Buttered Up is book one in the Friendsgiving Chronicles series by Mayra Statham. This is a short, sexy and oh so sweet instalove novella that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Lawson (Law) Lawrence is thirty four years old and is a police officer in Gratitude Peaks. After a long term relationship fizzled out, Law hasn’t seriously dated anyone else since. Hook ups only are all he wants. Until the night of Halloween when “she” walked in to the bar he was in. He couldn’t look away. And when his friends bet him he wouldn’t go over and get her phone number and a date, he proved them oh so wrong.
Marigold (Mari) Jiminez is twenty eight years old and is the new high school science teacher in Gratitude Peaks. She’s new in town. She knew as soon as she saw Gratitude Peaks that this is where she wanted to settle down. When she first saw Law in the bar, she felt the pull instantly. But he seemed way above her usual type. She couldn’t believe it when he came over to talk to her.
These two were so cute together. Mari is sure Law only wants one night and she’s just not cut out for that. But when he proclaims that she is it for him, she’s both thrilled and a little scared because this is moving so fast. I love instalove romance and this one was wonderful. It didn’t feature the season of Autumn as much as I hoped but enjoyed meeting this close knit group of friends and love their yearly Friendsgiving celebration. This is a story of finding your one and only love in the blink of an eye, and of found family. Book two is Zeke and his baker’s book in Drizzled Up.

I really love the cover, it's made me pick this book up in the first place, since I've never read anything by this author. I liked how they met (Halloween party, both in star trek costumes) and also the idea of a tight knit friend group. But the story was too much insta and over the top for my liking, even for a novella.

What a short and sweet and steamy read this was! Low on the angst, high on the Insta, just what I wanted.
This story takes place in the fall, including Halloween & Thanksgiving. So it’s a perfect read for this time of year.
I am a fan of insta-love and this quick story gave me what I needed. Lawson could not believe his eyes when Mari walked into the bar. Nor could he ignore that feeling in his chest. Was his heart fluttering? Yup. He just knew she was the one. When he finally made the move to talk to her, the sparks started and never stopped.
I also enjoyed meeting the other characters in this group of friends and I’d love to read their stories.
Buttered Up is my first read by this author and I look forward to reading more.

Buttered Up was a quick read featuring a romance set between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Lawson ‘Law’ Lawrence is not a forever kind of guy, he's more of a love 'em and leave 'em type. But when Law spots the new science teacher on Halloween, he's instantly smitten. And after his friend double dares him to talk to her, Law isn't about to back down. Marigold Jimenez planned to focus on her career for the next few years but Law has her questioning her choice. The connection between them is instantaneous but will it be enough to last a lifetime?
Buttered Up had the potential to be a really cute fall romance, but unfortunately I really disliked the hero. Law is overly possessive and way too over the top for my liking. He pretty much immediately "claims" her before he's even talked to her which I wasn't a fan of. Don't get me wrong, the steamy scenes are enjoyable, which is the only thing that kept this from being a 1 star, but that wasn't enough to make me overcome my dislike of Law. Add in the fact he's professing his love less than a week after meeting and this just wasn't for me.
Overall Buttered Up didn't work for me, but I liked the idea of a series of romances set around Thanksgiving.

I am giving this a 3.4 mainly just because I have read better romances. This was still super good tho Lawson is such a king like men need to read this a take notes. Being vulnerable is hot. Out with fuck boy in with caring boys. Loved reading it on Halloween yesterday since it was set at Halloween!!

I am falling in love with the group of friends in this series.
This is Lawson the law man and Marigold the school teacher's story. It is instant attraction at it's finest. A stolen moment, coordinating Halloween costumes and instant spark between this couple is setting the tone for this great short story!
Law is enthralled with the beautiful woman at the bar and when a friend gives him a dare to talk to her he does one better and talks, flirts, dances and connects with this beautiful woman. He just knows that if he doesn't go big he will be going home every night alone. He may not have known her long but he just knows.
Mari is captivated with Law and yes thinks he is too good to be true. He is saying all the right things. He is swoon worthy, handsome, funny and yes the full package.
This couple is sweet, sexy, romantic and low angst! Loved it!

Lawson sees the new science teacher, Mari when she comes to his friends bar for Halloween, dressed as a Star Trek character. He’s a police officer in their small town and is dressed as a Star Trek character too. Seeing his interest his friend double dog dare him to get her number and a date, to make the dare interesting they tell him they will donate to the Toys for Tots program at the police precinct. He goes to talk to her and they hit it off, Mari has a great sense of humor and thinks their bet is funny, to give his nosy friends something to talk about she asks him if he wants to leave with her. They go to his place and enjoy sexy times. They pretty much spend the whole week together and come date night she meets all his friends at the football game. They all accept her into their group. After the game they make Thanksgiving plans and Friendsgiving plans, they each confess their love and an epilogue with them at their Friendsgiving dinner. Ends sort of as a HFN, which I’m not a fan off but it seems we will get more of them in the other friends books.

I bought the book, well honestly due to the cover..lol. The is the first book I have read from this author. It was a quick read but for me it was over the top with the insta love 🤷🏻♀️

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Lawson meets Marigold at his friend's bar, The Salty Owl on Halloween night when she comes in dressed as a Trekkie the same with him. Lawson's friend Zeke double dog dares him to get Marigold's number and take her to the football game at the high school friday night. Lawson is a police officer and Marigold is a teacher. They spend a little time getting to know one another, then they find a corner table to sit at. Lawson tells Marigold that the double dog dare is if he gets her number and takes her to the game his friends will make a considerable donation to the toys for tots. Marigold asks Lawson to dance with her it's something he normally wouldn't do. Soon after Marigold is asking him if he wants to give his friends something more to talk about, she asks him if he wants to get out of here. Lawson takes Marigold to his car and they head to his place. Marigold asks Lawson to kiss her once they get to his place, but he tells her nothing will happened that she doesn't want to happen. Lawson tells Marigold this is different with him, he hasn't been with anyone in a while but he can feel something for her. Lawson tells her he's going to take her on a week worth of dates before Friday night comes. When they get to Lawson's place Marigold tells him to show her his bedroom. Lawson pleasures Marigold, they make love. Lawson tells Marigold she's his he doesn't think he could live without her. Marigold and Lawson spend the weekend together. When Lawson goes back to his apartment he shares with Zeke he finds him in his recliner. Zeke asks him how he knows Marigold is the one. Lawson tells Zeke he know the moment he seen her walk into the bar. Lawson takes Marigold to the Friday night football game, she enjoys herself. With Lawson's friends, Zeke, Hawk, Tillie, and Nova at the game they talk about their Friendsgiving and he tells Marigold she'll be coming. Marigold tells him this is a friend's thing. Lawson tells her she's part of their group, but she tells him they've known each other a long time. Lawson tells her she's coming then tells her she'll be coming with him to Zeke's parents for Thanksgiving. Lawson and Marigold both don't have any family near by. On the way home they decide they want to go apple picking since Halloween is over and they can't get a pumpkin. Lawson tells Marigold he loves her, then she tells him she loves him. The Saturday after Thanksgiving, they all gather at Hawk's place. They made Marigold feel welcome like she's part of them despite having just met. First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Buttered up is the first book in the ‘’friends giving chronicles’’ series/collection.
This book is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Law isn’t looking for love but as soon as he sees Mari, he wants her. Mari has just moved to gratitude falls. When Law makes a move will Mari take a chance on love?
The chemistry between Lawson and Mari is clear to see and I liked them together.
I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from this series.

Loved it
This is the first in I hope along series. This is about Marigolds and Lawson. He sees her and that's it for uh I'm. She's it for him. Their story is full of fun and love and I love the way they just fit together. There's a whole group who get together weekly and last one there buys the first round. Absolutely adorable!
Mayra Statham has quickly become my favorite novella author. This one is just adorable! The banter between friends, the chemistry she developed so quickly between Mari and Law. The friends-this book is the total package. I LOVED it and cannot wait to read the rest of this series

This was a quick read that I did love. Law and Mari are an adorable couple. I love how both use their full names only with each other. This is an insta love story that just gets better as each page goes by. I already am looking up book 2.
