Mile High Romance #5

Thoroughly Innocent Intent

Rate this book
Personal and professional goals intersect in this workplace romance by author Michele Lenard.

The world sees a millionaire playboy, but she sees me. How can my total opposite read me better than I read defenses?

Colt – Life tackled me when I wasn’t looking. One minute I’m in the zone, preparing for what I hope will be another winning season, and the next I’m struggling to keep my focus on the game instead of the prim and proper beauty my agent hired to help me plan for life after football. Usually women flock to me, but this one I have to chase, and I can tell she won’t be easy to win. That doesn’t scare me. It terrifies me. I’ve disappointed every woman I’ve ever known by putting the game first, and now that I found something I want more than another ring, I’m not sure I’m man enough to win off the field.

Samantha – I’m no stranger to alpha males. In my line of work they come with the territory, and I’ve been around long enough to hold my own. That’s why the cocky football player with a reputation for scoring on and off the field is such a surprise. On the surface he’s the kind of guy who could ruin my credibility, but when he sets his focus on me, he lets me see the person behind the persona, and it’s someone I respect. Like even. I swore never to mix business with pleasure, but the perfectly imperfect ball player is hard to resist, which begs the question; is he worth breaking my one and only rule?

Totally Inevitable Intent is a stand alone book in the Mile High Romance Collection. It contains a lovably flawed alpha male and a virgin with a heart of gold. But don’t let the virgin label fool you, the sexy times are hot, and contain strong language. But also a guaranteed HEA.

ARC received for review

Colt has helped the last two couples out in their relationships and now it's their turn to return the favor. Samantha has lived a very sheltered and different life, but it willing to take a chance on him. Her bff is pretty funny and needs a book.

I totally flew through this book. It’s amazing! Colt is a sexy as hell football playboy who falls for Sam, a goody two shoes workaholic. Together, they bring out the best in each other and it is just so beautiful. This book is steamy, sweet, and will give you all the feels. If I could give this more stars, I would, and I’ll definitely be reading it again!

I really enjoyed this novel and have been really enjoying this series by Michele Lenard. This book takes a contemporary spin on the virgin trope with a slight sports aspect. Lenard really focuses this story on the romance and the building of the relationship between the hero and heroine so the fact that the hero is a football star takes more of a backseat to the story. I found this novel to have a nice pace, with a good build up of a relationship between two people to have an instant connection. I have been very interested in getting this hero's story after some of the previous novels and I found it to be a delightful and sweet story that felt charming and perfect for who the character is growing to be.

This is Colt and Samantha (Sam's) romance. Colt is a football player, with the reputation of a slight womanizer whose main focus and love seems to be football. Colt has a daughter with his ex-wife and in some of the past books in this series we have seen Colt's self realization of himself change and his understanding of what he needs to do to be a good father is growing. Colt is also getting older and the prospects of what he should do after football is becoming more of a reality. This is how he meets Sam, his agent has connected them because she is known for setting up successful charities. From the moment they meet they are both attracted to each other and feel a safety and understanding of the other that they have not experienced before.

I found this romance to really be an exploration of two people with a strong connection learning to take a risk with each other. Sam learns to risk and trust her heart to another, she has very limited experience with dating and the physical relationship between lovers, but she opens herself up to Colt and feels safe with him. Colt also learns to open himself up to a relationship with someone that he wants to prioritize and care for. Colt has slowly been growing and understand what he truly wants for himself and how he needs to prioritize the people in his life differently and I think this is what really helps him to embrace a relationship with Sam. I love that Colt wants to take things slow with Sam, he wants her to be comfortable, he wants her to feel control and consent and this really pays off in their physical relationship. Lenard does a lovely job crafting the sensual side of their relationship and the steam level is nicely spicy and hot. The third act conflict/beat in this story comes down to a misunderstanding and it felt a bit weak to me, I would have preferred discussion over a breakup in order to show a level of trust that the characters seemed to have developed with each other. But overall this conflict is quick and resolved swiftly with some lovely intervention with Colt's ex-wife and friend (and I really love that these two have been able to find a friendship with each other and that they want the other to be happy).

I would definitely recommend this series if you love a fun, sweet and sexy romance. This book and the others in this series are really fun and I love seeing glimpses of past characters through out!

Thank you to Michele Lenard for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a book in The Mile High Romance Series and it is Colt and Samantha's story and it is definitely a must read. The books in this series just gets better and better and I have to say that this book is my favourite so far. Colt is a football player and a bit of a womanizer but as he is a football player you need to stay focused so his agent hire's someone to help him decide what to do next and as he also has a daughter with his ex-wife he is also learning how to navigate being a great father to her so life is very busy at the moment with lots of changes in his future. Samantha takes.her job very seriously and she has been around player before so she knows just how fickle and how they always think that they can have anything or anyone that they want but as she has always been a professional and never crossed that line and doesn't intend to now as she knows how to deal with them and keep them at arm's length. When Colt and Samantha meet for the first time there is a instant attraction and strong chemistry between them and the more time that they spend together Samantha sees a different side to Colt and understand him but will she give in to this attraction and what would it do to her reputation which is important to her or will she steer clear of him and miss out on something special. This book was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put it down as the characters and storyline pulled you in and kept you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages wondering what would happen next and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Michele Lenard is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future.

I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

The couple: Colt and Samantha

Romance trope: sports
Series: Mile High Romance
Length: 300 pages

Plot: Colt is a football player who is thinking about his future. His agent suggests that he might consider creating a charity to boost his image, so he meets with a consultant, Samantha. She's wary of Colt; he doesn't seem to have any ambition beyond playing football. But they were drawn to each other and begin a tentative relationship. Colt didn't think he had any time for anything beyond football and Sam didn't think she was in his league, but somehow they are working out. Until they aren't.

Commentary: Pretty good story. Of course the 3-act breakup was silly, but they always are. Colt was a bit of an airhead, to be honest - the stereotypical dumb jock. But his heart was in the right place (eventually - it was kinda gross to hear his thoughts about cheating on his ex-wife), so that made him a little better.

Previous book in the series: Willfully Malicious Intent
Next book in the series: Strictly Forbidden Intent

A big thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I believe that this is my first book by this author. This is a stand alone book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Colt and Samantha have lots of chemistry. Colt actually seems naive to me. He just didn't seem to get the whole picture. This was a fun, fast read. Give it a try. 4 stars from me.

I received a complimentary copy of Thoroughly Innocent Intent in exchange for an honest review, This was a part of a series but could be read as a standalone. This was my favorite of the three books in the series. Normally I don't care for professional athlete romances, but this had a small town flare to it which worked. I'd recommend this novel to friends and family.

Over all good book but was kinda bummed out that a chapter was missing and I got lost on the epilogue.... But it does somewhat lay out the way for the next book in the series...
