Catching the Eden Killer earned Haley Perez her detective’s badge—and plenty of angst from her fellow, more experienced, detectives. With her mentor, Marvin Richards, now retired, Perez must rely on her own instincts when the body of a woman is found frozen to death in the forest near Ravenwood, with her eyes gouged out.
But, that’s the least of Haley’s problems; she has a deadly, new admirer. Someone claiming to be the Eden Killer’s mentor, is stalking her.
Then there are the women of Mill Point Road; Becca, Paige, Maggie and Sabine, as well as a new, mysterious neighbor who has recently moved in. Old secrets will be revealed, new secrets will emerge, and staying friends may prove to be lethal.
With the help of Annabel Chandler, a county forensic investigator, Haley Perez follows the trail of this new, cruel, and sadistic killer who is roaming the snow-covered streets in search of their next victim.
Winter isn’t the only brutally chilling thing to arrive in Ravenwood.

We enter Ravenwood, such a homey little town, with quaint stores and lovely little streets, with houses that look so peaceful. But as we become friendly with everyone in town, there seems to be something deeply rooted beneath their feet. Something that they all know about, but hide, a secrecy that is evil itself, dark and disturbing. Detective Haley Perez is back, patrolling the streets, keeping an eye on all that is happening. Meanwhile there is someone watching Her very closely, someone with blood on his hands and evil in his heart, and black roses to those he thinks worthy of going against him. She was able to catch the 'Eden Killer', now the master takes over... A woman is found frozen, with her eyes gouged out. There is still something going on with those who remain living on Mill Point Road. Staying friends with some proves lethal, and new strangers love to move here, away from any trouble they have caused before. Small town equals small police force equals less chance to be caught. So welcome to Ravenwood, be prepared for Everything... A story that continues, people you fear, like and look away from in a book that keeps you involved in a life far away. Read if you dare!
A sterling writer of suspenseful thrillers, J.K. Ellem doesn’t shy away from the dark side. In the sequel to Mill Point Road, he returns readers to the gated community on Mill Point Road in Ravenwood, Maryland – in an outstanding well-plotted and disturbing psychological thriller set during a chilling winter. It’s a nail-biting, nerve-shredder that will keep you on pins and needles through page after page.
A year after the Eden Killer was caught and brought to justice, Detective Marvin Richards, seasoned veteran New York City detective has retired to a cabin in the woods, and sharp-witted and tough Haley Perez has been promoted to Detective. But when she receives black roses along with a letter from “Your Admirer,” that stirs up another can of worms and sends her into the woods seeking advice from her former mentor. Detective Richards has a box full of evidence he turns over to her – evidence that may or may not have been checked out through proper channels, along with some wise lessons on "fishing."
And just when you think it can’t get any worse, it will. THEY’RE BAAAAACK – those crazy women who live on Mill Point Road return with another minefield of lies and secrets begging to be uncovered. And an intriguing new neighbor joins the group when she moves into the recently vacated #10 Mill Point Road, amping up the tension and uneasiness when the twists and turns keep on coming.
Ravenwood is pure adrenaline rush! From the first page to the end, JK Ellem delivers another heart-pounding and completely riveting case that will send shivers down your spine as it races toward the exciting climax. If you’re up for a game of mind-blowing murder and mayhem that includes black ravens with watchful eyes, frozen bodies with missing eyes, and innumerable missing persons, then this one should certainly receive top billing with you. I highly recommend it.
Now the anxiety builds, and the wait begins for the release of THE SISTERHOOD, the third installment on April 29, 2022.
Ravenwood is not the quiet, peaceful town it appears to be. On the surface, it seems idyllic, with its quaint stores, charming streets, and friendly townsfolk. Peel away the layers, and you’ll find dark, and sinister secrets, an ugly, murderous history, and a town that has unknowingly become a haven for evil to take root, and grow.

this book is absolute Dreck - 10 stars awful garbage
The author describes himself as "I am the innovative author of cutting-edge popular adult thriller fiction" to paraphrase a Beetlejuice line "Innovative -is that what they're calling your kind these days?"
In the first book in this series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... I described it as having unreliable narrators; yes plural. This book can only be described as having an unreliable author.
Characters and facts from the first book are utterly changed and no one bats an eye. There is a rule to writing mysteries that you can't just present the murdered in the last few pages without previously introducing the character - but this author does.
I loved Mill Point Road and couldn't wait to read this next instalment. And it didn't disappoint at all. We find Detective Perez, having been promoted after catching the Eden Killer, being tormented with black roses and a mysterious letter. Unfortunately her mentor, Marvin Richards had retired, my only disappoint of the book, but Perez sons hunts him out to ask for his advice. The book is full of twists and turns, sometimes it's hard to keep up. But you will keep up. In fact you won't be able to put it down as more and more things happen that bring you back to the ladies in Mill Point Road. Really didn't want it to end. Bring on Sisterhood
This is a continuing story with an ending yet not an ending. So many mysteries, so many questions but only a few answers. The writing style is different. Like mini stories within the larger story. So intriguing, so unique, so many cliff hanging moments. Now that I am completely hooked on this adventure of the creepy town of Ravenswood I am looking forward to the next episode to see what mysteries might unfold.
I love that we are back with the ladies of Mill Point Rd. I'm very anxious to see how this mystery will all come together. The book ended with a lot of open ends; but that's the point of most series. I really enjoy being able to read from so many POVs allowing me to connect and love some characters, while hating others. I'm ready to read what else happens in the little town of Ravenwood.
Haley Perze is back....this time as a senior homicide detective.
She thought her days were long gone investigating the people that lived at Mill Point Road. But when a suspected homicide of a young female is found dead on a local monument and the temporary crime scene investigator reveals that she has just moved to the gated community of Mill Point Road it peeks Perze's interest.
The people that still live in Mill Point, still have secrets to keep....some more than others.
But who would kill to keep them? And who is Perze hunting?
I listened to Ravenwood the second book in the Mill Point Road/Ravenwood Series by JK Ellem. These books are hard to come by in the library or to listen to as an audio. There are two more books to finish out this series which I am trying to locate before I buy them.
The women of Mill Point Road return again with Detective Haley Perez and retired Detective Marv Richardson. I thought the first book was evil, disturbing, and sinister. That was child’s play compared to this one. I think this was even more disturbing.
The story starts one year from where the last book left off. Zoe and Jason Collins have relocated. Sabine is now out of jail. Scott wrote a book about the Eden killer. Becca’s house is being rebuilt after the killing taking place there. Paige has a little baby named Mallory. A new neighbor has moved to Mill Point Road. Maggie now 70 years is still a cougar. Her husband Hank is soon to be released from prison. Haley Perez is trying to solve the case of a young woman found murdered in the national park. Retired Detective Marv Richardson is living a quiet life in his cabin in the woods flying fishing.
Murder and mayhem are all over this story. It does tie up somethings, but of course leaves with a cliff hanger ending for the third book.
These are notes below the line so I can remember the story. —————————————————————————
1. Haley Perez is trying to solve the murder of Peggy Ann Tuttle who was found dead in the national park. It turns out Peggy was frozen and then her body thawed out and was dumped in the park. It turns out the person who was responsible for the murder is Dylan Cobb who was an apprentice to the Eden Killer. He was abused by his mother and grew up to be a murder, rapist, and sexual predator. He was freezing woman and torturing them at an abandoned farm. Haley eventually figures this out and comes upon him. What you learn is so disturbing I can’t even type it. It is horrible. You also learn that Haley might have suffered some type of abusive as a child, but you don’t find anything out.
2. The new neighbor is Annabelle Chandler the county coroner. She had to leave LA after she operated on a child after having two drinks and accidentally killed the child during the surgery. She changed her name and moved to Ravenwood.
3. Sabine never forgave Paige for reporting her Ponzi scheme with husband Mark. Mark is dead now. Sabine decides to try to kidnap Mallory. There is a struggle between Paige and Sabine. Paige gets Mallory and Becca pushes Sabine over the railing of Paige’s two story foyer killing her. They cover up the murder and now have to keep the secret.
4. Paige figures out Scott had a vasectomy and Mallory is actually Adam Teal’s son who was the young college student she had an affair with in the first book.
5. Insurance agent Phil Benton is trying to prove that Becca killed her first husband Michael and that it wasn’t a suicide. He is eventually found dead in his car handcuffed to the steering wheel after an accelerant was used to start the fire.
6. The story ends with Hank Vickerman out of prison now. He gets a visit from who you assume is the person who trained the Eden Killer and Dylan Cobb to be killer. Hank is back for vengeance on most likely his wife Maggie or maybe Becca.
I had a hard time with this one, I felt the first book was impossible to put down and was (and still am) very excited for the rest of the series. It just felt disconnected. I didn’t get near the same feel for the mill point road girls, and it went in circles a bit.
Overall, I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. My fingers are crossed for the next two!
“Ravenwood”, second book in the four book Domestic Thriller series by JK Ellem. These books have been a suspenseful ride leaving me wanting more. This book digs even deeper into the lives of the residents of Ravenwood revealing some secrets and hinting at more. I can’t wait to get on with the 3rd one now! I can’t tell if these are a quick read or if I’m just devouring them because I can’t wait for more!

There was way too much going on in this book. You have a serial killer going after young women, then suddenly in 5 pages that whole thing is solved, THE END of that storyline with a LOT of book left. Then a random chapter about a doctor attempting life-saving surgery that failed. Where did that come from, and will Book Three explain and resolve? And more importantly, do we care about this tertiary character?
Then the character of Maggie, who "just turned 70." But she can get any and every gorgeous young stud into her bed. And her son, a major character in the first book of the series, was taking a gap year before college, so he is 19'ish...She had him at age 50??
I have the third book downloaded, but not super excited about it. First book was good, second not so much. I hope this isn't a trend.
This follows from Mill Point Road. It's a great read, the storyline is well thought out and makes you want to keep reading. We get to meet some of the same characters from Mill Point Road, with some new characters entering the story, and of course it's where murder seems to hang around all the time. Jk Ellem has thought of a great way to keep his readers entertained. Each book carries on from the first and, what answers don't come out in the book you just finished, comes out in the next book. If you enjoy a great series as i do, you should try this series. It's not a money maker at all, just pure excitement waiting for the next installment to arrive. I'm now on the 3rd in the series- Sisterhood. A highly recommend read.
I lost interest in this story, and came back to finish it. There are more than one plot, and several strong characters—and I didn’t like them all, which is part of the reason I laid the book down. But the writing is good. Again in this sequel the focus is on the small enclave of large, lavish homes and the people who live there. None of this group is likable, and that was part of my issue; I couldn’t stay with the repellant women. But the discovery of a murdered woman in a park brings in the character of Detective Pérez, who is learning to be a good cop as she tries to figure out who killed the young woman. That plot, once it started, pulled me through the book.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. This book I felt that it was dragging on and on and it took me awhile to actually finish this book because nothing much was happening. I will continue with the next book in the series because I really did enjoy the first book.
Still just a little over the top for me but really good. The editing could be better as there are some grammatical issues but the story is good. I’m excited to start on the third to see where this goes.
These series of books are fabulous! A lot of twists and turns, new characters, and interesting story lines that also incorporates information from the previous book. I'm on the third and final book and I hate to see this story end! 😒
Loved this. Any book that starts with a raven's perspective on the taste of a human eyeball let's you know you are in for a wild ride. This second installment of this series was even better than the series starter. Can't wait to read the Sisterhood.
Another great book in this series! The ending, wow! Cannot wait until I can read the 3rd book now. Why have I’ve not known about this writer?! Suspense and great storylines
Wow, crazy good with all kinds of twists. Mr Ellen links his stories with others of his different series and pulls you into them. Very enjoyable, keeps you guessing all the way.
This was a little better than book one. More focused on detective Perez. Some of it was still really cringy and several weird choices. The plot was ok but unfulfilled (which makes sense for a series but is still kind of annoying). I’ll keep reading the series because I have them all.
Mill Point Road returns with more secrets and shady characters. Enjoyed reading this instalment and can't wait to read more. Ravenwood is getting dark. Is anyone safe? Who can you trust? Bring on The Sisterhood
This second book in the series definitely didn't hold my interest as well as the first one but it still was a pretty good read.
It focuses more on the detective and less on the Mill Point Road residents so maybe that is why. I have to see how the series ends now so it's on to the next book.
