My heart cried by the end of this book. What a beautiful story and poetic writing that wasn’t over the top flowery but just right and hit me where it hurts but in a good, thoughtful way.
I understood Tres on such a deep level, her fears and hopes and longing heart and love of fiction really spoke to me and made me feel seen, especially when she said she read to survive. Just, yes, girl, same. I really liked Charles too and seeing them both grow individually and as a couple was so sweet and wonderful to witness.
I’m not someone who is drawn to pirate stories as a buzz word so that part had no effect on my enjoyment, same with the time travel, but I did like what the author did with both of these elements.
This is a slow, thoughtful story with a sweet romance that I really enjoyed even though it had little to no action, but, hey, that just goes to show that I CAN like slow books as long as I can connect with the story and characters. So see, there’s hope for me yet. 😜
