About the author

Viktor Georgievich Odinokov (Russian: Виктор Георгиевич Одиноков) philologist and literary critic, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Literature of the XIX-XX centuries of the Faculty of Humanities of NSU.

In 1948 he graduated from the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical Institute in absentia with a degree in Russian language and literature.

Since 1949, he worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature at the Novosibirsk preschool pedagogical school, then taught at the Kuibyshev Teachers' Institute and the Novosibirsk Pedagogical Institute. He worked at NSU since 1962, from 1975 to 2008 he headed the Department of Literature.

Odinokov is known as an outstanding specialist in the study of Russian classical literature, its poetics and typology. His works enjoyed considerable authority in the scientific community, as evidenced by positive reviews and high citation of his works in both domestic and foreign scientific publications.

The development of Siberian literature owes much to Odinokov - he was one of the organizers of the publication of the fundamental work "Essays on Russian Literature in Siberia", which received worldwide fame. For many years Viktor Georgievich was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Siberian Lights", in which he supervised the departments of prose and criticism and himself appeared on the pages of periodicals as a literary and theater critic.

In addition, from 1965 to 1982, Odinokov dealt with the problems of higher education as part of the Head Council for Philological Sciences at the USSR Ministry of Higher Education. From 1983 to 1998, he read guest lectures at various universities in Russia and Europe.

Victor Odinokov is the author of 25 monographs and over 200 articles. Under his scientific supervision, 25 candidate and 5 doctoral dissertations were defended. Numerous students of Viktor Odinokov successfully work in Russian universities, as well as in universities in Europe, Asia and America.
