Romancing Christmas is book five in the Brothers in Arms series by Kate Aster. This is my first book of Kate’s and it can be read as a stand alone. This is a holiday romance that was so cleverly told.
Ava is a divorced single mom to her eight year old son, Nicholas. They live in Annapolis, Maryland. Nicholas has some health problems and Ava’s life revolves around him.
Harris is thirty two years old and is an ex-Navy Seal and is now a Navy intelligence officer. Harris is only in Annapolis for six more months before the Navy sends him somewhere new. He hasn’t even taken the time to get to know any of his neighbors since he travels a lot for work. But when he gets a strange request from his friend’s wife to build a snowman in the front yard...well, lets just say his entire life took a new turn that day.
As soon as these two meet, there is an instant connection, that rare spark that we all love so much. Neither has had any time for dating. But as they start to spend time together, they realize that they were lonely, that they craved the warmth of another human being. True feelings take months to cultivate, right? There’s no way that their feelings for each other could have grown so big after only two dates. Could it just be all the emotions from Christmas? Are they just opening up themselves to a broken heart when Harris has to leave again?

This was a sweet, sexy holiday read that I enjoyed. These two just seemed to fit together but their lives are both in turmoil. They just needed to find a way to make things work. And I loved the matchmaking skills of their friend, Freya. I didn’t get to this story before Christmas. I’m running a little late with my holiday books. But it returned all the warm and fuzzy feelings of the season.

Non vi è nulla di più bello di una lettura natalizia fatta proprio in questi giorni di festa in cui sono molto più propensa a sognare ad occhi aperti e, credetemi, con questo libro è stato ancora più semplice lasciarsi andare alla magia del Natale perché la storia di Ava e Harris è talmente dolce e semplice che non ho fatto alcuna fatica ad immaginare tutte le scene. Tutto inizia grazie all’intromissione di una fata madrina e il risultato è davvero piacevole.
Ava è una mamma single che si è annullata in quanto donna fin da quando al suo bambino è stato diagnosticato un problema cardiaco. Non le è mai pesato più di tanto dedicarsi anima e corpo al suo piccolo ma ogni tanto fa capolino in lei la donna giovane e desiderabile che ancora è, soprattutto da quando ha adocchiato gli addominali del suo vicino di casa.
Harris è un ex Navy Seal che, a causa del suo lavoro, si sposta spesso da un luogo all’altro con molta frequenza. Certo non gli è mai pesato più di tanto non avere un luogo fisso in cui tornare ma da quando ha fatto un pupazzo di neve con il figlio della vicina e aver trascorso con loro una bella serata inizia a vedere il Natale sotto un’altra luce spinto anche dalla bellezza di quella donna che sembra una piccola guerriera per il suo bambino.
Harris si sente attratta da Ava ma non vorrebbe mai illuderla. Ava, dal canto suo vorrebbe poter assaporare di nuovo la sua giovinezza ma da mamma non vorrebbe mai illudere il suo bambino che cerca da sempre una figura maschile a cui fare riferimento.
Eppure, c’è quel qualcosa in più che li spinge, inesorabilmente, l’uno verso l’altra.
Mi sono divertita a trascorrere un pomeriggio insieme a questi due personaggi, molto credibili e poco stereotipati che scoprono di volere e di meritare più di quanto hanno avuto fino a questo momento. Insomma, se si ha voglia di leggere una storia con due protagonisti che sembrano essere stati creati per essere l’uno il complemento dell’atro ma che sarebbero anche pronti a sacrificarsi per il bene altrui non si può fare a meno di leggere una delle storie di questa autrice che riesce a raccontare l’amore in un modo semplice ma ammantandolo di magia. I suoi Navy Seals sono spettacolari dal punto di vista fisico ma hanno un cuore così grande da far capitolare anche le donne più disilluse dall’amore.

A cute read for the holidays. Freya is a secondary character who is a romance author with a knack for matchmaking. She decides it’s time to push her husband’s friend Harris together with his next door neighbor, Ava. Harris is a SEAL who is reassigned every two years. Ava is a divorced mom to eight year old Nicholas, a boy who has heart problems and has already undergone three surgeries and may need more in the future. They live in Annapolis because they have the best pediatric cardiac surgeon. So, there would be no following Harris in six months, even if they had a relationship. But while Nicholas is at his dad’s for the Christmas break, they can certainly have a little fun.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.

Kate Aster ci regala un altro dei suoi meravigliosi e romanticissimi romanzi in cui tutti gli elementi si sposano alla perfezione creando una trama perfetta.
Abbiamo conosciuto negli altri episodi (qualcuno l’ho perso e lo sto recuperando per completezza) gli altri componenti della famiglia Adler; Freya, la moglie di Mason, da buona autrice di romance ha sempre in testa frecce di cupido da far scoccare alle persone che ha intorno e questa volta sarà il turno di Harris, ex navy seal e collega dei fratelli Adler.
Mettiamo nella planetaria:
1 ex navy seal fighissimo ora membro dell’ Intelligence
1 donna divorziata con figlio a carico
1 bambino al quale manca la figura paterna
Miscelate con atmosfera natalizia in grandi quantitativi, insaporite con pupazzi di neve, canti di natale e profumate con abete fresco.
Infornate per 40 minuti e avrete il vostro delizioso romance natalizio.
Ava e Harris non sanno di far parte di un piano ben congegnato da Freya per farli incontrare, nonostante siano vicini di casa da un anno e mezzo, e l’intuito della già signora Adler ha fatto centro.
Ava vive la sua vita in funzione del figlio Nicholas di 8 anni, cardiopatico, e ha accantonato la sua vita da donna per dedicarsi totalmente ai bisogni del ragazzino.
“Non è questa la vita che una donna si immagina, quando pronuncia le promesse nuziali. E nemmeno quando dice a suo marito che sta per diventare padre”
Nicholas è un bambino sveglio e pieno di entusiasmo che farà da tramite inconsapevole fra la madre e Harris.
Harris è in attesa del trasferimento che nel giro di sei mesi lo destinerà a una base ancora ignota, vive di pasti precotti, vive in solitudine e questa cosa comincia a pesare soprattutto durante le festività.
La trama è semplice e prevedibile ma per questo assolutamente deliziosa e “confortevole”
Avremo un uomo e una donna che scopriranno quanto sia facile innamorarsi quando si trova la persona giusta, di quanto sia naturale affezionarsi a un bambino che non conoscevi fino a pochi giorni prima, di quanto sia bello riscoprire la tua identità di donna e tirare fuori dai cassetti quelle esigenze che si erano accantonate per il bene di tuo figlio e, infine, di come cominci a pesarti la vita in missione e desideri mettere finalmente radici.
Sarà l’influsso del Natale nella bellissima Annapolis?
Scorrevolissimo, personaggi adorabili, ambientazioni natalizie assolutamente deliziose, doppio pov per dar voce ai pensieri, sentimenti e dubbi di entrambi.
Un romanzo carino, leggero e adatto da leggere in questo periodo di feste.

That is what Freya attends to do for her Husband Mason's former seal mate. Freya is determined to get Harris former Navy SEAL together with his next door neighbor & single mom Ava for the Holiday's & HEA for the perfect scene in her new novel
Harris doesn't expect much during the Holiday season. Since he can be away at a moments notice being a Navy officer, in intelligence. I'm home for at least 6 months & have rented my former Seal's mate's old apartment. Where next door is single mom Ava & her 8 yr. old son Nicolaus. I've said hello in the last 18m months but never have been acquainted with them formally.
Not until Mason's wife Freda has asked me to make a snow man outside the home of m y basement apartment to help the owner find another tenant before I get my orders.
I don't make Snowmen, but Freda knows what's best. At least that is what Mason says. So when she says make a snowman at 15:30 I do it. Not sure why, but something to do with the sunset?
That is when I get the chance to meet Nicholas. He is Ava's 8 yr. old son, who happens to be coming home from guitar practice & would love to help me make a snowman. Nicolas is very found of military men. Which is why I get invited to a home cooked meal by Nicolas.
I get to interact & feel like a part of a family dynamic even for a short while during the holidays. I don't how Ava does it all by herself, then on top of it deal with a son that has a heart condition.
Ava loves' Christmas, & does all the holiday things within the community.

Can two people fall in love in a matter of weeks? If so are they willing to admit to it? Can Harris believe he can fit in the life of a mom & son?
Read the steamy but sweet romantic love story of a Navy man & the strong, loving, selfless single Mom.
I found this story, heartfelt, sensual, loving, I ached for the two to be together & live HEA with Nichols's & their friends.

Un romantico Natale è il quinto capitolo della serie Brothers in Arms di Kate Aster, edito da Triskell Edizioni.
Giunti al quinto libro, l'autrice ha ormai abituati i suoi lettori a uomini sexy in divisa e donne indipendenti e forti che cercano di resistere al fascino che emanano. Questa volta si aggiunge un elemento in più, la magia del Natale.
Harris e Ava, i nostri due protagonisti, sembrerebbero non avere scampo, ma non è poi così facile orchestrare un lieto fine, e questo Freya, artefice di tutto, lo sa bene.
Harris vive la sua vita passando da una base militare all'altra, senza stabilità e legami. Dopo un incidente che non gli ha permesso di proseguire la sua carriera da Navy Seal, Harris si è reinventato dedicando tutto se stesso al suo lavoro nell'intelligence, dimenticandosi, però, della sfera personale che adesso risulta ricca di amici ma povera d'amore.
La stessa dedizione, in questo caso però verso il figlio, l'ha adottata Ava, che si ritrova ad essere una mamma single con ansie e paure. Ava è una donna che vive sotto rigide regole così da tenere tutto sempre sotto controllo, in particolare la salute precaria del figlio.
L'incontro tra Harris e Ava non è di certo un caso, ma orchestrato da una mente romantica che cerca di sfruttare a pieno le potenzialità del Natale. Pupazzi di nave, alberi di Natale, biscotti e cori natalizi sono solo alcuni degli elementi che giocano a favore dei due vicini di casa, che prima di quel momento si erano evitati.
A rendere tutto ancora più dolce c'è Nicholas, figlio di Ava, che con la sua arguzia e ingenuità, permetterà ad entrambi i protagonisti di oltrepassare quel muro d'indifferenza dietro cui si erano barricati.
Incontro dopo incontro, Harris e Ava si scoprono non solo attratti ma affini, tanto da rimettere in discussione la loro intera vita.

Questo romanzo di Kate Aster rispetta ciò che il titolo promette, un libro romantico, senza troppi colpi di scena o preoccupazioni, da leggere davanti un camino acceso e sullo sfondo un albero che ne illumina con le sue lucine le pagine per immergersi totalmente nell'atmosfera del Natale.

Per chi come me aspettava la storia di Harris si è rivelata una gioia leggerne le vicende. Dopo essere stato “torturato" da Freya durante la settimana in crociera, non ha più voglia di fidarsi di lei. Ma quando la tua migliore amica ti chiede di costruire un pupazzo di neve alle 15.30 non puoi proprio tirarti indietro.
Ed proprio così che Harris finalmente ha modo di conoscere il suo piccolo vicino Nicholas e sua mamma Ava.
Ava ha sofferto abbastanza in amore e di certo conoscere un uomo che a breve se ne andrà per un’altra collocazione assegnatagli dal governo, non è di certo nei suoi piani.
Ma Harris è attraente, dolce e seducente e piano piano sfonda quella corazza.
"Era più facile quando non lo conoscevo. Così potevo pensare a lui come all’ennesimo inarrivabile Navy Seal che abita nella casa accanto. Era più facile anche quando non sapevo quanto potesse essere gentile con mio figlio, o quanto fosse potente la sensazione delle nostre dita che si sfioravano mentre mi aiutava con i piatti."

Le farfalle che sento nello stomaco quasi mi fanno mancare il fiato. Ma che accidenti…? Pensavo che quel tipo di sensazioni ormai fossero ibernate.
Oh oh oh eccoci Magnetici nel periodo più bello dell’anno, quello in cui i bambini attendono i doni e gli adulti fanno i bravi, il Natale, cosa vi ha portato di bello?Per Harris, amico e testimone di Mason, sarà un Natale indimenticabile, anche per la nostra Freya che aveva deciso di accoppiare questo ragazzo e alla fine con un sotterfugio degno di una scrittrice di romance riesce nel suo intento.
Non voglio che la serata finisca qui. Se lo invito dentro, penserà che voglio fare sesso con lui? Se lo invito dentro, avrò l’occasione di fare sesso con lui?
Harris occupa l’appartamento che un tempo era stato di Mason, e proprio lì a due passi vive Ava con suo figlio, e quale occasione migliore per farli avvicinare se non il magico Natale, e il periodo che Ava passa sola poiché il bambino è dal padre?
Mi metto in punta di piedi e, quando lo faccio, lui capisce e piega la testa in avanti per baciarmi. Assaporo la sensazione delle sue labbra sulle mie e inspiro a fondo il suo odore mascolino che, ne sono certa, mi farà per sempre ripensare a questo istante.
Una storia breve, ricca di magia e di amore.Una madre che sacrifica il suo tempo e la sua vita in funzione del figlio. Una donna dolcissima, ma forte che ama il suo unico bene.Harris è un coccolone, un uomo dalla corazza dura, ma dal cuore morbido. Sano di principi e forti bicipiti. La Aster non ci delude, riempie le pagine di amore, di famiglia che non è fatta solo di legami di sangue, ma di legami profondi come l’amicizia…Le sue scene spicy non mancano.Come ho detto all’inizio la storia è breve, ma non vi lascerà delusi.Buone feste e buona lettura.

This was a great book! Although this is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. The author seamlessly adds in the characters so I don’t feel as if I missed anything from the previous books. This is Harris and Ava’s story.
Harris is a Navy officer and former SEAL who is at the end of his two year assignment and awaiting new orders. He doesn’t mix in with the neighbors as he is never in one place too long. His friend’s wife comes up with a plan to introduce him to his beautiful, single mother, neighbor and her son.
Ava is a single Mom and circumstances beyond her control,have kept her that way. She has focused all of her energy on her son and rightfully so. Her ex husband left when the going got tough. She doesn’t do attachments and has forgotten what it is like to love and be loved until her handsome neighbor starts making her feel again.
These two have amazing chemistry. The author does a great job of allowing us to feel right along with them. Her hesitation to start something she knows must end and his hesitation because he knows he is leaving and this only ends one way. Their pull to one another is too strong and we get to enjoy watching them figure it out. There is romance, sexy time, humor and passion. I enjoyed it up until the epilogue. The whole story is told in Ava and Harris’s POV, but the epilogue is told in Freva’s POV. Yes, she was the secret matchmaker, but I would have liked to have the ending by the main characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I set the bar pretty low when it comes to the holidays.

She’s also got a son… and roots dug deep into this picturesque holiday town. Roots that make life with a Navy guy like me impossible.
Ava is the last thing I need. Yet she’s all I want for Christmas.

A good Christmas read.
This is the first story from this series that I have read and I just loved Ava, Harris and Nicholas, I thought they were lovely characters. I wasn't so sure about Freya to be honest, but wonder if I go back to the start of this series I might see her differently. I loved seeing the connection and chemistry between Harris and Ava spark and grow, I thought they made a great couple and I believed they had a future together. Personally I would have liked to have seen how things went as they committed to making a go of things as the jump to two years later left me with some questions, not enough to ruin the story but enough for me to still be thinking about them after I had finished reading.

I was surprised by this book, didn't think I'd enjoy it so much. It's well written, has a good plot, and was a pleasure to read. Even though it's a Christmas story and a romance novel it isn't sappy. I don't like to write a summary of the story in my reviews but take it from me this one is different. I wanted to see what would happen next in their relationship and read well into the early morning hours. The story pulls you into the lives of the mother, her son, and the Marine. You will want them to have a "happily ever after" and hope they find a way to make it happen in spite of all the obstacles.

the girl from the first book, the author , set him up to build a snowman at 330p when she knew the neighbor lady was coming home from picking her son up from school. they helped with the snowman. the boy has heart surgery and the mom is divorced
while the boy is with his dad for xmas break, they fall in love and go to bed
but then she breaks it off knowing he will be moved in 6 months and she cant leave her sons drs.
but then he tells her he can get based closer and 2 yrs later they marry

A sweet HEA.
Ava a single mom with a fragile son who has had many surgeries. Tough for a divorced mom who puts everyone before her own needs. Harris, an officer in THE Navy, He's single with no children, but meeting Ava he falls in love with her. It's a story of love, compassion, protection, and of finding a chance AR real love and commitment . I enjoyed the story. As a previous single mom, I knew the emotions and hesitation with new relationships. I think many ladies would enjoy this book.👍❤

This was a fun read, perfect for a quiet day. I curled up on the couch, covered myself with a plush soft blanket and read the whole thing. As I finished, I was surprised to see that the house was dark; I didn't even notice. That's what I love about kindles.
All this plot needed to get started was Freya, the matchmaker. She was marvelous at setting the scene and nature took over.

'Romancing Christmas' was delightful. Moreover, the enthralling page-turning plot was filled with sacrifices, hilarity, and love. The protagonists, Harris and Ava, were ideally suited for each other and gushed with chemistry. I liked the author's writing style: well-written characters, a fascinating setting, and a romantic storyline that included a tad of adversity. Overall, I really liked the narrative.

With her cute son who has to fight for his health, and an epiphany when she finally decides her feelings are just as important as her ex’s, she makes for an interesting character. Harris is adorable and a great man. I love military romances!

Che dire forse questo nella sua semplicità e storia breve è quello che mi è piaciuto di più, anche se l ho rimandato più volte convinta che mi avrebbe lasciato un po con l'amaro in bocca come gli altri. Mi ha ricordato molto quei film di natale che guardo sempre in questo periodo su tv8, quelli che mi piacciono proprio per la loro semplicità anche se a volte possono tendere a ripetersi, delle storie romantiche proprio sotto il periodo di natale. 5 stelle

This was a sweet romance. Two people who need one another. Harris and single mom Ava, get to spend sometime together while Nicholas is at his dads for the holiday. These two finally let down some walls. But then reality sets in but these two are already deep. Very entertaining.
