Ok…oh boy….here we go….this was an insane journey through a vicious biker gang, an innocent Angel turned into a bonifed bad ass, revenge, lust, rage, and, of course, Satan. To quote the woodland critters from South Park ‘, Hail Satan!’ The whole story felt like something out of a late 70s or even early 80s revenge thriller. There wasn’t really anything pleasant in here, and it was all very hateful and ugly material. And tons a sex and vulgar innuendos. There was even, unfortunately, some scenes of rape. Nothing too gratuitous, but it was detailed more than enough. So beware of that content, which always makes me want to skip ahead to not read it. There are no surprises here, either, and the story is just a straight up bloodbath amongst a nonstop action background. But I gotta tell ya, I really had fun here. Read it in one sitting and it kept my attention, and left me wanting more. This was my first Sodergren experience, and, needless to say, I’ve added all of his other books to my list. Topsider approved, you ask? Hell yeah!

What a hoot!!

Wowwww, I feel as though I’ve just watched a Rob Zombie movie, and expected Baby Firefly, Otis Driftwood, and Captain Spaulding to show up at some point, shooting up a storm! This was such a fun ride, never a dull moment from beginning to end. A biker gang called ‘Satan’s Burnouts’ ride into a town called Dennyville, and start terrorising the female owner/staff of the local diner. Old timer Sam, who is a day shy of his 70th birthday, goes all gung ho, and starts out trying to get revenge on the biker gang, for their attack on the diner. This was all out action, and I loved every single bit of it. It was brutal, full of blood, sex, and violence, with a kickass heroine at the end. This was my first book by David Sodergren, and I’m glad I found it, because it was a hoot! Highly recommended 5 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍 rating!! 🤘🏼

A fun throwback to 70's style horror flicks, it would be a great companion to a movie like "Race With the Devil". David Sodergren has fast become my new favorite horror writer.

A full throttle blast! This reminded me of when my aunt gave me all her old Easy Rider mags and I discovered a world that blew my mind! Tunes, babes and booze. Sodergren with another winner.

Honored to ask to beta/blurb this - highly recommend!

David Sodergren has done it again with SATAN'S BURNOUTS MUST DIE! If you like pulpy Grindhouse revenge-exploitation films then you will devour this one. If you already love Sodergren's prior work, then you will be elated at this new addition to his bibliography and how his range of styles, themes, and topics just keeps growing. SATAN's BURNOUTS MUST DIE! is fast paced, gritty, tense, and it had me extremely riled up the entire time. Steve Stred blurbed this as "Rob Zombie meets Easy Rider" and I absolutely love that.

The satanic biker gang in this book is quite unhinged, terrifying, and unpredictable (I mean, other than they will absolutely cause you pain and bloody mayhem). Our group of main character "heroes" rules - there's quite a variety of archetypes and they are all faced with bloody terror, unfair and awful decisions, and you would not want to be in any of their situations.

Biker gangs are scary (do you all remember the demonic biker gang double episode Season 6 premiere of Buffy? yikes). I hate the desert - and anything bad that happens there is already magnified. Home invasions are absolutely the most anxiety-inducing, terrifying things I can imagine. But let's throw in a lot of "bikersploitation" gore, mutiliation, and jaw-dropping, audibly-gasping scenes on top of everything.

What a thrilling, revenge-filled, and entertaining ride! Sodergren continues to amaze me with his storytelling on all levels. SATAN'S BURNOUTS MUST DIE! releases 11/25 - and I know a lot of friends here who will most definitely need to smash the hell out of that pre-order button!

A satanic gang of bikers ride into town and wreak havoc on some unfortunate locals.

Lots of gruesome, fun action and a great storyline that was well structured and delivered several gratefully received unforeseen twists and turns along the way.

Read like a 'B' rated horror movie at times which may have been the deliberate intention of the author from the outset.

No deep thinking required. so just immerse yourself into this horror adventure and...simply enjoy.

Rating: 3.5 biker gang stars.

Holy buckets of blood and gore!! This book was BRUTAL. I devoured this in two days! That's rare for me, especially with the little time I usually have for myself. This story is so wild I kept needing to know what happened next!

Sam West is awaiting his granddaughter, Angel's arrival to celebrate his 70th birthday. But little does he know, his plans are about to get ruined when a satanic motorcycle gang called "Satan's Burnouts" drive into his small town with a sex-crazed hunger for blood...

This is a blood-spattered love letter to exploitation-revenge films of the 70s and 80s. It's definitely not for the squeamish! It's got descriptions of INTENSE violence and gore, some sexual in nature. I had to pause a few times during some death and mutilation scenes, Sodergren is an expert at painting a very vivid picture that will stick with me for a long time. This story was very easy to get into. It's fast paced and extremely gripping! I also love motorcycles and knew I'd enjoy this book just based off the description. An unputdownable for me!

This is the first book I've read by this author and definitely won't be my last. I'm excited to check out his other books! and can't wait for the sequel to this one.
I'll be recommending this to all my horror loving friends who love revenge stories and aren't sensitive to over-the-top gore and sexual acts of violence.

3.5 Exciting biker revenge story starts the action early on and maintains a fevered pace right up to the end. Highlight is a long, gory high-speed car chase that will surely get the blood pumping, but the book just doesn’t feel as polished as the author’s other work. It’s a bit simplistic and aims for some feminist, final-girl themes in the second half that never entirely land. Fun, fast read either way.

Horny, satanic bikers, on acid!! 😈

This was a brilliant read, I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting!

It was brutal, blood drenched, carnage!!

When Angel starts to lose those she loves, we see her descend into murderous insanity and get her very bloody revenge! Showing the lengths she will go to, to survive and how it changes her completely!

This was a high-octane, adrenaline fuelled tale, leaving you very much satisfied and with the smell of burning rubber and freshly spilled blood in its wake!! What a ride!!!!

This is the 4th book that I have read by Sodergren and it was the one I enjoyed the least. That's not to say it's a bad book. David's writing is solid. I just didn't love this one. I never really felt any attachment to any of the characters and it read somewhat like a Bryan Smith book but it was less extreme. It says at the back there is going to be two sequels and I do plan to read them, however I preferred The Forgotten Island, Maggie's Grave and The Perfect Victim. I have his other books already and I'm looking forward to reading those too.

Wow...what a book! I have loved everything that I've read from David Sodergren, and "Satan's Burnouts Must Die!" was no different. It's exactly the type of over-the-top, sleazy, nasty, hilarious, disgusting, disturbing, mind-exploding extreme horror that I love! Absolutely not for everyone, but man...it is definitely for me! Would give more stars if I could.

When Angel, accompanied by her fiance, goes to visit her grandfather she has no idea just how bad her visit is about to go.

A group of Satanic bikers have come to town in search of some fun and some new sacrifices.

What a bloody ride this one was! I'm used to Sodergren novels with monsters, murderers and even witches. Satanic bikers was something I wasn't expecting to see from him. He did manage to pull it off with the usual creativity and gore that I've come to expect and love in his novels.

While the story didn't end quite how I thought it would, I really liked the direction it went in. Also finding out the story would continue on with another book was a happy surprise as well.

Being full of action, murder, dismemberment and a few disturbing sex scenes there's a little something for every horror lover wrapped up in this story.

What IS this? I need more, and urgently so. Why doesn't more of this exist. Splatterpunk? Exploitation? What is this? Somebody help because now I'm a junky for whatever this genre is. And yes, of course I am buying every book written by this author.

The book is perfect—no other way to state it. Totally unrestrained, entertaining, and memorable. So unapologetically gnarly and violent. And yet also a meaningful and original dialogue on men objectifying women. I'm just in awe. Yes, more please.

This was a phenomenal read, there was twists I didn't see coming and the gore was beautifully written. This was such a great feminist novel and I love how the author always has great social commentary in his work just as all great horror should. I loved the cult element and read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.

3.666 stars. This book does exactly what is says it's gonna do, and leans into the influence of the violent biker exploitation films of the 70's. It is pretty straight forward, and a bit dumb in places... and I found myself irritated with characters to the point that I really didn't enjoy reading parts of it... but overall it was a quick and decent revenge story (although there was one scene that was totally unnecessary and was a choice to include it, so that makes me a little uncomfortable to talk about the book in general)

A gnarly, fast-paced, deeply disturbing but fun as hell ride that is "Satans Burnouts Must Die" by David Sodergren. "Satans Burnouts Must Die" is a story following Sam West and his granddaughter Angel who must take on a Satan-worshipping gang as they ravage through Sam's small town. I burned through all 180 pages in one day, feeling empty and sick when it was over. Out of all of David Sodergren's bibliography, "Satans Burnouts Must Die" was by far the most disturbing and nightmare-inducing. I would also like to add a bonus that David has announced that this is book one out of three, which is just fantastic news because despite being scarred for life by this story, I am itching for more. Happy Reading! x

This is my first Sodergren book but I’m really interested in reading more of his work. It reminds me so much of some of my favourite 70s horror films. It’s such an interesting reading and a wild ride with thrills and revenge.

Overall, a fun quick read. Really good pace that starts quick and goes all the way thru. The descriptions are fun, and graphic, but I would not have minded a bit more. It was enjoyable to sort of bounce between who you think the main character is going to be. Should be fun to see where the next one goes.

"The power of Satan flows through me. It gives me life, powers you couldn't even dream of, let alone comprehend. Only those who've drunk from the pussy of divinity could understand."

Sam West lives on the outskirts of Dennyville. He is about to celebrate his 70th birthday, and his granddaughter, Angel, is coming to visit. However, this year will be a party like no other when Sam and Angel are faced with a devil-worshipping biker gang called Satan's Burnouts.

I started the year off with a bang because this book was one hell of a ride! Satan's Burnouts has everything you need - babes, blood, sex, devil worshipping, and violence. A biker gang comes to town and roughs up a bartender and her server. Sam decides to take things into his own hands and seeks revenge. This is where shit hits the fan!

I won't say anymore because it is a short book. At 200 pages, it is fast paced and full of action. It is dark and tense, a delightful homage to 70s occult horror. This one is for you if you enjoy extreme horror. I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy!

This is probably the most gruesome book I’ve ever read. I mean, it’s just absolutely brutal.

It’s an homage to exploitation/revenge films of the 70’s and 80’s and that’s exactly how it reads, a grindhouse movie in literary form. I would never recommend this book to anyone personally just because of how they might judge me after they read it. But between you Internet strangers and me: it was pretty great. It was simultaneously a train wreck, a thrill-a-minute page turner, and a guilty pleasure.

That’s the real takeaway here, my real review. Everything that follows from here is just me nitpicking over one detail that bothered me.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

One thing I really couldn’t understand: The biker gang seemed to be about 50/50 male and female. The female “Burnouts” were always portrayed as willing and eager participants in the mayhem and torture and murder and it is never implied that they were being threatened or coerced into going along with it by the men. So why does Angel come to the conclusion that they were? Blaming the male gender exclusively seems like a really bizarre direction for that character to take, given the events of the book.

Equally perplexing was the way that all the women in the book treat Sam. Sam is a seventy year old grandfather and war veteran. At some point Sam comes to the aid of two women in a diner who are being terrorized by the Burnouts. So one senior citizen stands up to twelve psychotic members of a satanic motorcycle gang and runs them all away before they can do any physical harm to the women. Instead of any kind of appreciation towards the old man, the women lash out at him and basically call him a coward because….wait for it… He didn’t save them fast enough. Lol, what?

Later on Sam tries (and fails) to take on the Burnouts by himself. After that point every female character in the book, including Sam’s own Granddaughter, blame him (and his masculine desire to play the hero) for every crime committed by the Burnouts. So they simultaneously blame him for trying to be the hero and also for not trying hard enough (or fast enough) to be the hero. Poor Sam. The guy can’t catch a break.

There was a way to tell this story where it would have made sense to have every female character come to the conclusion that all men are scum. But this wasn’t it. The way it’s written, it just left me scratching my head, wondering what is wrong with these women. Did they all experience some sort of childhood trauma at the hands of men that the reader isn’t privy to?

Anyway, maybe I’m missing something. Or just overthinking it. Or underthinking it. Whatever. Anyways it’s a pretty minor detail in what is otherwise a fun read.
