I'm reading the manhwa, but there isn't an option to show that here, and anyways I'm sort of embarrassed to show half the shit I read on the internet, so if I ever finish a really good web novel\ comic, I'll write it down here. But otherwise, I don't want people to know the 5000 awful isekai stories I read. That's the last thing I want people to know about me sjkladfljksalfs....
Let me tell you, it's one heck of a messed-up tale, like getting lost in a maze where every twist and turn draws you deeper into its captivating chaos. But here's the thing—it's not just a typical reincarnation love story. No, it's more about darkness, finding a way to break free from the shadows of a troubled past, and carving out a path towards independence. And at the center of it all? A pair so mismatched, I can't help but root for their unlikely bond.
I read the manhwa version titled “I failed to oust villain away”. It’s really dark story where all characters almost having mental illness, especially the obsession of love. The story was well-written and well-developed characters. I felt the coldness, the thrilling, the sadness, the humor, the cuteness, and the happiness which flowed naturally. From the dark in the beginning to the light in the ending was described perfectly.
Both the ml (Reinhart) and fl (Valleta) had mental illness which they had same character due to spend their time and the abuse together since childhood. Their mind wasn’t normal, but somehow they become very great and understanding companion for each other. They really made a great couple.
Oh, I had to say thank you to Duke Carmon and Duke Dooke who were genuinely kind and love FL. One of reason that Fl could be ‘human’ again.
This story was really great and overwhelming. The real dark theme story. You know the first side story told about Fl and ml in another universe, and it was also dark. Really unbelievable. Hahaha. Stand applause for the author. 👏👏
It's giving "I lost the leash of the male yandere lead", but the male lead is a serial killer and the female lead actually has a personality and does things to help the male lead when he's being abused. The plot is so good and you can see the male lead's character slowly hit a breaking point and he's obsession with the female lead makes sense. With the trauma he went to and the abandonment issues he seems to clearly have, he needs someone to stay with him, everyone there for him, and a girl that plays hard to get matches perfectly with his needs. The female lead is actually clever, but she's actually like a bit of a villianess too. She's cold and with the power she has, she does what she can. Read this all in a day so fun to binge and need a second season.
So 3.5 stars

i’m reading the manhwa as we speak, but because of how chapter 101 ended, i felt an URGENT need to immediately read the next chapter… but alas, i was unable to do so, given that the raws haven’t even been released yet. so, in order to sate my horny curiosity, i tracked down the original novel (in korean) and browsed through the last… like, 80 chapters or something of the like. bro, i just HAD to. i couldn’t deal with having to wait A. WHOLE. DAMN. WEEK (!!!) to learn whether they’d end up fucking or not. i’m such a freak, help.🥲 ugh, i’m so weak for hot yandere male leads. (ONLY the fictional kind, though!) reinhardt is one of my absolute favorite yandere love interests. he’s such a fucking psycho, i love it.
anyway. they DID, in fact, end up fucking. therefore, i’m satisfied. <33 ended up sticking around for the remainder of the story, too, lol!

also, the following is my commentary for the manhwa that’s yet to be finished: “this is so, so dark, man… i’m wholly enthralled, not gonna lie. loving every aspect of this!!! (and yes, that includes reinhart—as well as his psychopathic tendencies.) god, these broken people… there are some truly complex, twisted individuals and relationships in this story. i genuinely didn’t expect something this raw and gruesome when i first got here, but i’m enjoying myself nonetheless! it’s… ‘refreshing’, in a weird kind of way. you never know what to expect. i’m looking forward to reading more!”

This is my record of reading the manwha adaptation.
Great premise, stumbles a bit but regains its footing, stumbles a bit more but is clearly having fun, stumbles, stumbles, stumbles... ends on a note (each time!) I can only describe as "icky."
This series is five whole novels and the manwha is one hundred and twenty chapters total: I can absolutely believe a lot of details were lost in condensing the story from one form to another. But also: this story just... doesn't do the work of unpacking its fascinating premise, and although it feints in the direction of psychological complexity, It's creepy.
I'm bummed out, because I love truly unhinged love interests, but only when I can, for lack of a better description, see the math: why they're unhinged or why their unhinged behavior is actually kind of hot to the recipient. This feels more like an example of someone kinking on the unhinged, obsessive dynamic but failing to build a believable story or compelling characters to carry the weight of it. My disbelief is not suspended; it clanked heavily with every step.
Despite the layering of zombies, tyrants, alchemy, and power struggles this work looks at the ramifications of abuse and trauma in a rather realistic way. Not all broken things can be repaired and others don't go to plan even when the violence stops. In that way, this is a rather interesting project--apart from the typical transmigrator revenge tales. However, it is not often enjoyable and in fact can be rather frustrating. Bad people have been doing bad things for years and little is done to stop them. Women are held hostage and mutilated if they don't profess enough love to their tormentors. Cats and small animals are murdered in front of children. Many characters are unredeemable. Our leads do what they must to survive lunatics but their codependency is not really healthy or cathartic. The perspective is also unreliable as it involves dreams and the interpretation of our narrator, Valetta. In the right mood or with certain expectations I see why this one has a lot of fans.

Read the manwha version of this some days ago but just now was able to find some version here on goodreads. I have a bit of conflicted feelings - on one side, I absolutely devoured it, the art style in the second half was gorgeous and I very much liked the way the abuse the main characters suffered actually have long term consequences on the way they think and interact with others. On the other side, the art was kinda funky at the beginning, and the pacing felt a bit off sometimes. There were moments in which some parts would drag on, and I wasn't really interested o what was happening, and other times when something really important for the plot was going on and it was just like "and then this happened" without much building up or explanation.
At the end I did have a good time tho so I consider this a win
The main characters' story was well developed, but the secondary characters, in this case, the Emperor, Lagris and Elisa, were not. I honestly wish Lagris, Elisa and their son had had a happy ending. I didn't understand why Valetta said those things to the crown prince at the end, but when the main story ends and you read the secondary story, you understand that the crown prince is as bad as his father. The part about Lesir and Lost makes it clear how the author wanted to continue, but I don't know if there was really a need to create that. I think the author could have gone another way or created something else. The main characters' story goes up to chapter 109, the following chapters are secondary (about the main characters in a different universe).

Well this was just continuously interesting. With there always being something next yet it didn't feel like a run on plot with no theme. The story line was solid and rather simple. However with new events and characters it didn't get boring or overly elaborate. The characters were good but I have to say the real villain was the weakest character. At least for where is motives. Rein felt much more believable and he was a terrible person. As for the relationship between Valletta and Rein, that is a relationship I have never seen before! It was weird, obviously unhealthy at times yet very solid. Something most romances don't have. It was a wonderful way to write a weird romance!
"After saying all that, I now realise how twisted I am. I wonder if I'll be able to find my peace before I die. For some reason, the more I struggle to live a normal life, the more I feel like I'm sinking further away from normalcy."
Good start but felt it fell off a bit towards the end, but the author's portrayal of trauma in Valeta and the loveable side characters (except the prince) are so special to me.
was addicted to this for 1 week straight then the romance took forever so kinda dropped it but i love the silver haired psycho MC vibes and i like the FL too just too impatient so i will put it on hold for now seen enough onto the next i guess
I'm counting this as my read of the manhwa. Unfortunately, I didn't like the FL, she was too passive for me. I understand the abuse she went through messed her up but still.
Manhwa - Season 1: Ch. 1 to 44 Season 2: Ch. 45 to 74 (I just can't stop reading. I really like their dynamics) Season 3: Ch. 75 to 109 ~ End of main story
