I will not be finishing this book as I have barely made it to page 40 and have found multiple errors in the book in regards to names and information. Some of them being easy information to find and it was still incorrect in the book. The two things I have found already that bother me the most are :
1) In the book she tells the story of Ragnarok, in the book she states that Naglfar will sail with its army of giants and its captain Loki. In Norse mythology, Hrym, Rym, or Hrymer (Old Norse "decrepit") is a jötunn and the captain of the ship Naglfar.
2) when talking of Thor in the book tells of his enemy, the serpent that swims in the ocean surrounding Midgard and uses the name Jotunhund, the serpents name is said correctly just 5 pages earlier as his name is Jörmungandr.

It's easily accessible information to check and it was incorrect. Also as I flipped to the runes section I see that there is no depiction of the runes and no way to tell what runes she is talking about when giving the description.

Was not worth buying, will not be buying anything else from this author.

Me gustó la parte de la mitología, pero, cuando te habla de runas solo vienen las descripciones, no vienen las imágenes de las runas (al menos en mi edición), lo cual habría sido estupendo.

Not exactly what I was expecting because I think it falls a little short on what it proposes, but that's okay.
Perhaps too generic and unobjective.

The title I would say is misleading. There are no actual "spells" in this book, it's purely myth with a bit of divination thrown into the end. Pictures could have been more accurate. For example: Fenrir, yes he is a wolf. But there are hundreds of illustrations of Fenrir that the author could have used to demonstrate his size, power etc. Not just a normal wolf.

Good starting point for beginners, however I'm deeply interested in mythology of all cultures and this didn't give me anything I didn't already know.

This book has a lot of information about Norse mythology. It also covers the different kinds of magic that was used by the Nordic people of the past. The title is misleading. For a spell book it is missing one key element, spells. I was disappointed with the rune section as well. It gave descriptions of each rune but did not depict any of them. There was a lot of interesting information but the book was not what I expected.

Incorrect facts about the gods, and a very lazy approach to writing about paganism. Some of the terms used are terms that have been co-opted by the white supremacist movements which are unfortunately prevalent in Norse paganism specifically. I can tell the author is excited about the subject, and that’s good, but there must be further care and revision to make the book what it could be.
I will not be finishing it.

Good book

I was looking for something that went a little deeper into the Runes, and into the magic used today. This book has a few chapters that expanded on the basics, but not much more than any beginners book. It's well written and useful as an intermediate guide to Norse Magic today.

A Combination of Norse Mythology and Runelore

If the reader is looking for magical "mumbo jumbo" to bring in riches, a significant other, or to get back at a possible adversary, then this is the wrong book! However, if one is interested in history, lore, and past beliefs, then this volume could be of interest.

decent but…..

Not quite what i was expecting, the spells were in the last 1/3, covered more of the myths and history than anything. Great for starting but title is absolutely miss leading. Minor errors in some of the myths (from what I’ve already read) but gets the points across. Would I read again probably not, but worth a read once, probably.

Not what I expected

The book was not what I was expecting after reading the title of the book. With that being said it is a well written book that covers the basics. Giving the title I was expecting the book to really cover more on spells. To me the title is misleading

Enjoyed the book… Good, if brief, intro to the background of The Gods and tales etc. And some interesting ideas.
The one thing that puzzled me is that there were no pictures of the runes themselves in a book which had large sections about them.

Good but not great

This book is good but didn't include individual pictures of the runes. That would've been way more helpful. It was a great kindle unlimited read but I probably won't buy an individual copy.

Good introduction

I've worked with runes a bit and I found this book to be a good reference guide or a great book for beginners. I recommend this book if you'd like to start working with the runes.

Great read for beginners!

If you're intrigued by old Norse mythology and beliefs, but you're a total beginner, this book is easy to navigate. The simplicity is its strength and downfall, depending upon how you learn.

A good overview

For a beginner just looking into Norse paganism, this is a good book to start with. I would have liked a little bit more spells.

It has good info however I didn't really retain much information from this book at all. A lot of topics with too little detail.

Mostly accurate, but not the best choice for a first introduction. Maybe a good revision checklist if you already know your shit. Still enjoyable though.

Deep analysis of rune and the history.

Definitely enjoy the story of the ancient. Especially the stories that's not rarely told because of its history. Definitely recommend it 👌🏾

Little mixture of Norse paganism potpourri: some stories about gods, some light history, and an overview on runes.

No itch is scratched for too long, but the read was interesting enough.

Its not really a spell book, since it doesn't teach any spell, but I still love it because the deep info on norse paganism and myths. It talks a little about norse magic too, but if you want to really read about norse magic the next of the series is a better choice.
