After the thrilling events of Infinite Frontier, Nubia becomes queen of Themyscira, but the new title also brings challenges. With the unexpected arrival of new Amazons, our hero is forced to reckon with her past and forge a new path forward for her sisters. Little does she know, a great evil grows beneath the island and it’s up to this former guardian of Doom’s Doorway to unite her tribe before paradise is lost forever! This unforgettable miniseries from writers Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams, along with all-star artist Alitha Martinez (Future State) brings the fan-favorite character back to the DCU for good. After Nubia, the world of the Amazons will never be the same!
I really loved the look of the Amazons in this, along with the juxtaposition of Nubia entering Themyscira with the new ones. The art is beautiful and expressive and I look forward to the next issue.
This is a great, engrossing first issue to the mini-series, and it really encapsulates everything I love about WW books, blending mythology and a rich history of the Amazons with compelling storytelling.
As new Amazons join the ranks for the first time in centuries, the reader also gets introduced to Themyscira. I really loved the introductory rites and the richly illustrated pages detailing daily life on the island. The naming rite was especially powerful — echoing Nubia’s sentiment that her first piece of armor was her chosen name.
Alitha Martinez’s art is stunning — this really gets showcased in the foreboding dream sequence that closes out the issue.
This was a fantastic start to a series. I really enjoyed this issue, Although I felt that this issue could have done a bit more on the world building but over the story was was pretty good. the art style was the standard comic art that compliments the story very well. I did feel that inclusion of bia in the story was very intriguing considering she was implied to be trans and I hope that she will play a bigger role in the story.
Absolutely awesome book that makes me want to read more Wonder Woman. The art is absolutely gorgeous and the story, while simplistic, works really well to introduce us to the world of the Amazons. If you're looking for a comic with a badass female lead and a good story, for sure check this out!
The only bad thing I have to say about it, is there is a rather confusing time jump towards the end, but I have a feeling that will be covered in other Wonder Woman/Amazon centered books. It doesn't detract from the rest of the book though, and would still recommend.
The art is absolutely gorgeous. It tackles a hard story for Themyscria -- what to do about Medusa, cursed by Athena for the sin of being raped by Poseidon? The evil done to her by gods is a lasting injustice that warrants the fall of Olympus. The Amazons have guarded the gates of her prison for millennia. Medusa's head is kept as a trophy by Hippolyta. Athena walks through this story unchallenged.
really like the concept of the well of souls, beautiful meaning there. and i suspect with diana's arrival, hippolyta felt her time was at an end.....her death in the trial of the amazons was something i did not see coming 😔. nubia the destined queen, and with the coronation special emphasizing even more with her former life--it's literally all she's ever been, a leader.

I was assuming I'd get more of an explanation of Nubia's background and ascent, so I feel a little bit thrown into the deep end. But being thrown into the deep end for a pleasant story/setup on Themyscira isn't so bad!
Good establishing issue. Tells you everything you need to know, introduces the characters and their motivations and ends it off by giving people some stakes. Even if I can tell this was part of a storyline I haven't read, the author doesn't make me for a second question what or why it is happening.
