I am a huge fan of both Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton. However, I am sorry to say I was really disappointed in this book. My frustration started in the opening chapters when Anahita doesn’t let her superiors know until the last ~30 minutes when the next bomb will go off….it was completely implausible. My annoyance increased with the numerous references to the previous administration which really detracted from my enjoyment of the book. With Hillary Clinton as a co-author, it is nearly impossible to not think she is referring to the Trump administration—as such, the references to how bad the previous administration was was from every possible angle and at every possible opportunity was petty and distracting. In the end, what could have been a 5 star book because of the exciting plot and Secretary of State Adam’s strong female character were spoiled by Hillary’s sour grapes.

Louise Penny, were you kidnapped and forced to write this book? It was mostly a good but terrifying read.

It was probably fun to hang out with the amazingly brilliant Hillary Clinton but I hope there won’t be a sequel! Maybe you’re bored with Gamache but your fans are not! We need to escape to Three Pines so please encourage Hillary to write her own terrifying mysteries.

Loved the plot and the characters. Got a little bogged down with some of the details.
Overall, exciting and a credit to the skills of both of these remarkable women.
Would love to read another of their collaborations.

Well written. MS Clinton adds her knowledge of the Secretary of State and Louise Penny makes the character come alive.
