Welcome to Talbott's Cove, Maine, a place where everyone deserves second chances and happy ever afters.

Included in this collection:

Fresh Catch: M/M Roommates-to-Lovers Romance
Take a vacation, they said. Get away from Silicon Valley's back-stabbing and power-grabbing. Recharge the innovative batteries. Unwind, then come back stronger than ever.

Instead, I got lost at sea and fell in love with an anti-social lobsterman.

There's one small issue:

Owen Bartlett doesn't know who I am. Who I really am.

***

I don't like people.

I avoid small talk and socializing, and I kick my companions out of bed before the sun rises.

No strings, no promises, no problems.

Until Cole McClish's boat drifts into Talbott's Cove, and I bend all my rules for the sexy sailor.

I don't know Cole's story or what he's running from, but one thing is certain:

I'm not letting him run away from me.

Hard Pressed: M/F town sweetheart meets the new sheriff
Dear Jackson,

I'm leaving you this note because I know you're very busy and I don't want to waste the town sheriff's time. Lord knows I've already wasted enough of it.

Thank you for taking me home last night and...everything else. I made you a basket of wild blueberry muffins for your trouble. That seemed like the appropriate baked good for getting naked in your living room.

I wasn't myself last night. I didn't mean to kiss you or fondle your backside or ask all those intimate questions. Thank you for pretending to enjoy it.

It was very noble of you to sleep on the couch while I was starfished on your bed. I couldn't help but notice it's quite large. The bed, that is. I swear, I didn't notice anything else when I let myself out this morning.

As you know, Talbott's Cove is a ridiculously small town and there's no chance we can avoid each other. Not that I'd want to avoid you, of course, but I'm not sure I can look at you without thinking of the forty different ways I made a fool of myself.

Instead of avoidance, let's try to be friends. We'll forget all about last night…if that's what you want.

Please burn this note after you read it—

Annette

p.s. I whipped up some cinnamon buns, too. Please enjoy them. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't get buns out of my mind today.

Far Cry: M/F billionaire and the bartender

Brooke Markham needs a man. A real good man.

But she's not looking for a keeper. She's too busy kicking ass, running an empire, and caring for her ailing father to spend time with men who want annoying things like relationships and commitment and…conversation.

Brooke knows what she wants and it's not a future with the growly barkeep.

JJ Harniczek needs money. A whole lot of money.

He's determined to launch his distillery, expand his tavern, and put Talbott's Cove on the foodie tourism map. But there's no way he's asking Brooke for a dime. Not before he takes her to bed and definitely not after.

JJ knows where he's headed and the blonde bombshell isn't about to change that.

Not until she changes his entire world.

Rough Sketch: M/F opposites attract enemies-to-lovers

Smart, successful, and sitting pretty at the top of her game, Neera Malik has it all figured out.

Save for the small issue of Gustavo Guillmand.

The artist with a cult—and Instagram—following has a problem and it's not his preference for shirtless selfies.

No, he has an attitude problem, a minding his own business problem, an infuriatingly sexy problem.

They can't stand each other and they can't stay away from each other.

5+ STARS
All the books in this series are so funny and full of heart, and the writing is amazing. They make me want to head to Maine right now. Canterbary does such a good job describing the town and the life in it, I was pulled in immediately by the story, the humor and the authenticity... The characters feel so real and their struggles genuinely relatable. She creates characters with such diversity, no stereotypical characters that get so overused...

More of my thoughts on each book in the series:
Talbott's Cove #1 Fresh Catch
Talbott's Cove #2 Hard Pressed
Talbott's Cove #3 Far Cry
Talbott's Cove #4 Rough Sketch

Even though all books are standalones, I would really recommend to read the series in order, to be able to fully appreciate all the side characters in the books. And while each book has one couple as the main focus there are minor continuing stories throughout.

Salt, Sea, and Love!
Fresh Catch is thoughtful, clever, entertaining, passionate, sexy, and endearing; an astoundingly relatable and absolutely marvelous love story! As usual, Kate Canterbary's attention to detail and distinct characters radiated from the pages and into my heart. As a reader, I love her ability to make me invest in these individuals and their stories. A great book should evoke emotion and connection. Fresh Catch does this in spades!

Owen is a hardworking, loyal man. He loves his solitude, his routine, and his tradition. He can be a bit snarly and rough around the edges. Cole is brainy, brilliant even. However, his singular mindedness tends to cause friction with his business. He is always in his head and his own way. Both of these men could be hard to tolerate and yet they aren't. In the capable hands of Ms. Canterbary, they are flawed and vulnerable and human. The banter and heat generated by Owen and Cole sizzles, crackles, and blazes to life. Their love story is one of self-discovery, friendship, trust, and hope. As Owen and Cole open themselves to the possibility of love, so too does the reader. Love is unambiguously LOVE!

Hot and Fresh Out the Oven!
Hard Pressed is an irresistible love story. Set in Kate Canterbary's picturesque and charming Talbott's Cove, it introduces us to some quirky and unique characters. It is a place where everyone knows everyone else. So when the town sweetheart and the new sheriff share some sparks, the whole town is watching.

Annette is kind, hardworking, generous, and loyal. Her bookstore and baking are her passions. She sets goals and tries to follow plans. When her plans are blown apart, her confidence is shaken. She definitely feels lust and passion where Sherriff Lau is concerned, but is she ready to experience more?

Jackson is diligent, determined, protective, and patient. He is determined to become a welcomed and valued member of the community. He consciously admires Annette from afar, until one night fate throws them together. Once he gets a taste of Annette, he craves her and can't be sated. His dilemma is convincing Annette to pursue their chemistry and connection. The heat between Annette and Jackson is scintillating! They will make you squirm and pant and pulsate. The dirty talk is filthy hot and the desire blazes from the pages.
Ms. Canterbary never fails to amaze me with her attention to detail and engaging dialogue. Her characters are layered, genuine, intricate beings. They propel the story along with heart, emotion, and humor. I fell in love with sexy, swoony Jackson Lau. And with flirty, fabulous Annette Cortossi. And with several other Talbott's Cove residents that I hope to visit with again, soon!

Temptation and Trust
Far Cry may be Ms. Canterbary's best work, yet. She has a gift for writing dialogue that showcases wit, humor, and vulnerability. The dialogue in Far Cry is stellar and oh so satisfying. Just like the sexual tension between Brooke and JJ. The way these two verbally spar and press each other's buttons is intoxicating.

Brooke is dealing with a high pressure career, personal baggage, and a bit of a personal crisis. She is trying to shoulder an immense load alone and that pressure has her about to erupt. Who better to erupt on than a grumpy, bearded bar owner?!

JJ is running a successful business and simultaneously trying to launch a new venture that will transform the town of Talbott's Cove. He doesn't need the sheriff adding a tenant/worker to his list of item's to manage. And he most definitely doesn't need Brooke-Ashley Markham complicating his life.

The heat between JJ and Brooke is blistering. Though they try to resist, the temptation is too alluring. Along the way, they break through facades and penetrate into each other's hearts with tenderness and passion.
The townspeople of Talbott's Cove are a nosey, well intentioned, and interesting bunch. Once again, the relationship between Brooke and Annette is #friendshipgoals. Visiting Talbott's Cove is a great way to wrap up the summer. I highly recommend it, as Far Cry is one of my favorite reads of 2019!

Roots and Wings!
Rough Sketch is high on heat and low on angst. It has some very filthy, feisty sexual escapades that will make your whole body quiver. Gus and Neera are two extremely different pieces to an intricate, magnificent puzzle.

The artist and the task master are not as unlikely a pairing as they seem. Gus and Neera have the ability to needle each other with words and glances. That eventually leads to their bodies colliding and collaborating in intense passion. Although they are opposites, they endeavor to SEE each other down to their cores. Theirs is not a relationship that is predictable or likely. However, the ability to encourage and love one another for who they are and who they strive to be is radiant. Rough Sketch moves fluidly from a faint outline into a vibrant masterpiece with the aid of complex characters, majestic scenery, meaningful conversations, and a lovable, supportive cast. This love gives them roots and wings!

FRESH CATCH
I read the short story in Incognito awhile back and I couldn't tell the author enough how much I loved it and her ability to seamlessly venture into M/M stories. Fresh Catch has absolutely everything we love most about Kate's writing. It is witty beyond belief-the way she words things that you inevitably think but never know how to say in away that nearly always makes you giggle in some way or go "darn girl, that's exactly what I would have said, if I'd been able to pull those words out of my hat". She also has a way of putting that love feeling or that lust feeling into words that illicit the deepest feelings for you or have you thinking, "THAT is exactly how I feel about my significant other".

"We want to be accepted, cherished, adored. We want someone to recognize our messy,
complicated souls, and love us for those messes and complications."

I have so many highlighted sections that say LOVE THIS, THIS <3 because she has all the words. The Owen and Cole love story expanded here is one for the ages. Watching 'salty' Owen, drop his walls, flip over and bare his belly was an absolutely beautiful thing. As always with Kate, there is plenty of steam. If I could, I'd give this easily more than 5 stars.

HARD PRESSED
If you read Fresh Catch, you too may have been intrigued by Annette and what her story in this wonderful sleepy little town, Talbott's Cove is all about. (and if you did not read Fresh Catch, you will absolutely still enjoy this story) I know I was and Kate Canterbury completely delivered with her usual wonderful way with words. From the beginning, Annette's inner thoughts had me rolling with laughter AND feeling for her in equal measures. Add Jackson's thoughts and all bets were off. Baked goods never tasted so good and although we of course could not taste them, we could read and FEEL the effects they had on both Annette and Jackson. There are some characters here that you will fall in love with and want to know WAY more about including the bestie Brooke and for some reason, the bartender JJ intrigues the heck out of me. In any case, you will not be disappointed in this wonderful story of two people-one who knows what he wants, and the other who seems to not believe she deserves that wonderful thing called love. So many highlights but one phrase that has stuck in my head and continues to make me roll has "Conundrum in my pants" as part of it. Wonderfully delicious, steamy and perfect story.

FAR CRY
I'm not sure there are words that I haven't previously used to describe how much I love Kate Canterbary's writing and every time I read another of her books, it becomes my favorite. I love Talbot Cove and I've loved the previous stories that take place there. Far Cry though? I think it is truly one of my favorites. Brooke (I can't tell you how much I love Bam-Bam) seems to be a cross between Shannon and Magnolia to me. There is nothing I loved more than the text interactions between her and her bloodless sister. Kate writes like some of us which we would think lol...quick on the draw, amazing dialogue, witty as heck, intellectual, smart, self-deprecating, amazing humor. JJ drew me in from the minute I met him early on...his grouchy, cranky persona completely intriguing to me and Far Cry brought him to the top of my book boyfriend list. When you spend so much time trying to prevent others from hurting you and leaving you, you build a wall that only the most special of people can ever break down. Watching it fall was indeed a beautiful thing...but it wasn't easy and there is plenty of fight left between these two.

ROUGH SKETCH
Rough Sketch definitely has Kate's trademark witty banter. I live for these conversations both with others and the internal dialogue. It always makes me smile. While Kate's books are usually nicely steamy, this one was even more so and I loved every second of it. It is a quick read but brings some of my favorite characters back, Cole, Owen, JJ and Brooke. Would I have loved more? Of course. I feel like I didn't really get a chance to know Neera or Gus as well as I'd love to. They are likable enough, I just couldn't love them like I do all of Kate's other characters.

Fresh Catch is the latest book by Kate Canterbary and it's a little something different from The Laydee Writer, but as with all her books, I was not disappointed!

I am a regular MM reader but I can understand how someone who hasn't read this genre may be hesitant to read an MM book as they might feel like they have no frame of reference or understanding of a romance between two men. They might ask questions like "could it be hot?" or "would I feel their struggle or understand their love?". Here's what I have learned from reading MM: A superbly written romance story will transcend virtually all limitations you set on your likes/dislikes. This isn't an incredible m/m (male/male) story, it's an amazing HUMAN story.

With Hard Pressed, cnce again Kate Canterbary delivers another five-star book that just reinforces to me - yet again- that she is the most intelligent, witty, sophisticated romance writer out there. Hard Pressed is beautifully written story set in the fiction town of Talbott's Cove, which we first visited in the equally awesome book Fresh Catch and meet Annette, the owner of the local bookstore and baker extraordinaire. She catches the eye of the new Sheriff Jackson Lau and what follows is intricately woven story (filled with sass, witter banter and super hot sexy times) of two real and relatable people finding that spark and getting their happily ever after.

What I love is that there isn't serious angst or drama. Jackson isn't some damage jaded cop from the big smoke who is running away to a small town to escape from his demons and Annette isn't some fragile damage female in need of a white knight to make her whole. The characters are not perfect though and this isn't an insta-love story. They have their struggles and they feel real and relatable.

FAR CRY is Book 3 of the Talbotts Cove series by Kate Canterbary and if I can use a corny pun, it is a "far cry" from your typical hot billionaire/hockey player/[insert your favourite romance trope here]

I say this again every time I review a book written by the Laydee Writer: she is by far the wittiest, most intelligence writer out there and my word is a better place after reading her words

Once again we visit the fictional small town of Talbotts Cove and we've all been waiting to read Brooke's (AKA Bam Bam) story since she first appeared in Hard Pressed as the "bloodless sister" of Annette. I guess you could say Far Cry is a second-chance romance, but Kate avoids all the cliches and we're not bogged down in flashbacks and past angst. The interactions between her and JJ as the story progresses are pure magic and you will laugh out loud plus you'll get all the feels as you follow Brooke and JJ's journey to their HEA

Rough Sketch is filthy little tasty treat from Kate Canterbary and has all the ingredients of what I love about her writing: smart, intelligent, witty writing, great banter, and she has reach new level super hot sexy times with this novella

It started life as a story for the Read Me Romance Podcast (narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Christian Fox), but Kate has added new material and you get to visit with familiar friends from the Talbot Cove world as well as follow the story of Gus and Neera - a great "opposites attract" story

The author packs a lot into this novella and you will be draw into the chemistry and attraction between Gus and Neera. A great, fun, sexy read that is well worth your time - 5 super hot stars *****

Fresh Catch:
This is everything you want from the author, but in M/M form. If you're hesitant about M/M, this might be the perfect introduction to that world. I'm very discriminating with my M/M reads and this is exactly the type of storyline I prefer. While Coles character develops throughout the story; it's Owen, the surly, growly lobsterman, that stole my breathe with his hidden heart of gold. Towards the end of the book is where the full-on emotional rollercoaster hits, but the witty, smart writing and the moments that make you physically smile and/or let out a little chuckle; it just brings on all the feels.

Hard Pressed:
Once again the author has created a couple that you can't help but fall in love with. This ever growing world of hot growly guys, salty sassy ladies, alcohol fueled bad decisions that lead to really good stuff in the end just got even more amazing. I'm always fascinated with how the author is so good at character development that it makes me wish that these characters were real.

This book stars the lovely heroine, Annette, and she doesn't need a man messing with her head, she does that plenty on her own, so when the new swoony sheriff expresses his desire for her, she doubts all of it. You'll experience all the feels from the laugh out loud moments; to the witty banter; to the sexy times; to the those moments that will tug on your heart strings, and to that one moment where you connect and relate with the one of the main characters and you can't help but stop and say "oh".

Far Cry:
The author does not disappoint with her kickass, salty, sassy heroine and a hot, grumpy, growly hero, accompanied by conversations that are witty, funny, and vulnerable. Full of top level feels and extra saltiness, this is by far my favorite book in the Talbott's Cove series. Brooke and JJ are essential friends with benefits and that turn into a couple who fight with each other basically as a form of foreplay. Based on how Brooke and JJ interact with the main characters in the two previous books in the series, never did I think these characters could ever be so vulnerable, especially with each other. When they finally admit their love to each other, I didn't expect it to go down the way it did, but when it happens, expect your heart to melt in the best way possible. On top of getting an amazing love story, you also get a beautiful story of friendship between Brooke and Annette that Hard Pressed only began to scratch the surface of.

Rough Sketch:
Straight laced, good girl who gets the job done meets free spirited, can’t be caged, artist. There is a lot packed into this story without the sense of being overwhelmed. Mix together serious sexy times with self-discovery of what you want in life and learning how to voice those wants plus witty foreplay-esque banter and you have quite the intoxicating recipe. While all of the author’s characters have a sense of realism, the briefly mentioned awkwardness between the hero and heroine hit a new level of realism.

You cannot go wrong with any of these books!

Fresh Catch
This book has all the feels. You get sweetness, sexiness, angst, tension, and so many more emotions. The character development is complex and compelling. The storyline is different and intriguing. The chemistry between the characters is sizzling. The story has an energy and a build up that most books lack. The love is palpable and beautiful. The sex is scorching. On top of all that, there are interesting facts and like her other books, you walk away feeling smarter.

Hard Pressed
I cannot recommend this book enough. It is a standalone and no cliffhangers. You will fall in love with this community and want to move to Talbott’s Cove. This author has such a way of not only telling us a story, but drawing us into their world, where we just want to set up permanent residence. This is one of those book that I wish was a million pages, because I don’t want to leave this community or the people. Giving this book 5 stars is not enough. You NEED this book and this author in your life!

Far Cry
This is one of those books where you feel immersed in the story. Not only do you feel part of this town, but you feel all the emotions of these characters. You want to move to this town and be friends with these people. This story is the culmination of all of the best things about Kate Canterbary’s writing...growly men, strong women, witty texts, clever banter, steamy sex, amazing female friendships, and intelligent writing that will make you feel smarter by just reading the book.

Rough Sketch
On top of this enthralling story, the steaminess and chemistry is off the chart. In her other books she's written some hot and sexy scenes, but in this book she has one of the hottest and dirtiest scenes I've ever read. It's worth reading just for that.

Fresh catch.
I highly recommend this love story between Owen and Cole. Owen, the grumpy lobsterman who has the biggest heart. And Cole, the one who brings him chaos and light. They are both are interesting characters with their own endearing quirks but Owen, god Owen, I love him down to the marrow. How sexy is a grumpy lobsterman with a heart of gold that so is pure. Gah.

Hard pressed
Annette, wonderful, loving, giving, funny, strong, Annette. A business owner, friend, daughter, sister, made to feel as if she is someone to be settled for instead of treasured. But that all changes one fateful night and Jackson Lau can’t get enough of her or her baked goods. Jackson is dreamy. He is kind and patient, but also knows what he wants and goes about getting it/her. He’s sexy and has the goods to back it up (if you know what I’m saying *wink, wink*).

Far Cry
This author is known for her grumpy men and she sure delivered with JJ. But Brooke gave him a run for his money. The struggle and heat between these two is unbelievably good.

Rough Sketch
Great novella. Really loved the characters. Smart and steamy.

Kate Canterbary is such a greater writer, one of my favorites. Her writing is so smart and witty. And she adds amazing detail and accuracy to her stories. I loved Talbots Cove and can only dream of making it up the east coast one day and stumbling upon a quaint little town with all the feels (and blueberry muffins).

I love the world of Talbot's Cove. Kate has created a world I just want to crawl inside these stories and live there. Small Towns are messy and complex...TC is no different. Everyone is intertwined and no one has a secret. Kate crates these real characters… They're messy and imperfect but everyone gets their HEA. Kate does romance right…. Imperfect people finding imperfect loves (but perfect for them). These stories are great sexy times but also have so much heart.

Talbott's Cove is one of my most favorite small towns EVER! Kate Canterbary created the perfect setting for these incredible stories and having them all in one boxed set? *FAINTS* I loved every single story in this collection and I could seriously read them over and over again. With alpha males, strong heroines, humor, sexiness, and a rollercoaster of emotions, each story will deliver the perfect mix of heat and heart. This boxed set is an absolute must-read. One of my small-town romance series ever. The Talbott's Cove series hits hard and includes MM , Age Gap, Enemies-to-Lovers, and even a sexy sheriff that's smitten for a bookstore owner that loves to bake.

I love absolutely everything about this romance book world, and this is a perfect opportunity to own all the books in one collection.
