Masters' Admiralty #8

Desire's Addiction

Rate this book
She spent months as a captive...until they set her free.
Talya is smart and stubborn…and that’s why she’s spent two months as a prisoner to the mafia. They’ll let her go if she gives them what they want, but Talya would rather die than risk dangerous biochemical information falling into the wrong hands. And she probably will die–after all no one is coming to save her.
When the mafia decides to sell her, she assumes a bad situation is only going to get worse. Until she meets her new “master”...and it turns out the auction is the rescue she never dared hope for.
Billionaire Henri buys her to save her. It wasn’t the most traditional rescue, but now that she’s in his home, he will do anything to help her.
Milo is haunted by the fact that he saw her in chains...and had to leave her as a captive. Now that she’s safe with Henri, he should leave…but he doesn’t want to. Because he’s drawn to Talya and Henri.
The betrayal of a friend strikes hard because the mafia isn’t finished with Talya.

Desire’s Addiction totally had me mesmerized from beginning to end. Henri and Milo, their attraction to each other and to Tayla … their back-stories … the abduction and rescue. Everything was laid out for you and you couldn’t wait to see just how everything was going to play out. Mesmerizing!

I loved Talya’s conviction on what she wanted, what she would and wouldn’t do. I also agreed with all her decisions regarding her secret. Was this one of the more morbid stories in this series? Definitely. But, everything fit. Yes, we are all wondering just where Rodrigo stands and on which side he will end up on. Hopefully, we will get some answers. Soon.

And Erik. We couldn’t ask for a more interesting character in a story. He makes us laugh, cry and wonder just what he will do next. He is so well written and definitely deserves some happiness (hint, hint). He brings these stories together and is pivotal throughout the story to all the characters involved. Without him, would there be a Master’s Admiralty?

Mari Carr and Lila Dubois do such a wonderful job giving these characters life. They know how to tell a riveting and interesting story. They bring their characters to the edge, draw them back and then push them over to their happily-ever-after’s. Together, these two authors know how to write intrigue and how to keep their readers guessing.

Okay, this book moved into action adventure, shooting past suspense at warp speed! Milo and Talya had made a connection already, however brief, and that is only ramped up when Henri enters the picture. Talya has been through so much that her men only want to comfort her and never let it happen again. This has them going to extremes, but nothing is going to stop them. The cards don’t seem to be in their favour for an evermore, but against the odds, it does happen. And they get a cat as a bonus <3

Now, let’s talk about the tortured characters in this book still outstanding, shall we? We had two already, and because of them, she is never forgotten and that is what makes this HEA happen. Queue all the waterworks for them, for her, for the unfairness of it all. But we have now added two more, one directly because of one of the original two (and their HEA will come someday…….) But the newest is the next story and a cumulation of the long storyline bad guys. Hold on Rodrigo!!!

Tayla is an accomplished chemist whose work has drawn the attention of the wrong people and she has been held captive for the last months. When they decide that she is no longer useful they decide to auction her off and that is when Henri and Milo enter the picture.

Milo regrets that he wasn’t able to rescue Tayla when he first learnt about her situation but he hasn’t forgotten her. He recruits Henri to ensure that he makes the winning bid at the auction however rescuing her was only part of the problem as the danger is far from over.

The storyline is entertaining and the chemistry between the characters is intense as they take us on a suspenseful ride and leave us wanting more of this series.

I have a major girl crush on Mari Carr and Lila Dubois but Eric will definitely forbid me a trinity with them. I love every story in the TM/MA series and Desire’s Addiction absolutely did not disappoint. The intrigue flows perfectly with every romance that MC and LD weave together giving us another amazing chapter of the Masters Admiralty. .

What a great series that just got better. Talya's story will grab your attention right at the beginning and you won't be able to put this book down. She's rescued by two gorgeous men who are not only attracted to her but each other. Talk about steamy with no shortage of drama or suspense. Secrets galore just add to the suspense. A great read with well defined characters and an entertaining story line. I read an advance copy via the authors and voluntarily chose to review it.

This long due continuation of that surprise at Gabriella's "auction", follows the one they had to leave behind.
The things happening along the way to a conclusion will give you whiplash. Who are the good guys, who the bad ones, are all the good ones really...
On top of all the whodunit a deeply moving love story develops, that packs an emotional and physical punch.
One aside: when will Erik get his story?
Sheesh, he needs it...

Desire’s Addiction is the eighth book in the Masters’ Admiralty series. I think this book would be best read with at least the previous book first. Talya has been held captive for months when she’s finally rescued. Milo and Henri are there to help her land safely and know that she’s not broken. They can’t deny their connection, but know better than to risk their hearts. When Talya is taken again, her men will do anything to bring her back, but is it possible for to have a happily ever after?

Wow, this book was absolutely fantastic. I adore this series so hard. I’m always slow to start these books, but once I get moving, I literally can’t put the book down until it’s over - which is exactly how I was up way too late this morning, finishing the book! I needed to know what happened next with this trinity! Talya, Milo, and Henri we’re just absolutely fantastic, full of love and passion and hope, no matter what their circumstances are. Talya is so smart, a little warrior in her own right, and I loved that she was fighting for her future with her men. She was brave and daring, knew her own strengths, and I loved that she saw a counselor to help affirm everything she felt. Milo was dark and dangerous, but still had a lightness inside that showed he wasn’t completely jaded. I loved his loyalty to Talya, too. Henri was just wonderful! His joy for life was infectious, and just what his partners needed. I adored this triad together, even when they weren’t supposed to be. Their passion was so steamy hot, their drive got them far, and I loved that their hearts were just completely taken by each other. This book definitely does not answer all of the questions I’ve had over this story arc, so I am dying to find out more, and I am on pins and needles to see who and what will come next! This series just has it all - danger, secrets, passion, love, and once you start, you can’t stop!

Love this series! Desires Addiction did not disappoint

Dr Talya Maes, biochemist, was kidnapped by the Camorra, A powerful mafia family. A member of the Masters Admirably, her disappearance went unnoticed until, another member was rescued.
Milo Moretti, security officer for the Italian territory, witnessed first hand, Talya's bravery and strength, when he helped rescue Gabriella. Her men made it know that they want her too, while Milo locked eyes and willed her strength.
Henri Fortin, billionaire, a MA lagacy, has been tapped to aid in the rescue of one their own. Talya has just gone up for sale.
Henri offers his home to Talya, for safety and recovery from her two month long captivity. Milo his protection. The fall for each other fast and hard.
Talya is keeping a secret about her research, one she is willing to die for, one she trusts no one with.
Rodrigo Santiago, MA security officer, Castile territory, has gone deep under cover within the Camorra. Son of the Dom, he needs Talya to cement his standing. He needs her secret to do it. Milo and Henri will set Italy on fire, what they can't burn, Henri will buy to get her back.
The Masters Protective Force has moved their focus to the Camorra, and their trafficking in female scientists.
Rodrigo, is navigating a difficult path. The more he learns of his fathers organization, the more difficult his mission became and the more involved he becomes. His loyalty to the MA has been called into question. He has the potential to become a dangerous enemy.
Eric, my heart breaks for him. He still struggles with the loss of his wives. Josephine's murder, nearly destroyed him and fears losing Collum to his grief. Nikolett is a light and an anchor. He can't claim her, as Fleet Admiral, he doesn't have the luxury.
Loved Talya, Henri, and Milo's story. Fast paced and steamy, MF, MM, MMF, menage , romantic suspense. Does not read well as a stand alone.

I really have mixed feelings about this book. The storyline, Tayla's rescue via an illegal auction by Henri & Milo and the adventure that follows is pretty good. It's not the page-turner that some of the earlier books are, particularly the Trinity Masters series, but it's a decent thriller. My problem is with how events pan out

The way in which Tayla comes to be rescued is highly contrived. After being held captive for 2 months for a formula she designed her captors suddenly decide to sell her: no torturing or coercion to get her secrets. Nothing. Just let her go. On top of that, having been held captive by sex traffickers & made to witness a sex slave auction Tayla is, incredibly, up for sex within 2 days of release. This story is just full of ridiculously contrived scenes that it's laughable and, indeed, I did laugh out loud at that.

The story is so full of action that to develop the plot in a more realistic & believable way would likely involve making it much longer & I doubt the authors want that. If course, they could cut down on the numerous very lengthy & unnecessary sex scenes but that seems to be the point of these books. It was working up till now but her we have a plot sacrificed to the sex. Whilst it's erotic fiction, there used to be much more plot integrity, which here is entirely sacrificed to the sex.

I did love the story. However, the first part & the steps leading to Tayla's freedom are weak and ridiculous. I also don't think any kind of case was made for Rodrigo's 'going it alone'. Lots of hints but, based on how unnaturally contrived the plot was here, I am already despairing about the next book. Maybe the authors will suprise us with a more convincing story, like they used to be.

The stories Mari Carr and Lila Dubois cook up together are my mental potato chips!
These authors have a gift of creating really interesting people, placing them in vivid settings, where they develop feelings while having hot menage sex as drama occurs around them. Fun!
Although each book in this series focuses on three primary characters, individuals from earlier in the series are woven into this story. When I've read series by other authors, if there are too many characters, by the time the next book comes out I have trouble remembering who has what backstory. Here, it's not an issue - the various players are all so distinct and interesting, the authors are able to weave them in and out without muddying the current story.
**Note The main characters in this book do resolve their personal story arc. However, aspects of the plot began earlier in the series and/or continue through into future books. For this reason I recommend starting with either the first book in the Masters' Admiralty series, Treachery's Devotion or with the first book in the related Trinity Masters series, Elemental Pleasure.
I was given an ARC with the request that I post my honest opinion.

The latest instalment in the Master’s Admiralty series continuing the underlying plot began in Suspicion’s Fire concerning the trafficking of women. After that book I thought the ‘thruple’ here would’ve included Rodrigo but no. Talya, the woman they had left behind when rescuing Gabriella is finally free from her months long kidnapping ordeal but is she really safe? After the ordeal and the abuse she’s been through, her two defenders Milo and Henri are determined that nothing will hurt again but can they really protect her when she’s keeping secrets especially when the threat may be closer to home than they think. The connection and chemistry between this threesome is strong with both men, despite being dominant alpha males, are willing to let Talya set the pace and give her what she needs even if it’s satisfying her newly awakened voyeuristic tendencies by watching the two of them together. One thing I do love about this series is the complete openness between the characters. There is no awkwardness between anyone, just openness in exploring their sexualities. The plot itself is maybe slightly weak comparing it to the previous book especially when no one seemed to go into Talya’s release and it all seemed a bit anticlimactic but the action later on in the second half of the book made up for it.

Now authors please let Eric and Nikolett get together before the sexual tension gives him a heart attack or she kills him due to frustration, and stay strong Rodrigo. You are not your father’s son!

We met both Milo and Talya in the last Masters’ Admiralty book. Milo, a security officer for the MA in Rome, was one of the men who rescued Gabriella from human traffickers. Talya, a lonely Belgian biochemist, who is being held captive, as well, has made a discovery that the traffickers want. Milo regrettably had to leave Talya behind, but will not rest until he can rescue her from her horrible 2-month captivity.

In this story, we meet the third member of this amazing trinity. Henri, a French billionaire, is called upon by Eric, the MA Fleet Admiral, to purchase Talya in a secret auction. Henri happily agrees, but he wants to be involved with bringing the traffickers to account, as well. Henri gives Talya a safe place to recover and rest.

I love this trinity. Milo, Talya, and Henri are equally engaging and likable, and their chemistry is off the charts. They each have their strengths, and I couldn’t help pulling for them to become a permanent trinity. (It isn’t up to them to decide, of course.)

This is not a book with which to start reading the Masters’ Admiralty series, simply because there are too many books that came before this one. That being said, I would highly recommend reading both the TM & MA series from beginning to end. These are some of my favorite books, because of the way they are written, the excellent storylines, the chemistry between characters, and the anticipation of the next book to come. I love the suspense, action, danger, love, and sex in all of these books.

Desire's Addiction is the first book that I've read in Mari Carr and Lila Dubois's Masters' Admiralty/Trinity Masters Series and overall I don't think I needed to have read the other books but I think I would have enjoyed them more if I had read one of the earlier books. I understood 85-90% of the book but what I didn't understand was what was going on in this world. Like is being a triad mandatory of all human beings, only certain people, why can't they chose their partners, and so on. As I read on I was able to understand more of the background from piecing together bits and pieces of information. But I still think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I knew the background information.
I did like reading Desire's Addiction, I really liked the female lead, Talya, I liked that she was smart (biochemist) who was able to create basically a Captain America super soldier serum but saw how dangerous it was. I also loved that she was so strong and brave, she was able to stick to her beliefs that no one should ever get their hands on the super soldier serum and she was willing to take the secret to the grave. I also loved how much the guys, Milo and Henri cared for Talya and they realized how strong and smart she was. They also realized that she was an independent woman who didn't need them. I also liked that they realized that she had just gone through a trauma so they wanted her to take her time making the decision to be with them. Overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to what comes next from them.

Milo Moretti is a security officer for the Masters' Admiralty in Rome. He's a black ops assassin for the territories. When he couldn't rescue a woman being abused at an auction, he sets his sites on finding and retrieving her.

Henri Fortin is a French billionaire. His empire is in the hospitality, telecom and manufacturing business. He's polished and sophisticated, but doesn't take himself too seriously.

Dr. Talya Maes is a Belgian biochemist who lived a solitary life after her father died three years ago. As a member of the Masters' Admiralty, she knew she'd be assigned a trinity so she threw herself into her work. Her research led her to a discovery that put her in the mafia crosshairs.

Held captive for two months before being rescued, Talya has all the resources the Admiralty can throw at her to help her recover but it's Milo and Henri that truly makes her feel safe again.

Carr and Dubois deliver another amazing trinity. When these three come together the heat is off the charts and the care and tenderness to help Tayla recover is heartwarming.

But that's not all, we also get teasing glimpses into Rodrigo Santiago, Eric Varga and Nikolett Varda's stories.
Prepare for an emotional and intense ride before these three get their happily ever after.

Desire's Addiction is another awesome story in the world of Masters' Admiralty, a secret society which is ruled over by the acerbic and powerful Fleet Admiral Eric Ericcson, aka the Viking. (I can't wait until someday Eric gets a book of his own!) This book picks up shortly after the end of book seven of the series in which undercover security officer Milo Moretti, has sworn to come back for biochemist Talya Maes who is being held by the Camorra mafia. As the story opens, Talya is rescued and finds herself safe for the moment in Paris at the home of Henri Fortin, a billionaire member of their society. In no time at all sparks are flying between her, Milo, and Henri. Safety however is just an illusion because she still has something that the Camorra wants and the ensuing pulse pounding events in this story had me on the edge of my seat.

Talya's strength and fortitude is amazing. Milo, who has already lost his heart to her, is steadfast in his determination to protect her at all costs, as is generous, warmhearted Henri, who is falling for both Talya and Milo. The sexual chemistry between these three is off the charts!

Superb writing, great plotting, danger, and suspense are all present in this quick paced, steamy menage romance. I loved it.

Desire's Addiction is the eighth book in the Masters' Admiralty series. They do need to be read in order so start with book one. This book is about Talya, who was captive of the mafia human traffickers at the same time as Gabriella from book seven. Milo was security to help rescue Gabriella. His job was to get Gabriella and her two husbands out safely while surrounded by mafia and human trafficking ring goons who would shoot first and ask questions later. He vowed to find and help Talya even as he left.

Talya is a brilliant, mind in a generation, biochemist. She has come up with a drug that will make mindless super soldiers and has no desire to ever see it come to light. She has been held by the mafia for months now and she is willing to die with her knowledge rather than turning it over to them. Milo recruits more help from the Fleet Admiral and a couple more Admirals because Talya is a member of the Masters' Admiralty from Belgium.

After they recruit a reclusive billionaire, Henri, to be the purchaser for Talya they get her out of the mafia's hold. Henri, Milo and Talya slowly become friends and eventually lovers. As their feelings grow deeper they are still working to break up the Mafia. I'll leave all the twists and turns that come with the end of this gripping story for you to enjoy in the book.

Desire's Addiction picks up some of what happened in Suspicion's Fire (book 7) and we have Talya's rescue which we have been holding out for, along with Milo, since she was left captive. Henri provides a safe haven and along with Milo, these dominant alpha males set about restoring Talya to her former self, and so much more. There is fun, laughter, flirtiness and some scorching sex while the three of these fall in love but when things take a turn, their love is what proves to be their savior.

I enjoyed this book immensely and it feels almost like a book that is setting out how things are about to be played out within the future Admiralty books and I can't wait to see what Lila Dubois and Mari Carr bring us next! The cogs are working and wheels have been put in motion that I can only guess at what we are about to read next. I long for The Viking to find his happiness ("She would have loved this story!") and stop punishing himself. I hurt for Nikolett and hope some day soon she finds her HEA without too much more pain in the process and Rodrigo is a man who is fighting a battle on all fronts and I so hope he ends where he is truly meant to be but only time will tell.

Another great Triad in Henri, Milo and Talya - but as always, I so want more!

A rollercoaster Of Emotions!! Fabulous Read!

Biochemist Dr. Talya Maes has refused to disclose the information she was taken for and now they feel she is no longer of any use. So, they have decided to auction her off to the highest bidder.

Billionaire Henri Fortin has been tasked with not only bidding for her but providing a safe place for her to recuperate. And Milo, well he had to walk away the first time he saw her and is determined to protect her at all costs especially when he couldn’t protect her before.

Tayla is scarred and broken after her kidnapping ordeal however she feels safe when she is with both Henri and Milo. With the help of her councilor Tayla also realizes she is not a broken as she thought as she starts to have feelings for her two protectors.

An unexpected phone call, the betrayal finds Tayla kidnapped again. But this time Henri and Milo won’t give up until they find her. Even if they must burn every holding the Camorra have to find her.

Having Tayla back presents its own set of problems. Because when they joined Masters’ Admiralty, Tayla, Henri and Milo gave up the choice to be able to decide who they love and can be with. But if the Fleet Admiral can get over being mad at Henri and Milo then maybe, just maybe……

We first met at Talya and Milo in Suspicion’s Fire, book 7 in the Masters’ Admiralty series. Forced to leave her behind while he helped to rescue another Admiralty member, he’s since worked tirelessly to free her as well.
Henri is the extremely wealthy member who “buys” Talya, thus thrusting them together to keep her safe from the mafia-like organization who wants the knowledge she possesses. Close quarters lead to newfound feelings between the trio…who are not a formal Trinity.
I love the chemistry between these characters; their personalities compliment each other perfectly. Milo is dominant but quick to laugh, while Henri is less bold but sweetly sincere. Talya uncovers things about herself that she might not ever have realized without her relationship with these men.
Lots of action, as always, in this story. While some, such has human trafficking, is heartbreakingly real, other aspects of the story are more conjecture (maybe?) longtime fans will welcome the reappearance of past characters. It also made he realize I missed a book (forehead smack)!
I enjoyed the storyline, but my favorite part was the triad and their engaging relationship. Can’t wait to see whose next up to be matched!

Words of wisdom from Eric to all - "Remember to treasure what you have. It's rare to find love, rarer still to get to keep that love."

How can you not want to read this story to discover what happens before Eric delivers these words of wisdom to Tayla, Milo and Henri?

The story starts with a continuation of a story in Suspicion's Fire with a kidnapping and a rescue. But how many times can a woman be kidnapped and rescued? And what will Henri and Milo do to rescue her? Are they willing to take on the Mafia? Do they actually say screw the Admiralty and do everything to get "their" Talya back? I guess you will have to read this story in order to find out.

I can assure you that you will end up staying up late reading this and needing to take the following day off work if you do this on a work night. Of course, it is better to plan reading this on a weekend when you have the place all to yourself.

I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from these two supremely talented but slightly demented authors in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. (Okay they might also be a little devious since they do write such addicting stories.)

Desire's Addiction is book 8 in the Masters' Admiralty series. Talya is a biochemist who's discovery leads to her being kidnapped by the mob. She is strong and a fighter but being held captive for two months might be too much for her to handle. If you read book 7, then you know Milo has been waiting to rescue her since he first saw her. Now he has a chance to see her rescued when another member of their secret society, billionaire Henri, is able to purchase her from an auction. As Henri and Milo are there to help protect and care for Talya things between the three of them heat up. This book was a page turner. Just when you think you know what is happening events take a turn. There was so much going on and yet I still felt the strong connection between the characters. I really liked Talya, Milo, and Henri. I recommend this book, but do suggest reading the other books in the series to truly understand the society and the secondary characters. Adored this book

No plot spoilers
There are some potential triggers relating to kidnap and sexual abuse as well as the slave trade.
There are a couple of errors but nothing to get irritated about.
There is some swearing, and there are some sex scenes of a MFM and MMF nature.
The characterisation is spot on, more than enough to allow the reader to form a connection with the characters.
I have wanted Milo to get his Trinity since first meeting his character. I have been a little in love with him ever since!
Henri is just totally right for Milo, the perfect foil to Milo's dark operative.
Talya is complex, but is written so well she is totally believable.
We learn more about Eric, and see more of Colum, Josephine's brother.
Their conversations about Josephine are heartbreaking but true to life.
If you are a fan of romantic thrillers with a dash of menage I have no problem recommending the series but would advise reading from the beginning to obtain the best reading experience.
I can't wait for the next book!

Each book in this series has grabbed my attention from the very first page until the very last with the action, suspense, and intrigue that occurs during each read, and Desire's Addiction is right there at the top with all of these romantic suspense elements that we have come to love from these two authors. Milo, Talya, and Henri are three characters that are so very different but fit together so well with what each of them bring to the relationship. Milo is a strong, dominating security officer, Talya is the beautiful, quiet scientist, while Henri is the charismatic billionaire. All three together provide some of the sexiest scenes these two authors have provided the readers in their stories, but also a connection that they are not ready to break despite what others may want and dictate. The story involves new threats to the Master's Admiralty society and now we need to know what will happen after this book. I cannot wait for the next thrilling read.

This series just gets better and better. The Masters Admiralty and The Trinity Masters have joined together to stop a human trafficking ring. We met Tayla in Suspicion's Fire (incredible read). She was taken because she holds the secret to a special formula the Camorra want. Desire's Addiction tells us what that formula is and what dangers it presents. Henri and Milo pull out all stops to get her back. Not to mention we get to see much more of Eric.

Lila and Mari combine their devious minds to give us an incredible series filled with suspense, action, danger, and of course menage. It is a thrill ride from page one and just gets better and better with each book in the series.

Now the painful wait for the next book in the series...... Highly recommend this book and both The Masters Admiralty and The Trinity Masters series!!

Top-Notch; Every Single Story!!

If you follow the series - last book when Gabriella was rescued they had to leave behind one woman. Milo cannot get her out of his mind. Her strength and fortitude. It has taken an additional month to ‘free’ her. Henri is the man setup to purchase her; his reputation will take a hit, but he is all in.

Tayla is a biochemist who has made an amazing discovery. The mystery remains how anyone knew - and how to continue to protect her. As Talya recovers physically and emotionally from her 60 day captivity, she and these two special men grow closer. But in The Masters’ Admiralty your trinity is chosen for you.

Emotional and exceptional. This story will keep you completely riveted until the last page.

Another fantastic add to the Masters' Admiralty series!

I keep saying *this* is the best book in the series but then Mari Carr & Lila Dubois out do themselves again & now *this* is the best book in the series!

Loved that Milo is able to go back save Talya and we meet billionaire Henri. They are a wonderful trinity if they were able to pick their trinity but that's not how MA works...

Loved the twists and turns and intrigue!

Loved seeing Collum again & his interaction with Franco...love love loved that scene!

And Valkyrie?!!? Aaaah! Loved her too.

Plus we get to see more of Eric - hopefully in a few books he'll get his trinity - we all can hope.

Next, I think we get to see what exactly is going with Rodrigo...

Received an ARC for an honest review.

Carr and DuBois know how to right a love scene, that's for damn sure. I like getting the bigger picture of the Admiralty in bits and pieces while also watching a couple come together. I'm ready to see a story where one of them doesn't get kidnapped though. Give me something else that keeps things interesting while also affirms that the trinity is mean to be together. That said, Milo, Henri and Talya are up there among my favourites because it felt like they came together naturally. I wasn't surprised that they'd find their way to each other and their union wasn't farfetched. I am definitely wondering what's going to happen with Erik and Rodrigo though...
