Trapped in the Abyss by the underhanded scheme of a fallen prince, Thorn and his companions are in for a long walk through the Devil infested wasteland.
Hunted by corrupted Devils, Thorn’s only option for making it out alive is taking a chance on the mysterious inheritance of a long dead Elven High Mage. As he races back to Angoril he will have to figure out how to help a collapsing outpost of escaped slaves or risk being stuck in the Abyss forever.
With forces he barely understands at his fingertips, Thorn must decide between accepting power and the responsibility that comes with it or abandoning the path that has been thrust on him. No matter what he decides, the impact of his choices will rock the world of Nova Terra, changing the way the game is played forever.

In spite of the numerous retcons through the series and the fight scenes that are excruciatingly long, I had felt that the series was slowly getting better. However, a major premise of the series is that there is a complete information blackout, the only way to get in depth information is to play and experience it for yourself. Now out of nowhere for the first time in the series there is a forum, you no longer need to meet a pathfinder in person to update your maps, and you can purchase and download guides. 1/5 stars for a complete cop out. I wouldn’t complain if these features had always been present, but changing things this drastically this far into the series is just lazy writing.
The reach for epic is overwhelming the actual story. There is no choice, there is fate. The constant betrayal followed by overcoming is just boring. Same story, different location.
We finally get a conclusion to some long ongoing arcs
I'm resting this one a 4* vs my normal 5 for a few reasons. 1. While we settled some of the arcs that had been lingering, the end left me unsatisfied. I'm sure that book 9 will promptly take the loose ends left here and tie them up, but it's a little frustrating to be 8 books in and still waiting on the big main event. Especially when, with every book its felt like THIS could be the book. 2. Theres a scene in here where Thorn and Velin pretty much rehash their discussion on power and responsibility and goals that they had back in book 3 or 4 I think it was. I understand on some level, after all teenagers waffle on emotions all the time. But at the same time, Thorn seemed to have firmly settled himself then and suddenly it was back here for a short moment. I'd have preferred to leave it in the past. Also Velin's handling of it didnt set right with me. She keeps being written in as a love interest for Thorn and then she rips him a new one when hes trying to figure things out. Her "brutal honesty" just feels to me to be asinine. I get I shes a less emotional or cold character in thr main, but it just doesnt feel right for their supposed relationship. Even disregarding any romance angles.
On the flip side, the action and mechanics were as fun as usual, and we got to see some cool new abilities handed out.
This story just keeps growing deeper and drawing everyone in
But will they succeed in preventing the Age of Darkness patch that keeps trying to affect the game, only quest completions keeping it at bay. Meanwhile, Thorn and his team are finally getting back to Rakkam to finish what he started with the Dwarves and the Stone Heart. But the world is ramping up in difficulty, intrigue and danger levels all over are rising, creating new adventures and challenges for the travelers. Just as Thorn and his team finish the New Hope quests, Velin is wrapping up the capital city quests after the queen appeared to take control of the empire. Leaving the last two princes without a throne to fight over. And so much more happens but Thorn is finally working on his magic and runes which are quite powerful and versatile. Read on to learn more!
Wow Seth Ring writes another winner! Due to some underhanded scheming our MC Thorn and his adventure team find themselves trapped in the abyss, which is exactly what it sounds like. And they hafta slog their way across the abyss to find their way out! But don't get me wrong, it's just as vibrant as any other book in this series with plenty of action. There's plenty of quests to fill, and Devil Monsters to fight, before they can win the day. And before they can finish the Path of the Stone King. So yeah grab the book and buckle-up for another great adventure... Better yet get the audiobook, because Eric Jason Miller has a story to tell you!
The fight to protect the imperial capital shifts when Thorn and four allies get sent by a portal to the Abyssal lands, things progress from there. Another big continuity error near the end, but hopefully, when these later books are updated, it will be fixed. Average editing. Two books to go, and then there's the side series. As the MC is underage according the Western standards, that means no GF or any romantic entanglements; it's strictly adventure and suspense, which after eight novels, should not be a surprise to any readers. Onward, to book 9!
Nova Terra: Stone King: A Liturgy/GameLit Adventure (The Titan Series Book 8) got quite verbose. But at this point in the series and as delightful as it has been, who would quit?
BTW, I put the book title in this review for a reason! You see, Amazon sends an email when a number of readers liked a review. BUT, there is no reference to WHAT book was reviewed. The last such email, I finally reasoned out, was the 3rd Harry Potter book - how long ago did I write that one!?
Whatever Happened To Ouroboros? And Duratan? And A Few Others?
There were several important characters who have traveled off and disappeared from the narrative — save for teasing little scenes here and there. This novel doesn't answers the question. In fact, this novel draws the question out further.
This is part of a LitRPG series that runs light on the blocks of statistics which are common to the genre, but this is not a detriment to the story. Altogether an excellent read.
Book 8 of Nova Terra:Titan. As we near the end of this first series, this book takes a very large leap forward. There is a bit more philosophy tied into this book and the struggle of our individual place in the world. I like the thoughts put forward and the highlighted trade-offs. This book really dives into the magic system and brings us a deeper understanding on how the magic system works. Not to mention plenty of pounding and smashing. Excited for book 9.
I am always surprised by the depth and detail written into these books, and Stone King does not disappoint. There is not a moment where I didn't want to read more. This is the only LitRPG series I have continued to read after the first book and I don't think I will ever stop!
I am super excited to see what Seth Ring releases next and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Thorn, the Stone King, and his guild friends fight many challenges opening portals to neew lands and the Alissa. Together with other guilds of the game they reclaim the Dwarven Elimental Forge fighting and winning an unwinnable challenge. Lastly Thorn finally works through where and how he wants to live his life in the game.
I'm really enjoying this series and seeing the development of Thorn. Seeing how he overcomes the seemingly endless obstacles and having new realizations that the problems in his life are only as big as he makes them, is a great insight into human nature and the drama we all perpetuate. Well done!
Standout feature in this book is definately how slice of life elements form an integral part along with all the standard action, and adventure sequences. This makes for a refreshing change. New and old enemies abound, more shades of grey in moral leaning ,and dynamic characters. Definately want to see how the rest of the series is fleshed out.
Ah, this one was an interesting every in the series. Ultimately, I did enjoy it. I really like how this book actually wrapped up a few threads that had been hanging over the MC for the last couple of books. The climax took a little bit of an unexpected turn, but I think I like how things ended up. Can't wait for the next one!
This series has me just geeked about reading more about the wonderful fanciful place known as Nova Terra. I have grown to enjoy reading about my now favorite characters and the endless quests and adventures that falls into their laps. You like fantasy? You like quest video games? Then this book series is for you!
The main character gets to wrestle with himself and lots of enemies. But he has some interesting revelations along the way.
One of the challenges with this genre is that there is a lot of battles - epic battles in this case - but somehow the author is doing a decent job of writing the scenes such that the fighting doesn’t feel repetitive.
I love how Thorn is growing up, and that the book explores his personal maturity. That could be my viewpoint though. It can be hard when a friend or other important person gives much needed, and harsh, advice. It's worth exploring that advice though. Skies also gives great advice, and it was an unexpected perspective shift that made absolute sense.
I seriously enjoyed the book. I love the world building and all the characters. The magic system has grown with intricacies. Can't wait to see where the next book take us.
Another wonderful addition to the story of Thorn! While I don’t always agree with the way thorn does things, I MUST know more! So, Seth ring, please write faster and tell us more about this intense and richly wrought story.
This story of a young man who is forced to go into a game while his body is being medically repaired was a very interesting entertaining fast paced action packed story that I really enjoyed reading.
This story still continues to entertain and surprise after 8 books. I'm still reading straight through them and the story is gripping. I'm looking forward to the last 2 books and seeing where this story leads.
Sometimes a long series will get bogged down by the complicated plot or start to drift in a different direction, or the author gets tired and the quality drops. This series is still going strong though.
What is to say about this book? Thorn is still op, the story keeps progressing and the game gets more complicated. I would give it a 4.5 because it's not perfect.
OMG I got too many responsibilities and am being stretched too thin, whatever shall I do? --> SHADOWCLONE JUTSU; Well, just make a copy of yourself, why not? 🙄 This 'solution' is so ridiculous, I can't even be mad.
