Come a Little Closer

Rate this book
Griffin Powell has avoided his hometown since he left it in the rearview years ago. But the former Marine understands duty and promises, and that means dragging himself back home as part of his brother's wedding party. Which gets him thinking about a promise he made to a woman, after the best night of his life. When she, too, shows up as part of the wedding, it feels like a sign.

Always a bridesmaid, professor Samantha Ferguson is dreading this bachelorette weekend. She’s the one of the lone single ladies, and the matron of honor is her high school nemesis. Sam figures she can suck it up and deal, until she comes face-to-face with the big, sexy ginger mistake from her past. Can this trip home get any worse?

Turns out it can. Not only are she and Griff paired up for all the bridal party bonding activities, forcing her to relive high school hell, but Sam's best friend goes missing. When no one takes her concerns seriously, she starts a search herself--and ends up with an unwanted bodyguard whose very presence reminds her of a hot Vegas night she’s tried hard to forget.

2 stars. Not my idea of romance.

The novella before this one (#3.5) is the start of this couple’s story. The hero and heroine knew each other since high school - when he dated her bully. His girlfriend was awful to the heroine and is in this book, continuing to be awful to the heroine. I’m really grossed out by this detail because it makes the hero seem like a loser right off the bat… for ever choosing to be with such an awful person. The heroine tutored him during their time together in high school and had a huge crush on him. She was ofc the nerdy loser who pined for him while he dated her bully. What a romantic setup. 🥴

Then, at 22y/o they ran into each other in Vegas where the heroine was a bridesmaid at a wedding. They spent some time together, fell in love, and got married. He then left her in bed, alone, with divorce papers and a letter saying that he was reenlisting in the marines. She was ofc heartbroken and devastated and didn’t see him or hear from him until this book begins 8 years later.

This book begins 8 years later where they are both in the wedding party of their friends. He is out of the military and while he didn’t pursue her or try to contact her in all of those years apart - he immediately knows that he wants a second chance. Riiight. I’m sure he was pining away so much for all of those years… so much so that he never even bothered to check on where she was or what she was doing. She was definitely in other relationships, but nothing serious. As for him, I doubt he wasn’t with OW, I think the author would have mentioned if he had remained celibate, as she did with the hero of book 1 in this series. All of this makes his claims to love her feel hollow and worthless.

So anyways, I really think this book could have been partially salvaged if the heroine hadn’t just taken the hero back immediately. There was the bare minimum of resistance from her… and she was being extremely conciliatory and thoughtful of his fragile feelings the entire time. She said I love you first, she coddled him and tried to not upset him, she was even going to propose to him first!!! She is one of the most pathetic, spineless, weak heroines I’ve read in a long time. Funnily enough, the author really tried hard to pass her off as a caring, forgiving, and understanding woman. Nope. Sorry. She had no self-respect, she was willing to take back a man who walked away from her for 8 years within a few days of being back in his orbit!!

So yea, terrible book. Books 1 & 3 in this series were better - both had good heroes, not like this guy at all.

Only reason this is 2 stars, not 1, is because I do like the writing style of this author.

SWE; 8 year long separation with other partners, no others once this story begins. OW drama from hero’s HS ex girlfriend. She was the heroine’s bully and tormented the h with stories of their sex lives in highschool. The hero isn’t interested in anyone but the heroine in this book. No OM drama.

I was so looking forward to this book and wasn’t disappointed. Hopefully you read Until We Meet Again where Sam and Griff ran into each other again in Las Vegas. He was the bad boy in high school and she was the geek. Both had feelings for each other, but never thought the other would feel the same. It was heartbreaking when they got married in Las Vegas, and when Sam woke up Griff had left a note and divorce papers saying he was re-enlisting but he would find her again. Eight years later the two arrive for one of Griff’s brothers’ pre-weekend wedding having no idea the other is coming. I loved that the two still had feelings for each other, but Griff knew he had to make up for his stupid mistake of leaving her without talking. Sam’s nemesis is also at the weekend and still giving her grief. Sam and Griff are worried about one of their friends they were close with growing up as they can’t get in touch with her and she was suppose to be at the weekend. I was so glad Griff was determined to help Sam find their friend Jill to make sure she was safe. Griff and Sam’s love story is so heartwarming with their second chance. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

5 star review of  Come A Little Closer (Men of The Misfit Inn #4) by Kait Nolan

This was an entertaining read that drew me in and held me captive from the first chapter. This is Griffin Powell and Samantha Ferguson’ s second chance at love story and was a good addition to the Men of the Misfit Inn series.
Although not necessary you could one click Until We Meet Again which is the prequel to this book. Having said that this can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Despite not wanting to Griffin has returned to his home town for his brother’s wedding. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that his partner is the woman he married in Vegas and then divorced years ago.
I fell hard and fast for Griffin, he is such a swoon worthy man and I really liked Samantha. When her best friend appears to go missing she suddenly finds herself turning to him for help. Both Griffin and Samantha have been through a lot over the years and I really felt for both of them.
There were a number of twists and turns that added an additional layer to the story and I was really cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they deserved. It was also great to catch up with some familiar characters.
Come A Little Closer ticked all the boxes for me. .

This is book 4 in Kait Nolan’s The Men of the Misfit Inn series. I'd definitely recommend the prequel novella, Until We Meet Again as it's the background/set up to this book. As such this review contains spoilers to that book.

After Griff left Sam the day after their impulsive Vegas wedding, she doesn't believe he's coming back. Oh boy did Nolan make these two wait for their second chance romance. Thrust together as part of the bridal party at another wedding of friends Griff had to work hard to even get another chance with Sam. I loved all the chances for them not only to explore who they were in their 20s, but also how different the high school experience was for each of them. A mix of nostalgia, light angst, and rekindling of their feelings.

Then, when Sam's friend goes missing, Griff joins her on an adventure as bodyguard. The focus on Jill provides the perfect opportunity to connect outside of their watchful and meddling friends. I enjoyed the HEA Nolan gave these two plus a cute epilogue. Swoon.

Ready for Declan's book, Just Wanted You To Know.

Narration:
Amy McFadden was great at bringing through all the emotion and angst with these two. Plus all the fun banter and sexy moments. All around fabulous listen that I devoured in one day.

Another solid story in the series - and a good lead-in to another series. Which is what this author does. But I have to confess…everyone is starting to run together and I’m having a hard time keeping everyone straight. Will that keep me from continuing to listed (or read) these books? Nope.

Samantha does not want or need to come face to face with the mistake that left her in a hotel room with a note and divorce papers years ago. Unfortunately, Griffin is at the wedding for his brother so she can't exactly avoid him, especially when it becomes obvious they're being paired together purposefully. Will Samantha grant Griffin the forgiveness and the second chance it's obvious he's seeking?

Griffin meant what he wrote on the note he left Samantha the morning after their wedding - that he'd come back for her. It just took longer than he had planned to make himself into the kind of man who deserves the amazing woman that his only love is. He's still not sure he's good enough for her, but it's past time he tried for the second chance he's always wanted. If only he could convince Samantha to take a chance on him again.

Second chances are some of my favorite kind of stories, especially when they're written like Come a Little Closer - extremely likable characters who work at their second chance, who completely redeem themselves, lots of chemistry, and more than their fair share of heart. Griffin and Samantha had obviously never gotten over each other, so I loved that they were able to make it work and were able to finally work on the happiness they deserved.

While I have loved reading all of the "Mistfit Inn" and "Men of the Misfit Inn" books, "Come a Little Closer" has become my new favorite. For those unfamiliar with both of the series, they focus on the adults who as children, grew up in a foster home run by the beloved Joan Reynolds. Now grown, each has a story to tell with the common thread being brought up in a loving home under Joan's care with a house full of loving siblings. This is Griffin Powell's story.
We first meet Griff in the prequel novella to "Come a Little Closer" called, "Until We Meet Again". I will say that I am really glad that I read the prequel and I would recommend others read it, too. (It's not necessary as Nolan does a great job of filling her readers in on what took place, but I would have felt like I missed out on a part of the story.) When I finished reading "Until We Meet Again", I couldn't wait to find out what happened with Griff and Sam! And Nolan did not disappoint!
This book has it all: a small town romance, the disappearance of a best friend, a frantic chase through the South to find her, a crazy ex, a quintessential misunderstanding, a trip to Wishful, Mississippi (where Nolan's popular Wishful series takes place), a cameo from Dr. Audrey Graham (from Nolan's "Camp Firefly Falls: A Second Chance Summer") and, of course, a HEA! Phew!!! No wonder it is my favorite Misfit Inn to date!
If you are a fan of Kait Nolan, you will love this book. If you are new to her and are looking for a good small town romance, look no further. "Until We Meet Again" and "Come a Little Closer" is a perfect way for you to see how wonderful a writer/story-teller Nolan is.
I would definitively recommend this book.

Come a Little Closer is book four in the Men of the Misfit Inn Series a series of interconnected stand-alone’s. It can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone although you might want to pick up the prequel Until We Meet Again that introduces us to Griffin Powell and Samantha Ferguson.
Griffin is Bach home for his brother’s wedding and he is completely taken aback when his wedding partner is no other than a woman he married and divorced in Vegas years ago.
Eight years ago Sam woke up-to divorce papers a note on her pillow saying her husband was re enlisting but he would find her again one day and it’s seems fate has put them together once again. Problem is Griff needs to do some serious grovelling to make up for the Mustafa of walking away all those years ago. He gets the perfect chance when Sam’s best friend appears to go missing and he is asked by Sam to help find her. So will this second chance be the future this couple deserves…..
Come a Little Closer ticked all my boxes and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

If you've read "Until we meet again", you probably wanted to bop Griff upside the head - hard. Now he finally has a chance to redeem himself, and he's giving it his all.
The only thing I didn't find quite convincing was the reason for Jill's radio silence, and Sam folding a bit too easily for my taste.
But all of that pales in the face of the dramatic HEA - no one does it like Kait Nolan!

Great to revisit the Misfit Inn crowd. Sam and Griff meet up again 8 years after a quick Vegas marriage and divorce. This is their story of forgiveness and moving on while supporting mutual friends as they get married. Always good to read how friends look out for each other and are there for one another, such a value in this hard, fast world we live in.

This was a good book, however I cannot lie about being a disappointed. The main issue I had with this book was that I felt like I missed multiple books in the series due to the author including many new characters that it seems like readers should know. From what I could tell, these characters are from the author’s other books. If they are, then I get wanting to get people interested in the side characters stories enough to read other books, however all it ended up doing was making me very confused and frustrated. If those side characters aren’t from other books, then the author just did an awful job at explaining the characters (which is honestly the case even if those characters have their own books). I also found it weird that Sam and Griffin moved so quickly with their relationship once Sam forgave him (which she did very easily and quickly). Not only did it seem rushed but it’s also obvious that Sam didn’t complete trust Griffin (not that I blame her).

Despite not loving this book, I am looking forward to Declan’s story (assuming his story is next).

The conclusion to Griffin and Samantha’s story 8 years after their hasty Vegas wedding and subsequent divorce was filled with past regrets and rebuilding trust between them. I have to admit that if I were in Sam’s shoes I’m not sure I would have been so gracious in my forgiveness. It takes a whole lot of hubris to assume Sam wouldn’t have moved on in the time it took Griff to feel he was worthy of her. I liked their chemistry, their trip to Wishful which holds a dear place in my heart, and loved Amy McFadden’s vocal acting performance.

Likeable characters and a heartwarming story. I have to say I hate surprises and elaborate plans if they have the potential to turn out this way. Why can’t people borrow a phone when they lose theirs? Would it be too much to get just about anyone to look up the hotel number on a computer (or smart phone), and have the hotel pass on a message, since apparently no one remembers phone numbers anymore? Giant plot hole just to ramp up the drama. Not a fan of gratuitous drama!

'A wholesome read from a wholesome author. Thrilled to continue this heart-warming series with this latest instalment, full of everything there is to love about a romance novel and its characters'

Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for sending me an ebook Advanced Reader's Copy for me to read and review!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I've had the absolute pleasure of reading the other three books in this series before in the past, but this is my first time reading one as an ARC so I'm thrilled that I get to see where this next chapter for the Men of the Misfit Inn takes Griffin and Samantha.

It also helps that I adore a Kait Nolan book, and picking one up always guarantees a pleasurable yet wholesome, with a dash of Happily Ever After, without even needing to read the blurb. Definitely a one-click author in my book.

Okay! Onto the real review. Spoiler-free, of course. Don't want to ruin the goodness until you turn/swipe those pages for yourselves, wink wink.

If you've picked up Come A Little Closer as your first introduction into the series and the men and women of the Misfit Inn, fear not. Kait has written it so that you're given a quick reminder of who's who, and who's with who. You'll be caught up before you've finished the first chapter, and all while getting to know Griffin and Samantha if again, its your first time coming across them while they're the main characters.

I highly recommend going back and reading books 1-3 if you're looking for a more in-depth, immersive experience before getting to know Griffin and Samantha. It's worth taking the time to get up to speed before this latest chapter, for want of a word, into the series. Plus, it's more Kait Nolan. What's not to love about more Kait?

Come A Little Closer is a read that is full of those hilariously ill-timed moments, twists and turns that had me smirking, plenty of moments that are well-known within the bookish community as 'swoon-worthy', and of course, the romance. Oh the romance! For being misfits, the men of the misfit inn sure know how to romance a woman and as a result, us as readers.

Griffin by far, has to be my favourite Misfit Man. He's the one that has certainly left the most impressions on me and for sure fits into the role of book boyfriend. He's the ideal book boyfriend but also I can see him being a real-life man instead of a character simply written for the use in a novel. He's genuine, charming, lovable, goofy and an all-round gentleman who I love love love. If I could have more Griffin, I would. Hand on heart, would.

If you're looking for a story that no matter how hard you try and figure things out, or think you know where its going but instead presents you with various twists and turns, Come a Little Closer is the book for you! Boxes were more than ticked, they've got this bibilophile's big bookish approval several times over.

Eagerly awaiting my next Kait Nolan read but until then, it's time to re-read the Men of Misfit Inn from the beginning, all so I can come a little closer, to Come A Little Closer.

5 shining stars!

This book is book four in a series of interconnected standalones. It can be read without reading the other books and ends with a HEA. It is written in third person from an alternating dual POV. There is a prequel, “Until We Meet Again” that is available. Although the prequel is not necessary to enjoy this book, I found that I really enjoyed reading it and having a complete understanding of the history between the characters going into this book. The author is clear that the prequel to this book ends on a cliffhanger and this reader recommends you get both books together and read through them without a break between.
Griffin has grown up a lot in the eight years since the end of the prequel. He has found his way to becoming the man he wanted to be for Samantha. He is strong, kind, loyal, and uber-hot. Samantha has completed her education and moved on to the life she planned. The only thing missing is the man that she loves and the family of her dreams. When they reconnect in their hometown at a friend’s pre-wedding bachelor/bachelorette weekend, they are shocked to see each other again. These two must overcome their past and the hurt and learn to communicate. When they end up spending some time together looking for their missing friend, they finally work through that and can move forward. Their physical chemistry is just as strong and hot as it was in the past. Their friendship is renewed along the way. They are finally able to commit to each other in a way they couldn’t when they were younger, and it is beautiful to read. This steamy read has moments of both heartache and romance. I loved seeing the big former Marine be so incredibly in love and willing to do anything for Samantha. It was 100% swoon worthy. Are things improbable at times? Maybe. However, I loved the way these two find their way back to each other and into a future together that they both dreamed they could have. Second chance is not usually my go-to, but this may be my favorite book of the series.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Come a Little Closer is the fourth full length book in the Men of the Misfit Inn series. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading Sam and Griff’s prequel, Until We Meet Again, first. Samantha and Griffin are both headed home to participate in wedding festivities when they meet each other for the first time in eight years. Their connection is still as strong as ever, but trust has been shattered. With Sam worried about her friend and their relationship budding again, will Griff prove to Sam that he’s worth trusting again and that her love is safe with him?

Oh wow! Ever since I read their prequel, I’ve been dying for their story! I was so intrigued to see how they could fall back in love again, to see how their eight years apart would shape them into the individuals they are now, and I have to admit that I was hooked in this book right from the very first chapter! I didn’t want to put this book down! Sam was so hurt and felt like the romantic part of her heart would never mend, but I loved watching that anger fade and trust tentatively rebuild. Griff had a lot of inner demons he needed to deal with as well, wanting to prove not just to Sam, but to himself, that he was good enough and trustworthy enough and man enough to accept love. I really loved both of their characters. I loved their passion and connection! I loved the ways they needed to overcome a lot of emotions to accept and find their love. Plus, you add in the mystery elements, finding Wishful, and just the overall feel of this book, I just felt like I was swooning and falling in love one chapter after another! I really enjoyed this book! I can’t wait for more in this series and from this author!

After reading Until We Meet Again, the prequel to this story, I've been waiting to see how Sam and Griff's story plays out and Come A Little Closer did not disappoint. The story starts with a trip back to Eden's Ridge and Misfit Inn to catch up with some of the previous couples, which is always fun to see what they've been up to since we last saw them.
Sam's heartbreak was palpable and since I read the prequel I was Team Sam all the way, even knowing everything I did about Griff. I was fully prepared to get my hate on and be mad at him for as long as it took for him to un-break her heart.
Turns out though, that Griff has matured into a fully grown man, one he feels is finally worthy of the woman he placed on a pedestal since high school. So, like Sam, I softened towards the big, gruff man much sooner than I planned to. Not completely though, because Sam's hurt is so on the surface, more so because she didn't know he was out of the military and back home.
But because Griff is the kind of man he is, he steps up when she needs him, even if she doesn't want to need him, and they finally get a chance to talk, to clear the air from the pain caused all those years ago. The chemistry between them is still smoking hot, which you'll know if you read the prequel first, which I highly suggest you do, because it's wonderful and sexy and heartbreaking. Along the way, they both heal and it is such a treat to follow them on the rest of their journey. I had such a fun time reading this story that I didn't want it to end.

Talk about your Second Chances! Sweet, Sassy and a bit suspenseful, Kait Nolan has rolled it all into this magnificent romantic tale.
Samantha is returning to her home town for a pre-wedding bachelor/bachelorette weekend. The idea is for the wedding party to reconnect and stroll down memory lane with the soon to be bride and groom. Samantha is having regrets before arriving. Reminiscing about the not so good old days is not her idea of a glorious weekend. And to top it off, her friend Jill who is her fellow single support person is not there and has not answered her texts, emails or voice messages!
When she arrives at the Inn, the one person she did not expect was there, her ex, Griffin. No one knows of their Vegas wedding and how he broke her heart, leaving her in the hotel with a note and divorce papers to re-enlist in the service.
This reunion is surprising and awkward, but Samantha must keep their past a secret so that her nemesis does not use it as another weapon against her. And where is Jill? Her friend was supposed to be here for support during this extremely emotional time!
Griffin is so full of regret. He loves Samantha dearly but trying to get her to listen and believe him will take time and effort to gain her trust. When Samantha begins a search for Jill, he offers to help her look and puts his military skills and present security company sleuthing to the test.
My heart is still so full of love for these characters and I need to catch up on the preceding stories.

Come A Little Closer is my first read from Kait Nolan and I immediately loved her style of writing. This small town, second chance romance with an edge of some suspense was equally swoony and spicy. I loved Griff and Samantha and their soul deep connection. Definitely an author I will come back to repeatedly.

Samantha reluctantly came back to her home town for a weekend of reunion sort of arranged by her friends who are getting married soon. Little did she know that the blast from the past aka Griffin Powell will be attending it too. The man who left her the day after an impulsive Vegas wedding and joined the Marines. Griff wants a second chance and he may get it as Sam agrees to let him help to find about what happened to another of their friend, Jill.
.
I loved Griffin and Samantha! Griff was the bad boy in school and Sam was the shy nerd but she helped him immensely to get his life back on track. But he also broke her heart. Griff is here for redemption and oh did he grovel or what. His gestures were so sweet and swoony. Samantha is still a bit antisocial but she has developed a fierce side. Their chemistry is still there and they have to take a chance! The adventure they went together gave them the chance to work out their issues and it was so emotional. I loved their crew of awesome friends and I am so excited to read more about them.

Griffin and Sam's second chance is sweet, swoon-worthy, and full of sizzling chemistry all combined with a little bit of mystery trait. But first of all, I recommend you read "Until We Meet Again" first because you would understand Griff and Sam's background better.

I like the story Nolan created because it pulls me in from the beginning. The plot is intriguing because I want to know how Griffin would do to win Sam over and I think Nolan's idea to create a mysterious event to put Griff and Sam together is quite genius. I can feel Sam's heartache after Griff left her so when they meet again, she puts a wall around her heart. I like that Griff is determined to win Sam back and he would do anything to prove it to her that this time he means to stay. I like their relationships with their friends and families. All of those make me feel heartwarming and they're all quite entertaining. Both Griff and Sam have come a long way from their high school time. They are still opposites attraction but Griff is ready for Sam and she is stronger than before. I can't put it down and I finish reading it too early for my liking but I love every minutes I spend reading it. I also like that Nolan links a lot of characters from her other series together in this book because I don't know I miss them that much until I read this. Can't wait for Livia and Declan's story though. Oh, and I can't wait for Ari's story too!

Every time I pick up a book written by this talented author, I know it will be another treasure. This one was just that.
Though not necessary, reading the prequel Until We Meet Again, will enrich the reader’s experience.
Samantha Ferguson and Griffin Powell knew each other in high school . She was his tutor and the boy she had a crush on. But he was the popular bad boy and she the nerd.
Eight years ago they meet again in Vegas. He was now a Marine on leave and she was finishing school. What happened in Vegas , stayed in Vegas and at the end of the weekend, each went their separate ways heartbroken.
They have now returned to their hometown for the bachelorette/bachelor celebration of mutual friends. Neither expecting to see the other. Old hurts resurface but Griff is determined to get Sam to forgive him and hopefully find their HEA. What happens a friend goes missing, and they team up to find her? In doing so, will they realize that the love never vanished and maybe their have a second chance in love and life?
This was a touching, at times heartbreaking , as well as heartwarming story. As well as another wonderful story in this already great series.

Thank you to Booksprout and author Kait Nolan for the advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A new Kait Nolan romance is the ultimate comfort read for me. I love the towns and communities she creates, and the families - both biological or chosen - who live in them. My favorite Misfit Inn couple, Flynn and Pru, make an appearance, along with Ari - who is now 16! Come a Little Closer tells Sam (Samantha) and Griffin’s story, which started in their prequel, Until We Meet Again. You don’t necessarily need to read the prequel to understand what’s happening here, so don’t fret if you haven’t!
This book takes place eight years later, starting at the Misfit Inn for a bachelor/bachelorette party weekend for their friends, Erin and Kendrick. This is a second chance for them and there’s also a bit of a mystery in a missing friend. I could relate a LOT to Sam in many ways - I also tend to be a very cautious person who doesn’t take a ton of risks in life. Though I feel like Sam gets over some things wayyyyyy faster than I ever would, they both work hard to get their HEA. And the bonus epilogue (linked at the end if you sign up for the email newsletter, which I already get and enjoy!) is a great glimpse into the future.

Kait Nolan has created another delightful couple that readers will want to hear more from. Definitely take the time to read the prequel to their story. How two young people with secret crushes on each other end up married and divorced all in one whirl wind weekend. Come a Little Closer brings Samantha and Griff back together 8 years after that quickie Vegas wedding and divorce. Both are older and possibly wiser, but the reader is drawn right into their feelings for each other. I really liked the flow of the story and how Griff really "sees" Samantha. He takes the time to understand her needs.
It felt like there were a lot of teasers for potential future stories in the mix. I loved the stop in Wishful and the cameo by the Casserole Patrol.

I did feel like there were some things in the story that could have been explored more. The bar connection was one thing and as a nemesis, the whole Cressida situation didn't feel like much of an issue to the story except for some background,

Over all I enjoyed Griff and Samantha's story, and can't wait to read more about the people associated with the Misfit Inn.

Finally together

I loved Sam and Griff’s second chance healing romance. This is a heartwarming, swoony, and spicy romance with relatable and likeable characters with just a touch of angst and mystery. Sam is a college professor and is back in her small hometown of Eden’s Ridge to take part in a bachelor/bachelorette weekend. Griff is a former Marine who is back in Eden’s Ridge for the same reason. Sam tutored Griffin in HS and 8 years ago they had a brief Vegas marriage which ended when Griff decided to reenlist in the Marines. They have not seen or spoken since and are both surprised to see each other in Eden’s Ridge. Their true connection and chemistry is hard to ignore despite the distance, time and pain. When her friend and fellow bridesmaid, Jill, appears to be missing, Sam to decides to investigate and Griff insists on protecting her. There are some hurdles and baggage unpacking to get to their HEA but the investigation was a great vehicle to get them there. I loved it. As always with this author and her heartwarming small town books, the story was well written and included realistic dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in this series. 4.5 stars.

The moment I read the blurb, I was intrigued about this story, but I just didn't see it coming to be honest. It's the story of Griff & Sam, who have quite the history that isn't resolved so it was emotional when they came face to face a while later. They had secret feelings for each other back in school, but neither were brave enough to do anything about it. Things took a turn when they ran into each other in Vegas, so they ended up getting married, but by the next morning, he was gone & she was left with divorce papers. You can only imagine how that messed with her, and I was pretty pissed off at him because he had ample time to fix things but he hadn't. By the time they ran into each other again, it was for a fun weekend before a couple of their friends' wedding, he wanted to make things right, but she really wasn't having any of it. This story really messed with my heart as I was totally on Sam's side because he made a promise that he didn't fulfill, but luckily for him, Sam is a bit nicer than I am. To see if they have any shot at a future together, you know what to do since I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from Booksprout for giving my two cents. I love Kait's books and they make you cry. We mey Sam and Griff in previous stories bit what their mutual friends don't know is that they have a history beyond high school tutoring. There's a reason Sam hates weddings and it's bc of Griff. Their cute meet in Vegas before Sam started grad school and Griff re-enlisting got the ball rolling on what their true feelings are one another. Heartbreak was a result. Fast forward 8 years and there's another wedding and both are in the wedding party unbeknownst to them. Sam can't believe het eyes.. Griff is at the bachelor/Bachelorette weekend. Her heart still goes pitter patter but it also still long for him. Griff is shocked to see Sam as he was worried she'd gotten remarried and had a family. Their mutual friends have them teamed up in the wedding party since their both single. Will Griff be able to explain what happened all those years ago and will Sam listen? Will Sam give her heart again to the man she has only ever loved? Another fantastic read by Kait.

Wow!! The wait was worth it!! I enjoyed the prequel, “Until We Meet Again”, so much, that I read it again before starting “Come A Little Closer” — even though I was dying to hear the rest of the story!! Although there’s an 8-year gap between the two stories, the warmth and heat (yes, they’re different) of the first tale was the perfect catapult into the second. Absolutely delicious!!! Griff was not only hot, but solid this time around - with no doubt that he could give Sam the love and commitment she deserved. Sam, the injured party from round 1, is swept into his warm, caring passion, when he stands by her in her concern for her missing friend and launches a search with Sam. This is a romantic small town tale with a bit of big city lights tossed in. If you’re new to Nolan, welcome and savor this author!! For those of us who’ve followed Kait’s storytelling all along, this is undoubtedly a new favorite!!

Another good romance in the Misfit Inn series. Griff and Sam had a past that did not end the way she wanted (or he wanted), and that had left both of them hurting. Now without any of them knowing they would meet at the wedding of their friends at the Misfit Inn. Their friends could sense that something had happened between them but nobody knew what. Sam also would have to meet her nemesis in high school and to make things even more difficult Sam and Griff were placed in rooms facing each other. Will they be able to rekindle the relationship they had in the past? How will their friends and family react? How will the search for Jill help to pull them together? The story has a lot of action, romance and is fast-paced, and all of these are written with humor, a little steam, and jealousy, and much love as all Kait stories are made.
