Snowed in at Silver Mountain

Rate this book
She saved him. Now he will save her.

Rough around the edges, Pax had one saving grace in prison--Faith's letters. Unfortunately, her words were never meant for him, but for her brother. She has no idea he exists. Fresh out of prison, he vows to change... just not yet. Faith is in danger.

Faith is a naturalist and ranger at Silver Mountain. "Sublime" means both beauty and danger and she's surrounded by it on a daily basis. The breathtaking vistas are truly wonders from God, though its hard to live in such a solitary wilderness by herself, When trouble heads her way because of her brother's seedy past, Faith is dragged away by a man who says he's there to keep her from getting killed.

Does Faith have it in her to trust a brooding stranger? Goodness! He's sublime incarnate, isn't he? Apparently she's a sucker for his kind of beauty and danger, especially when her life... and heart depend on it.

Loved the Spiritual snapshots!!! Faith and Pax are both very interesting characters and together that make one beautiful couple - inside and out. Not only were they snowed in but they were trapped in a sense. A romantic mystery with suspense that kept me reading and on the edge of my seat. There is so much going on in this book and the author did an amazing job of weaving it all together. The epilogue was one of the best I have read in awhile.

This book had me on the edge of my couch. It was so full of mystery, secrets, intrigue, scary characters, deceit, and romance. I really enjoyed it and the characters too. I liked how strong Faith was as a character and with her faith. Faith's name was perfect because she gave Pax his faith and helped him turn his life around. She did this through her letters to her brother who was in jail and a cellmate of Pax. Her Spiritual Snapshots really changed his life for the better. Pax's name was perfect too because he was able to give Faith the peace that had eluded her life a long time ago. This was a great story about forgiveness, and being a better person. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns and how the story finally ended. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I loved Pax and Faith's story! You get action right from the beginning but I loved the reminders about how a celebrating a simple Christmas can be enjoyable. The story is also full of romance, redemption, suspense and much more. It's a great read, especially for Christmas time!

Faith has been trying to get a picture of a rare animal or bird so she can keep her job. Pax is just out of prison and Faith mistakes him for her relief. Pax is trying to keep Faith safe. Loved how Faith kept sharing her faith with her brother, hoping he would turn his life around. Sweet Romance that will pull at your heartstrings. Very well written story.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
She saved him. Now he will save her.

Rough around the edges, Pax had one saving grace in prison--Faith's letters. Unfortunately, her words were never meant for him, but for her brother. She has no idea he exists. Fresh out of prison, he vows to change... just not yet. Faith is in danger.

MY TAKE
What a captivating story! It caught and held me from the beginning. Both Pax and Faith are engaging characters who've been through some tough times. Pax, especially, has a lot of internal demons he's dealing with. While he now believe in God, he hasn't yet learned to believe Him, that Pax has done too much wrong in his life to ever be forgiven. Yes, this is an overtly Christian story. But even if you're not religious, it's still a compelling one. It's very much a story of redemption--and not just for Pax.

The romance is sweet. Pax fell in love with Faith through her letters to her brother when the two guys were cell mate in prison. Pax doesn't hesitate to come to help her when her brother asks him, even though it means breaking probation. Faith, a ranger, mistakes Pax for her replacement and immediately thinks he's cute. A snowstorm arrives and forces her to stay until it's over.

And then trouble arrives. What follows is a story of two people forced to flee under terrible conditions and who must face the bad guys and the weather. There's lots of excitement and also quiet times when Faith comes to know the truth about her brother's friend.

I found I was thinking about it when I woke and got up early to finish it. :)

This book is a great addition to the snowed in series.
Faith is a park ranger and loves what she does. Her brother is in prison for protecting her from someone intent on hurting her. While he is there she continually writes him letters with "spiritual snapshots". These include scriptures with her insight and feelings about them.
Jax is serving time, his cell mate is Jody. One day he picks up a discarded letter from Jody's sister. He is uplifted by the "spiritual snapshot" included. Then decides he needs to change his life to be a better man.
After Jax is released he gets a call from Jody that his sister is in danger and he immediately answers the call and goes to protect Faith. After finding her in a snow storm they are being chased by men who want to hurt them. They end up snowed in at a small cabin on the mountain. They build their relationship with trust and understanding.
When the snow lets up a bit they got to a friend and end up finding out who their real friends are.
This book has some good suspense as well.
I was given an ARC of this book, this review was left voluntarily. All opinions expressed are my own.

A Christian redemption story

Overall, this is an enjoyable story. There are a few details that made it difficult to fully immerse.

Mainly, Faith's rather over-the-top naiveté seems pretty unlikely with her upbringing. She would have been exposed to a whole lot of dishonesty in all its many varieties. And suppressing traumatic memories doesn't make you more trusting but less.

It also slows down in the middle to give their relationship the opportunity to develop. I'm sure a lot of romance lovers will enjoy their cozy time snowed in, but I must confess that I started feeling stir crazy myself wondering when the bad guys were going to catch up with them.

The religious aspect of the story is very much a part of things. The protagonists talk frequently about Scripture & what it means in their lives & how knowing Jesus has changed their lives. It's a bit more than what I'm used to, so a few places I just skimmed, but it's fairly credibly incorporated into the story.

*Romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

Exciting, God-filled story

Faith and an ex-con (sent by her brother for protection) are trapped together on a mountain with danger coming at them from all sides. They learn to love and trust one another, while relying on the Lord for strength and help. But the enemy is closer than they thought and their deaths look more imminent by the hour.
Pax and Faith were an interesting couple whom I admired. They'd both been through hard things and were still affected by those events, but they pushed through it and tried to make a new life for themselves. God's hand was shown throughout the book, not only in the small miracles, but in their discussions together and the development of their faith and acceptance of Him. I have loved the last few Fowers books I've read and this one was even better. A sweet romance with plenty of action, forgiveness, and swoon-worthy moments.

Snowed in at Silver Mountain

I really enjoyed this book. It has drama and danger. The “Spiritual Snapshots” are very thought provoking. Faith tries to live out her name. Pax is an ex convict who has come to give her protection from the guys her brother had angered. Will Pax be able to save her?

Loved it!

Pax and Faith were so cute together-- just the right amount of sizzle and banter, with an enjoyable story that I always know Stephanie will deliver with her books. The suspense had me holding my breath, and I liked that the story kept moving along at a nice pace, leaving plenty of time for the romance to spark. Loved it!

The good guys aren't always good and the bad guys aren't always bad. This book had so many twists and turns and great suspense.

It was interesting to learn with Faith the truth about her past. The romance was sweet and had more than one happily-ever-after.

Sublime
This story starts out very strong with some good suspense and lots of action. I felt that it got a bit long in the middle and the “Spiritual Snapshots” were a bit too frequent and preachy. Overall, I liked the story but felt it would’ve been a five star read if it had been more concise.

A definite 5 star!
I loved it!
It's written well, clean and wholesome, and holds one's attention. You'll come to care about the characters.
It's filled with romance, danger, and scriptural snapshots that helped me look at things differently in a good way.
I highly recommend it!

In any case, this isn't my cup of tea... the "religious" part of the story irritated me, and overall, the book seemed endless to me. I read the entire "Snowed In" series, but I don't click with Stephanie Fowers' books.
