She's being held captive.
He's the only one who can save her.

She suddenly finds herself at the mercy of men who stole her to extract information from her father, a powerful Senator. At first she doesn't panic; she likes to think she's pretty tough. But when days turn into weeks and no one rushes to her rescue, she begins to give up hope.

Memphis Prescott is a simple country veterinarian who keeps his head down, working in the rural farms of the Midwest. But he has a secret. A dangerous one. He thought he put his past behind him until two men show up unannounced: one with a taser, the other with the photo of a missing young woman. Now Memphis is in a race against time to find the one woman who is guaranteed to turn his quiet world into a fight for both of their lives.

Using his unique powers to find Thayer was the easy part. Keeping her alive may be impossible.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: Protector
Angst: 😰😰
Smexy: 🔥🔥
Triggers: past sexual abuse

Intangible is the first book in the Inhuman Protector series by Avery Samson and the first book I've read by this author. I enjoyed this book! It was definitely a more original story. Memphis has a "special ability" that has him being targeted to find Thayer Kent, a kidnapped senator's daughter, despite hiding out as a rural veterinarian for the past couple of years. The connection between the two is immediate. He makes her feel safe and she makes him feel a connection he though impossible due to his past. I really liked Memphis. He was caring and intuitive both to her needs as well as his own. Super excited to read the next book in the series!

Action-filled, warm characters – it had it all…

I simply LOVED this rollicking romantic suspense! With shades of paranormal, and a whole lot of action, I would have been happy with that but… The characters stole the show. Thayer and Memphis were chemistry and connection as they met under deadly circumstances that haunted their romance. From their very first interaction there was something between them…

And that connection turned into so much more as they tried to stay one step ahead of an unknown enemy. They were both sweet in their own way, with Memphis surprisingly vulnerable and shy, even as he proved to be the best of protectors. Thayer dealt with every stunning blow with a composure and intelligence that he could only admire. And fall for…

And they weren’t the only ones in this story to capture my heart… If you have only one story to read right now, I definitely recommend it be this one. Then you can join me in book stalking as I wait for the next in the series. Great read!

I thought this book was intriguing, fresh and irresistible. A captivating blend of suspense, tension, drama, emotion and intensity creates a real edge of your seat, must keep reading situation that had me firmly ensnared and thrilled to be so. The characters were likable and the story consuming. There is such a clever concept behind this series and I for one can't wait to enjoy more of it. Bring on book 2 ASAP! This is my frank, freely posted review.

Memphis is a country veterinarian with a secret, he keeps to himself, and has put his past far behind him. Or so he thought, until the day his past comes knocking and it’s a race against the clock to save the senator’s daughter, Thayer. This was a unique story with strong characters and a complex plot, a great dialogue, and with plenty of action and drama to keep you on the edge seat to read what would happen next. I can’t wait for the next book!

Intangible was interesting, entertaining and romantic. I love reading about survival-love scenarios. Big life events with life or death situations always promise to suck me right in. I really liked the writing and the author does a good job with side characters.
The romance was sweet and the suspenseful situations were even better. I’m usually more invested in just the romance but this was so good that I couldn’t wait to see the ending. I’m glad there will be a book 2. Will I read another by this author? Yes.

Saying Memphis has had a roller coaster of a life so far might be an understatement. But, finally, he's found a place he can settle. A place that is predictable, or as much as it can be for the only veterinarian in the area. Somewhere safe and quiet. Until he returns from work one day and is thrust into a high stakes race to save a senator's daughter. Now his world will never be the same. Everything he thought he wanted just flew out the window.

I hope you enjoy Intangible. Prepare for a hard dive into the world of the Inhuman Protectors series. Thank you for reading!

“Am I just something you need to work out of your system to move on?”

Whatever you think this book is about, you’re probably wrong, at least I know I was. Based on the blurb and the title of the series “Inhuman Protectors” I thought this would be a paranormal book. It’s not. It’s a Romantic Suspense book with a hero that has a special gift.

Don’t misunderstand. I enjoyed the book very much. I adored Memphis and Thayer was an interesting heroine. The supporting characters were diverse and engaging, especially Knox and Memphis’s extended family. The action and the plot is the main focus of the book, not the romance. That’s ok, I just think it should be mentioned. That being said this is still very much an adult book, with adult language and open door scenes.

I only have two real complaints. First, the author needs a better editor. There are way too many grammatical and language errors not to mention all the inconsistencies and and confusing actions.

My other complaint is in regards to Memphis’s “gift”. The author seemed to change the way it worked to suit the story and then threw in a new rule for his ability to serve the plot, right near the end.

Despite these issues I really did enjoy the book and will probably read others in the series.

The story starts off with the h (20 yrs old) falling asleep in her
dorm room and waking up somewhere else, having been
kidnapped.

At least 3 kidnappers. She was tied up, blindfolded, and gagged
with a cloth around her mouth.

“She had better not have been damaged,” . . . “I need them to
believe they'll get her back in one piece. "

The H (33 yrs old), Memphis, had gone to vet school in Oklahoma
as soon as he left the Army after 6 years. He stayed in the Army
longer than planned after they had found out about "his gift."
He technically had a rank and was assigned to a Green Beret unit,
but it was all classified. But that gift earned him enough money to
buy a small house and a Veterinary clinic.

“I’m James Kent,” the suit told him. So this was Senator Kent from
Connecticut. “My daughter, Thayer, was abducted 2 weeks ago from her college dorm. The FBI has been unable to find any trace of her, even with the information we've been sent. Knox
mentioned he might know someone who could help us. I'm
afraid I used my pull on the SASC, Senate Armed Services
Committee to request your file, which was heavily redacted.
There were no specifics on how you are able to find people like
you can, but you have an extremely high success rate.”

Overall, I liked this story. It never got boring and is good enough to read once.

A unique story with some paranormal elements, suspense, intrigue and romance.

Thayer is the daughter of a power Senator and was kidnapped from her college dorm room while she was sleeping. Her father and the man who has been her tutor/bodyguard/pseudo big brother seek out Memphis to help find her due to his unusual skills.

The storyline is told from multiple POVs - Thayer, Memphis and Knox. I enjoyed how the storyline kept evolving and adding more nuances and details to what at first seemed somewhat simple - it’s not and what it becomes is something just so good, so enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining.

The book is the start of what I believe will be a very fun and enjoyable series to read. I’ve enjoyed several other books by the author, but this is the first one I’ve read where Avery included paranormal and suspense in her storyline.

I highly recommend readers give this book a chance because it truly is a fantastic read.

I received an ARC from the author and Hidden Gems, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book caught my imagination. A senator's daughter kidnapped for reasons unknown. An ex army man turned small town vet pulled back in to help find her, his secret powers making him the best man for the job.

Memphis tried hard to get away from that life because of how much it takes out of him, searching for people only to find them dead most of the time. We can only imagine the emotional toll that would have on a person, especially when they've had a hard life to begin with. Thayer is strong though, fighting to survive, but she needs his help to do that.

The action at the beginning of the book grabbed me, after the initial resolution I had a hard time keeping my attention focused for some reason, but the action quickly picked up again and I enjoyed the rest of the book. There are quite a few twists and turns, some unexpected connections, and the ending was happy with an epilogue that promises more adventures to come.

I received a free copy of this book and I'm leaving a voluntary review.

Being a veterinarian in a small town helps Memphis keep his head down and out of trouble. He hopes no one will ever again learn of the deep dark secret that once turned his life upside down.
Before Memphis knew it he was tied to a chair while one of the intruders was threatening him if he didn't help them. Surely they couldn't know of his special ability could they? The other was a senator. His daughter had been kidnapped and there were no leads. He was desperate.
After rescuing Thayer, Memphis and Knox must do everything in their power to protect her from the abductors boss.
Mystery, suspense, action packed drama and a good dose of humour.
Loved the lightness of paranormal, Memphis's brothers ragging on each other (family bond), Knox, Thayer's courage and the two mom's.
Thank you Hidden Gems and the author for a digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This is a new author for me and the first book in a new series. I lost track of time reading this and couldn't put it down until I had finished, and then I wanted to be able to go on and read book two straightaway!

There were so many good characters in this and as I read it I was trying to work out if they were a one off or if they would appear in the rest of the series. There was one character that I wanted to hit and hug (at different times). I enjoyed the twists and turns to the story, the suspense, family, banter, trust, support, para aspects and the different perspectives. I loved the connection between Memphis and Thayer and seeing their relationship develop. The way he loved and protected her made me swoon, they empowered and supported each other and had each others backs always. I hope to see more of them and their family as this series unfolds. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.

Thayer was honestly so strong even with everything she went through, I mean not everyday you are locked in a cage to be used to extract information.

Memphis was just trying to live a life away from deployment and helping find lost soldiers. Therfore, when he is approached forcefully to help find Thayer he is determined to stay in his life of solitude. In the end, he helps find Thayer and they grew a connection that they couldn't have forged if the events hadn't occurred

Memphis using his powers for good, helped protect Thayer as best as he could in his astral form to keep her safe and sane knowing that help was coming and that she wasn't alone even though it felt that way.

such a good book I'd fully recommend it.

I almost didn’t finish this book. I set it aside and when I returned to it, I was evidently prepared to wade through some of the sexual interest. I don’t have a problem with sex in books, I just thought there was too much of it plugged in. That being said, I enjoyed the story. The ML was definitely interesting as were some of the secondary characters. There wasn’t anything wrong with the FL, she just didn’t hold my interest. The special abilities of the ML were unusual and didn’t fit into the standard paranormal types. I am glad I returned to finish it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something different.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and BookSirens and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

MEMPHIS AND THAYER

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Thayer is a senator’s daughter and is kidnapped from her dorm room and held hostage where no one can find her. Memphis is an ex-military turned veterinarian who has a special ability. He can project himself to a person if he has something that is dear to them. He is recruited by the senator and Thayer’s bodyguard, Knox. The connection between Thayer and Memphis is sweet and even though he is at least twelve years older than she, their connection grows. I like the way Memphis’s foster family is ‘family’ and has his back. This story is one for those who love paranormal stories as I do.

The astral projection ability of the hero, Memphis, is a cool concept, and there is an actual plot here about a senator's daughter being kidnapped; but I'm rarely a fan of instalove, and the sex scenes are heavy-handed and seem forced and out of character for how they happen. In the end, this is yet another romance where the plot serves merely as a framework for repeated sex scenes. It could have been better than that. I got a chuckle out of a comment in the acknowledgements about the editor, who polished the story "to near perfection," yet they just couldn't get past their confusion with lay and laid, one of my pet peeves. This one took a lonnnnnggggg time to get through. After the first few chapters, it got boring.

Avery Sampson can tell a story like no other. Her characters take on a life of their own and make you a part of the story. The FMC comes across as so strong and resourceful, so loving and caring you can not help but like her. The MMC is tenacious, loyal, supportive and loving. The MMC is very damaged from his past but strives to overcome it. There are many twists and turns along the way to find where danger is coming from and some surprises in store for the MMC. I highly recommend this book to all romance readers who like a touch of danger and the paranormal.

Great Premise, Execution Lacking

SPOILER ALERT: I liked the book for the special gifts with which Memphis and Knox were endowed. It gave a uniqueness to the story. However, the repeat kidnapping of Thayer, as well as Knox's inability to pinpoint the source, i.e., something he just could not see, became a little monotonous. In addition, the "withholding" between Memphis and Thayer seemed a bit farfetched. Lastly, Floyd had a plethora of young men at his disposable who could outrun the good guys and fade into oblivion. How he was able to recruit them and their loyalty to him was not explained.

I think this is the first Avery Samson I have read.Intangible is introducing the Inhuman Protector series. I throughly enjoyed this it is definitely an original story. A kidnapped senator's daughter brings Memphis out of hiding. His "special ability" that has him assigned to find Thayer Kent. The chemistry is electric between the two.
Thayer makes her feel safe and she finds comfort with him. He never thought it was possible to find someone due to his past. I really excited to read the next book in this series. I will now be following this writer.

This book! I have not enjoyed a book more in a very long time. The suspense started on page 1 and didn't let up until the end. The characters were vivid and real. The sexy times were spicy. Best of all, the romance did not in any way detract from the overall story. I've read many books that claim to be suspense or thrillers, but the romance just dominates the book to the detriment of the overall plot. Not the case here at all. This was actually a well developed, fully written story! Without a cliffhanger! I am thoroughly looking forward to the next one in the series!

I am a new reader to Avery Samson and wow! Love that Thayer is tough and doesn't give up hope no matter what is happening. Memphis is kind, sweet and a fierce protector. Knox is like a big brother to Thayer and will leave no stone unturned to find her. Intangible takes us on a suspenseful journey.

Love the little touch of paranormal in the series. Meeting Memphis' family is fun. I am excited to see where this series goes.

This is my first book by A. Samson and it will not be my last! Thank goodness that this is the first in a series because I want more and let me tell you I will be reading every book. What I loved about this book is that is was a different take on extraordinary abilities …the romance was a slow burn and hot. The plot was a constant edge of your seat ride that you can not put down, I loved this one! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A different read for me

I think the book took a little while to get going, but it was worth waiting for.

Thayer had been captured and being held for ransom and Memphis had been coerced into finding her by her father and her self proclaimed body guard Knox.

It was a bit odd how they met Memphis but it was a different gift that he had.

The story evolved and Memphis found out bits about his past ( not saying anymore as need to read it.)

This does have a Happy ending

Memphis Called

Memphis is awoken one night tied up and tased by people who want to use his gift to find the missing daughter of the senator. Thayer, having been kidnapped finds herself in cell hoping for someone to rescue her. This story was intense, and action packed. The twists and turns were a great addition to the plot that was surprising. It was an enticing read that I could not put down.

Samson takes her audience on an adventure that is a well-paced blend of thriller, action, supernatural and romance. The characters were well thought out with enough depth to leave you wanting to see more of them in future escapades.
