BAKING TO BRING A SMILE TO EVERYONE'S FACE When Peter Sawkins became the youngest ever winner of the Great British Bake Off in 2020, it was a landmark moment on a journey that began when he started baking flapjacks and shortbread aged five. In his debut cookbook, Peter reveals his trademark tricks to baking success. With easy-to-follow recipes, he shares everything from bakes for beginners to celebratory showstoppers . . . and, of course, all with a gluten-free option. From his Cranachan Cake and Christmas Croquembouche to Apple Galette and Mini Carrot Cakes, Peter's flair for flavour and passion for baking make this a book you will turn to again and again.

I was so dissapointed to not be able to get this book when it came out because I love GBBO but geing gluten-free I couldn't use the shows recipes. I was thrilled to be able to order from blackwells dot com for a 1/3 off the price from am*zon.

Anyway, what I love about this is that part of it is a basics in British baking. The different meringues are all togther to make it easy to decide which you want to make. There is a recipe for curds made with citrus and one for juice curds (raspberry, strawberry etc.) And all the recipes that contain gluten, tell how to make gluten free with simple substitutes.

This is a truly great book. Foremost, everything is achievable for a semi-novice baker, which is a massive thing for me as some books are overly complex. Also, there isn't an overwhelming amount of recipes, which prevents it from being overwhelming. This is so much the case that I have set myself the challenge of baking every single thing, which is going well so far!

My favourite bonus thing is that you can also literally hear Peter's 'splendid' Scottish voice in your head as you read all the blurbs.

My lovely husband surprised me with this book and I cannot wait to start baking! Love the little stories before each bake. It's always nice when author's put their own touches on bakes.
