We return to Mads Cole's world first encountered in 'Silkwash'. She needs to find some place for herself and her daughter, and nowhere feels safe. However, there are people who can, and want to, help. Even then, she can't stop worrying.

Mads is a very strong woman with integrity, and the reader is completely drawn into this book right from the first paragraph. We want to know how this woman is coping, as a reader our emotions are being pulled every which way, full of fear, hope, and heartbreak, so can only imagine what Mads is going through.

Trevena is an excellent author who tells a great story, shows fabulous worldbuilding, and her words create such atmosphere. Being the second book, Mads is already loved by us and her daughter is showing great promise.
