Even growing roots in the darkest waters, the lotus produces the most beautiful flowers.

Five years after enduring a battle no one should ever have to fight, after having her soul shattered in all possible ways, Leah Jäger is still swimming. With her own business in full bloom, she juggles to balance between family, friends, and her role as the lead vocalist of Buried Alive, an up-and-coming German metal band.

Life is better than she had ever thought, but then the imposing and talented frontman of Dark Omen shows up at her door and turns her world upside down.

Metalhead Søren Wolff is lost in a spiral of apathy, wrestling with old memories he'd rather keep buried in the past. Surrounded by fame, praise, and the aftermath of their mistakes, the Norwegian band is struggling to stay afloat. So, finding a woman to stick around for more than one night is not part of the plan. Until beautiful and mysterious Leah rattles his mind.

She might not be ready to let her defenses down, yet, like a black hole, he pulls her into a gravity she can't escape. Music. Friendship. Attraction. They soon become entwined in a cloud of lust as passion and desire have rules of their own… Just like their demons and unhealed wounds.

Behind The Lights is book one in The Burn To Rise duet. Not sure how I stumbled upon this but I wanted to give the sample a try as I LOVE my Rock Star genre.
I ABSOLUTELY was floored by this book!! The writing was amazing and the characters pulled such feelings out of me. Our Main characters, Soren and Leah, I fell in love with from page one and oh what a connection they had from their first meet. Both lead singers in their own bands. His world famous and hers up and coming.
I have to mention the many side characters and their stories are so impactful in this story you will fall in love with them as well.
If you like the Rock Star genre please try this out.
It deserves so much more hype! Loved it and will definitely be in my FAVORITES!! This book ends on a cliffhanger so I’m diving into book two.
* I recommend checking trigger warnings.

L.A. Cannon makes their debut exposing the raw truths that lie hidden behind the lights, lending a voice to the silent battles against mental health and abuse fought by many in the darkness.

Like many, Leah and Soren were no strangers to this darkness or these battles. Theirs was an authentic tale that was handled maturely, their music the backing track to the beautiful, and at times haunting, dialogue and descriptions Cannon has presented. The slow burn and the use of dual POV allowed for a natural progression in the romance built, and the feelings and individual histories this allowed Cannon to explore contributed to the overall appeal of this story. I laughed at the quick tradition of their dirty joke greetings, felt the ache of their rough edged wounds still healing, cried for their battles, and melted at the sense of community and chemistry which burned through it all. I especially admired that while the romance was there, their stories weren’t solely dependant on this. Apart they grew and healed as much as they did together, and Cannon is to be commended on this deep focus they’ve maintained in their anthem for mental health.

As much as Leah and Soren took centre stage, their band of friends also played a vital role and I enjoyed the opportunities we had to get to know them all in a way that made them more relatable and human. Unfortunately, this did also present a couple of issues as I read . On several occasions, during scenes that called for a large body of characters, it was difficult to follow who was who and who was speaking, especially when there were similarities in names, or the dialogue tag identified the speaker by a descriptor (Eg. guitarist) and not a name.

A little on the longer side, Behind the Lights is to be savoured, it’s themes and artistic executions a performance to be felt and moved by. If you’re looking for an insightful read to fill your nights, and you love metal bands and life on the road, then I encourage you to give this book a go. Available now on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

TWs: Sexual abuse, domestic violence, and drug use.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

I’m an opinionated witch…

... who doesn't just give 5 stars to every book she reads.

To get 5 stars from me, you need to tick all of the boxes.
1) The book has to make me feel an array of emotions.
2) I need to be able to relate to characters to call a book 'good'.
3) The book has to have a deeper level, a message.
4) It has to be beautiful to look at.
5) And finally, I need to like the author as a person.

1) I cried, laughed, got angry, and got turned on. This book has absolutely every emotion in it and the author doesn't skim over them, she digs deep and makes you feel every single one along with the characters. If you want an emotional rollercoaster, this is it. I cried from laughter and from pain. The entire spectrum is felt through the words of this author.

2) I want to be Leah. I am Leah in a way. I learned more about myself and my journey in life by meeting Leah, by rooting for her. By having been where she was. Feeling so lost and worthless. Her rise is inspirational, full of hope. In spite of all the hurdles on her road, you can’t help but see her strength through all of it.

3) I can not explain this in words. It’s a feeling. A deep connection to the story. A relationship with the characters and through them with the author. It’s like she’s telling you to hang in there. That you’re stronger than you think you are. That there is love to be found in family that is not related to you by blood.

4) It’s one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever owned. From the cover to the start of the chapters. And the care for detail you feel on every page. To the playlist it comes with, the music the emotions are weaved with. It’s a total package. One that awakens all of your senses and pulls them into the wonderful world created in this book.

5) I already knew her a tiny bit before I started reading this book. Before I bought and read it again. And trust me, I didn’t read it just two times. ;) I fell in love with the author through the whole process of reading the book and getting to know her. She is the kind of person you want to succeed, you need to succeed. Her book needs to be read, loved, worshiped. Simply because of all the effort that went into getting this final result that’s for sale right here.

I am not here to convince you to buy this book because I am already convinced that it will find the right readers to resonate with. It will find those wrestling with the demons inside their head. They will feel seen, less alone, like a fighter. They will feel like they found a friend in L.A. Cannon. Because she is that kind of person.

(Arc reader review.)
I had the pleasure to read this book before it's release, and I can say it became one of my favorites really fast.
The writing style is unique, the third person pov is the hardest to achieve, but in my opinion the author aced it.
Although it's a romance book, it's not the centre of the story. It deals with with another topics like mental health, addiction and trauma.
The plot revolves around the music world, that is perfectly describe, from the concerts to the touring; so you can expect a lot of characters, friendships and hilarious scenes. But there's also heart break and some drama perfectly balanced.
The connection between the MC's is outstanding, and above all: real. In a slow burn that starts like a friendship, they grow and flourish into a intimate relationship that goes beyond physical.
In another words I love it, really enjoyed it and can't wait for the paperback to have it on my book shelf.

L.A. Cannon’s debut is a raw tale about darkness that lies behind the lights and the silent battles against mental health and abuse. This book is in third person dual perspective and combined with the writing it was quite unique.

The slow burn, the music, the dialogue, the beautiful and captivating descriptions. The characters are well-developed, authentic and realistic with all their flaws. The characters and their connection is fierce. The chemistry between them is eclectic.

The writing is poetic and heartbreakingly beautiful. The way Cannon has written about mental health, trauma, and addiction was very respectful and I appreciated how it was discussed. This book is more than a romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Behind the Lights

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A poetically written rockstar romance with a dark edge. Mental health, traumas and addictions are what this story is about. The romance is there, it’s not the main focus and I actually appreciated how L depicted this throughout the book.

Soren and Leah—two broken characters with their own personal struggles. I enjoyed their banter, their dynamic, and the angst was written in such a way that you couldn’t help but wanting to give both of them a long big hug..

An overall refreshing slow burn romance story with a little edge and I really enjoyed it!

First of all, the attention to detail in this book is outstanding! I was at the concerts, hearing the music and feeling the bass in my chest. Incredible. I fell in love with Soren and Leah, as well as their bands and friends. The story was well paced, perfectly edited and captivating throughout. I honestly cannot wait for book 2!

Thank you for such a gripping read with a compassionate, realistic and empathetic approach to trauma and mental health.

Behind the Lights is a rockstar romance, the debut novel of L.A. Cannon, and book one of the Burn to Rise duology.

It's a slow-burn romance, with Leah not being able to hold on to falling in love after a traumatic incident in her past. This is a book for anyone who does not want to read about violence because the first chapter is quite sad, even though it is not really graphic. However, as the story progresses, we do see how this affected her in the long run.

What I loved the most about this book is how much I fell in love with the characters. Even though on the surface they seem like people from a different world, when you peel back the layers, you see how relatable they are and how, even though everything seems perfect on the outside, they're struggling on the inside just like everyone else. To add to this, their struggles don't make up their personalities. Each character, be it Leah and Søren or the side characters, is multidimensional, which makes you even more engrossed in their story.

The book is definitely page-turning, with the story being slow-paced but with purpose. Usually, I'm not a fan of slow-paced books, but this felt different. It felt like with every chapter read, there was a purpose to what was happening, and the emotional roller coaster I went on was incredible.

The only negative I would like to point out is that in certain areas, the writing felt rushed. Like it was written by a different author, and while I don't think those are areas that need to be cut from the nook, they'll have to be revisited.

Overall, I loved book one, and since I've already read book two, I can't wait to share my thoughts on it with you soon!

You know when you finish a book and you want to shake the characters but also give them a big hug? That’s exactly what this story is. You get to fall in love with the main characters while also learning all about the side characters. It isn’t as singularly focused as a traditional romance but I loved it anyway. The on page steam is *chefs kiss*

4 stars is because of the amount of side characters and names that left me a bit confused at times with so many on the scene.

I can’t wait to see what comes next for these two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 𝔹𝕖𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕃𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤 𝕓𝕪 LA Cannon

This is my first book by LA Cannon and I really enjoyed it. I appreciate that topics like abuse, mental health, and even drug abuse, and PTSD is talked about.

Leah and Soren are both struggling with their own things. Their relationship is slow to build, even though their attraction was instant. They both struggle with a tortured past, so they’re hesitant to let the other in.

Be aware of the triggers warnings, but still highly recommend

I am so thankful that Beyond the Lights was recommended to me by a fellow reader. I finished off 2022 with this book one of the duet and could not be any happier.
If you enjoy romance books that revolved around musicians, then please, dive right into this masterpiece.

I thoroughly enjoyed the main characters (Leah & Søren) and each of their bands (Buried Alive & Dark Omen). We get to watch as relationship evolves and how their music could be a means of therapy from their broken pasts.
What I loved, was the strong friendships that had been formed with many of the characters. I felt comfortable while diving into their space and genuinely felt emotions for them during the days they would struggle.

Coming from an extremely abusive relationship, Leah, refuses to be a victim and I applaud her for being so strong after the horrors she had endured. I don't want to go any deeper into this because I want you to get the full effect from reading the book yourself.

Chris (Leah's best friend and band mate) was easy to love from the get-go. The epitome of a good friend- his dedication to Leah and their friendship. I love how he worked hard to help Leah see, that she deserved to have friends; that she was worthy. This is a message that spreads beyond this first book and into the second.

Yes, there were darker moments but I applaud L.A. Cannon for how everything was written and the care that went into these sensitive topics. I appreciate authors that bring mental health forward because so many of us find this material relatable. I have a personal connection with BPD and these parts were well-written - a good understanding of this difficult disorder.

Beyond the darkness, there were MANY incredible moments. The laughter, the undeniable passion between the Leah and Søren. The scenes between them were meaningful; I could feel how much they felt via the words on the page.

‘Her lips tasted like coffee and maple syrup, and felt much better than he had imagined. He kissed her softly at first, pecking, nipping, letting his fingers tangle in her hair, savoring her. But when her hands reached up to his neck, the primal need he had been repressing the entire afternoon unleashed.’

The jokes and banter throughout this book connected me to the characters; I’m a sucker for incredibly cheesy jokes and witty banter. But these little pieces were lovely to read and it made me feel closer to the characters.

“What do you call the method of masturbating while eating Oreos?” Her voice was inviting and low. Søren looked at her, confused. Why did any sex-related word sound so good rolling off her tongue? “What?” She grinned, maliciousness shining in her eyes. “Cookies and cream.”

I’m a huge fan of metal music and having both main characters be part of that world made this feel so real. From the tour aspects to the everyday band life, we really get a look inside what this world can be like. Little pieces of their lyrics were sprinkled in the book, so we could see the art we could not hear.

I felt a real connection to these characters – through the domestic violence, music, and many of the mental health aspects. A five star read for me.

ARC review.

I have absolutely no idea how to give justice to my feelings towards this book. This was such an AWESOME read!

This book is a gem. There was so much detailed work, so much angst, so much heartache, so much IMPROVEMENT! I cannot emphasis enough on how much I love love LOVE the development of characters and the romantic, as well as the other, relationships.

I was dying for Søren and Leah to get together but at the same time I was loving how they didn't rush into a relationship. I love how they became friends before becoming lovers.

Oh! How can I forget! The thing I love the most about this book is that there's no, "Oh I get triggered by everyone but him/her" trope. That is such an unrealistic thing and I love how realistic this book is, these relationships are. Leah rejected Søren, she wasn't comfortable with him just because he's someone she idealises in the music world. Søren never talked about his past just because he was turned on by her, or because she was becoming a friend. He only opened up when she became someone he started seeing himself with.

I love how they understood each other, I love how they got each other's back, how they gave each other their advises but never pushed the other. THE RESPECT I HAVE FOR THIS COUPLE! OH MY GOD! I LOVE THEM!

OH ALSO! I love love love love love how Søren never even thought about using his status to help Leah, how she never wanted his help. The respect they have for music, damnnnnn! Can I fall more in love????????

I read an ARC review on the author's Instagram where the reviewer said that they wanted the shake the characters, and bruh, same! That's why I love these characters so much because they're so effing RELATABLE! Like... Humans fuck up. And these characters? Yeah, they had so many moments when they took a wrong decision, so many times when I wanted to shake them, tell them something, and hug them. If that ain't relatable, I don't know what is.

This review is getting so long lmao but I cannot end it without these last two things.

I love the focus on mental health. There were so many times that the author talked about substance use, the aftereffects, the struggles of withdrawal, the traumas of the past... I swear I want to hug the characters, they're so precious 🥺🥺🥺

And last, the reason why I'm giving it 4.9 stars. I couldn't get into the book for the first 30% and that's entirely on me. 1) because it's a slowburn between friends and I was screaming in my head, "OH MY GOD, CAN YOU LIKE GET TOGETHER?! YOU GUYS ARE PERFECT!!! 😭" and 2) They talk a lot about Metal music, something I've never heard before. Ever. So it was a little hard for me to get into it because I didn't know about the bands or even some things about the concert because I've never really gotten to know the technical part of music.

But this is entirely because of me and I know for certain that whoever reads this book will love it because it's not just about the romance. Infact, it's more about family, friends, past, trauma and personal improvement. I love this book with the whole of my heart ♥️

I had the pleasure to read Behind the Lights by L.A. Cannon (Burn to Rise series, Vol 1) as an ARC and it was more than just worth it. Totally exceeded my expectations 💯.

🎸 rockstar romance
🎸 dark romance
🎸 slow burn
🎸 3rd person & Dual POV
🎸 mental health, PTSD, addiction

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.85 / 5

Tragic past of Leah and Søren influences their lives and the decisions they make, pushes them to be cautious around new people, waltzing into their lives. Flashbacks from their past allow us to understand these characters better and reveal what made them this way. Mental health, just like music are another main characters of this story and it truly only adds to its appeal.

The instant attraction between main characters is palpable, but the process of Leah and Søren getting closer is slow and well-paced. They admire and respect each other as professionals, become friends and only later they finally give in and let the passion lead them. Their banter, their messages and calls are everything. Even miles apart their relationship evolve and grow, strengthening their bond any time they have a chance to meet - opening up to each other, revealing secrets of their past and healing their wounds.

In overall, it was a great read and I can’t wait to see what happens with Leah and Søren in book two ❤️

Definitely a must read 💯

I have had the pleasure of reading both the original Inkitt version and an ARC of this book. I usually struggle to read a book more than once, but I enjoyed reading "Behind The Lights" both times. I even clapped and squealed the second time reading it, and can see myself reacting the same when I read it again.

Cannon's words string together like melodies, drawing you into their flow. The energy coming from the pages gave me chills. The concert scenes felt powerful and real, like I was watching them play out as I was reading. She had me as anxious and excited as the Buried Alive band members when waiting for the results of the Battle of the Bands to be revealed. On the other end of the spectrum, Cannon left me feeling haunted by the raw, emotional and vulnerable affects of the characters' pasts and their mental health.

The many relationships in this book felt real and necessary to the story. The book is as much a story about friendships as it is a romance. The side characters and the attention they get into developing their individual characteristics and roles add an extra layer of realism to this book.

Congratulations to L.A. Cannon on this beautifully written debut novel. I look forward to its duet and more of the story of Leah, Søren, their friends and bandmates.

Behind The Lights is an absolute stunning concert of emotions that explodes page after page. A visceral, moving, and uniquely unfiltered story that will rock your mind, your heart, and your soul....

Told through moments in time, the beginning of Soren and Leigh's story is one of beats and tempos with perfectly harmonized highs and lows. This story is a
journey that engulfs, grabs, and captivates. Making you feel and experience everything as you travel this road with these two characters. Their life, friendships, emotions, and actions. It's impossible to not become completely invested in these characters and this story. ...

Leigh Jäger is a force. As lead vocalist for the metal band Buried Alive she projects the illusion of a strong and confident badass metal queen. Yet, behind the lights you see how truly vulnerable and fragile she really is. The tightrope she walks from the dark and painful memories she can’t seem to escape....

Frontman of the Norwegian band Dark Omen, Søren Wolff gives the illusion as a man who is living his best life. His band is on top of the metal scene. He has money, praise, admiration, and women falling at his feet. Yet behind the lights, you find how truly lonely he is. A reclusive star trying to escape the ghosts of his past. An outsider in his own life who's dark and toxic memories haunt his dreams. ....

From the moment they meet, it seems as though an omen or fate brought Soren and Leigh together. Connecting them with an invisible thread that binds them. Both have demons that they try to keep at bay and struggle to not let the past define them. They awaken needs, feelings, and wants in each other that neither ever expected to. As friendship turns to lust and lust becomes something more....can they mend the broken pieces of thier souls and find love Behind The Lights....

This is an unbelievably addicting story that packs a punch. It hits hard because it reads as real life. Never have I been so affected by a story! It's powerful prologue wrecked and crushed me! It's ending completely shocked and devastated me! Emotional and moving....Humurous and witty...heavy and sad, this was one hell of a ride that I was more than happy to be a passenger on....

I cried, I laughed, I got angry, and every other emotion while reading Soren and Leigh's story. Although it dealt with some pretty dark and heavy subjects...each and every one was handled with care and was so incredibly well written. These characters and are truly embedded in my heart and soul.....

Although this book devastated me with it's bombshell and heartbreaking cliffhanger, I couldn't have loved it more! I am in DIRE NEED for the conclusion of Soren and Leigh's incredible story! This gal NEEDS THEIR HEA like I NEED AIR!!

Get this gem on your TBR NOW! It's an amazing story and one you won't soon forget! 😘❤️

This work is L.A.Cannon’s debut book. And I want to congratulate this girl on this book.

*The shortened opinion: Well-built characters, amazingly well-built world around the characters! The approach to mental health is just *wow*. It has everything - all the feels -, laughter, tears, anxiety and amazingly good smut!!!*

Now, on to the real review :
For me, it is an undiscovered masterpiece, so far. It can fit within a few genres, but I think the one that sticks out the most is the Literary Romance because this book is not 100% centred on two characters. This book is about life and everything that is part of it, thus it has a lot of side characters and minor events included. It’s detailed and it’s meaningful. It may seem unnecessary for some but to me, it adds so much MORE to the story!

And yet, Behind the Lights is a book that gives you all the feels, all the tears, all the anxiety as if you were one of the characters inside the book. It is about love, about living with trauma and the work oneself does to overcome it, it talks about the impact it has on one’s mental health and it also approaches other subjects like drug use and its consequences and sex. It’s realistic, raw and intense.

About the two MC’s and without spoiling the plot, Leah is such a strong and steadfast woman, intent on moving on and not letting a traumatic event take control over her life. While still being sensitive and still struggling, she doesn’t let it define her and keeps on pushing through, following her dreams and building THE life she wants and deserves.
Soren is a plagued man. The beginning of his life was dark and miserable and the demons make sure to accompany him thus far. Yet, he is capable of keeping them at bay and surviving through the day. L.A. Cannon shows very clearly how much it takes a toll on him and it moved me to the core.

In a way, both MC’s have struggles and demons haunting them but it’s amazing to see that they also have a safe network. By this I mean, the side characters. The friends who ARE family and are there with them every step of the way are just so good and realistic.

The fact that there’s a whole world and safe net created around the two MC’s makes them feel real to the reader. I love it because in our day-to-day life we’re not only about ourselves and our love interest. Our life is filled with family, friends, work and all in the in-betweens. For example, besides the two main characters, Chris, Alex AND Ian quickly became my favourites, for several reasons. Chris’ protective nature, Alex's troubled soul and Ian’s humour are just… *chef’s kiss*. All different personalities give so much to the book, in such different ways! By adding that to her book, L. A. Cannon made her characters human and relatable.

A Rock God Falls For A Rock Goddess

*This book touches some heavy issues. Make sure to check the TWs before jumping in.
**This book is written in third person, dual POVs.
***This book is book one of a duet, so it ends on a cliffhanger.

Now, onto the review. 5 freaking stars!

“The only thing that mattered when they were together was the incredible sensation of unlocking a hundred doors and undressing their souls, because in the confines of that remote corner of the world, behind the lights, they were free.”

“And just like she had pumped life back into him, she had taken it away, devastating everything in the most agonizing and beautiful way, making him understand why storms were named after people.“

This book isn’t just about the MMC and FMC, it has many side characters, and we get a lot of their backstory, as well as many scenes where they are all hanging out together. What this author does really well is include them all, building an entire world of music, life under the microscope of celebrity, tumultuous relationships, and learning how to live again. Each character has their own hardships and we get to experience all of them, not only from the perspectives of the main characters, but we almost get to experience what the side characters are feeling as well.

This story is rich with description and emotion through and through. The main characters are well-known musicians and the story takes place in many different cities, in many different locations. But at no point did I feel confused or whiplashed by the changes of scenery. This book is a slow, slow burn because for the first half, much of the MMC and FMC‘s relationship takes place long distance, but the tension between them is so electric it was enough to keep me holding on. Plus, who doesn’t love a good slow burn between two characters who have to overcome a lot to be with each other?

I cannot wait until the second book because I have to know where the story goes. I’ve fallen in love with the two main characters so much that I found myself hanging off of every word they spoke to each other. I highlighted quite a bit in this book because L.A. delivered some really poignant quotes. And the lyrics, oh Lord, the lyrics. There are some really beautiful quotes and lyrics in this book—my two favorite quotes are above.

All in all, this is a wonderful debut novel by L.A. Cannon! I cannot wait for the second book of the duet, but I also cannot wait to see where this author takes her career. I have a feeling this is just the beginning for her. 10/10 recommend this book!

An addicting slow burn full of emotions and promises.

Two tortured mains will meet and fall in love.. seen and reviewed a thousand times ? Not at all … LA Canon wrote and built a strong story, plot and romance that revolved around the music industry.

The romance has a slow build , with a progression of feelings that makes us believe in it. High angst , a lot of back and forth throughout the book, I’m going to be honest and say that I was a little annoyed sometimes. When we reached the sexy scenes LA Canon didn’t disappoint us.. it’s well written, descriptive, hot and full of emotions. I really enjoyed them.

She took good care of all her characters, so much that everyone had a important place and story in the book.. so much that sometimes they overshadowed a bit the mains characters, that’s the reason why the book lost a star for me. Some people will love all the details about the side characters lives.

Painful past very well written, she succeeded to make us feel all the emotions and struggles.. the end is …Made me wanna scream for not getting the sequel now ..

A beautifully written slow burn, rockstar romance. The writing style is unique. Few write in the third person narrative and I found that to be a wonderful change. This story is packed with a bunch of emotions. It’s so easy to fall in love with their character and wants to learn more about each and every side character. The novel touches on issues such as drugs, and mental health issues, and contains spicy sex scenes. The mental health issues are approached realistically. There’s a good balance between the more serious issues, romance, light-hearted moments, and steamy scenes that keep you wanting more.

The characters are written well. They feel real and lovable. It’s a great read. A book that makes you feel better about your own hardships in life.

If this book does not become a best seller I will be shocked!

I don't even know where to begin. This story is intense, it's raw and emotional, and so beautifully written!

L.A. Cannon has brought these characters to life. I was sucked into their world, I felt like I was there with them feeling every emotion. Their journey feels authentic and I can't wait to join them for the next leg.

The world building is beautiful, the characters development is incredible and the relationship dynamics are *chef kisses* 🤌🏼

Leah and Søren's story had me captivated. I have used every avalible minute of my day immersing myself into their lives. I can honestly say, these characters will never leave me.

I can not wait to have beyond the lights in my hands so I can immerse myself, once again into Leah's and Søren's world.

One of the best rockstar romance I've ever had pleasure in reading <3
Dive into Leah's world of good music, struggles and excellent friends.

Leah Jäger is more than a talented lead singer and best bandmate of her band. A woman who's trying to leave her past, thriving on her music and her friends. A woman who's been through hell and back, yet she's determined to fight her demons with her best friends by her side.

In comes Søren Wolff, a hotheaded metal head who's hell-bent on getting on her last nerve.

Yet, Leah is unbothered by him; correction, she tries to appear unbothered by the infamous metalhead.

Started of as friends, they finally gave into temptations. I LOVE slow burn but good Lord, their chemistry is off the charts and I wanted to smash their faces together (respectfully)!

I loved the author's way of writing style! So poetic and breathtaking!

A strong and gritty, and quite dark in places rockstar romance, Behind the Light is the first in a duet.

I've read many rockstar romances, and LA Cannon, has in my opinion managed to writebsomething that does not fall into the usual pattern or style, and is brilliant because of that.

Two lead singers, one in an established and very popular band, the other in an up and coming band. Behind the Lights follows the development of romance and friendship between the two bands and the lead singers, with the added complications of touring, living in different countries and past trauma.

A powerful and brilliant book with a few twists thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended... now knowing on immediately to book 2.

emotional rollercoaster 🖤

Oh my this book had me hooked. I’ll be honest I don’t do 3rd person POV. But this one idk it kept my attention and I enjoyed it a lot I couldn’t stop reading ha. Their chemistry, friendly banter, goofy texts & etc was entertaining. This is a slow burn but worth the wait. I seriously loved Søren and Leah so much. A lot of deep and sensitive convos and stuff. So definitely check triggers. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. Just saying. Can’t wait to read book 2. This does leave on cliff hanger.

One of the best rockstar romances I have ever read!

I have never enjoyed a rockstar romance novel as much as I did this one. Oh my Lord, I noticed the musical inspiration in the character descriptions and the chapter titles. The characters themselves and all the things they go through and overcoming the hardships of life. Man, I love this book. Leah is such a brave, strong, courageous woman and Soren is such a sweet man, and I just love them. I can't wait for the next book.
