Isadora Moon is special because she's different. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire and she's a bit of both. Isadora is observing the night sky for a school project - her class is learning everything about space and she decides to look at the stars for inspiration. But wait, what is that? Through the telescope, Isadora spots a shooting star that falls to Earth!
After courageously finding the place where the star landed, Isadora discovers a new twinkling friend. Her name is Nova, she is a Glow Sprite and she is not supposed to be there. Even worse, Nova's moon kitten Pluto is lost and she needs Isadora's help to find him.
Between magical campfires, space lessons, moon cheese and a glowing sleepover, Isadora will need to use all her wits to help Nova finding Pluto before her new friend has to fly back to the stars. With irresistible pink and black artwork throughout by author/illustrator Harriet Muncaster and a totally unique heroine with an out-of-this-world family, this is a beautiful, charming, and funny series of first chapter books.
Perfect for fans of Claude, Dixie O'Day, and Squishy McFluff, Isadora Moon is the ideal choice for readers who want their magic and sparkle with a bit of bite!
Harriet Muncaster studied illustration at Norwich University College of the Arts before going on to get an MA in children’s book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. In creating the art for her first book for children, she was thrilled to have found a good outlet for her lifelong fascination with miniatures. She lives in Hertfordshire, England.
Isadora is here again! This time space! New friends! Cuteness!
I was so excited about the newest book! I mean that cover is just so pretty and I love that it is black instead of the normal white. And I just adored the glitter and the sparkles. Also it was going to be about space, and I love that!
In this one it is time for Isadora’s class to do a project. Something to do with space and I just loved how everyone had ideas already and that the teacher was OK with any project. I felt for Isadora, could understand that she wanted to think of something.. but didn’t want to copy her friends! But I knew she would figure something out, and I had a suspicion it may have to do with the new friend she is going to make!
Meet Nova! A Glow Sprite from space who is looking for her Moon Kitty named Pluto (yes, so cute to see it used as a cat’s name instead of the standard dog’s name). I just love how the girls instantly bond and how Isadora’s parents take her under their wing and help her find Pluto. It was just so sweet, though I had a laugh at how the dad was a bit grumbling, especially when a camping trip was deemed necessary. Haha, that guy really doesn’t like going for nature. XD Nova herself was a really fun character and I love learning more about her! I loved that she found that humans weren’t all too bad, I hope that Nova returns in next adventures and maybe makes more friends on Earth, that would be so sweet!
I had a bit of a laugh that the woman who was holding a presentation on space was called Astrid Luna. Now I wonder, is that her real name? Or did she think it was fun to just make it more fitting with what she does?
The illustrations were wonderful once again! Nova and Pluto’s designs were just perfection. So cute!
Just like all the Isadora books there are tons of fun activities in the back! From making s’mores to starry salt dough garland to a night light!
And there is even a preview for the next book! In which Isadora will meet the Tooth Fairy! I cannot wait for that one~ Maybe by the time this review comes up one of my libraries will have added it (it is a possibility given I am writing this in May).
All in all, a delightful sparkly book about space, about projects, about friendship, and more! I had so much fun reading it!
Found this one at the charity shop for only a pound (an absolute steal!) and before it goes in the school library, I got to read it. Violet is long past the Isadora Moon phase, but I still love each and every one of the books for the imaginative characters and settings, alongside everyday kid situations/problems. I loved Nova and Pluto in this one, the different space projects that Isadora and her friends made, and of course the amusing culture clash between Isadora’s parents during the camping scenario.
This is a perfect little read for any little girl at just over 100 pages. Full of magic. Meet Isadora half vampire half fairy. Join her on this magical space adventure where she meets another from the moon. Beautifully illustrated throughout. Easy reading. At the back is lots of activities to do and recipes to make. This is book 14 in a series but each read fine as Standalones. A fun read. A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend.
The 14th in Harriet Muncaster’s self-illustrated fantasy series for children aged 6+ sees half-fairy, half-vampire Isadora have a cute out-of-this-world encounter with an alien. I liked the relationship between Isadora and her dad (particularly her dad’s attitude to camping) and Luna’s nervousness around humans plus there are some fun activities for children to do when they’ve finished reading.
A lovely little read to inspire young minds, and especially friendly for dyslexia readers who can enjoy the magical tale of friendship, fantasy and so much more in this perfect length and beautifully illustrated story.
What more could you want for a child to do but read a book that bring light to their eyes and magic to their hearts.
Beautiful story, well written, good length to keep attention flowing, delightful characters. All the Isadora series we've read so far have been great - lovely bedtime stories for kids and adults alike.
Read this to my 2 year old and she loved it! It was our first attempt at a chapter book and she actually would fall asleep each night as we read a chapter. The illustrations are adorable and the activities at the end are also a bonus. super cute read for kiddos!
Isadora has a school project on space but she has no idea what she should do. While star gazing with her dad they see two falling stars, but find they are actually Glow Sprites, she befriends Nova who had lost Pluto her kitten.
This was such a creative idea I really loved that we got to meet another new character in this Isadora world, it made you really imagine what Nova’s Glistopia would look like. She was so magical and unique I really enjoyed the addition of her into the series.
It was really sweet that Isadora’s class was having an astronaut woman show up to talk to the class and that she knew the secret about the Glow Sprites and that helped make Isadora think of her school project.
A really unique book in the series and I loved the introduction to another new character in the world of Isadora Moon, we got some more beautiful pink illustrations showing us Nova in all her glowing glory.
Kirjastosta löytyi vielä englanniksi yksi satunnainen osa. Ehkä koska sarja on tässä kohtaa edennyt aika pitkälle, tässä kiinnitin huomiota erityisen upeisiin kuvituksiin.
