Halloween 2022 Read #11

"Running or dying; those were her options."

The story begins in a tense and emotionally heavy scene. Things quickly escalate, and then, they plunge into a world of supernatural that will give you goosebumps.

I won't be forgetting this story any time soon. It hit on some heavy emotions, poignant situations, and deadly people. A definite page-turner.

I picked this book up with absolutely no idea what to expect after seeing a comment from the author in a Facebook group didn't even read the blurb so I went in pretty much blind, I'm glad I did because Parker, John and Ethan were worth spending a few hours with and I love me a not quite clear cut ending.

It's a roller coaster of a story which starts on a very tense and heavy scene and which features an interesting monster, ghosts, a guy who can handle rejection nicely and a splash of psychological horror, I don't know what else to tell you if that doesn't sell it for you!

For the ace/sex-repulsed in the room: there is a bit of not very descriptive sex which you could probably skim without losing much of the story and TW for somewhat descriptive SA.

Perception is a very captivating book, I couldn’t put it down. I barely took a break while reading it (took me one day !). There are parts of the book that will give you goosebumps but that is what makes the story so good. I really liked the personality of the main character Parker. From the beginning I was able to relate to her experiences and feelings. Simultaneously I couldn’t anticipate what was going to happen next. It’s really important to enjoy such a story on an important, current topic. (Plus this story is mainly based in Boston, one of the most incredible city the world.)

I was a beta reader and might be a little biased, but I really loved the book and the themes it touched on, with some being very real and serious. The characters are well written and believable and the story surprised me more than once in a good way. For a first novel it is a strong start and I am looking forward to reading more from Amélia!

It is a suspense that keeps you intrigued and wanting to see what happens next. Filled with complex emotions that is realistic, even relatable. The description of the "bad guy" is terrifying, yet it left a lot to my imagination, which I prefer with horror and fantasy books! It is an easy read, and enjoyable at the same time. Highly recommend!

This story is delightfully disturbing in the best way. It pushes the limits of your comfort level without going over the edge. The story is very creative and touches on several different points. Favorite character is Jonathan because he represents everything you want in a person. The ending is great because it gives you closure with the possibility of a second book.

The 1st time I read an English book and I'm sure I'll always remember it! It's a great book that I was completely sucked into. The tension, the way it's written, the way everything is described down to the smallest details... Simply amazing!

shape shifting Yuch

This book was so interesting in the beginning but then it got crazy unreal and I almost returned the book. I kept reading and couldn’t stop as the story became deadly. Shew! This was a great story.

I read a lot...and this book had me hooked from the start.
Parker was a superhero...with everything she had to go through, she was stronger than most.
Loved the characters. Hated the villain. Loved the read!

I don’t typically read supernatural or horror stories so this one was a little out of my preferred genre choices. But it was indeed a good story that kept me reading to find out what happens next.

Wow! What a ride! This is what I would consider a slightly dark psychic paranormal horror. The story draws you in right away and holds you there until the end! Great read!!
