I thought she was my enemy. Then someone tried to take her. Now we're faking a relationship to keep her safe.
I solve problems before they even occur. Protecting people is what I do, and I do it exceptionally well.
But someone in my town is laundering money. And I'm convinced she's working for him.
Then one evening I save her from kidnappers--who were hired by the same person I'm trying to stop. She's no longer a suspect, but she's somehow still involved.
To keep her safe, I'll become her bodyguard. That means going undercover.
Because in our small town, everyone knows everyone's business. And her family doesn't mix with mine. If we're suddenly seen together, people will know something's up. More importantly, my enemy will know I'm on to him.
So how do we avoid suspicion? Fake a relationship. No one will suspect anything but that we're crazy for each other.
Once I put away the person threatening her, we'll go our separate ways. Not even my brothers will know I only pretended to be her boyfriend.
I'll bag a criminal I've been trying to put away for months. She'll go back to her life with no one the wiser.
Only we will ever know our attraction was fake. The only problem?
I'm not so sure I'm pretending.
Rogue is a full-length, 97,000 word steamy, Southern small town, fake relationship romance. It's part of a series about a bunch of hot brothers and features a sexy fixer with a protective streak. While you can read the series in any order, you will get the most out of The King Cousins if you start with book one (Lush). There is no cheating and it has a HEA. NOTE: This story includes some violence that may not be suitable for all readers.
I love the King Brothers and there cousins. These books are smoking hot and super intense. Noah and Lucia are my favorites so far. Small town romance, fake relationship and all out fun.
The King brothers quickly found their way into my heart and Noah was no different!
He has always been such a mystery to us. From the little glimpses we get from him in his brothers' books had me so intrigued. I just knew I was going to love him but I had no idea how much. And oh boy do I adore him! And his story with the amazing sassy Lucia, who I also adore, is one of the most wonderful ones out there.
The fake relationship trope is one of my favorites and it's done exceptionally in Rogue. The way the pretending in order to keep her safe turned into this deep connection and falling for each other so hard was beautiful. Noah and Lucia are seriously pure gold! I absolutely adored the tension between them and then that FLIRTING.
The intensity of this book had me on the edge of my seat and I loved that. But what drew me in completely keeping me utterly hooked was the emotions and the vulnerability between Noah and Lucia; they way both understand each other on another level. And the way he would do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant putting himself in the crossfire. Their chemistry is also truly so amazing! And I could feel it all so vividly!
Noah and Lucia are my favorite couple so far and wow I never wanted the book to end!
"Lucia suddenly smiles, and my heart. My damn heart squeezes so painfully I know she's torn a part of it away and locked that tiny piece forever up inside her. One I'll never try to regain."
*I received this book from the author but the thoughts are completely my own.*
Good lord! the word y'all is so much in this book and it is used wrong! I only made it to chapter 5! Y'all is used every time someone says you! Y'all is short for you all! Not you! Having to substitute you for Y'all every other sentence got annoying and I could not get into the book!
4.5 STARS The man who never expected love finds it in the most unlikely place. Noah and Lucia’s story is book #2 in the King Cousins series. It ends with a HEA and can be read as a standalone. There is an underlying story of crime in a small town that stretches to other books but does not affect the ability to read this book by itself. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. I was intrigued with Noah when I read Lush, and I really liked learning more about him in this book. I felt like I was able to understand his motivations and why his character acted the way he does. I love how protective he is of his family, his town, and ultimately of Lucia. In this book, I learned a little more about Noah’s job, yet still do not completely understand what it is. Lucia was a sweet heroine with a fierce soul. I loved her ability to fight back against attackers, societal expectations, and family pressure to stay true to herself and her ideals. I adored her ability to read people and especially her ability to understand Noah so quickly. I loved reading as they fall for each other and meet needs in each other they never would have admitted before. As always, I love the interactions of the King family. There is danger, drama, and suspense as they fight for what is right and support one another. Noah and Lucia steamed up my kindle, and the heat when they are resisting the inevitable and before they give in was sizzling. This was a very enjoyable read and I cannot wait for more books in the series.
Omg this book was absolutely a blast to write! And by far my steamiest. Noah was really fun for me to write because he feels so much and yet keeps it all locked up inside. But Lucia comes along and throws him for a LOOP. Watching him fall in love with her was so delicious.
Lucia is one of my favorite characters because I really empathize with her. She was born into circumstances that have nothing to do with her, and she's just trying to make a life for herself without judgement from other people, which I think we can all relate to.
This book also introduces another villain (Lush, the first book, had a villain called Northwood). His name is Alesso and he's a mafia lord up in Atlanta. He's been around for a while and is NOT a good person. Watching Noah and Lucia battle him was INTENSE.
And when I say this book is the steamiest I've written, IT IS STEAMY. When you get to Chapter 18, I just want you to know that I made myself blush writing it. Good God, that was hot. Once you've read it, comment on this review and let me know your reaction! I reaaally want to give you a hint but no spoilersssss.
So that's the scoop with this book. It's actually very important for the series, as it will set up the major series arc going forward with subsequent books. There are PLANS y'all.
Loving getting to know the King cousins! After getting to know a little about Noah in the previous book and how extremely protective he is of not only his siblings but his entire family, I was interested to see how he fell in love. Lucia is constantly being grouped in with her family when she has done nothing but work to make sure she is nothing like them. Assuming everyone feels the same way about her, she never thinks that anyone in town let alone Noah would be interested in her, but when he witnesses her attempted kidnapping, it causes him to make his move and act on his feelings towards her while also protecting her. I loved that throughout the entire story we are trying to figure out who actually is behind the original kidnapping and what it has to do with not only Lucia’s family, but the town as a whole. I was on the edge of my seat while reading and couldn’t get to the end fast enough to get my questions answered. I loved this story and the continuation of the King cousins, and I can’t wait for the next installment! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and this review is my own honest opinion.
This book is about Noah, Nathan’s twin brother from book one. Noah is a bit of an elusive man, no one really knows what his job is, but this book explores all that.
Lucia is part of a notorious family in the town of Ovid. She’s the only law abiding member!
When Lucia finds herself nearly being kidnapped, Noah is made to watch her and keep her safe, deciding on a fake relationship. Their chemistry however was super hot. It was only a matter of time before they gave into to their desire and when they did, it was steamy!
This book has a great plot which made me wanting to keep reading. It really drew me in. There was steam, angst and humour. All the characters were superb and really enhanced the book. I particularly loved Mario, even though he wasn’t in it for long.
I thoroughly recommend this book and now can’t wait for book 3!
This is part of the King series, a series about a pile of hot brothers & cousins in small town in Georgia, but could be read as a standalone but likely better if at least being read after the book about this twin brother Nathan, Lush. This has a different feel than the others, which are more general contemporary romance. Noah is the one brother with a mysterious/"suspenseful " background. Premise is a fake relationship between Noah & Lucia Bonetti. Lucia is the one honest member of a crime family, and someone tries to kidnap her when she is leaving her job at the bank. Hot chemistry & dirty talk, nice job with the suspense and creating believable scenarios for most of the plot twists (even almost the odd Mario part...), and a satisfying ending (and hint at other stories to come).
ARC REVIEW I honestly can't decide which of the two duos I like better. Noah and Lucia or Nate and Jude?!
I love to say that K.D. Elizabeth has done it again with 'Rouge'. I have to give it 5 stars! I absolutely loved reading Noah and Lucia's story and how their fake relationship turned into something they didn't expect. The story itself kept me on my toes dying to find out what happens next. Plus the sudden turn of events makes the story's plot that much better. In the end Noah and Lucia get something they both thought was not possible with their backgrounds. Which made my heart burst into a million pieces of joy. As I side note I have to say again that the epilogues in both series The King Brothers and The King Cousins are my favorite.
Gotta love these King Brothers!! KD Elizabeth has done an amazing job with this group of brothers and their stories!
It’s Noah King’s turn, he’s always on guard and not at all what he seems, but with every good hero he is everything we need him to be. Lucia has always wanted to find her place without being connected to her family and their not so positive lifestyles. Then one day she’s caught in Noah’s radar and everything changes.
This is an action packed, emotional ride and you are going to love it!! Do not miss out on this one!! This is the 5th King Brother and there’s one more to go!! Go grab these books, they are filled with all the good stuff!!
Absolutely LOVED this story!! Noah King has been a mystery to me from the beginning and I am pumped that we finally got his story!
Noah was everything I hoped he would be and more. He seems stoic and unfeeling on the outside, but that man has a heart of gold and he will do ANYTHING it takes to protect this people he loves. And talk about alpha male…WOW. This man brings the HEAT! I also loved Lucia. She keeps to herself, but she also doesn’t back down. She was the perfect match for Noah.
I also really love that we got more of the King family in this book. I loved catching up with the brothers as well as getting to know some of the King Cousins more! I am so pumped for the next book!
I did enjoy this one a lot compared to the rest of the series but dang that incorrect use of the word y’all, just the use of it at all compared to the other books where it wasn’t used much, was so jarring. My guess is most readers will be KU readers and if something like that can be changed in the kindle version it needs to be or you’re going to lose readers who dnf over it! I also can’t believe how healthy their relationship was which was great and really great for people who hate the miscommunication trope but I love a little miscommunication fighting/quick breakup so this book wasn’t totally my jam! But wow I love Noah and I love their relationship😭
3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 🌶️🌶️ I really enjoyed this book! I did not read the first book but I don’t feel like I was missing anything reading this book. I love how smart, independent and strong Lucia is. Noah is your typical “carry the world on my shoulders” Type of guy and I liked it a lot In this character. I think it’s definitely worth the read if you like head strong fierce women, hate to love, forced proximity, lots of action, sexy sexy steam and a happy ending ❤️
Ps the FMC talks dirty and I’m so here for it! I’d love to see it more in romance novels. Praise kink directed to the MMC is *chefs kiss* 💋
It has taken me forever to finish this book and I just decided to stop trying. I’ve had this thing checked out for months and I just never read very far before I put it back down. I’ve read dozens of books while trying to finish this one. It’s honestly been so long since I last picked it up that I can’t even remember why I couldn’t get into it, if it was any good or even where I was in the plot
Rogue by KD Elizabeth is part of the King Brothers/King Cousins series. This is a steamy and sweet small town romance where a fake relationship turns out to be so much more. Noah and Lucia heat it up and get sweet in this story filled with suspense, drama, action, and steam. I really loved the interactions between the characters.
This book got me out of a big reading slump and man, was it HOT 🔥
Lucia comes from a family of criminals, and she is always being grouped in with them, even though she is nothing like them and is a good person. Noah is the perfect alpha male, who grew up and went to school with Lucia. When he's trying to take down some bad men who are laundering money and guns, he lumps Lucia in with the bad guys and thinks she's in on it because of her family history, and the fact that she works at the bank for one of the suspected criminals. But when someone attempts to kidnap Lucia, Noah is there to stop it, and he knows she has nothing to do with these bad people. He takes it upon himself to protect Lucia after more attempts are made to take her, and their relationship grows as they get to know each other, and skirt around their real growing feelings for one another. When they finally give in, it is H.O.T. HOT 🔥🔥
I loved that this book had it all- suspense and mystery as we find out who's trying to kidnap Lucia; Lucia and Noah trying to skirt around their feelings for one another and the burn up until they finally give in, and seeing them both grow as characters. I also LOVED all the secondary characters and Noah's huge family! His brother Nathan was a hoot, and I loved Teddy too! Noah is the ultimate alpha male who is a protector and I loved his passion with Lucia. I also absolutely loved Lucia- she was such a strong willed, independent character who didn't back down or take shit from anyone. I always love a strong willed female main character!
I highly recommend this book, it was a fantastic read that I couldn't put down!
I just went straight in and read the book. I know it’s part of a really big world now and I’ll be so happy to read Al the books and stories in it, cuz I’m so curious now. I absolutely loved the book.
The story was OK. The characters also. The thing that kept me going was suspense/police part of it. I didn't like her writing style. I didn't like how the humorous parts were written. They felt out of place and weren't really funny.
