wife was murdered. The investigation turned into a tangled web. Pretty good story.
I liked this entry in the series much more than the previous one. The mystery was intriguing and kept my interest throughout. The characters were good, as usual. I would have given it 5 stars, but the editing was lousy - several times, the wrong character was mentioned (Sutton when Moore was the one in the scene) along with multiple other word errors that should have been caught.
I have read all Mr. Pearson's books and they are all great reads. They put you right there in place and keep your interest. The Galway series puts me right back there. He also gives the characters a good balance of police work and good personality.
Two murders that had nothing to do with each other except that they were of a husband and a wife. A new author for me. I will look for more and wonder if there are more in this series with the same detectives.
A good read.😛well worth the read. The storyline flowed, the finish ended well.I have a few novels of the author and have enjoyed the reads of some of them.😎😎
I hate giving less than 5 stars, becausei think every book is wonderful. And I LIKE these books. It's just that the characters are so one dimensional, you don't really feel like you know them any better even in book 5. But they were good quick reads. And I like that Burke is down and dirty.
Another great story by David Pearson featuring the Irish detectives. Very well written and a really good story line. Had an extra long lie in one day over. The holidays so that I could read it in one sitting. More please.
Very entertaining from start to finish. I like the epilogue tying it all up neatly for the villains and the good guys. Will definitely read more of Pearson!
Good plot the writing was a bit unsophisticated but readable. I would read other Irish police mysteries by the author. The technical details were very interesting.
Sadly this is the first book by David Pearson that I could not persevere with. Usually, I enjoy his work but this became a DNF. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, it simply wasn't for me.
Well written, some interaction with possible suspect obvious, though all went well at the conclusion of book. Interesting and current drug distribution.
Another sequel in a great series of entertaining stories.Well written with believable characters.David Pearson smashed it again.looking forward to next book.
I love this author's imagination!! He writes such a great book. I could not put this book down, I had to finish it before I could go to sleep! It is one of my favorites in this series!
This was a suspense filled novel with twists and turns on each page. The book did allow the reader to jump to reasonable conclusions along with the investigators.
An enjoyable read. To the point crisp and simply stated narration . Look forward to reading more by the author , although I have a couple of them and enjoyed them
