“Upswing” is about how a rating app takes over a school and the community, ruining the joy of athletics and the livelihoods of those who refuse to pander to the masses for “votes.” In a world where we have reality TV that allows viewers to vote from home, this short story feels too real. I would love to see how a classroom of you g people react to this short story. I’ll tuck this one away for use in the future.

The short story “Upswing” written by T.J Resler is a mediocre story on the literary elements used. I didn't think the story was too great nor too bad.
The story is about a highschool student named A.J who plays on a baseball team he
happens to be the star player of. A rating app going around school called Rateez causes him to be replaced as the star player by one of his teammates named Jaylen. A.J learns that he has to impress the crowd like Jaylen in order to get his spot, so in his next game he does all sorts of tricks to wow the crowd. His plan works and his ratings go up, but he runs into another problem. A.J’s school is using the app to fund the sports teams, so if his team doesn’t get good ratings they will be defunded.
All around the story wasn’t too bad, the characters were great and the story had several
conflicts. However the ending kinda didn’t sit right with me personally. Other than that the story was great and incorporated great conflict and characters. The conflicts of the story were great and T.J Resler did a great job using the conflicts to progress the story. The conflict also played a big part in the character progression with A.J overcoming the conflicts he faced.
In conclusion, “Upswing” wasn’t too bad of a story. I would recommend it to people who are interested in stories that include sports and conflicts or drama.

The short story “Upswing” by T.J. Resler is a good story based on the literary elements that were used in the story.
The story is about a boy named AJ. He is a baseball player in his school, and he is considered the best player on the team. A new ranking system called Rateez is introduced to the school and AJ is low ranking. AJ learns some new skills to woo the crowd and get his rankings up. One of the games ends up being based on Rateez score instead of points earned. The whole team learns new skills, but one of the players gets hurt as a result of it. AJ learns to do what he thinks is best, and not do things just to impress others.
A good story should include drama and a good theme. T.J. Resler effectively used drama when AJ's ranking went from first to last and he became jealous. Plot twist was used when the game-winner became based on Rateez rankings, and when one of the players on AJ’s team was injured. Theme was also effectively used when AJ learned to do what he knows is best, even when under pressure.
The story “Upswing” can be considered a good story based on the literary elements used. This story should be read by others because it has a good plot and shocking twists.

The short story “Upswing” by T.J Resler is a good story based on the literary elements in the story.
The short story is about A.J and him getting mad about his teammate Jaylen having more playing time than him just because of his Ratzee score. Then he realizes something about how much more playing time he can get just by getting a higher Ratzee score. A.J eventually ends up getting a higher Ratzee score then Jaylen. He learns something very valuable at the end.
A good story should include good intro, characters and setting. T.J Resler inefficiently used a good intro. T.J Resler didn't have a good intro because it started off with no context about Ratzee and how it works.T.J Resler efficiently used characters. T.J Resler had good characters because A.J and Jaylen were really good back and forth characters. T.J Rsler efficiency used setting. T.J Resler used the setting at a baseball field and at school. Just because its at a baseball field is good for me.

The short story ¨The Upswing¨ by T.J Resler is a good story based on my literary elements that all said yes.
This short story is about a baseball player named Andre Johnson or A.J for short.He was playing baseball when he finds out that there´s this new app called ¨Rateez¨ and it rates everything that someone does. He was at 6.4 rating, when he needed higher for his spot back. He finally finds his way back to his spot by flipping his bat in the air and catching it, but then something happens for him to decide to stop doing tricks.
A good story should include a character development, good ending, and a setting. T.J Resler is amazing at effectively making sure that there is character development when A.J changes his attitude towards one thing. He also included a good ending, in the resolution when A.J figures something out. Lastly, Resler makes sure that there is a good setting, and it makes sense for the story line.

A good short story should include an interesting climax, a good introduction and a nice plot twist. T.J. Resler effectively uses an interesting climax when he has the team rematch their rivals. He also uses a good introduction effectively by doing a great job helping us know who's who in the story and by starting the story up and preparing us for the rest of the plot. And he used plot twists in a pretty effective way for the rematch, because we weren't expecting it and it was a great way for the team to come back and not get canceled.

The story “Upswing” is about a baseball game and a team that fans rate. A.J and his team go up against the Panthers, A.J’s position gets switched based on the rating the fans give him.
His opponent on the Panthers gets a better rating based on tricks he performs during the game. A.J’s team does not seem as bothered as A.J is. The team learns that if they do not get better ratings they will be replaced by another sport at the school. The team tries their best, and at the end A.J learns a great life lesson.
A good story should include a good plot twist, interesting characters, and a good theme. T.J Resler used a good plot twist in the resolution and falling action of the story. He created interesting characters with A.J changing in the end and making his character from the others. The theme was good, it had a good life lesson.
