The Horsemen have been summoned once more.

As the first Horseman, Conquest is tasked with bringing chaos to the Earthly Dimension and paving the way for his brethren, War, Famine and Death. It’s been a long time since the rider of the white horse has been on Earth and he looks forward to bringing the mortals to their knees, one murder at a time.

Raziel is a broken Angel, unable to wield the power associated with Divine Beings. Shunned by all in the Heavens as far back as his memory goes, he is shocked when he is given a task well beyond his abilities.

As Conquest and Raziel find themselves in the middle of a war between the Heavens and Hell that neither understands, Conquest realises that Raziel may hold the key to all of it and if he doesn’t keep his Angel close, more than just his heart is at stake.

After millennia of war, will an Angel that even the Heavens cast aside be Conquest’s undoing?

Content warnings: Religious themes, extreme violence, gore and others. Please see full list at the front of the book. There is also a dog-sized spider named Paul who just wants to be loved.

This is an approximately 80,000-word romance that contains a HFN filled with snark and morally questionable characters.

3/5 ⭐ Difinitely, conquested!

Conquest is a good start to go into this series. I would not say that it's a brilliant start, but Sienna Moreau has planted the seed and now it has to grow up 🌱 Hence, my three solid stars 🌟

I was attracted by ❝The Four Horsemen❞ concept, I can't deny it's pretty interesting and if you add it all the gay vibes 🏳️‍🌈 you got me in ♥

Conquest is the first instalment in a series featuring by ❝The Four Horsemen❞ and this one has the first of them as a main character: Conquest, also called Con by his brethren and Raziel, his angelical love interest 👼🏻. Con has to bring chaos into the Earthly Dimension in order to pave the way for his brethren and bring the balance between forces of good and evil. But, this time they have been summoned by someone else who is not related with their usual summoners: God and Diablo; so they are pretty confused about their task. On the other hand, Raziel is a cute angel without memories of his past life as mortal. Heaven society judges him as a pariah because he can't realise his wings or create any kind of ethereal energy, let alone fly 💔 God has given to him the task of stalking the first Horseman, Conquest ♥ in order to figure out the Horsemen's plans which will break out the Apocalypse 😈

Positives:
✔️ World building's magnificence 🌺 🌹 This is, plainly and simply, marvellous. There are plenty divine creatures prowling around the Earthly Dimension, just like angels and demonds in their respective ❛homes❜: Heaven and Hell. Plus, ❝The Four Horsemen❞ have their own ❛house❜ in a parallel World and all of them—angels, demons and the Horsemens—can cross the borders through a magical fog  🌫️ ♥ So nice to read and it would great to explore it in the future because I'm tempted to know more about Horsemen's lifestyle leaving aside the Apocalypse's tasks 👻

✔️Interesting plot 🧐 It starts slowly but when it speeds up the story is unstoppable. Firstly, the author wastes so much time trying to develop the relationship between the main characters 🤯 so I understand it, but the second half of the novel and the final battle are wonderful and leave us plenty questions ❔   that will be solved in the following instalments: What happened with Uriel and War? Is Death healthy? And what the heck with my favorite lovebirds, Famine and Diablo? 🤭 Where are you Abaddon?

Negatives:
Raziel's development is not pretty consistent. He seems to be dealing with split personalities  🤡 Firstly, he is an  ordinary angel —maybe a little bit naïve due to his forced lonely in Heaven—, then he changes into a absolute baby  who is only interested in eating more and more treats 🍧  until the border of having to deal with a sugar overdose 🤒, but in the latters chapter he is a  total badass  who can knock down archangels without previous training 🤔  I liked him at first, but while I was reading his drastic chages I deflated little by little and I never could connect with him.

Romance against the clock ⏰ It is said that from love to hate there is a step, and vice versa. But not for me between these two characters. I was totally invested in their relationship, I wanted to it were perfect, but it failed when Con moved from being a torturer beast to a total saint. He was sainter than Uriel and the entire God's congregation, haha 😅 Seriously, there were two pages, more or less, between this change, plus it was unexpected and suddenly. Hence, unbelievable 🤡 Maybe this was the reason that made their sexual encounters lacked of ❛feelings❜. That's my opinion, not the absolute truth. I am sure that there are a lof of readers that loved their dynamic, but it did not work for me to enjoy it plenty. Sadly.

Despite of that, I've gotten all the good things that this book has given me ♥ I am enough interested in the plot and there are a lot of fascinating characters as Famine and Diablo 🖤  What a couple! They have two scenes together and still steal the show, as well as Paul, their cute baby spider 🕷️ 🕸️

This summoning was nothing like any of their others.
- From “Famine”, book 3

edit: bumping up my rating to five stars because this whole series has been a total blast. Highly recommended.

4.25**** stars

First, let me say, this series so far gave me total Sons of the Fallen vibes and I loved it. So if you loved that series, you will probably like this one too. But don’t worry, this one’s still different on many levels.

No other Angels were broken like him. There were no documented cases of an Angel without wings, without a Gift. He was the first. The first failure.

I admit I was a bit of fast reading in the second third there because, hell, the mystery about Raziel drove me nuts!! I just wanted to knooooowwww! I mean, why is there an Angel in Heaven with no wings and no gift whatsoever? And why are they still keeping him there? He even had God’s touch, which is super rare. And why the heck was Lucifer suddenly so desperate to get him when he learned of Raziel’s existence?

I loved Raziel and I’m super intrigued by all the other introduced characters, I loved the Horsemen’s mares, especially Victory (or Vicky as Raziel was calling her) and I even developed a slight (very slight) fondness of Paul, the six-legged, dog-sized spider. *shudder *lol

And man, it was brutal. Like brutally brutal, bloody and gory. All parties (Demons, Angels and the Horsemen) are truly nasty with each other. ⇢ Which is super interesting because of the pairings for the next books considering how they all treat each other. I don’t even know if you can call all of these redemptions arcs in the end. *lmao

[Conquest] defended himself against Uriel’s attack, but his heart wasn’t in it. A part of him wanted the Sword of Light to pierce him, to strike him down. If he resurrected, he would be free of this anguish [of losing Raziel], free of the wound deep inside him. And if he didn’t, he would be free of it all the same.

🫠💀

It was a ride and the author’s fantastic debut three years ago. Compelling writing and a gripping plot. Totally recommended.

side note: each book follows a different, intriguing couple but they all have an overarching storyline so they have to be read in order.

There's a giant spider in this book named Paul, and I low-key want to kidnap him… No, I am not okay but thank you for asking.

✅ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 ... in this book was pleasantly surprising. You could really tell that debut author Sienna Moreau actually took the time to shape this world of Angels, Demons, and Gods. There is a lot of world to discover and I hope the next book in the series further explores the mythology set up in this book.

❌ 𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗘𝗟 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 … my favorite character. He kinda had the personality of cardboard, but like… The cutest cardboard you can think of. I just think there could have been a lot more to his character but, then again idk… I guess there was just something missing. I couldn't connect with him, and honestly… All he seemed to do for most of the book was cry and hide in the corner.

🆗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗬 … badass and ruthless, which you guys know I love to see. AND he definitely had more of a personality than Raziel, which was nice. That being said, I don't know… I also had trouble connecting to him as well. I especially didn't understand why he was suddenly developing feelings for Raziel. I mean come on they barely even talked and all he did was torture him for the first half of the book.

❌ 𝗦𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 … really did not work for me. And I think the main reason for that is the lack of connection. I didn't connect much with Conquest, and I certainly did not connect with Raziel. Therefore, I couldn't feel much of a connection for RazielConquest. When they started hooking up I felt so indifferent and apathetic. Which, look. I think this is very much a me thing because all the ingredients are there. I mean, Conquest is an agent of chaos and destruction. Raziel is a freaking ARCHANGEL!! Like… if you guys read my review for the Primal Sin series, you already know. But alas, I was left feeling very meh about these two.

✅ 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗗, 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 … believe I am going to read next book. The ending was left me hella intrigued on a few fronts. First, what is up with Famine and Diablo? Are they a thing, or does Famine just wish they were?? Second, is War gonna romance the hell out of a certain angel?? Cause if that's the case then I am SO here for it. Third, what's Death's deal? Whose he gonna end up with?? Also, Paul. I need more of the cutest spider in the world. I just… I need that in my life right now.

Overall Conquest was a nice time. I wasn't over or underwhelmed, I was just whelmed. And I mean… did I skim this book? Just a touch. HOWEVER, I JUST WANT TO SAY - the ending had my rapt and undivided attention. Sienna Moreau set up the second book nicely, and I am beyond excited to see what this series has in store.

Full review to come

A book about one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse and an archangel sounds like something I would have dreamed for for years if I thought of the idea before, I just love this concept, so much. I loved the pairing of Conquest, the brutal and merciless character and Raziel, the pure and sweet character, it really worked for me. Also this had a lot of gore, just enough to make me a very happy reader. Also shootout to Paul, a giant dog sized spider that served as the four horsemen’s pet, he’s probably my favorite side character of all time.

The only reason why this is not a 5 stars for me is that the ending felt a little rushed to me, I just wish that part of the book was a little more drawn out, but I loved the rest of the book and I had such a good time reading this book, I really enjoyed the experience.

I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.

Promising start to a series about angels, demons and the Four Riders of the Apocalypse

I went in after seeing Kati rave about it, expecting something like Sons of the Fallen. And it is in a way, but it’s a way more complex world you’re thrown in when starting to read. That’s why I struggled a bit with the first half - there are a lot of things that didn’t quite make sense, and I found it hard to like Conquest, the first of the riders whose story we’re getting here. Raziel, the Angel with next to none powers, was impossible to NOT like immediately.

There are so many parties involved, and so unlike any other Angel/demon universe I’ve ever read about, that I found it difficult to make sense of everything at the beginning. There’s also a lot of gore and casual cruelty involved, which didn’t bother me tbh, seeing as the parties involved were almost exclusively immortals who healed pretty quickly.

But after a while, it all came together. There are still some parts that I find illogical, but nothing that kept me from immersing myself in it.

What I don’t understand is why the author didn’t give the Four Horsemen “real” names instead of Conquest, War, Famine and Death - it would have made it easier for me to fully root for them.

3.5 stars rounded up because of the epic showdown towards the end - and now onwards to reading War and Uriel’s book (and I’m REALLY curious to see if the author manages to endear the Archangel to me after the shit he pulled in this book)

It did take me quite a while to get into this, mostly because I don't really know much about the horsemen of the apocalypse! They may have covered it at Sunday school but my dad was told politely to remove me because I was inciting other kids to question the validity of the Bible 😂 Yes I'm an atheist! Don't feel bad for my dad though, he only sent us so he could watch football in peace 😂😂

I did get to a point eventually though where I decided that Raziel was adorable and needed to be protected at all costs. I even cried a few times, like full on tears that I was not at all expecting!

Paul, the dog sized spider, did kinda scare the shit out of me though. I can't even cope with UK size house spiders....🤮🤮 I would most definitely die on the spot! It made me itchy just thinking about it.

I am a little sceptical about how much I'll like book two because I know it's going to be about Uriel, and that dude was such a massive cunt I don't see how he's redeemable. I genuinely don't want to like him at all, so that will be interesting to read I guess!

This book surprised me so much! I loved it! I was going to rate it 4 stars, but while I was writing my review I remembered how much I enjoyed it... so 5 stars! 🥰

First, let me start with this: I will never, ever again pick up an unfinished series! (probably will do that again but yeah, let me at least try to lie to myself) Ughh, this is torture all over again. First with Sons of the Fallen by Jaclyn Osborn, now with The Four Horsemen. (Bestie, I'm blaming you for that!!!) And of course in the typical style of mine, from the Four Horsemen, I fell in love with the two whose books are still unreleased. Yaay me!!!! 😭😭😭

So, back to Conquest. Every book in this series follows the story of one of the Four Horsemen and it must be read in order. Conquest is the first book that follows the story of the first Horseman and a broken Angel named Raziel. But is he really broken!? Why is he this way? Is there more to all of it? How can an Angel and a Horseman ever be together!?

Even though there were things I didn't like, I enjoyed this book a lot as a whole. I loved the second part of it, after the 50% mark the story picked up and everything was way more interesting! There was a lot of violence, and killing and the story kept me on edge. What will happen, what is the truth? There were things I didn't see coming at all and my jaw dropped at one scene. I was like no way, I didn't just read this!

🖤🖤🖤 The book is full of anti-heroes, possessiveness, and fierce protectiveness. Don't expect good guys here (well maybe only Raziel), this whole book is full of bad guys, and isn't this all we need sometimes!? 🖤🖤🖤

Also, I must mention Paul!!! I would've never imagined I would want a pet like Paul. Oh, did I mention who Paul is? He is a large dog-sized spider with eight eyes and six legs. Yep, I want him! Yes, I would still be afraid of him! Don't ask me more about this. 🤣🤣🤣

Let's talk about Conquest now: I loved him so much!!! Like ughhh can't describe it! He wasn't a hero, he wasn't the good guy also. After all, he is one of the Four Horsemen, he is tasked with bringing chaos to the Earthly Dimension. But I was amazed at how his character was portrayed and how much I fell in love. And the relationship between him and Raziel? Yep, they won me. I also laughed so much at some parts!!! Loved these two together!!! Let me share one part that made me laugh:

"What's Harry potter? It says there's a place called Warner Bros. Studio and we can take a tour."
"Absolutely not." Conquest would rather put an apple in his mouth and spread himself out over Diablo's banquet table.
"But-"

And a little bit more quotes to get a feeling of who Conquest is:

Fear meant losing control and losing control meant that what little power it had was essentially useless.

"You're mine."

Conquest was the most confounding Being he's ever met; the blend of fear and comfort, of pain and intense pleasure, was confusing to say the least.

Let me introduce you to the first meeting between Paul and Raziel:
The spider moved toward him and Raziel screamed again. He bolted around Conquest to put him between them. Raziel didn't care how horrific Conquest was, there was no way he could be worse than that thing.

What I would like to mention: in the TWs is mentioned dub-con. I have read only one book with dub-con and yeah I didn't like it at all. So, I was worried about reading Conquest. But umm I didn't read something in this book that can be described as dub-con. At least for me, there wasn't. If one of my friends has read Conquest and there was something that can be classified as dub-con please let me know in the comments. I was really surprised because I prepared myself for it... and it never came. Not that I'm complaining! 😅

What could have become my reason for lowering my rating if not for all the things I loved:
This is a debut novel and as such, it blew my mind. Honestly, the first part of this book from Raziel's point of view was slow and a little bit boring. But the more I read the better it became. It wasn't perfect, there were things I didn't like. For example the jump from one scene to another. It was hard to follow sometimes what was happening with these sudden changes. I wished there were more intimate scenes between Conquest and Raziel and that ending? It was too sudden and it left me wanting and needing more. Luckily, the second book is out!

🖤🖤🖤 If you enjoy books with morally gray characters/anti-heroes, Angels, Demons, the Four Horsemen, fights between evil and good (which in this book is more like evil vs evil), violence, possessiveness, and interesting plotline, then give this book a chance and come back to me to scream together about Famine and Death. And of course Conquest and Raziel. 🖤🖤🖤

"Don't let being afraid stop you from trying," he hissed. "Fear can break you, if you allow it to. Don't think about what you haven't done, don't think about what they tell you that you can't do. What they think about you doesn't matter; ....... Strip away all that bullshit; don't let it define you."

“Hand him over to who exactly?” Conquest said mildly, already knowing he wouldn’t be handing Raziel over to anyone. He belonged to Conquest until Conquest said otherwise. Anyone who wanted to test that would die, painfully.

I’d been seeing this all over my TL before I decided to give it a try and although I generally enjoyed the story, several things fell flat for me. Let’s get what I liked out of the way because I have words.

WHAT I LIKED
- The premise. As I said, a few mutuals had read and liked this book but the reason I ultimately picked it up was the premise. I’ve been on a paranormal kick for the past few weeks and what better way to scratch that itch than with a bit of “the end is nigh?”

Well, it turns out the end couldn’t have come quick enough😬

WHAT I DISLIKED
- Details? What details??
🗡️ What’s this book about? Well, I’m glad you asked. The world’s gone to shit and the Horsemen have been called to usher in an apocalypse.
🗡️ Okay, how are they going to do that? Well, it’s simple really, they… They just need to cause chaos and get humans to turn on each other.
🗡️ How do they do that? They uh… They do a bunch of shit, okay? Look, it’s a really complex plan and it’s fucking bulletproof so you don’t really need to know all the details.
🗡️ ...

- Not enough chemistry between Conquest and Raziel. I wasn’t buying the whole “I own you” shit. One minute Conquest’s plan was to seduce the truth out of Raziel and the next thing we know he’s formed such a strong bond with Raziel that he’s willing to (literally) fight heaven and hell for him? Where was the build up?? Where was the back and forth??? And why the hell didn’t the author address the fact that Conquest’s relationship with Raziel started out as a means to an end? I can understand Raziel brushing this under the rug given how neglected he’s been all his life but this wasn’t a depiction of the traumatic effect of neglect. This was the author either choosing not to address the subject or forgetting to.

- Grumpy x sunshine. It’s not my favourite trope but I can live with it. What I couldn’t live with was how it seemed almost a caricature in this. Conquest possesses the level of stoicism you’d expect in a horseman. Fine. Whatever. Raziel on the other hand was so happy-go-lucky it almost seemed childish and not in a good way. He’s innocent and naive, we get it. I don’t think there was any need to overemphasise that aspect of his character.

- Inconsistent tone. I came for the dark romance and complex themes but Conquest was too easily swayed for my liking. He came to earth with a clear plan of causing chaos and paving the way for War. But all it took was a little pleading from Raziel with a side of puppy dog eyes to change his mind?? Look, I wasn’t rooting for him to kill innocents but his purpose is the apocalypse. Can’t we at least see him struggle with his growing attraction for Raziel and what it means for him as a harbinger of the apocalypse?? That would have made for such a good plot line.

WHAT I’M 50/50 ABOUT
- The cover. Definitely not how I imagined Conquest and I’m not sure the description matches (?) It wasn’t a deal breaker but it kept niggling at me.

I’d love to say this is the end of the road for me with this series but Sienna Moreau clearly knows how to write a synopsis because book 2 is looking like a fucking snack (enemies to lovers and angel x demon?? kill me nowww). Anyway, one thing’s for sure, I’ll definitely have to work myself up to the rest of the books.

The more I think about this book, the less I like it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there’s something wrong with it, but it just didn’t work for me.

The writing is not good or bad, it’s just okay. I can recognize the effort the author made in trying to create an interesting story. The plot had potential, even if it felt a bit convoluted at times.

What didn’t work for me was mainly the fact that it seemed as if the story tried too hard to be something it wasn’t. Some interactions or inner monologues felt anything but organic. Conquest is set up to be this super tough and powerful guy. We are repeatedly told how much he is just “using the Angel” or how much he wants to “break it and return to the heavens as a shell”, like, yes, he is mean, he is bad, this is a sort of dark romance, and he is morally gray. We get it.

Raziel, for his part, was okay, if a bit childish. The whole mystery of who he was went on for so long that by the time it was revealed how he came to be and his origin, it all felt a bit anticlimactic. And if I’m honest, I really didn’t get it. The explanation that was offered was so random that I tried rereading it and just ended up with the same questions.

The ending was rather abrupt and didn’t resolve much; it’s just an ongoing plot, it seems. I had thought that I was going to continue the series, but who am I kidding? I would just hate-read it at this point.

Also, these guys had literal demons from hell at the gates, and yet they still found time to smash and dirty-talk. I like smut, but come on, it wasn't the time or place. Some sex scenes just felt like they were there without reason.

Dammit😭. I was this close to giving this five stars but alas. I really loved it, until they blew up that certain building and then it went to shit.

Con and Raziel were perfect and just my favorite type of couple. The grumpy teddy bear and the boy filled with sunshine. It was so adorable how Con refused everytime Raziel asked for something but ended up getting it for him anyway. Especially the unnatural amount of food.

And the spontaneous public sex didn't hurt either😉. Apparently the innocent angel was a closet exhibitionist.

While this one was right up my alley I'm really not looking forward to War and Uriel. I hated Uriel. I'd even go so far as to say he seemed more like the villain than anyone else in the book.

Wow. This book had me hooked. I was so invested in not only the romantic relationship, but the overarching plot and the politics at play here. 5 stars for enjoyment and keeping me on the edge of my seat.

We have angels, demons, horsemen of the apocalypse and so much mystery. Half the time I had no idea what was going on and there are still questions that I’m sure will be answered in the rest of the brothers’ books.

Raziel is impossible not to immediately fall in love with. He is lost, confused, and just so darn sweet. He literally is like a Disney Princess. Animals love him, he just wants to eat allll the things all the time (vibes), and he eventually finds the strength within himself to become stronger.

Conquest, on the other hand, took me a bit longer to like. At first he just seemed flat. Yes he is an immortal who loves killing. But once he meets and takes Raziel hostage he can’t help but fall for this “baby Angel” as well. Watching him become possessive and touch-him-and-die was everything. There really is nothing quite like a gruff man who is soft for that one person only. Like he could not for the life of him say no to Raziel or deny him anything 💗 And their sexual chemistry was sooooo good 🔥

Fair warning - this book is bloody and gory. All of these immortals have spent all of time in battle with one another and don’t think twice to maiming each other, torture and bloodshed.

I am so intrigued to continue on in this series. I love all the brothers (War is so sarcastic and I love him). And their powers seem so cool?! Famine had my jaw dropping at one point and Death is so mysterious and quiet. How will Uriel and War overcome their antagonistic little dance? What the fuck is going on with Famine and Lucifer??!? I am throwing my TBR aside to binge this series now and I have to blame Kati for all of this 💗💗

“Don’t run yet, we’ve only just met.”
“Are you going to kill me?” Its voice was shaky and breathless. A sweeter sound had never been heard.
“Oh no, baby Angel, I’m not going to kill you.” When Conquest was done, the Angel would merely wish that he had.

Am I adding yet another series to my TBR? Well apparently yes and surprisingly for me, a dog-sized spider is one of the reasons why. When I saw someone recommending the second book I couldn’t help it, when it comes to enemies-to-lovers I'm like a moth to a flame. But since these books can't be read as standalones I obviously decided to give this one a try. I’m a messy reader but I do have my limits lol. I’m glad I did it, this was such a great start for this series. The snarky moments and the brutal battles had a perfect balance. Neither is to say that I already pick some characters with dubious morality that I can't wait to read more about.

description

Conquest and Raziel were incredibly hot and filthy together. I did expect some more darkness in their relationship but that was compensated with all the chemistry these two got after Conquest plans to play though were crushed by Raziel’s sweetness. Their interactions with the rest of the Horseman were so funny but my heart goes to Paul because in real life I’d just pass out if a spider that size was in the same room as me, but he managed to make every appearance in such an adorable way.

Last update I said I would end up finishing this book....... yeah that didn't happen. I'm pretty positive it's a case of "It's me, not the book". Just not my cup of tea.

Something about the whole Innocent virginal bundle of incompetence hopelessly seduced by hard-ass sexy TALL man with a big dick who's heart is always closed off-------aaaaaand they're falling for each other..... trope just bugs me. I couldn't take this serious anymore after all of that silliness.

The premise was cool. I liked the horseman theme with a bunch of asshole angels and worse demons, while God is just chillin' like "Yeah let them shake shit up". That interested me. The way our MC's developed.... not so much.

Sorry :(

4 I-needed-this-book-in-my-life stars⭐

This book (and series) was such a pleasant surprise. I'm a sucker when it comes to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and when I saw this book I knew I had to read it immediately. I am beyond happy that this turned out to be as good as I hoped it would be. Congratulations to Sienna Moreau for writing such a strong and amazing debut novel.

About The Book.
This book focuses on the Horseman Conquest and the Angel Raziel.
The Four Horsemen have been summoned to Earth, not knowing who summoned them. While trying to figure it out they also focus on the task ahead, meaning Conquest has to do his part in order to pave the way for his brother, War. The Heavens deny it was them who called them and decide to send Raziel to spy on Conquest. Raziel is instantly discovered by Conquest, when he lands on Earth. Let's just say that he, Raziel, isn't exactly how Angels are supposed to be. Conquest then decides to use Raziel as leverage against Heaven and the story goes from there.

This book was good. Super, super good. The plot, the characters, the pacing, the world-building, the writing, everything was great and I can't believe this was a debut novel. Sienna Moreau weaved a wonderful and dark story, with elements of humor and light moments in a masterful way. Keep in mind that this book is dark and you need to check the TW. For me it was just what I needed and I didn't have an issue with any of the themes.

The Characters.
Raziel.
He is a bundle of sunshine and joy and sweetness and everything that is good in this world. He's a pure cinnamon roll. My heart aches for him and sympathised with him from the moment I read his first chapter.

I said before that Raziel isn't your typical Angel. For that reason he is ridiculed and ostracized by the other Angels. You see, he hasn't grown his wings yet and hasn't developed a Gift/ability.

When he is sent to Earth, he is overwhelmed by everything and fascinated at the same time. I loved reading about him discovering new things and developing an almost unhealthy obsession with food. I also loved the fact that by the end of the book he came into his power, but still remained good and true to himself. He went through so much and he came out stronger.

Conquest.
He is a big, bad, scary alpha-hole, just my type when it comes to men in books. In the beginning he comes of as cruel and mean, but as the book progresses we see a softer side of him, reserved only for his Angel. I liked how he was always honest with Raziel about his reasons for keeping him...well, captive. He is deliciously dark and I enjoyed being in his head.

The other Horsemen.
We just see glimpses of them, when they visit Con at his mansion, but each and every one of them is intriguing. I already know about War, since I read his book before writing this review, but Famine and Death are still a mystery. Well, mostly Death actually. Their interactions with the main MCs provided the comic relief needed in an otherwise dark and gory book. I can't wait to read more about them.

Uriel.
As I said, I've already read the second book, I won't say anything about Uriel. Just know that I hated him in this one.

Honorable Mentions : Paul, the dog-sized pet spider who is actually really cute and just wants to be loved, and Victory, Con's horse, who had an appetite as big as Raziel's even though she doesn't need to eat. They stole the show.

The Romance.
Raziel and Conquest started started on a bit of rocky ground, to put it mildly, but they ended up being so heartwarming together. Conquest wanted to use Raziel and he did hurt him, but after some time, once he got to know the Angel, he couldn't help but be pulled in by the innocence, purity, sweetness and just everything that Raziel is. They had swetnand dark moments, humorous and emotional moments and they really balanced each other out. By the end of the book, their love for one another and the lengths they would go to keep each other safe were evident.

Conclusion.
I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes dark, PNR romance, with Angels, Demons, good vs evil (evil vs evil), morally gray characters, a giant pet spider, sassy horses, battles, a little bit of gore and, of course, steam.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how abruptly it ended. I feel like I needed a little more, but otherwise this was a solid read for me and I'm looking forward to reading more from Sienna Moreau in the future.

3/5 ⭐

He aquí el problema.

No sé si me explico.

God yessss. Or should I say Horseman yessss.

What a dark, dirty, morally grey ride that was.

Conquest was hot as fuck and Raziel was adorable. Side characters were awesome - Paul the giant spider and Victory the horse were absolute treasures. The action in the second half was fantastic, but honestly I enjoyed the slower, quieter first half just as much. I do wish we’d had more intimate scenes with Conquest and Raziel but I guess I’m being greedy. I was craving these books so badly and forced myself to wait until all four were out. I’ve had a weird thing for the Four Horsemen ever since I read Larissa Ione’s hetero version many years ago.

I enjoyed this so much. I can’t believe this is a debut novel. This is how I like my Christian mythology - in a dark romance with hot as fuck sex - not in real life and in our governments.

Very well done for a first outing.

I began reading this series because I'm a Horsemen legend fan and I'm really glad I did. Conquest is the first book in the series. It is certainly a different take on the characters of the horsemen in good way. They are shown as balance keepers and having a mind of their own. They consider each other brothers and would do anything for one another.
From Raziel's point of view we see how flawed Archangels as well as god can be. Again it's a very interesting take on an old story. The world this Author has built is vast.
I did find that in a few spots where the Author was building the the world her characters were in it seemed to interrupt the flow of the story a little, slow it down some. Nothing drastic, just enough to notice.
Also the intial romantic Connection with Conquest and Raziel seemed a bit abrupt. It plays out a little strange to me timing wise and threw me off a bit.
Over all: Worth the read and I look forward to the next book. I'm hooked and I'm looking forward do seeing where the story goes.

DNF @ 51%

4 stars for some interesting world building. However I couldn't really get invested in the characters. Conquest is fairly well fleshed out however I couldn't warm up to his character and personality but that's just because of my personal taste.

My biggest problem was the characterisation of Raziel. I was rooting so hard for him in the beginning and thought we would get a really multifaceted character and see how he grows, however around the 30% mark he just turned into someone very childish? It was just very odd to see him develop into a one dimensional character following after conquest like a child. Maybe it gets better further in the book but i couldn't stomach the relationship between the MCs at that point.

I loved the world building, the mythological creatures and their relationships. However, there was hardly any transition at all for the MC‘s relationship to develop. It was suddenly just there? That was kinda weird. But I am game for the progression of the overall story. Give me a war between Heaven and Hell anytime… I will jump right into book 2.

Really cool!! Solid 5 ⭐️, part of the 2025 faves!

Ps: really epic throughout the whole book I thought we would get a different couple in the next instalment 👀 but then the last 2% we got a DEVELOPMENT and I can’t wait to see what’s up with that…. Or should I say those 👀

Great start to the series! Raziel was fun to read about. He was filled with so much goodness and joy. The storyline was intriguing. It reached a lull about halfway through when the two MCs started having sex all the time. But it picked back up after several sex scenes. I hope the next book is just as good as this one was.

4.25 Stars

I very much enjoyed this one.

I started it off and within the first 2 chapters was thinking, "I don't think this series is for me, I'll finish this one and leave it at that", I wasn't sure about the writing style and the characters just weren't connecting for me, but then amazingly within a couple of pages was well and truly hooked. If I hadn't had to work yesterday I would have finished it in one sitting.

I liked this authors take on the angels and demons. The angels were definitely depicted differently than I have previously read and to be honest they were really unlikeable at times. The demons were as expected but also had a little more depth to them. I liked that the horsemen while being the bringers of destruction were neutral, they worked for whoever called them (and I will be interested to see where this leads) but are more interested in their own family than others. The banter between all of the different characters was fun. Paul the spider and Con's horse Victory were highlights throughout.

I loved Raziel. He was what an angel should have been. I felt for him at the start when he believed no one wanted him. His joy about learning new things was a lovely buffer to the destruction everyone else wrought.

Conquest was harder to like at the start as he as brutal but watching him fall under Raziel's spell was great to see. He paid for it, and I want to see where that leads as well. I loved the baiting he did to Uriel. I liked the bond between the brothers and how each has their own part to play, they can help the others but once their part is complete they can leave the dimension and return home.

The story ends open ended, so I am waiting impatiently for the next one. I can't wait to see where the series leads, we know who War is being matched with, I'm pretty sure I know who Famine will be matched with and I have some ideas about Death and his partner, I'll interested to see if I'm right.

This is Sienna Moreau's debut and was I pleasantly surprised? NO! I was FREAKING BLOWN AWAY!! Great writing, world-building, character and relationship development and of course 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (º ﹃ º )(º ﹃ º )(º ﹃ º ) sex scenes!

There are trigger warnings about dub-con and was excited for that (yes I'm a filthy bitch) but nothing that happened between Conquest and Raziel was ever dub-con. Conquest wooed Raziel, with not so good intentions at first since he wanted to use, abuse and corrupt Raziel and then send him back to the Heavens, with soft touches and intimacy but Raziel was touch starved and innocent and everything Conquest didn't know he craved.

Their start was rocky (at best!) but Conquest even at his most cruelest was always honest with Raziel about what he would do to him and why. Raziel, when things started to change between them, never romanticized the abuse and torture he suffered in the beginning in the hands of Conquest. He was aware about the hows and whys and that at that point they were at opposite sides.

And kudos to Sienna for making be so HAWT and drool worthy when it so rarely, rarely work for me!!

Can't wait for the War's story! And March is sooooo far, far away!

Solid & enjoyable start… although things begin to unravel and delve into sappy nonsense at about 70%… final 30% reads as contrived and underwhelming with a rushed interwoven plot line for cast of secondary characters setting up for future installments… then only to abruptly end on a cliffhanger.
3.5 stars for the first 70%
2 stars for the last 30%

If there is something I love, it's chaotic characters. And the four horsemen are just that, they aren't evil, they simply do what they have been put in to the world to do.
This first book focuses on the first stage where Conquest is front and centre in bringing about the end of the world and I'm liking his badass self.

He had character and depth and I liked the world we start seeing built around the characters. I like how he refers to new demons and angels as babies, because he's so much older than most creatures.
I like our baby angel, how everything is new to him and how his personality is the complete opposite of Conquest.
Raziel is silly and it's enhanced by Conquests grumpiness, who does what his angel wants, he just needs to grumble about it first.

I look forward to continue this series with the other horsemen.

This was so good. Its unbelievable this series is not more famous. I felt I was in a slump because nothing was looking good to me. I am so glad I started this.

It was gripping and thrilling and all the good things. The twists and turns were at perfect pace and the character development was 🤌. Both the MCs were perfect together and the way Raziel had Conquest wrapped around his fingers was hilarious and the most adorable thing I have ever read. It got a bit weird in between when Raz's innocence looked more like childlike behaviour to me. But overall that got over soon.

The way other characters were introduced to give a hint of the next books to come was also very intriguing. I can't wait to complete the series. And know am gonna recommend it to everyone I know for the next few months.
