Two lovers frozen in ice. One dangerous expedition.
Holly Parmenter doesn’t remember the helicopter crash that claimed the life of her fiancé and left her in a coma. The only details she does remember from that fateful day haunt her—two mysterious bodies sealed within the ice, dressed for dinner rather than a dangerous hike up the Canadian Rockies.
No one believes Holly’s story about the couple encased deep in the icy crevasse. Instead, she’s wrongly accused of murdering her fiancé for his million-dollar estate. Desperate to uncover the truth about the bodies and to prove her innocence, Holly resolves to climb the treacherous mountain and return to the crash site. But to do that she’ll need the help of Oliver, a handsome rock-climbing specialist who has his own questions about Holly’s motives.
When a documentary about an unsolved kidnapping offers clues as to the identity of the frozen bodies, it’s no longer just Oliver and Holly heading to the dangerous mountaintop . . . there’s also a killer, who’ll stop at nothing to keep the case cold.
Will a harrowing trip to the icy crevasse bring Holly and Oliver the answers they seek? Or will disaster strike twice, claiming all Holly has left?

Owner and operator of the rock-climbing facility, Oliver Nelson was astounded at the young woman in front of him, as she insisted he give her private lessons. But there was another angle she was unaware of – and the danger of the mountains was the least of their worries. Would they survive their mission? Or would they become another terrible statistic?
Out of Mind by Aussie author Kendall Talbot is the 2nd in the Maximum Exposure series and it’s brilliant! Harrowing, heartbreaking and fast-paced, the plot is intriguing, and the characters are a mixed bunch with Amber/Holly and Oliver being well-crafted and likeable, while there are a couple of others who are not so nice! (understatement!) The beauty and danger of the Canadian Rockies shines through, while the determination of the MC is admirable. A thoroughly enjoyable romantic suspense, which is oh-so-heavy on the suspense (just as I like it!) Out of Mind is one I highly recommend.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
Kendall Talbot is one of my must read authors, OUT OF MIND (the title has now changed) is the second book in the Maximum Exposure series; and it is just as good as the first, Out of Reach . In fact pick a book she has written, any book, and you will not be let down.
When Holly’s multi-millionaire fiancé and his son die in a chopper crash he leaves her, the sole survivor, his fortune. Her fiancé’s ex-wife, left nothing, accuses Holly of being a gold-digger and the media frenzy picks up on this and hounds Holly. So with disfiguring scars, and broken in both body and spirit she hides away in a small town where no one can find her. While Holly was waiting on the mountain for rescue she saw a couple frozen in an ice cave next to where she was lying. Watching a documentary about cold cases one evening she sees the couple she decides to go back to Whisky Mountain and find the couple to give their next-of-kin peace of mind. With this plan she starts to put her life back together.
Holly meets Oliver when she demands that he teaches her to climb – private lessons so she doesn’t have to appear in public with the scars on her face. She also goes to a nearby ski field to learn how to ski. These two skills will be needed when she returns to the mountain.
Gradually Holly learns to trust and love again and tells Oliver about her past – and what she wants to do. She isn’t instantly cured – but now she has someone to help her continue on the recovery road. They head off to the Canadian Rockies to carry out her mission. A simple matter you would think – but there has been a seemingly unconnected story bubbling along in the background about a young teen called Regi; he gets caught up with a Crime Boss because of one stupid mistake, and now his life consists of heavy beatings as he is forced to work for to pay off that mistake.
When Holly and Oliver arrive on Whisky Mountain to carry out their mission the pace suddenly cranks up to full ‘edge of the seat,’ ‘can’t put down’ and ‘cook your own tea’ pace!!! The two stories finally make the connection and Holly and Oliver need to fight hard to get off the mountain alive. The build up to, and the actual, climax will leave you breathless and is written beautifully. There is a lot going on in the story, but author Kendall Talbot never drops a thread and cleans all the loose ends (even ones you didn’t know where loose) by the last page.
OUT OF MIND (title has changed) and OUT OF REACH (total has also changed) can each be read separately, and there is a third as yet untitled book coming out in the not too distant future.
With thanks to Kensington Books and the author via Netgalley for my copy to read and review
While I thought a jungle adventure would be hard to beat, I realized that a combo of a cold-weather survival and a broken woman coming back to life crashed over my senses with an amazing fury. Out of Mind just up the ante when sensational settings, situations, and characters come to min.
The second of the Maximum Exposure series, Out of Mind is a separate story from book one and could be read standalone just fine. At the same time, fans of Out of Reach will recognize the tiny crossover moment.
The unthinkable happens when Holly Parmenter, her billionaire fiance, and his son go on an impulsive helicopter ride from their ski resort in the Canadian Rockies and the helicopter crashes under horrific circumstances. Holly is the lone survivor. She thinks death stalks her because of the chain of losses in her life. Now, her fiance's ex is out to paint her as a golddigging murderess and her own friends look on her askance. She needs a reset and takes it. Meanwhile, a stupid teenage stunt lands Regi in an untenable situation to crime boss, Carson, for years and maybe his whole life if a miracle doesn't happen. Holly finds new interest because of a cold case mystery and her new climbing instructor while Regi learns a secret that will either clear him or kill him.
You know how a book can catch you just right? You may not even have expected it to tick off every single box and boxes you didn't realize you wanted ticked. This was that book for me. I knew I'd like it because I generally like everything I've read by this author, but it was even better than expected. I got the survival story, the adventure, and the nice romance, but it was the extras that floored me. I loved how the heroine was shattered and broken in the beginning, but then put herself back together. Yes, she had a romance, but it wasn't a great guy or super sex that suddenly made trouble disappear. She worked and she worked hard because of her own need to help someone else she didn't even know plus she got the guy.
At first, I was very confused about the two storylines that shifted between Holly and Regi, but it did eventually show the tie-in and I nodded my head at the author's brilliance. Still, keep in mind these were two separate and seemingly unconnected stories for much of the book. Holly hiding out and avoiding anything outside her front door because life out there beat her and broke her and Regi's miserable existence avoiding beatings from the criminal gang he is forced to work for to pay off a mistake.
The story also split between edge of your seat chilling danger up on a high ridge of a frozen snow-capped mountain and then the relative safe 'normal' life back home. Things got moderately brutal, but also had those moments of slow progress while Holly came into her own. The big climax end was the payoff as well as the satisfying denouement for all the important parts to get wrapped up.
All in all, this was a fast and entrancing read for me. Fabulous heroine, riveting mixed with engaging plot, a mostly sweet romance, and an all around solid adventure mixed with romantic suspense. Those who enjoy survivor romances should look into this book/series.
I rec'd this book from Net Galley to read in exchange for an honest review.
I read this a while ago and due to a hectic schedule I am only getting around to writing my review now and for that I offer my apologies.
This is a case of going a little bit outside of my comfort zone and being pleasantly surprised. I don't usually gravitate towards adventure or action type stories and this was both. Without divulging too much of the plot, I will say that this story was really far fetched which I usually have a hard time being on board with yet I really enjoyed it. It goes to show that if you just let your mind go, you can enjoy the vision of the author even when you know that there is no way this could happen in real life.
I was caught up in the drama from the beginning and Holly's need to make things right despite her fears. I wanted a win for her with all of the bad things that had happened to her. As mentioned, the events that take place could never occur in real life but it didn't matter. I was living every moment of the story.
I am glad that I took the step outside of my normal reading wheelhouse and took a chance on this story!
MS Talbot knows how to put her characters through a wringer and bring them out on the other side to a fabulous HEA and she sure knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats and turning the pages, I highly recommend that you join Holly and Oliver on this journey of strength and courage and a beautiful romance.
Holly takes a trip with her fiancé and his son to a snowy Whiskey Mountain in Canada in a helicopter and Holly just knows that it will end in tragedy and what happens to Holly is beyond belief but what she sees stays with her and haunts her and then later becomes the a quest to get to the truth of what she has seen, but she needs to learn a few things to do what she must, starting a new life and meeting Oliver who teaches her to rock climb and opens her heart up again.
Oliver is stunned when a woman asking for private lessons and complete secrecy, she has scars that are very visible but he also thinks that there are scars not so visible, but he is pulled towards her and agrees to training and along the way he learns the truth and loses his heart to this woman who shows such strength and nerve to do what she must, and together they retrace the trip to Whiskey Mountain where danger arrives again.
There is a lot happening in this story and I loved it from start to finish, fabulous characters good and bad ones and the romance between Oliver and Holly is beautiful with all of the danger going on around them, but Holly what a heroine beautiful on the inside and the outside what she has gone through has added to her strength and Oliver was just the hero to meet her soul and together they can move forward. I do look forward to more in this series, this one is fabulous.
What I loved best about this well-written novel by Kendall Talbot, is the way her female MC Holly Pargeter never gives up on herself, despite fearing she's a deadly jinx to those she loves.
Extreme Limit is a very apt title, as Holly suffers a series of devastating injuries and losses, that would turn most of us into blubbering bed-ridden, medication and therapy-dependent wrecks.
Yet without portraying her heroine as a Lara Croft-like Wonder Woman on a quest, or a hot mess, the author cleverly keeps her MC's feet firmly on the ground and shows realistically, her long fight back to health, love and happiness, that she's glad to spread around new friends, by bringing a well-deserved outcome to those who have helped and stood by her - as well as an unpredictable, but just downfall, to those who have hindered her road to recovery and really deserve their comeuppance.
Finally love finds a way back into Holly's heart, when she meets her soulmate in an unexpected place.
Read Extreme Limit, a wonderful, heart-warming story of second-chance love by Kendall Talbot, which is Book 1 in the Maximum Exposure series. It's a 5-star winner you're sure to love!
Out of Mind by Kendall Talbot is the 2nd book in the Maximum Exposure, and my first book by this author. I really enjoyed this book and will be reading more by this author. Although this is book two, I was not lost reading this book. Holly had a bad feeling when she went on a helicopter ride with her fiance and his son to a mountain top, that no one else has ever land on before. When the helicopter crashes, Holly is the only survivor. Holly remains in a coma for months, when she wakes up she has a long path to recover. This book is full of adventure with a well thought out story line. I recommend this book for any one who like a romantic suspense story.
I was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.
I loved this suspense story! Some twists that I didn't see coming! I adored the lawyer scene! Best part! And the connection between these two was incredible!
This was a very good book. Fully researched, obviously, which means you will learn lots of interesting things you never even considered. The characters are believable, and the graphic scenery description is very accurate. If you like edge of your seat novels, with snuggles and snow included, you will love this one!
I hate the fluffy "romance novels" and if that's what you're looking for this isn't it. I particularly like ones with substance and I gather she writes many of them. Read it in one day.
This had a bit of a slow beginning, despite the early excitement. I didn't connect with Holly until about 15% in, but was able to after. Holly is someone who is living the life of a hermit, hiding from her past and the traumas in it. She has very visible scarring on her face from a helicopter accident she survived, and less-visible scarring on her heart and mind from the helicopter accident her fiance and fiance's son's didn't survive. She is also haunted by something she saw frozen in the ice while she was hoping for help, even more so since she learned exactly what it was she saw. She starts to actually LIVE again after becoming determined to help resolve the mystery around it.
This was a solid story, with a little of everything. I really enjoyed the suspense, the slow burn romance, the mystery surrounding how Regi fit in, and the action. The only thing that felt a bit off was the description of sex. It was a bit awkward, but forgiveable considering how well everything else was described.
The tone of everything matched Holly's growth, and the ending felt very satisfying in many ways.
As a bit of an aside, I was amused several times throughout at some word choices (like describing a voice as "posh"). As an American who is very familiar with British/Australian English, it made me smile, but also wonder for a second if any of these characters were not from the U.S. That wasn't important to the story, and didn't detract any, though!!!!
Wow! Extreme Limit formerly titled Out of Mind by Kendall Talbot blew me away. This new author for me to read has impressed me with this book. Enough so that I recently purchased another book in the series.
Two seemingly unconnected stories that came together in an amazing and dangerous way. From the beginning, Holly/Amber’s POV was heartbreaking and awe inspiring. Her obsession seemed over the top but also a reason for her to live, I got that. Still how her story would connect with Regi’s was baffling to me until it did connect. We only saw her fiancé through her eyes so the twists and turns in this story kept me surprisingly shocked with each revelation while also turning the pages as quickly as I could.
The romance is a natural progression, but it is the adventure/ thriller plot that makes this such an amazing read. Well-written with several POVs that even had me empathizing with Regi which normally would be difficult after first meeting him in the story. Kudos to this author.
An ARC of the book was given to me which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Holly Parmenter is a heroine worthy of the title. She is damaged but determined, vulnerable yet hard as steel, and despite everything stacked against her, she goes to great lengths to bring justice to her story. She tugs on your heartstrings because despite being hurt, both physically and emotionally, she connects to a long ago tragedy and pushes herself to the limit for closure and to right the wrongs of the past. Oliver is the balance, a source of strength and healing, a hero who sees past the scars that Holly carries and risks all to help her in her journey. OUT OF MIND is an adventure that takes you on an emotional ride. It delivers a satisfying sense of justice served and warms your heart enough to melt the mountain snows. It's a book I thoroughly recommend!
Holly Parmenter loses her fiance and his son in adevastating helicopter crash which leaves her with a terrible burn scar on the cheek and her fiance's ex wife blames her for the crash and holds up the estate in a law battle. Holly changes her name and disappears. She learns to climb and to ski and returns to the scene of the crash ostensibly to recover her fiance's and his son's bodies. She has other reasons as well and her redemption lies in the hidden task. Read to the end for the thriller ride of your life. I promise you won't regret it.
MY RATING 5 stars--WOW 4 stars--would read again 3 stars--was good 2 stars--didn't enjoy 1 star--didn't finish
Should I read books before this one: no Cliffhanger: no
SUMMARY 24yo Holly feels a premonition of death as she gets on the helicopter. The few times she's had premonitions of death, it's come true. She's going with her older fiancé, Milton, and his 17yo son, Kane, up a snowy mountain in the Canadian Rockies for a picnic. They crash, a crevasse opens, the 3 passengers fall in. Holly, on a very small ledge, sees Milton below on another ledge, face peaceful. The helicopter explodes. She sees something in the ice, passes out.
She wakes in a Washington hospital, calls for Milton. The nurse tells her he and Kane are dead. Holly can't even wipe her tears, her body's so broken, but her heartache is worse. She remembers what she'd seen in the ice: 2 bodies, clasped in a loving embrace; blood dripping; a gold necklace; a brown suitcase. The nurse tells her it's been 8 months since the accident. And that her mom died last month.
Regi is 22, works at a car wash. Regi's mom uses drugs. She's in a relationship with her boss, Thomas, who's also her supplier. She's a good mom, they live in a 3b house in Seattle. He takes $50 from Thomas's wallet, takes Thomas's '78 Trans-Am cruising. He backs out of a convenience store parking spot into a Stingray. Mr Carson tells him his men will be in touch.
3 years later Holly has changed her name to Amber Hope and moved from Seattle to Brambleton. Doctors called her a medical miracle. Victoria, Milton's ex-wife, had smeared her in social media, saying she'd engineered Milton's death, because Milton bequeathed her a lot of money and Victoria got none, and has locked the estate in litigation. She was constantly getting money requests from friends and strangers, though no money from Milton yet. She needed a new start. She still isn't over what happened, nightmares every night. Her $1.7M is from Mom. Holly works from home. Nobody believes her about the bodies. She remembers touching the man's shoe, but nothing about the rescue or the 8 months. Holly sits down with her dinner to watch TV, sees a newscast about a National Geographic photographer and an older woman holding a photo with a sad story. She recognizes the man in the photo.
Regi is chased by thugs, beaten, then taken in a van.
Holly has a hideous burn scar that covers her entire cheek. Doctors can't help. Her life had become an endless search for distractions. Anything to stop her mind from drifting to her previous life. A life that’d been filled with loving family and friends. A life where she was giddy with love for the most amazing man in the world. A life where she was free from pain and disfigurement. Not anymore, though. She now has a mission. She's determined to get into shape, and has set the goal today to walk by the only gym, which has rock climbing. The owner, Oliver Nelson, seems genuinely interested in his clients.
EVALUATION Wow! I read this throughout the Super Bowl because I was so worried for the 3 main characters. Very good character development in the first part of the book, then the intense mountain scenes, then a satisfying ending. The friendships and romance build naturally.
I really appreciated how the author deals with scars, that most people get over the shock and no longer see them. Well done. I disagree with Kelli; self-inflicted scars are evidence of great internal battles and, like Holly's scars, reveal survivors.
RECOMMENDATION Adults who like romance, suspense, and/or mountain winter sports
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS (SPOILERS) Sex: casual nudity at Carson's, 3 scenes Language: 48 f***, 27 Lord's name in vain, 45 s*** Violence: severe beatings, crashes, murder, infidelity
Good action scenes; male protagonist is nice guy but lacks sophistication
The opening action scene is compelling. The jump to waking up from a coma with no explanation of the rescue is annoying.
The female protagonist is a good role model in that she overcomes her trauma by helping someone else. At one point, though, she takes a walk for 11 minutes in 3-inch heels, which isn’t practical. She also divulges confidential client notes she is transcribing, which is unethical. In spite of these two lapses in judgment, and being in life and death situations by not speaking up, she’s likable and spunky.
The bad guys in this story lack motivation. They are jerks just to be jerks, or maybe one has a mental health problem? The action scene with Pope at the end of the book seems forced. There are lots of topless and naked women mentioned at the bad guy’s lair as well as hot cars. There is also lots of physical violence mentioned in passing as well as drug use and addiction.
The young man who keeps getting beat up is a mysterious character who appears with no connection to anything until halfway through the book. He seems like a gawky teen with little maturity even through the final action scene, so he needs more evident growth before his final transformation.
The male protagonist is just a nice guy. Super nice. Like sainthood, affable, no character flaws, nice. As in boringly nice. Thus the sex scenes are almost mechanical and predictable. Except they don’t use a condom, which is alarming.
The final confrontation scene reveals a feisty side of the female lead, and there’s quite a bit of profanity. It’s a rather abrupt change from the sweet romance plot line. The change is just weird.
The overall plot is intriguing, but the mystery in the cave is explained way too soon with no complications, which means it has no climax, just a sweet denouement.
**I received a copy of Extreme Limit from Xpresso Book Tours and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way.**
Extreme Limit by Kendall Talbot is the first (Or second if you read this under it's previous name) book in her Maximum Exposure series while the author is new to me the Canadian Rockies aren't having visited them years ago. This book is a fly by the seat of your pants adventure. I will have to check out the the rest of the series there are snippets at the end of the book.
Holly Parameter (AKA Amber Hope) not only survives a helicopter crash but also the loss of her fiance' and his son. But it's what she sees that will not only haunt and give her a reason to find out the truth behind what she saw in the crevasse on Whiskey Mountain. Since no one believes she saw bodies, she sets out to learn how to ski, mountain climbing and rock climb to prove them wrong. When she meet Oliver owner of the rock gym there's a spark as well as admiration of her determination. But when she tells him why and her secret past will he stay and help or run for the hills?
There are two different stories in the plot with both Holly/Amber and a young man Regi who's being not only exploited by a criminal and but is also shocked to find out how he's connected to Holly and her late fiance'. It's confusing early on but works out in the end . All in all Extreme Limit is worthy of a four stars rating.
The first half of this book reads like two separate stories that don’t seem to have any connection.
Holly/Amber’s story is several years after the helicopter crash that forever altered her life. She’s on a mission and needs to learn how to climb, ski and mountaineer. She meets Oliver Nelson the owner of the rock wall climbing/fitness center and over time their attraction to each other begins to surface.
The other story is about a young man, Reginald Tate who ends up in debt to a rich man when he backs the vintage TransAm he ‘borrowed’ from his mother’s boyfriend into a pristine Stingray Corvette. He owes more money than he knows and for years has to do odd favors and survive bettings at the whim of Jeremiah Carson.
I had some difficulty getting interested in either one of these storylines as they are told almost as a narrative and if events. Based on previous books I’ve read by Kendall and the fantastic reviews this book received, I kept reading and I’m glad I did.
The second half of the book is much more exciting and suspenseful! The storyline becomes riveting and makes up for the slow and somewhat dry first half - and these two separate storylines connect with a bang!
I received a free ARC from the author and Hidden Gems; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
Extreme Limit is book one in the Maximum Exposure by Kendall Talbot. Holly Parmenter went on a holiday ride with her boyfriend. The helicopter crashed, and Holly was the only survivor. However, Holly could not forget what she saw that day and decided to go back to find the answers. Holly could not do that with learning to ski and mountain climb, and how Oliver became involved in her endeavour to climb the Canadian Rockies. The readers of Extreme Limit will continue to follow Holly to find out what happens.
Extreme Limit was an enjoyable book to read. I all ways seem to engage with a book written by Kendall Talbot and Extreme Limit did not disappoint. I love Kendall Talbot portrayal of her characters and the way they intertwine with each other throughout this book. Extrem Limit was well written and researched by Kendall Talbot. I like Kendall Talbot description of the settings of Extreme Limit that allow me to imagine the cold and climbing the Canadian Rockies.
The readers of Extreme Limit will learn about rock climbing and the benefits it can do for everyone involved. Also, the readers of Extreme Limit will understand the importance of finding love ones after they go missing.
Extreme Limit is the first book in Kendall Talbot’s thrilling action-adventure romance series Maximum Exposure. It is a full-length standalone novel with a a great storyline, fantastic characters and a happily ever after.
This is the first book that I have read written by this amazing artist and I can’t wait the read the rest of this nail biting series, as well as her other books. Wow! I am so glad I discovered Talbot on netgalley.

This was a voluntary review of a reader’s advance copy received from netgalley.
There are two stories running side by side through much of the book. I had trouble keeping up with both in the beginning because one was very interesting to me and the other was kinda meh. That's just me though. I've been fascinated by 'surviving a plane crash in the wilderness of Canada,' theme since I was teaching 25 years ago. Talbott does an outstanding job of surviving at the same site in the wilderness twice in one book. She also takes you along for a ride as a survivor of abuse by thugs. They enjoy beating the life out of one of the characters on numerous occasions. You'll meet wealthy, disgusting, dishonest people, sincerely sweet and ethical characters, devious ones, liars, and jealous ones. The characters are well developed and strong enough that you can really connect with them. Even some of the less desirable ones may win you over and have you in their corner rooting for them. Holly wins the award for best all round character. She is so tough and relentless. She couldn't have made it though without her trainer from the climbing wall gym. The setting is beautiful and make you want to go to Alaska or Canada to check out a few icy peaks.
**This ARC was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.** Holly Parmenter is a survivor and it's a miracle that she is alive. But, she's not only left with a horrible disfigurement, but she is also left with a lingering doubt, something she witnessed, that is so incredible that no one actually believes it is true.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I was really pleasantly surprised! First of all, our heroine has a huge scar marring her otherwise beautiful face. I thought the author did an excellent job of bringing the character's inner beauty to light. I enjoyed seeing her evolve and gain confidence; and I loved that the characters surrounding her saw past her outer "defects."
Also, the mystery surrounding the crash sight victims was seriously interesting and unexpected. The author did an amazing job of weaving and detailing the events of the plot into a real page-turner. The characters were well developed and believable, and the plot had just enough mystery with twists and turns to keep me from putting the book down until late into the night.
This was a solid 4 star read, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
This was my first book from this author and I am hooked! It was a great combination of mystery, thriller and romance! I absolutely loved it and love the authors writing style. I will be reading more from her.
Holly and Oliver meet and his rock climbing gym. Holly has been through a tragedy that has left her scarred and hiding from the world. She was in a helicopter crash where everyone died but her. After the crash she saw something they no one believes, 2 lovers bodies frozen together. She starts rock climbing so that she can find them again bring their family closure. Through this Holly and Oliver’s relationship develops and they eventually fall in love. He offers to go with her on this climbing trip. Along the way there are twists and turns that make it harder for this to happen! The ending is great and unexpected!!
Once again Kendall as given us a edge of the seat ride that just keeps punching us with adrenaline and never eases off Not only do we have an all alpha male lead in Oliver Nelson but a strong in her own way Holly Parmenter. Holly leaves to head to Whiskey Mountain in Canada with her wealthy fiancé and his son but a horrific helicopter crash leaves her as the sole survivor and also inheriting his estate. Now his ex wife is accusing her of been a gold digger and the press has jumped on it. Scarred and hiding Holly sees a tv show about a missing couple and realises she has seen them before yes frozen near the helicopter crash site Now she has to learn the skills to go back to the mountain and that will take Oliver. Can they both survive when someone wants to keep the fate of the lost couple a secret and will they give attraction between them You will have to read to see
I grabbed this book looking for a new author for suspense with romance factoring in. Unfortunately in contrast to all the other very positive reviews I found it to be rather boring. The characters were not too well fleshed out, their supposed attributes rather contradictory. There were rather few actual conversations which could have enhanced the dynamics in the building relationships. Instead too much time was wasted on boring details. Compared to the similar Northern Lights by Nora Roberts the suspense and romance factor was massively lacking. So I guess it’s time to do another reread of Mrs Roberts book. Won’t be reading more of this author, so I‘m still in on the hunt for a worthy successor to my personal faves Sandra Brown and NR. Happy for any suggestions...
Oliver and Holly kept me on the edge of my seat with this exciting story. She is the sole survivor of a helicopter crash that took the lives of her fiance and his son. His ex-wife is accusing her of being a gold digger and the press has got on board with the story. Holly has gone into hiding but when a couple who has gone missing Holly remembers seeing the couple while up in the mountains encased in ice. She asks Oliver to train and take her up the mountain back to the sight, but someone doesn't want that couple found. Will Oliver and Holly make it back alive from their excursion and will their relationship turn into something More? I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
This is the first book I have read by this author and the ARC was provided by Hidden Gems. Although when you read the synopsis it could sound like a standard adventure romance story, I found this author to create a different world that I enjoyed, and might be reading more of with KU. At times it was hard to see where the two story lines were going to connect, but enjoyed how they were brought together. Also, the romance piece was a slow burn but I found that to be true to the characters as opposed to just a trope for the book. Definitely a lot of adventure and a strong heroine who is on a mission that is interesting and draws the reader in!!
I absolutely loved this book and did not want it to end. The book starts by slowly describing the events leading up to the main adventure. This works great because it gives the reader time to fall in love with Holly and Oliver and even start to like Regi. Then when they start their expedition, the reader gets drawn into the heart racing action that makes it impossible to put the story down. It was so amazing watching Holly come out of her shell throughout the entire story. I can't wait to read my next Kendall Talbot story.
Extreme Limits had my heart racing from the first one to the last. It is one action-packed, nail-biting rollercoaster of a ride! But that is not all: It is a heart-warming romance as well and a testament to what can be done with loads of inner strength and determination - Holly is such an incredible woman. I loved how two apparently unconnected storylines come together to create an explosive twist. This will definitely go on my keeper shelf! I was fortunate to reveive a copy of this book and am leaving this review honestly and voluntarily.
