this is what i get for starting a fic without seeing the tags just bc it has my fav ship- pain, loads of it. idk how i was stupid enough to not realise how sad the book was gonna be even after fucking knowing it was inspired by achilles come down.

but i'm not complaining. not at all. bc this fic was absolutely beautiful and i love it sm and i'm never gonna forget it.

it's not always a fic, or any book acc makes me relate and think and feel so fucking much. i was crying half the time and dreading what's gonna happen next the other half but the sakuatsu crumbs and atsubokuaka bonding and jackals my pookies AND HAN MY SIS MY ATMD kept me going.

reading atsumu's pov in this fic was so difficult for me, both bc he's my fav character in haikyuu i am so emotionally attached to that boy and bc he was so fucking relatable at times.

plus tsumu reminded me so much of jude from 'a little life'. healing is never linear and this fic kept reminding me of that every time i deluded myself into thinking it's going to be a smooth sail now. bc it never is. but you still gotta move forward, you still gotta live bc that's what life is.

omi was such a sweeheart in this fic i loved him smsm i love the way he was always there for tsumu no matter how hard it got at times. did i want more omi and consequently more sakuatsu?? yes ofc i did but this was atsumu's story and atsumu's journey and i'm acc happy with how things progressed between them.

i cannot end this review without talking about bokuaka and the atsumu protection squad, especially bokuto koutarou. this story and this review would be incomplete without them all. bokuto was just so so perfect and the way he and akaashi were there for tsumu had my whole fucking heart their friendship is so so precious and i love love love them for being there for tsumu.

icl i'm very biased towards the jackals and it could be bc i read mostly read sakutatsu fics but every single one of them is so precious and i'm so close to making a msby black jackals protection squad myself. the way they all took care of tsumu and respected him above all just made me love them more.

while i could chalk up most of what happened to "that's just how teenagers are", i won't. bc regardless of age, everyone should be considerate and respectful enough to not hurt someone in the guise of jokes. there's a fine line between healthy banter and downright insulting someone and people should know to read the room enough to tell the difference between the two.

at the same time, i also know you can't always know when and how your words could hurt someone. as much as i wanna hate inarizaki volleyball club (and i acc do most of them), i also know most of them did care for tsumu and would've done something had tsumu told them whatever was happening.

there's sm i learnt while reading this fic and this is why this fic is always gonna have a special place in my heart. 😭❤️‍🩹

omg i really did not expect this review to be this long but i just needed to let it all out bc this book hit me so fucking hard. anyway bye, and srsly, if i ever hurt any of you by any of my comments, pls tell me 😔👍🏻
