Only three of the tattooed skins that will lead to the hidden Ainu gold remain to be found. One of them belongs to an infamous serial killer stalking Sapporo’s back alleys, and Sugimoto means to find him before anyone else does. But with Hijikata’s group also on the hunt and Lt. Tsurumi and the 7th Division on the way, some forced alliances may be necessary. One thing is certain—only Asirpa has the key to solving the tattooed code!

I can’t believe I am now 5 volumes away from the end of this excellent series 😳. The 3 major groups in the story spend the book converging towards each other so this book is one for set-up which usually means fireworks will fly in the next one. That is not to say this wasn’t excellent, great character work and humour are found in every chapter.

Usami is so fucked up, he unsettles me with his every decision and method wtf. But also I realized how much I have missed Ushiyama and his brusque but predictable personality!! He’s such a highlight of this series, his mannerisms are great.

I always love seeing the eclectic groups Noda ends up making with such a large cast of characters! And we got lots of great facial expressions in this one with a convict that seeks to create disappointment in this volume.

I do want to suplex Oosawa though for planting weird little seeds of doubt in Asirpa, when she’s already balancing so much. He’s playing such shitty mind games with her!!

WILD volume, I love it sm. Usami is a full-blown psychopath, LOL. Also, my heart hurts so much for Ogata. Man, fuck you all. I believe GK would really be an entirely series if Ogata was hugged as a child or something.

I’m not sure why my interest is waning, especially with the series so close to its conclusion. Some of the characters are still as likable and unpredictable as ever, and I genuinely want the best possible ending for Asirpa and Sugimoto. But I find myself feeling disconnected from the story, and I think it’s partly due to the constant flipping of alliances. It’s hard to stay invested when the dynamics keep shifting so frequently, it feels chaotic at times.

The pacing in this volume was also a bit off. One moment, we’re lingering over discussions about plants and trees, and the next, we’re rushing through flashbacks meant to explain the motivations of various characters. It felt unbalanced, which made it harder for me to fully engage with the story.

I still want to see this series through to the end. I’ve come this far, and I’m holding onto hope that the final volumes will tie everything together in a satisfying way.

Usami is such an interesting character to me now. Obviously he'll probably always be known for all the semen stuff but the way he talks about the people in the division + ogata is fascinating. "everyone doesn't realized they're being used" or "he loves me the most" he can see the faults in everyone but I himself, i truly cant tell if he knows hes being used like the rest of the divison. Also the closer we get to Asirpa seeing all of the skins the crazier it gets for me, how she wont tell anyone what the code is, how she uses it to keep sugimoto near her its so awesome.

Team Sugimoto, Team Hijikata, and Team Tsurumi have converged on Sapporo looking for two more tattooed skins of murderers. They're all closing in on the location of the gold, the truth about Noppera-bo, and the futures they want to make happen. But first, they have to break the code, filter out the fakes, and avoid getting killed by the opposition.

Things are speeding up again. And one thing that's really nice is that Noda is still a master of maintaining the tensions between mystery and information so that there is enough mystery to wonder about how some people will act while still allowing enough information to be available to the reader to anticipate how others will interact with each other and look forward to it.

Who was that again... you can tell that I haven't read this in a while, because as they all go Jack the Ripper-hunting in Sapporo, the many many characters are a bit muddled. But it's very tense and had some good action scenes!

Easily one of the best volumes so far. The tension is ratcheted to explosive levels by the end. Wow! There is lots of great character development here too, and plenty of good fun. It is also really good to see Hijikata's group again

Going to savour every volume from here on out - Golden Kamuy ended in Japan earlier this week, but there'll be about a year before it's fully released in english. What a one of a kind masterpiece.

有爸爸情節的人好多,融入開膛手傑克的歷史,一點點宇佐美與尾形的過去,兩人頗為相似但表現出來又極為不同。
