Named “Best Mountain Man Series” by True West Magazine, author Lane R. Warenski delivers another wild ride through the west.
It was just a week of travel to reach where Horse Creek met the upper Green River, the site of this year’s Rendezvous. The summer of 1835 had already been full of surprises for “Grizzly Killer” Zach Connors, along with his friends and family. Their departure for Rendezvous was delayed by a prolonged summer storm and the arrival of a man they call Scarecrow: a confused Irish prospector who believed he was led there by his imaginary friends… the wee little people. Ancient enemies and a devastating wildfire along the way make their journey a dangerous and deadly adventure.
“Warenski does a fabulous job of recreating the life, danger, beauty, and heroism of the Western mountain man.” —advanced reader
Grizzly Killer: Scarecrow is the 14th book in the best-selling, action-packed Grizzly Killer Series.
Lane R Warenski lives in a log home in Duchesne County, Utah, where he has an unrestricted view of the highest peaks in the mighty Uinta Mountains. Warenski was raised being proud of his pioneer heritage and with a deep love and respect of the outdoors. Ever since childhood, following his father, Lane R Warenski has hunted, fished, and camped the mountains of the West. Whether it was the daily journals of William Ashley and Jedediah Smith or the fictional stories written by the great storytellers like Louis L’Amour and Terry C. Johnston, throughout his life, Warenski loves reading the history of the first explorers that came west, most of whom never dreamed they were opening this wild and rugged land to the pioneers and settlers that followed.
Just didn't think Grizzly could get any better, but this ongoing series of events just did!
Most definitely another five star masterpiece by one of my favorite authors, as Grizzly Killer brings a few more into his fold of friends and family members! No slow downs in this compassionately motivated story of unending exciting adventures, and just when you feel it is slowing down, Texas excitement only intensifies! Don't want to give you too much info, as you need to follow the exciting excursions, and enjoy the results! Outstanding storylines from beginning to end, with plenty of unending exciting adventures, as this group of preserving frontiersmen, and women, will grab your undivided attention immediately and never falters throughout the series book. Too, the character selections were unsurpassed in their commanding assignments from beginning to end, and their commanding assignments are unsurpassed in their respective assignments throughout the entire series of unending excitement! Definitely recommend this compassionately heartwarming story to all readers, regardless of your reading pleasure, as you will find yourselves completely engrossed within the first few pages of this compelling series of unending excitement! I especially urge you non-western enthusiasts to follow Grizzly Killer, and his associates, as their camaraderie will certainly appease your innermost feelings cover to cover!!!😃
I waited for months for the release of this book and had planned on savoring each and every word so that this reason experience would last as long as possible. Well, once again this author captured me and carried me away with his wonderful characters, old friends by now,and with the new acquaintances, now friends. Another roller coaster ride in each chapter slowly bringing this constant reader up in suspense and over the hill as if I was in the book along with the characters. I could not stop reading. I had to continue on this wonderful adventure this author lured me to join. Alas, the book is over teasing me with the next adventure which is surely coming. I truly envy those readers who have not begun reading Grizzly Killer. You are in for the read of your life. Enjoy!
Another great book in the Grizzly Killer series. I have read all 14 books in this series and am looking forward to next book. The stories are so well written that once I start reading, I can't put book down until I am finished. Lane R. Warenski is a Master Storyteller and you won't be disappointed when you read his books. Hoping the series continues because I enjoy reading about Grizzly Killer and his family and friends.
Lane Warenski – Grizzly Killer Bk 14 – Scarecrow – Reviewed 1/18/22 – Read 1/16/22
The little people visit Grizzly Killer’s village in the form of an older man.
In the summer of 1835, Grizzly Killer and his family are starting to prepare for the journey to the Rendezvous to buy their supplies for the coming year and visit with friends and family. Grub and Running Wolf and his 6-year old son, Gray Wolf, left the village to replenish their fresh meat; on the way back, they came upon an unusual sight, an older man was dancing with a small pine tree and singing up a storm. They realized that the older man was missing a few marbles but could not figure out how he could be where he was and be all alone.
Running Wolf backtracked some on the old man’s trail while Grub stayed and watched over him. As skinny and dirty as he was, clothed in tattered clothing, Grub decided that until he could get the old man to give up his name, he would call him “Scarecrow” as was fitting of his sight. The only thing Grub could get out of him was that he was following the little people under the direction of someone called Mr. Donohue while searching for gold, and the story begins.
Join the village of Grizzly Killer as they experience many dangers, a visit from the little people, and some surprises at Rendezvous…
What did I like? It’s a pleasure to read another one of Grizzly Killers’ adventures; I certainly have missed him. Having some Irish in my bloodline, it was fun reading about the antics of the little people.
What will you like? Holy cow, this one is filled with a ton of surprises and action. The mystery of “Scarecrow” and the head hunters from New Orleans, a wildfire, and so much more. The characters are so endearing, with the family growing and sharing their love, the storyline so well written and filled with love and mystery as only Lane can do. You sure don’t want to miss adding this one to your library. Lane Warenski’s fourteenth book in the Grizzly Killer series, “Scarecrow,” is available NOW!!!
Imagine a thin man, wandering, a bit crazy and singing Irish tunes, found in the wilderness! He talked of fairies, little people and magic. He said he heard them talk but with all this fantasy about the man, he loved and cared for his animals. Grizzly Killer, Zach Connors, didn't understand him and wondered how he had come all this way into the mountains, alone and talking like a man set by demons. The trip to Rendezvous this year was dangerous, threatening and then there was a fire that burned nearly everything. No lives were lost but medicines, ammo and tepees were destroyed. I'm totally enjoying these stories and can hardly wait to read on.
Another superbly written Warenski story. Each one somehow seems even better than the last. I don't know how he does it but each of his tales are just so good, entertaining and hard to put down that it's hard to believe any one man can write such awesome stories! If you like westerns/mountain man stories, you have to read this one! Just superb! I heartily recommend it!
Another story of development of early America! Trials, tribulations, courage, tenacity, striving to become independent, for all who honor all people, wilderness, earth as it is found! Lane again gives us insight of early America! Always interjecting adventures that are met with courage, loyalty, family, and tenacity! Thanks again Lane, For your prose!
Yet another book that keeps you spellbou nd. You want to keep reading from start to finish. Warenski knows how to draw you I to the story and hold you there, through happiness, sadness, and heart pounding suspense. Love these books can't wait for the next one in the series.
Zach's small village kept growing when Cabe and Jenny showed up with their friends Toby and Letty whom Cabe had rescued Toby from a beating and possibly being killed by a Slavier. Scarecrow joined later when he showed up talking to the trees and animals. Enjoy this book and found it hard to put it down.
I have read every book in the Grizzly Killer series and I highly recommend the entire series! The characters are interesting as are the plots and the culture historically accurate. I am looking forward to the next book in the Grizzly Killer series.
Wow, is about all I can say. This is probably one of the greatest mountain man series I have read. I could not put it down waiting to see what happens next. Love the writer and can not wait for the next book. I highly recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys mountain men books
Simple, truthful, honest, well written, beautiful people with good intentions and the knowledge and experience to make it all work. I would love to have lived back then. Just loved it.
As usual Mr. Warenski has written a wonderful story about Grizzly Killer and his family and friends. Good versus evil and good wins every time. Am looking forward to the next one.
Book 14 has lots of action. Rousseau sends two of his Slave Masters West to kill Gabe and Jenny and capture Toby and Lettie and return them back to him. A wild fire nearly kills wiped out part of Grizzly Killer's family.
Mr Warenski has given me the best look at what life in those days were like. I didn't play any games or start any other books until I read all 15. Thank you Sir. God has given you a great talent, please keep using it. God
I loved this one, and just as I was recovering and enjoying the yellow cottonwood leaves I was blown away with the ending! Not going to get any art work nor blanket making done today! What great writing!
This book like the rest of the series it's very well written And And like the rest of the books in the series It keeps you thinking about what is gonna happen next you cannot put the book down once you start reading you can't wait for the other books
This is a good book with a very good story line about an old man who people think is crazy, because he talks to trees, animals, and birds, and also dances with a tree.
I’ve read all of the grizzly killer books, many more than once, and I find them wonderful. The descriptions of the scenery in the mountains, the difficult lifestyle, the perseverance of trappers and pioneers are super inspiring. We need more heroes like Grizzly killer! And more books just like this from Lane Warenski! Waiting for the next one!
Grizzly killer and his extended family fight native Americans, suffer the loss of most of their possessions by fire, deal with slave catchers, and prepare for another winter in the Rocky Mountains. Hurry with the next book, please!
