Written In Blood by Ankita Verma is her second title and is a thriller that deals with the themes of religious extremism, terrorism, politics and intelligence operations with a hint of romance.
This story is taking place in the present day India  uses two major past events to provide context - The Kashmiri Pandit exodus of 1991 and a terror attack in Tel Aviv in a conflict torn Israel of 2005.

The story features characters who were directly impacted by these events - Aliya, a celebrity's daughter and Shezi, a diplomat's son. An international terror organization is planning something dangerous that can put the entire country at risk and how this threat will affect everyone is what the story is about.

This book deals with some sensitive topics but it maintains a balance with how the story pans out and how the characters are portrayed. The characters are fleshed out well and all the characters have a good space in the story. One gets a chance to understand all the key characters.

The story moves at a good pace and does not slow down. The progression of the story is made more impactful because new details keep getting added and there is no stalling in how the events in the story occur. The writing flows smoothly and is easy to understand. The writing isn't pretentious at all. The simplicity and effortlessness of the writing is the reason for it being so effective.

Torn between love and religion is a Muslim woman who dared to love in militancy-ridden Kashmir of 1991. A young boy who faced an ugly reality of religious conflict in 2005. After decades the ghost of the past has not left them, hunting them down one by one. Now the future of their homeland and families are in jeopardy.

An engrossing tale of people from two different generation yet connected by a single thread, religion. A fast paced political thriller that keeps you hooked from cover to cover. The intricate details in the plots followed by gripping situations is what makes this book worthy of your time. The magic element of this book is it's not entirely a political thriller but many elements are playing together and drawing a scenario of today's fractured modern society.

Here we get an extensive picture of the characters although some characters are deliberately kept from limelight to keep the anticipation intact.

Writing style is simple and wonderfully manages the flow throughout the book. A very sensible approach to portray the contemporary socio-political unrest with a mild touch of love and loss. At times though it feels draggy and monotonous.

It took me some time to get into the book, not a bone chilling thriller but surely gives a thrilling, adventurous feel after some time with numerous twists and turns.

*written in blood*

the readers are introduced to two characters, or rather, two families that went through some kind of a miserable incident in their past. and both of those incidents are the result of religious extremism. this past often haunts their present lives. we see the characters of the two families slowly come into each others' lives. and from there on, the present-day story starts building up.

the protagonists of this book are not flawless. and that is something that I really appreciate. flawless, super-hero kinda characters usually do not entertain me. at first, I felt a little confused; too many character names were thrown at me. but a few chapters in, I really started seeing the bigger picture. Aliya was a well-written character; very likeable too! at some points, I felt like the actions of the characters were not justified enough; I would have loved to see why certain characters acted in certain unusual ways. seeing that perspective would have been really nice. the bond between the characters was good and the results of that bond were also very vital to the plot.

"we never lose those we truly love. When it gets dark, they make their presence felt through a sudden thought or a lost dream or a forgotten song. And when the sun shines, they come back to us like a shadow that can never leave. Remember, the one that lives in your heart can never die."

the writing style is very gripping. I did finish the book in two sittings. and it was very fast-paced. there weren't any dull moments. there were elements of religion, politics, military operations, terrorism, etc that were decently handled. the book does not speak for one or another religion. it just criticises religious extremism.

even though this book handled a lot of serious themes, it was an easy read for me, mainly because of the fast-moving plot and the element of suspense. overall, a very good read!

Politics and mediocre, more than terrorism, are only destructive that live within these pages, written in blood. As I accumulated my thoughts to write about the aggressive terrorism in Kashmir and the root fiasco that follows the protagonist, I found this describes just not any aggressive violence. Religion fuels the ever-burning flame to back up the power-packed politics (which I fear the most more than the actual terrorism). I know I sound hysterical!
So, This book follows two stories and multiple pasts that awaits in the pipeline to blow up while a terror organisation operates remotely to make their already disrupted existence into even a bigger question. On one hand, Aliya, who is exhausted by the religious intentions, and, Shezii, who burnt out of social consciousness, meet each other. Aliya finds no importance in giving their love a chance. On the other hand, Sana is a popular figure in media with greater political attention, who choose to stay out of the nudging past and tries to make the best life. Read and see what this unfolds!
It is scary to read the sparse prose that pictures the events of the country’s political fluctuation and to watch how the government system collapses and course-correct at the same time. I found it hard to understand the crux initially but managed to catch up eventually. Throughout this read, I was pondering a few questions that ultimately left me with this nagging feel:
What is liberation looks like, no matter what privileged or not?
How does it feel for a citizen to live in a war zone or with a violence-stricken past?
How do they overcome the trauma that the religious/political traits inflicted upon them? (If only you recognise it as truly as what it to be).
Despite the darker aspects you find here, this book offers a bleak ray of hope to expect. The author had put so much effort in the emotional investment in characters is laudable and, I love how this book lets us observe the nuances of different characters perspectives as the crisis was cooking up.
I won’t say this book is too ambitious, but they seek their purpose in a way that no one would look for. On that note, I say, pick if you are up for some lush read.

Journalists who genuinely attempt to reveal the gory and dirty truths of the society have forever been tried to sush by powerful behemoths and Sana is one of those who lived and suffered through the tumultuous political strife of Kashmir in 1991. The heartbreaking picture is painted in the very start as Sana and Anurag are painfully dragged away from each other due to religious extremism. Paralelly runs a depicting rhe havoc unleashed by a terrorist group in Israel.

This fanatism is further developed as Dr. Khan's political ambitions and strategies unfold. While Shezii provides a foil to Dr.Khan's ideologies, his blooming friendship with Aliya, Sana's daughter provides the love angle in the novel and Meera's unwavering support to Shezii is heart-warming.

What the novel succeeds in highlighting is how political agencies not only gains from religious polarization but actually fosters it. Moreover, the author successfully portrays how the victims of the corrupt system realise the futility of all the war-mongering sectors but it's too late for any good and the vicious cycle continues, dragging in more and more innocent victims until they are not innocent anymore. The fine line between the assaulters and the victims gets blurred within the nexus of propaganda, politics, religious extremism and fanatism.

The novels ends with a few questions unanswered, leaving the readers pondering about them and longing for a sequel.

Ankita Verma through her spell binding fiction 'Written In Blood'reflects the terrorism and communal riots happening within the walls of India. It uplifts the truth of the Indian media and political conditions of the country. Through this novel, the author tries to represent the social and political issues that our country faces.

It was the year 1991, when Kashmir was at the peak of terrorism and religious riots. The killing took place and the Kashmiri pundits were moving to the capital out of the fear and life risk. Sans Sikendar Sheikh, a leading journalist of Kashmiri Times, had a troubling past. Leaving everything back at Kashmir, she is currently living with her daughter Aliya in Delhi.

Aliya, being a celebrity daughter, struggles and has a deep infliction within herself & is up to something mysterious. On the other hand, Shezii a remarkable architecture student is finding difficult to survive because of his roots and existence.

This novel is definitely a riveting one which unfolds the hidden truths of the society. The language and story portrayal is simple. Definitely a must-read book.

The book cover and the title of the book is too sensitive. Like, the story is also the consequence of politics, religion and terrorism. How these social issues disrupt the major chapters life and how they are struggling to find a solution is the fast pacing story.

This book is all about Kashmir in 1991 and present. This novel has captured the realistic dilemma of Kashmir extremely well. Shezii and Aliya's life in this hectic crossfire of religious isolation is unimaginable for me. We used to come across the Kashmir border war in new channels but did not know that much clearly. But in this novel, the author has faultlessly illustrated the reality of the situation in Kashmir and the inhabitants. Really too emotional and heart-throbbing. This book intensely talks about Islam. The two sides of the story met a single solution.

Lots of inter characters are involved in this story to give twists and drag the situation most risky. A lot of names have to highlight to keep in mind. Reading this book gives me a feeling of reading STREAM OF CONSCIOUS (gener)novels, like MIDNIGHT CHILDREN. Too tactful novel.

"Written in Blood" by Ankita Verma will take you to the journey at the time in Kashmir in 1991 when terrorism and religious extremism was at their peak, though India is still not free from these but at that time it was not at all in control. The story starts when a leading reporter of the Kashmiri Times, Sana Sikander Seikh argued over a call. The Story will take a new turn to Israel, where a family is caught by a terrorist group and faced a massacre. The protagonists had an ugly past which haunted them in present. Meanwhile, Sana had to move to Delhi with her daughter, Aliya. You'll also get a pinch of Romance in this book.

The story will flawlessly shift you from one time zone to another. The book will introduce so many characters at a time and may confuse you a bit if you're not an avid reader but in the end, it'll all be sorted out. The language of the book was rich. The book is quite long but once you get into it, it'll flow smoothly. The story narration is done so beautifully that you'll be hooked on it till the last chapter. The book cover is intriguing. I wanted to try some new genre to read so, I picked this book and I didn't regret it at all. The title of the book is catchy.

If you're looking for a fast-paced story. This is definitely for you. Grab your copy and give it a read.

Kashmir has always been at the forefront of most atrocious happenings especially since independence. The peaceful people have always tried to maintain the sanctity of the environment (pun intended) whether its the exodus of Kashmiri pandits in the 90s or the innumerable killings of Hindus in recent times.

This book revolves around the same kind of tragic atmosphere and built around the theme of religious fanaticism of a particular sect . There is bloodshed ,crude details of horror that the people witnessed during those times and continue to bear the repurcussions still today

Through the characters of Sana ,Shezii , Aliya and Meera author is successful in showing us the grim reality which the media never care to present. Also how the parties through rampant polarisation succeeds in creating a rift between people is adequately displayed. The book is definitely very detailed and the ones who enjoy thrillers with realism and are ready to witness the tumultuous times should certainly read this.

WRITTEN IN BLOOD is exceptionally gripping, if you are at around 60 or so pages trust me when I say this, you can't keep the book down. The theme of the book throws light on the social and political scenario of our country. The other themes are religious extremism, terrorism, friendship, loss, and love.

The author has connected two characters or say two distinct families. One of them is Shezii and the other is Aliya who are traumatized by their past incidents like religious seclusion and extremism and choose to combat their fight on their own. The story begins in Kashmir when the Kashmiri pandits are fleeing to Delhi to protect their own lives and in all this mess Sana Sikander Sheikh's life turns up and down who at that time was a lead journalist in Kashmir Times. Then the story moves to the present day where Sana is in Delhi with her daughter Aliya who has just returned from London. Shezii and Aliya end up studying in the same college and then become friends. With the friendship and bond between them starting to take a shape, the mysteries from all the corners started to unravel which made the plot intriguing. The last few pages were extremely engaging.

The story is well composed and all the characters are well depicted. The tension is built throughout the book and the book is unputdownable. I loved the thrill the story has established right from the start and loved how the story has been intertwined. And by the end, the twist will leave you stunned.

Moreover, I loved the cover, the story tunes with the cover. It was an incredible read. I hope you enjoy the book too.

Happy reading

"You know, we never lose those we truly love. When it gets dark, they make their presence felt through a sudden thought or a lost dream or a forgotten song. And when the sun shines, they come back to us like a shadow that can never leave."

Through her political thriller 'Written in Blood, Ankita Verma brings the horrors of the past to the folds of the present, twisting and straining two lives. One, a young Muslim Kashmiri woman whose love in the raging unrest Kashmir turns her life in a way she never thought it would. Another, a little Muslim boy who sees the dark face of religion at a very young age. Both try to face their demons their own way. However, when it catches up to their present, it gets bigger than them. Will they fight their ultimate fight? A fight for their country? A battle for the truth?

When I began reading the book, I didn't know what to expect. Political thrillers can go either way - especially when it speaks of religion and fanaticism. However, this book took a good turn with the plot. It was intense, and my heart felt like it was running a race. It's a big book, and yet I couldn't put it down. The author tried to link real instances and ideologies in the novel, which made reading it a lot intriguing. I loved that it wasn't a biased take but instead called out the wrong for the wrongs and the rights for the right. While I loved how the twists and turns occurred throughout the narrative, I'm still unsure about the ending. The author indeed left it to interpretation and on a cliffhanger.

However, it wasn't all perfect. Certain sections in the book didn't flow smoothly, especially when it came to Aliya's story. I was confused in specific parts, and after the final revelation, I found myself recalling the instances that took place. There were a few typos here and there, which didn't interrupt my reading flow; however, they needed to be mentioned. I appreciated the relationships in the book and how it was placed. It gave the story much depth. As for the characterization, Aliya's character needed to be explored a little bit more.

Overall, if you enjoy thrillers, even if not political ones, this is an excellent book to explore. It will get your heart thumping just right.

Full review on my blog:
https://blog.medhaapps.com/2021/12/bo...

It was the early 90’s, when Kashmiri Pandits had to leave their homes to escape the mass lynching; Sana Sheikh lost the love of her life, her younger brother, everything in life to these events. However, she built her life back, along with a leading media house. In conflict ridden Israel in 2005, a young boy Shezii along with his parents, who were visiting Indian diplomats were intimidated by terrorists, and left a permanent scar on Shezii’s psyche.

In current day, a deadly terrorist runs his Jihadi network from his prison in Cairo, and plots for an attack in the Kashmir valley. Dr. Kamran Khan, a well-known professor with political aspirations can go to any lengths to manipulate people around him. Sana’s daughter Aliya, who is back from London joins the Shezii’s college and inadvertently grabs his attention as well as becomes the target for Dr. Khan’s malicious plans. How Shezii and Aliya, with contrasting personalities, life goals and religious beliefs, get pulled into this political and terror game of death forms the rest of the story.

Written in Blood is a contemporary political thriller that covers a multitude of aspects like religious extremism, standoff in Kashmir and international terror groups. From the word go, the story moves a brisk pace and maintains it through out, keeping the reader on the edge. All the characters are well developed to perfection, while few of them like Aliya are mysterious and keep the reader intrigued. The story moves between geographies — Kashmir, Tel Aviv, Cairo, Delhi with ease, as the author maintains grip on the narration.

The weaving of the characters around the central character of Sana is the highlight of the story with every thread binding back to the story towards the end. Though some parts of the second half feel dragged, the climax makes up for all the missing pieces of the puzzle. I honestly would like to see this turn into a series with the characters embarking on more adventures.

I read the earlier book of the author Ankita and though I loved it as much, this time she has outdone herself. The story is almost flawless and is sure to give an adrenaline rush to fans of thrillers.

Thrill, suspense, religious extremism, loss, politics, journalism, military operations, terrorism and much more in a single book, brushed with strokes of a love story!
The book originally focusses on Sana Sikandar Sheikh, who falls in love with a Kashmiri Pandit. I loved it that their story ended up realistically. The story then progresses with Aliya and Shezii in the lead, fighting their own religious battles with terrorism plaguing the entire nation.
Even if the stories are decades apart from each other, the storyline is intertwined together after some time. The twists and suspenses are unfolded at perfect time.

I found the book to be an exhilarating and thrilling read, just like watching a movie. I am glad when they equate reading a book with a visual experience, because that’s what readers want. The book has a good pace and I was personally hooked to it at every chapter. There was no unnecessary dragging of the chapters, which I think every writer should consider ; even with 384 pages it didn't feel like a drag. It was only after the completion of almost whole of the book, I got the idea behind the book's title. It's a well-chosen title; perfect title it could have.

I liked how the book presents truths behind politics and our country, instead of just presenting it as some good-ending story which would sound unrealistic. Although some may find the ending a little too flat than expected, but the author probably wanted it to sound real, rather than dramatic. Ending was my most favourite part, it's so less we see such cliffhanger endings.

The characters were strong though I felt like they were too many and had to catch up with all of them but once I got the hang of it, things became easier. I would neglect the spelling mistakes and sentence redundancy and give the book a 5-star. The religion-biased book proved nothing about the mentality of the Muslims in India but about the mentality of the author herself. Both the negative and positive characters are kept Muslim and this bitter part of story is a smart idea! Well executed plotline with a spectacular command over the language which makes it easy for new readers.

The appeal of political or religious thrillers varies from reader to reader. I personally love the conspiracies and the unfolding political games.

This is a story of a young Muslim woman who dares to love in militancy-ridden Kashmir of 1991. This is a tale of a little boy who faces an ugly reality of life in conflict-torn Israel of 2005.
So basically the book portraits the story of two different families who had to face very disturbing incidents in the past which still affects their present. Then the members of these two families cross each other's paths and the present-day plot starts building up.

This is an intriguing tale which talks about terrorism, warfare, religion, military operations, and politics in India. The story involved many characters and each had an important role to play. Each one of them had their own motives. Not only the main protagonists, but even the side characters left a great impact on me.

One thing I didn't like is that despite so many characters, I was left wanting more information. I felt that the background stories and other relevant information that a reader needs to know could have been delivered in a better way.

The story portrays so many emotions. As the story unfolds, there comes many twists and turns, making it hard to put down. While reading the book, I could feel the depth of pain of the characters. Kudos to author for delivering such a captivating and powerful mystery.

I loved the setting of the story. It kept me racing through the pages. The language used is simple without being unpolished.
The book has some amazing lines, indicating the religious extremism and making the reader ponder over it.
"𝐀 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦."

This is a powerful book that wonderfully combines its amazing storyline with its deep religious and political background to create a read that will leave you thinking about so many things.

TW: Religion, socio-political conflicts
--
🩸Have you ever read a book that delves too much into religious politics without amole research? Well, there are overtly religious people and then there are people who just follow the religion they're born into. As humans, when born, we follow our family's religion and caste, we are bound to practice religious rituals and so on. But when we begin to consider religion as our core existence, that my dear becomes a totally different issue altogether.
--
🩸 This story is set predominantly in Kashmir and Delhi. It begins with the forced fleeing of Kashmiri pandits, where they had to abandon everything and flee for their lives. Sana, a Kashmiri, makes a life for herself as a reporter in Delhi. We are the introduced to the two main characters — Shezi, a brilliant architecture student and Aliya, daughter of celebrity reporter Sana.
--
🩸The lives of Shezi and Aliya get entwined and we witness a multitude of religious and socio-political conflicts that affect them. The plot traverses between the past where Sana had undergone immense agony which affects Aliya's life and the Tel-Aviv incident that traumatizes Shezi to their present scenario in their lives. The Indian armed forces get information of an upcoming terror attack by an international terror organization and sense that the sleeper cells have been activated in India. Who really is Aliya? Can Shezi save Aliya from herself?
--
🩸To be honest, I couldn't bring myself to complete this book. I'm not a religious fanatic, but there was too much religious conflicts and terrorism mentioned that I couldn't digest all the info. Though this is purely a work of fiction, I'm not sure how well this book sits with its readers. I might applaud the author for writing bravely on a sensitive topic, while I cannot confirm how much research has gone into writing this book!
--
🩸If you're looking for a good suspense thriller, without diving too much into its other aspects, I would suggest you to give this a read!

Kashmir has always topped our list when any political as well as social issues comes up or on the other hand even  the language of Love comes up. The book that I'll be talking about today has all.

𝑾𝑹𝑰𝑻𝑻𝑬𝑵 𝑰𝑵 𝑩𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑫 𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂,
a complete package, it has a lil touch of love, some horrific or terrible experiences, betrayal from loved ones, religious barriers, terrorism, operations of military forces of respective countries, thrilled and chilled atmosphere as well. In short a lot more to it.

Now about the story, the main protagonist Sana, is a fearless, dedicated to her work, bold and enthusiastic journalist of a leading newspaper of Kashmir, The Kashmiri Times. She reportd only the truth. After her parents sad demise she's left with her brother Awais. After loving a boy out of her religion with all the love she had, but betrayal came alongside. She found that she was pregnant with his child and after going the report, that small note shattered her world and she felt like her life has come to an end.

Sana, this character is very well written which resulted into a great imagination by the readers. Her soul  intensely lead a pathway to connect us to the novel to the full extent. The other characters Shezii and Aliya, they are also fantastically portrayed. Shezii is a bright students of Architecture whereas Aliya is a struggling celeb. Among the religious battles and all, are they all set to fight their own battles?

The story opens up with a thriller atmosphere of Kashmiri pandits to head back to Delhi by an arranged bus. There is fear of getting killed or something much brutal.

The language and narration is rich in literature and smooth. Its gripping and touchy. Easy to read, Fastpaced and beginner friendly. The book cover and the title both gave justice to all the way long the end and climax as well. But having said that, this book is not that easy to read, by this I meant about the dark manner in which it's written. Read this when you feel you're ready okay. Flawless book you must pick!

"No, I will not change my report," Sana screamed into the phone, the colour rising under her porcelain skin. "You can tell them that The Kashmiri Times is not for sale. The truth will be reported as it is. And I don't care for your reasons."

Written in Blood, a thriller that is very much relevant to the contemporary social and political scenario in our country. It's a story of reclamation and self-actualization. The author has dominantly introduced two characters, or let's say two different families, who both endured the identical traumatic experience of religious extremism in their past.
Shezii, a bright student of architecture questions his existence while Aliya, a celebrity daughter, struggles to find her pivot. Yanked between the crossfire of religious seclusion and fanaticism, Shezii and Aliya elect to fight out their own battles.

The story opens up in Kashmir among highly turbulent scenarios, Kashmiri Pandits are heading to Delhi leaving everything behind, and there's a sense of fear in the air. Sana Sikander Sheikh, the protagonist is a reputed journalist for the Leading Local Daily newspaper (Kashmiri Times), a character that holds the soul of this story. She, Aliya, Meera, Anandita Devi, and Dr Kamran is the other well-written characters.

The story drifts to the highest possible criterion of a thriller and encompasses elements such as religious extremism, love, loss, politics, military operations, terrorism, etc.

It's an unputdownable book, the suspense, the thriller, the horrific incidents it maintained is very well. The language used is good, the characterization is so good, the narration is apt. When reading, this all felt so real to me like I'm experiencing these incidents. The cover is what made me choose the book.

It's a mature, sensible and critical portrayal of thoughts.

The story begins with an unmanageable incident in Kashmir where the Kashmiri Pandits are forced to flee their home land abandoning everything behind to save their lives creating an air of fear in the reader’s heart. The plot has been engrossed mainly on two characters, Shezii and Aliya, and their individual traumatic experience in adolescence. Shezii, a brilliant architecture student whereas Aliya, daughter of a celebrity reporter Sana Sikander Sheikh pitches upon each other’s lives and their tale follows a plentiful of religious and political plight.

The book comprises the agonizing events undergone by Sana and the birth of Aliya which happened a decade ago followed by the devastating affairs in Tel Aviv withstood by Shezii and his family to the current day scenarios in their lives. The storyline focuses on the religious conflicts happening in Kashmir and the demarcation and execution of a terrorist attack in India by an international terror organisation. Will this put Shezii and Aliya, even their country, at great risk? Will they be haunted by their past?

Initially, the story seemed a bit confusing, the reason being the introduction of a great deal of characters and the shifting of the story from the past to the present. In Spite of that the story got into its grip later and it was found to be fast moving despite the length of the book. The mystery in the story was well maintained till the end with the required amount of unpredictable twists and turns. The author’s writing was simple and smooth which made the book extra interesting and understandable. In the beginning, I was intrigued by the title and felt it to be unconnected with the story but ever since I finished the book, it turned out to be the only perfect title it could have.

If you’re looking for a suspense thriller which you could relate to the occurrences you’re knowledgeable with, then just go for it.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

For Sana Sikander Sheikh, it had been a long journey over a decade & a half, from the charming, unpolluted alleys of Kashmir to Delhi’s vicious power corridor. Now she is the proud owner of the leading news channel “India truth”, But it had come at a cost, she had failed to build any meaningful relationship with her only child Aliya who had grown up at various expensive boarding schools before leaving for London university as a young adult.

⚔️ Shezii is distraught from childhood trauma but a bright architecture student who keeps locking horns with people over religion, but soon he crosses paths with Aliya and things never remained the same after that. As they find themselves in the middle of a war with a terrorist organization.

It’s a book about religion, the militant-ridden Kashmir, the power games played in politics, and terrorism.

𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:

🖊️ I felt that all of the characters were quite well developed with a hint of mystery in each one of those. Especially the character of Aliya. There were a number of characters that were introduced throughout the book and each one served the purpose they meant to serve.

𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞:

✍️The storyline is impressive there is a certain level of complexity that needs to be addressed when you are writing about religion, terrorism, Kashmir, and politics in India and the author did a commendable job at constructing the web of stories to make it engaging for the readers.

𝐇𝐨𝐰’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞?

✍️ The writing style is quite smooth which makes the book a fast-paced thriller, the transition between past, present and various parallel narratives is being done quite smoothly.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧:

If you are looking for a fast-paced book with an engaging storyline then I’ll definitely recommend you this book.

"Written in blood" is a fast paced, thrilling and unputdownable book touching on themes like religious extremism, politics, terrorism, undercover operations etc.

The story opens in Kashmir in 1991, with Sana, a prominent and daring journalist who always stands for the truth. She's in love with a Kashmiri Pandit Anurag. She only has her brother as family after the unfortunate death of their parents but even he has secluded himself gradually. One night, she receives a call from Anurag that could change her fate forever.

On the other hand, Shezii had a horrible childhood experience in 2005 Israel where he witnessed a carnage in the name of Jihad, where they were almost killed by the terrorists if they weren't of the same religion.

Their lives intersected in the present day plot giving readers a totally thrilling and unpredictable experience.

This is the kind of book which has the potential to hook you from the very first page. I just couldn't stop reading once I was into the plot. The writing style of the author is appealing and the narration is lucid and intriguing. I'm super glad that I finished it in just 2 or 3 days despite this book being a thick one.

I love books with short chapters because they kinda beat monotony for me and this book surely did the trick. Nowhere did I feel the plot dragged or getting monotonous. All the characters were really well penned and showed significant development throughout the book. Author has touched upon very sensitive topics like religion and politics in a subtle manner without favoring anyone, and I really appreciate her for this. The title itself is so intriguing.

I feel this book can be adapted into a movie and I really hope for a sequel. I had a great time reading this book and would like to recommend it to all the thriller lovers out there.

The readers are introduced to two persons, or rather, two families, who have each experienced a traumatic event in their lives. Religious fundamentalism is to blame for both of these incidents. This history frequently returns to haunt them in their present life. The two families' characters gradually become involved in each other's lives. From there, the present-day plot begins to take shape.

This book's protagonists aren't perfect. and it is something I respect greatly. Characters that are faultless or who are super-heroes do not generally excite me. I was initially perplexed because there were so many character names thrown at me. However, after a few chapters, I began to see the greater picture. Aliya was a well-written and likeable character. I felt like the characters' behaviours were not always justified; I would have liked to know why particular characters responded the way they did
in some peculiar ways It would have been great to get that perspective. The characters had a strong link, and the outcomes of that bond were crucial to the plot.

"We never lose touch with those we actually care about. When it gets dark, they show up with a fleeting thought, a forgotten dream, or a forgotten melody. And when the sun shines, they return to us like a never-ending shadow. Keep in mind that the one who lives in your heart will never die."

The writing style is quite engrossing. In two sittings, I finished the book. It was also incredibly fast-paced. There were no dull moments on this trip. Religion, politics, military operations, terrorism, and other topics were all handled well. The book does not advocate for any particular faith. It only condemns religious extremism.

Despite the fact that this novel dealt with a lot of important issues, themes, It was a quick read for me, thanks to the fast-paced plot and sense of suspense. Overall, a fantastic read!

🌟Sana Sikander Sheikh the lead reporter of The Kashmiri times in an intense verbal spat on the phone. "That the Kashmiri times is not for sale to anybody". That the truth will be set free.
Sana had dared to love Anurag a Kashmiri Pandit but a lot has changed in the past one year since Hizb-ul-Mujahideen had announced jihad against all non-Muslims in Kashmir which were mainly Kashmiri Pandits.

🌟Present Day:-
Shezii a bright architecture student who doesn't seem to acknowledge but still affected by the incident he faced when he was just a little boy in Israel in 2005. Which was conflict-torn due to extremists trying to settle things in their own way.

🌟The book is well researched with a lot of intricate detailing of army tactics, landscapes, religious aspects, how the system works on both end of the story. The book is fast paced with on point story which doesn't loose it's grip. Plot is very well set. The story has a lot of twist and turns which you wouldn't even think of.

🌟The writing style of the author goes very well with the theme of the book. The most I loved about the book was the character development the author took her time (POV with storyline)with the story in developing them and keeping humans to their core and their primal behavior without sugarcoating anything just humans being humans.

The area of the story that religious extremist will go to any length to force their religion without knowing half of it or what their teachings are is covered very thought provokingly.

🌟Overall a very good read if you are a fan of suspense, crime, thrillers, and dark themed books this is a must go.

"A peaceful solution? Sehzi scoffed. Not possible!
Until this nonsense about 'my religion is better than yours' stops, there can be no peace"
~ Written in Blood, Ankita Verma

My last read "Written in Blood" by 'Ankita Verma' is a perfect crime thriller book which will hold you till the end. The story begins with Sana Sikander Sheikh, a renowned journalist, when she gets betryaed in love by Anurag, a kashmiri pandit. The situation in Kashmir led Anurag to take this decision. After this incident things only got harder for Sana. Her brother whom she loved dearly, labelled Sana a 'kaafir' as she has dared to love a hindu guy.

Two families plays a major role in the story the first one has already been introduced and the second is Sehzi's family. Sehzi, a college student had a bitter past which gave him a different perspective to see things. He met Aliya (Sana's daughter) in college and starts falling for her. Little did he knew who she was and what was her goal. On the other side Aliya, a celebrity daughter was not much like her mother. She was portrayed totally different from Sana who was a nationalist. There were several other characters too, to support and make the storyline intersting.

Except the Hindu-Muslim love story plot the another important theme of the book was terrorism. An international terror organization plans to disrupt their turbulent lives and questions their loyalty to their homeland.

Will they able to prove their loyalty? What was Aliya's goal? Why was she compared to her mother in terms of nationalist?
Each question will be answered once you grab this fantastic book.

My take on this book, I absolutely loved this book and adore the way writer has portrayed the delicate topics like religion, politics, nationality etc. without making any derogatory remark. The suspence was perfectly build which kept me hooked till the very end. The chapters were short which made it more easy. The language was lucid. Felt like watching a thriller web series. What else you need?

Written in blood by Ankita Verma is a mysterious thriller and exciting story.
Pages count -: 384
Total chapters -: 95

The book is quite lengthy read as it contains total of 95 chapters each of 2 to 3 pages.

The story starts with a girl named Sana Sikander Sheikh who is a local reporter of Kashmir times. Thr story starts from January 6 , 1911 , From Shrinagar , Kashmir. It seems that she is arguing on phone call and just because of that she leaves the office.

Then the story tells us about her happy family how they used to live together. And at this place I was bit emotional as she was missing her family badly.
She loves a hindu boy. After some times we see that they both are arguing. Anurag being a hindu is leaving Kashmir just because Muslims are not letting them leave peacefully in Kashmir.

Then anurag is blaming Sana' s people for terrorism. Sana loves Anurag infinity but her love for her family , Kashmir made her thought and astonished.

So the story has religious touch in it as well and Kashmir terrorism is shown here.

Then the story agains turns to a family at Israil who is caught by a terrorist group .
There are two different stories going together but all interconnected. There are many plots where I found so much of interest .

The story is very mysterious at each page I was more curious to know about what will happen next. As already states there are many plots going simaltinously. The book introduced many new characters at each chapter . And gave brief description about them.
Nikki , Drm kamran , Anandita , Rajeev , Major Ram , minister Arjun , Aliya , Sheril , Meera.

Language is rich and lucid. At times several story plot together may confuse you but at the end it will all be crystal clear. Loved every bit of it. Recommended

The title of the book is unique, and it explains everything. I had to pick it up because of the engaging title. The book is of the my favourite genre, thriller. The story is all about a young leading Muslim girl named, Sana Sikander Sheikh. She is a reporter from the good renowned local news Agency named "Kashmir Times" with the passing time she started getting popularity and further she became the specialist with many more responsibilities, like picking headlines, concluding political news, supervision, guiding juniors and many on the list. She plays her every single part with honesty and determination. The whole story has been set up in Srinagar, Kashmir, in early 1991. The story has the elements like riots, terrorist, fear, courage, religion extremism and forces. The other character named, Anurag. He is a Hindu and use to stay in Kashmir. He has some soft corner in his heart for Sana.

There was mass killing happening due to a clash In Kashmir. Kashmiri Hindus were beaten harshly, There were lots of bloodshed. As Anurag is a Hindu boy so he was trying to get away from that place and in the meantime, he gets to know about Sana's pregnancy. What will happen next? Read the book to unfold the further story plot. I personally loved the plot.

It’s a complete saga of the thriller. Despite having many characters, The story moves at a faster pace. I liked that. The narration style of the author is crisp and captivating that holds the interest of the reader. The development of the thriller is well-plotted. The story took a few unexpected turns that made it more justiciable and challenging for different characters in the given situations. The language of the book is lucid so that everyone can pick it up. Overall a great read. Recommended to all from my side.
