This book is so unique and intriguing. Every chapter had me hooked all over again, and I simply couldn’t put it down until I’d finished. This author really knows how to pull the characters emotions out just for the readers to feel as if we were right there experiencing it with them. I have ALWAYS loved fantasy fiction, especially involving witches and magic, but nothing I’ve ever read was remotely similar to this story. I genuinely cannot wait to see what’s coming next for this coven in the series.
This book is set in modern day Salem, Massachusetts. However, the mmc (Jonas) is stuck in 1692 in a small village called Hallows End just outside of Salem. He and his coven placed a curse on their village over 300 years prior, to protect themselves from the impending doom of the witch trials happening all over the US. The curse was supposed to be broken after a few years, but that didn’t happen. They repeat the month of October every single month, and they all reset with the new moon, except for Jonas. Only he remembers the curse, only he knows how much time has passed, and only he can move between worlds. During this time moving between modern day Salem, and his home in Hallows End, he meets Lucy. Lucy is one of three cousins in a coven of witches in Salem. Lucy is a green witch, Breena is a hearth witch, and Lorelei is a sea witch who just moved home after years away. Turns out, Lucy is Jonas’ soul mate. However, all is not well. Something sinister is happening in Salem right before All Hallow’s Eve. Something, or someone, wants Lucy and her cousins dead. It already got Lucy’s mother, and at least one witch every year prior, will it get to them as well? Or will the coven finally be strong enough with Jonas to help, that they can protect the lives of the witches and break this curse for good? Strange things have been happening back in Hallow’s End as well, and Lucy thinks Jonas should be spending more time there to help his village. Jonas disagrees, and it seems there’s no changing his mind.
“That if it came down to it, you wouldn’t be the one I’d choose, over and over again? What is the new term? Ah, yes. F*** that, Lucy. You are my priority, and you will be until the day I finally get to die.”
Will they ever break this curse, or will the newly matched soul mates be forced to part right after they’ve found one another? I can’t wait to find out.
