Lieutenant Braddock is a hotshot P-38 Pilot fresh out of training. He dreams of joining the growing list of Ace pilots in the Pacific theater, but he's assigned to a ground support role - making his dreams nearly impossible. But there is a way forward - but is it worth the price? This is an action-packed WWII short story - dig in!
This WWII short story follows a P38 Lightning pilot who is assigned to providing ground support rather than doing aerial combat. Without going into detail and spoiling a short story that I found it be very entertaining this is a very good story that follows the pilot’s growth in learning what was truly important. This is my second story by Chris Glatte and I can say without a doubt, it won’t be my last. If you enjoy WWII stories about the Pacific war, this is worth the time to read.
I've read several by this author and thoroughly enjoyed each one. It is dramatic easy to follow air combat in the southwest Pacific with a good nod to the ground pounders. I highly recommend this and his other works. I'm going to start another in a few minutes.
Coming of age, for a young, hotshot P-38 pilot. He learns the cost of doing business, and going for that which is most important, rather than what is the glory that some men seek. A well worth read!
For anyone reading wwii books about flying will enjoy this book. It shows what pilots go through and what greatful troops on the ground go through. Peter Korth
