3.5 rating up - I didn't always like it for sure! But when I liked it I really did.
Reminded me I absolutely want to learn more about hypnosis. Should probably visit the website for the audios and listen again to the magic tricks some day.

When the good advice landed, it landed really well. Some really good practical advice for achieving goals.

I did find the book a bit heavy on personal stories and anecdotes making it feel more like a biography.

The book is mostly sensible advice for every day - how to handle stress, dealing with negative people, remembering names etc.

In parts however, this advice is a bit over the top. I get the feeling the author is quite an intense person and this comes across in particular chapters.

I listened to this on audio book, though if you wanted to really make the most of it, the physical book would be best.

So... I have bit mixed feelings about this one! On one side, it's a great compendium of different ideas and techniques for self development and self help in general. On the other hand- if you read any other self help book(s)- you will find nothing new here. Except for a Keith life's story- a lot of it. And few magic tricks ;)
So if you are new to self "development"- it's a nice start.
If you are not- you might be very bored at some point. BUT saying that- I think I would enjoy fragments, as an audiobook, once in a while, on double speed. I think.

This was a random selection in my audiobook app and surprisingly engaging. The author covers a multitude of topics from actual magic tricks, to how to subliminally influence other people to agree with you, how to cultivate a more positive outlook on life, how to tackle bad situations by accepting the situation as quickly as possible so your mind can focus on solutions, and much more.
He talks about his own journey to becoming a magician, including his work on the Now You See Me movies.
I recommend this to people who are interested in personal success and business success.

Not completely terrible - listened to the audiobook (it was quite discounted on audible) on the off chance that this would contain something interesting. I think the packaging for this book misrepresents what it contains as it is basically a memoir with some added bits where Barry explains why he thinks the way he does and some self helpy bits that I mostly ignored. He gives an interesting perspective on the way that people think, given that he is a magician which is why I decided to read this.

I don’t really like magic and I found all the stuff about illusions uninteresting and at times stressful (why would anyone think it would be fun to have someone shoot at them? And why would anyone find that entertaining to watch? Not my thing). If you like magic then you’d probably like this book.

Really enjoyed reading this book and the tips and suggestion have practical benefits. I am going to read this book again to keep my mind sharp, which I do with other books.
