Silver Harbor #3

Maybe We Won't

Rate this book
A sexy and soul-stirring novel about love, family, and rediscovering what matters most by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe We Will.

When workaholic Boston attorney Deirdra de Messiéres is passed over for a well-deserved promotion, she takes a two-month hiatus to show her boss just how much he needs her and heads home to Silver Island. But beyond seeing her sisters happy, home is not where Deirdra’s heart is. She has no interest in their family restaurant, the Bistro, or reliving hurtful childhood memories, and absolutely no interest in spending a single second with Josiah “Jagger” Jones, the Bistro’s too-laid-back musician and chef. Sure, the hippie is hot, but he drives her nuts. The guy lives in a van with his dog, and he can’t even commit to a solid work schedule. To make matters worse, he’s always around. She needs to get off the island, stat.

Jagger has overcome his own personal trials to place stock in life’s family, friends, peace…and if he has his way, one positively beautiful, absolutely uptight attorney. Jagger knows he’s the perfect person to help Deirdra deal with her hurtful past and find her way back to being happy.

A chance encounter leads to deep conversation, and night after liberating night, Deirdra lets down her guard. But neither has plans to stay on Silver Island. Free-spirited Jagger has wanderlust, and Deirdra has a career to return to. They’re on different paths, and plans for a future together don’t stand a chance. But when has anything gone according to plan?

"Life is what we choose to make it."
I loved both previous books in this series, but this one was special because I could absolutely relate to Deirdra.
Maybe We Won't is an emotional rollercoaster that left me crying (I bet Melissa's not even sorry for it - to be fair, I’m not either!), but also made me believe and soothed my soul.

"I fucking love your laugh. I want to bottle it up so I can hear it all the time."
If you've read the other books, you've already had glimpses of Jagger and Deirdra. They couldn't be more different. She's a lawyer, a city girl, a planner, someone who has to have everything organized and cannot go with the flow to save her life. Jagger lives in an RV with his dog. He's a cook and a musician, and he goes wherever the wind takes him. They're both generous, kind people, but they handle their lives in totally different ways.

"Just be with me. Don’t try to control it. Let our bodies do what they want."
When Deirdra faces a difficult situation at work and takes some time off, coming back to Silver Island to be with her sisters, Jagger's there. There's always been something simmering between them, something she's tried to deny as she deflected his attempts to charm her, but that's becoming harder and harder. Because Jagger is... well, Jagger is pretty much the guy she needs.
Maybe she's just not able to see it yet.

"I have no idea who I am when I'm with you."
Deirdra is facing some demons from her past. She is strong, she's always been strong, because that's what she's had to be. All the time. She's had to deal with an alcoholic mother, and help raise her sister. She doesn't go anywhere or do anything without a plan. Without knowing what she's getting herself into. Because she needs that control in her life, and she needs to know she won't lose it again, and that she won't ever depend on anyone.
So she focuses on work to essentially escape life.

"It feels good to do nothing with you."
When her workaholic self clashes against Jagger's go-with-the-flow personality, you feel the tension between them. You know how good they can be for, and with, each other. And you're rooting for them. It's really the small things that get to you, and the details. What he helps her face, how much he supports her, how he shows her it's OK to just be in the moment, without having to think about what comes next.
To enjoy life, to enjoy them.

"Take a leap of faith. For once in your life, follow your heart instead of your head."
I want to say this is a grumpy/sunshine story, because it is, but it also isn't. Deirdra had to adapt her life and become someone else because of certain circumstances. She's had to put her heart on the back burner. But the little girl who believes in love, in happily ever afters, and in chasing dreams is still there.
All she needs is someone to help her realize that.

"I wish I could kiss you for the rest of my life."
We're all different people throughout our lives, and we change and adapt because of it. Sometimes for the better, many times for the worst. Because we're afraid of living, and getting hurt.
Meeting someone who can see who you really are underneath it all is a rare thing. If you do, grab on to them. It'll definitely be worth it.

Maybe We Won’t by Melissa Foster, the third book in the Silver Harbor series, gave me all the feels. The series follows three sisters, Abby, Cait and Deidre. Having read and enjoyed the books 1 and 2, I eagerly awaited the release of Deirdra’s story. I knew her story would be special, and Foster delivered as expected.

Summary

Attorney at law and Deidra Messieres, after giving so much of herself to her job while woefully neglecting her family and missing out on a social life, was overlooked for a promotion. Silver Harbor is the last place she wants to be, as it holds many painful memories. Memories she wishes would stay buried. But she came anyway as she wanted to prove to her boss, he couldn’t function without her.

She has no interest in getting involved in the family business. Neither is she interested in getting to know the drifter/ hippie who claimed to know her mother. After all, they have nothing in common. She’s a planner and workaholic, while he moves to the beat of his own drum. Fate, as always, had other plans, and soon Deirdra and Jagger would find themselves on a journey of friendship, romance, healing, forgiveness, and new beginnings.

Deirdra may be a confident Attorney, but when it came her personal life, she was the Queen of insecurities. She grew with the progression of the story. I secretly cheered for her with each page turn. It warmed my heart when she loosened the chains of unforgiveness and embraced all life offered.

Jagger piqued my interest after meeting him in the previous books. Well, Foster satisfied my curiosity in Maybe We Won’t. Learning about his past, his family and the events which shaped his personality and his life choices was intriguing and enlightening. One can see why Deirdra found it hard to resist his charms.

I loved their romance, which was passionate, warm, sweet, authentic, and brimming with emotions. There was no faking the sizzling chemistry between them. I have to say they are my favourite couple from this series.

The camaraderie between friends and family added depth to the story. I loved how the author emphasized autism and the challenges faced by parents and siblings of the child diagnosed as being on the spectrum.

︎Maybe We Won’t delivered a romance to warm your heart, fill you with hope and leave you with a smile at the end. If you love the opposites attract trope, then ︎Maybe We Won’t  will feed your desires.

I enjoyed listening to both narrators. Virgina Rose is new to me. I have listened to Aaron Shedlock before. Virginia did a wonderful job bringing Deirdra to life. Aaron was definitely the voice of Jagger. Their voices were distinct and done well.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for you

First Impressions
Maybe We Won’t is the finale in the Silver Harbor trilogy (or at least I am pretty sure its the final book) and I have to say that I am completely impressed with this book and definitely deserves the high ratings. Melissa Foster is becoming such a favorite author of mine, and if you are a fan of small town romances, then this is a must read author for you. The way that she beautifully balances out the charm of a small town, with the humor and spice but also delivering in the solid relationships that easily captivate the reader is so satisfying. I always know going into a Melissa Foster what I will receive and I am completely in love with what was delivered here. I do think that this one is the best of the series and I never thought any book could get better than the first book “Maybe We Will” but somehow this book had so much character building and unique set up with our pair and had a almost magical nature feel to it that it just worked for me in every way. I am so impressed with what Melissa Foster was able to cultivate in this book and it was everything I could have hoped for and more.

“Take a leap of faith. For once in your life, follow your heart instead of your head.”

Summary
Maybe We Wont begins with our heroine, the oldest of the sisters, who is a workaholic attorney, Deirdra has taken a hiatus from her job and come back home to Silver Island. Deirdra is not as excited to be home as her sisters were, Silver Island is not a comfortable place for her as it brings back some bad uncomfortable memories for her, especially in regards to her relationship with her mother which whom she has bitter feelings toward. But she most especially has zero interest in developing anything with Josiah “Jagger”, who she likes to label “the hippie” because she fears what he can bring to her life. Deirdra is the type of woman that likes everything in order and in place, and doesn’t understand any version of a laid-back lifestyle. But it’s not until Jagger starts to dig deep with Deirdra and has her forget about her rules and organization, that she starts to truly feel and experience life at the moment. As Jagger and Deirdra start building on their relationship, Deirdra knows that even though it’s just supposed to be a fling, it’s becoming far too real for her….but will Deirdra be able to be content with her strict orderly life now that Jagger has shown her a different path to living…

He said there’s only one place where a person is irreplaceable, and that’s in the hearts of their loved ones.

What I Loved
Maybe We Won’t was such a magical experience to read this book with. And I have to say I am so happy that I decided to listen to this one as a narration instead of reading it physically, and this was the best decision that I could have made. I knew very quickly that this would be a book I would fall in love with. There is something so addicting about opposites attract and with a mix of enemies to lovers, I was adoring the bantering that plays on between Jagger and Deirdra. They have such instant chemistry and Deirdra is so resistant to Jagger’s lifestyle and charm which only made the story so much more entertaining. I really related to Deirdra in many ways, especially as the older sister, I really understood why she was the way she is, when you are the oldest child, you learn to grow up super FAST and I connected with her character in this aspect. There is such vulnerability within the heroine’s character, you see that she hides it beneath a tough exterior. You can just sense from the beginning that she wants to fly free, but her upbringing and nature restrict her from embracing the inner child she was never able to explore with. Jagger is such a light and carefree hero, he sees the beauty in the moment, and we see how he connects with Deirdra and helps her slowly learn to shed her restrictions and embrace the woman she was born to be. Their romance was so endearing, seeing these small moments of intimacy and breathes such life into the story. The setting is beautifully captured here and from beginning to end I was fully invested into the romance.

“If there’s one thing I’m learning from you, it’s that life is what we make it, and sometimes that means reimagining parts of ourselves.”

What I Struggled With
Nothing, honestly I don’t think there was anything I had issues with. Maybe a bit of a longer epilogue but the romance and story were 100% real and satisfying

The Narration
This is a duo POV narration and so well done, I don’t see this type of POV used very often by this author, but very well done by both narrators in showcasing the different personalities of each character. They really gave the right voice for both Jagger and Deirdra. They used the correct emotional inflections and have nice voices that are lovely to listen to. The narrators are highly engaging in how they narrate the story that you will be quickly pulled into it.

Overall View
I found Maybe We Won’t to be a stunning finale to a captivating series that warmed my heart in its real voice that speaks to the heart of the reader. It’s a story that will have you living easily in the moment, fighting for their happy ever after and be brought to the emotional peak that is so effortlessly penned by this author! A PERFECT GEM OF A SUMMER READ!

We don’t stop loving people because they’re hurting or they do things to try to push us away. That’s when we hold them tighter, because that’s when they need us the most.

Another sweet escape into the world of Silver Harbor! Maybe We Won’t is yet another heartfelt and emotional story from the charming Melissa Foster, the story just as dreamy as the cover. In this Silver Harbor outing we get the story of Deirdr and Jagger- and oh they are so great together.

Deirdra is, the workaholic sister, home at Silver Island to nurse her pride (and stick it to her boss a bit) after missing out on a much deserved promotion. While she’s happy to be reunited with her family, she doesn’t love this small town life she once escaped, and she doesn’t love being around Jagger Jones, the aloof and relaxed chef at her family’s restaurant. A workaholic and and free spirit- what a delicious match!

This is a story about figuring out what you want in life, and about realizing that you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover. Both Jagger and Deirdra have had their own adversity and trials- and each has just manifested the impact of their own way of coping. Jagger has found peace in his freedom, focusing on the parts of life that matter most, and rebuking the rest. And Deirdra has avoided the memories of this place, has put all of herself in her work. At first she wants to avoid Jagger, but eventually she realizes there’s a real connection, and meaningful conversations develop into a powerful relationship, one where Jagger helps push her out of her head, helps see the parts of her being she’s not yet thought about, or that she’s actively ignored. But what will that mean for their very different life paths- is there a common ground that lasts beyond their stay at Silver Island?

I love watching characters find themselves as the result of finding authentic connections with another, especially unexpected ones, and I loved seeing Deirdra find her truest self and see beyond her baggage. Jagger truly sees her, and the ways in which he challenges but supports her, connects with her and hears her are oh so very dreamy. And, as always, we have the great family dynamic Melissa writes so deftly- family, love, and purpose. It’s the Melissa Foster full experience.

Melissa Foster does it again, another amazing read!

I always enjoy reading one of Melissa Foster's books because I know I will dive into a world with great friends and family that you can't help but wish you were a part of and what makes them even more special is that there are times you can relate to one of the characters, and for me it was Deirdra de Messiéres. There are a lot of things we have in common and quite honestly I don't know if that's a good thing or not....maybe I need to take an island vacation and see. 😉

Deirdra has disliked Jagger from the moment she met him, and it's because she thinks he doesn't take anything seriously. Well, does she have it all wrong! I absolutely loved getting to know Jagger better his carefree attitude and love for music are just a couple of things that make this "hippie boy" so charming, what really endeared him to me was his dedication and support to his brother who is Autistic.

Can a workaholic and a person with wanderlust find happiness together, well there's only one way to find out. Grab a copy of MAYBE WE WON'T today!

This story is filled with all the feels, luckily I didn't find myself crying as much as I have in previous books by Melissa Foster but this one definitely pulled at the heartstrings. If you enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, Opposites Attract Romances, or slight Age Gap Romances (only 5 years) I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

Maybe We Won’t is book #3 of the Silver Harbor contemporary romance series.
This is the story of Deirdre, sister to Abby and Cait. Full of anger after being over-looked for a promotion at work, Deirdre has come to Silver Island for a break. Anger and attitude emit from her like steam from a hot pie, but Jagger Jones, the casual hippy chef at Abby’s bistro, can see beyond Deirdre’s harsh persona.

Jagger was friends with Ava, the girls mother. He understands some of what their childhood spent looking after an alcoholic mother was like. He’s determined to show Deidre how she can release her emotions and set herself free of all the built up hurt.

This is a lovely ‘opposites attract’ story which weaves it way through the book. But beneath the surface thread there is much more to this novel. There’s a serious side which involves autism and another theme about sourcing organic food from farm-to-table; both of these added depth and interest to this book.

I really enjoyed this, the characters invited you in to be with them and the escapism reading worked it’s magic on me.

5 Star Review of Maybe We Won’t (Silver Harbor #3) by Melissa Foster

It was great to be back on Silver Island for the third book in Melissa Foster’s Silver Harbor series. Maybe We Won’t was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but be drawn into.

This is Deirdra de Messiéres and Josiah “Jagger” Jones story and was an entertaining story that ticked the boxes for me. Returning home to Silver Harbor for a break from her job, Deirdra is annoyed by the chef/musician at her families bistro.

However despite her feelings there is chemistry between them that is intense and they are drawn to one another. Both Jagger and Deirdra have baggage and could not be more opposite and yet as a couple they really are suited.

Can the laid back chef help bring some fun to workaholic Deirdra ‘s life? The banter between them is witty and as they they get to know one another the attraction ignites.
Deirdra and Jagger are meant to be together and I was cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they both deserved.

Maybe We Won’t was the third book in the Silver Harbor series by Melissa Foster. It was the conclusion for the third sister, Deidre.

Deidre was basically abandoned as a child. Not physically but emotionally. Before her father died, they were a normal and happy family filled with love. When her dad died, her mother fell apart into alcohol and never recovered. Deidre learned to care for herself and then got out of Silver Harbor as fast as she could. Now a Type A successful lawyer, she was an emotionally closed off work-a-holic. Work was literally everything to her and although Jagger the hippie was hot, he was everything she wasn’t and never wanted to be. He lived life without a plan and floated from place to place as he felt the need to roam.

Foster took us on a ride through both backstories. Deidre was exactly as we thought with her true self hidden but Jagger was much deeper than expected. Foster peeled back the layers and exposed the raw emotion. It was very emotional and serious while Jagger forced (in his layed back hippie way) Deidre to slow down, feel and address the pain. And true to Foster, it was well written and filled with many life lessons.

Another spectacular 5 stars read by Melissa Foster ♡︎

Reading this book was an absolute joy, it was so beautiful and heartwarming I loved every part of it. The perfect opposites attract love story.

“If there's one thing I'm learning from you, it's that life is what we make it, and sometimes that means reimagining parts of ourselves.”

I loved reading about Dierdra rediscovering herself and reconnecting with her sisters, I love these women so much, they are awe-inspiring. Dierdra has weathered so many storms and hid her feelings between a hard exterior and seeing how she is liberating herself with Jagger showing her what she refused to see was amazing.

Didi and Jagger's story is emotional, remarkable, sensational and breathtaking. 😍

I loved visiting Silver Island again and seeing lots of the characters again, this is one of my favourite things about Melissa's books, that we always get to visit our favourite characters in newer books.

I can't choose just one favourite part of the book, I had a favourite scene in almost every chapter (even the ones that had me sobbing so hard), but there's a scene in the end with the sisters and their partners that I loved soo much. ❤️

I also want to add that I appreciate all the research Melissa did to write Gabe's character.

There's a lot more I want to add but I am keeping this review spoilers free.

Maybe We Won’t by Melissa Foster is the third and final book in the Silver Harbor trilogy.

I’ve read all of them now and enjoyed them equally.

Deidra was such an intriguing character for me in the previous books.

A turbulent past, makes her staying away from her hometown on the island. But one day everything changed, and she's back.

This story is much more emotional and showcases the opposite family dynamics.

Jagger is a spirit free soul that will show her that life is much more interesting and worth living when you let go of the past and just live in the moment.

I loved this book the most and the chemistry, tension and emotions were felt throughout the pages.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
I couldn't wait for Deirdra's story, she was the one that had to raise her little sister Abbie when their mom fell apart after their Dad died. Being the workaholic attorney from Boston who got passed over for a promotion she deserved, Deirdra decided it was time to take some time off. Maybe travel and let her company see that they made a mistake and will want her to take the job she deserves.
When she gets to Silver Island, the place I live in, in my mind, and meets Jagger, she doesn't realize that he is the one person that can derail her plans, mind, and heart.
I loved the way Jagger pushed Deirdra just a little out of her comfort zone and the way they bantered with each other. They were the perfect couple and it made for the perfect story for Deirdra.
As with any of this author's stories, they are intertwined in some way and you can read them as standalone are all together. It really doesn't matter, you will love them all. This author is an automatic yes for me when there is a new one pop up on the review list, and I am ready for another when I finish this one. So I hope you enjoy this one as much as I loved it.

KINDLE / PAPERBACK / AMAZON / APPLE / AUDIBLE

Deirdra is finally taking some time off from her job as a workaholic lawyer. She's back in town on their small island after having been overlooked for a promotion, and she's fretting. Why? She's chafing at having to be away from the city, she's constantly having to be around too hot hippie (her word not mine) Jagger, and she hates being in the same spot that holds so many bad memories of her mother. But when she finds herself falling into Jagger's orbit, will the fact that their fling has an expiration date be enough to save her heart from breaking?

Jagger likes getting under Deirdra's skin a little too much. He can't seem to help it, it makes him incredibly aroused to see her eyes flashing irritation at him. Even negative attention from the uptight but beautiful lawyer makes him happy. He'd love to see her with her guards lowered, having fun with him. Will she ever let him into her heart, even just a little? Can he convince her to go with the flow and give into the feelings he knows are there underneath her put together exterior?

Just a bit of forewarning here - grab a box of tissues before reading, because you'll need it once Deirdra starts digging into her issues. I was incredibly proud of her as she worked through them, as she grew far more than I ever imagined she would. Her and Jagger's story is heartbreaking in places, humorous and sweet in places, and has a lot of heart and serious chemistry. The whole crew plus some others from different series are there, including Jagger's brother Gabe, whose character is written with sensitivity. I love this small island world Melissa has created, and cannot wait for the next Silver Harbor resident to fall in love.

4.5 stars--MAYBE WE WON’T is the third instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult SILVER HARBOR erotic, romance series-one of the many spin offs from the author’s Love in Bloom Series. This is twenty-five year old, chef and musician Josiah ‘Jagger’ Jones, and thirty year old attorney Dierdra de Messieres’s story line. MAYBE WE CON’T can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jagger and Dierdra) MAYBE WE WON’T focuses on the building romance and relationship between twenty-five year old, chef and musician Josiah ‘Jagger’ Jones, and thirty year old attorney Dierdra de Messieres. Several months earlier Dierdra’s alcoholic mother died, and our heroine struggled in the aftermath, discovering her mother had a secret that was about to be exposed. Fast forward to present day wherein Dierdra is passed over for a promotion at the law firm, and our heroine embarks on a two month hiatus back home in Silver Island where our heroine will discover there is more to life than working hard for someone else. Enter chef and musician Jagger Jones, and the man with whom Dierdra will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dierdra and Jagger, and the potential fall-out as their time together comes to a close.

Dierdra de Messieres had left Silver Island in the hopes to never return. Having lived through the loss of her father, and her mother’s spiral into alcoholism, Dierdra’s memories of the past are emotional and heart breaking. But Didi never expected to find herself falling for a man whose life is mostly lived on the road, a life Dierdra would never consider for herself. Spending time in Silver Island, preparing for her sister’s engagement party, Dierdra would find herself facing the past, a past she had pushed behind, and refused to relive. Josiah ‘Jagger’ Jones has always wanted to be a musician but life had other plans including the struggles of his brother who battled autism for as long as he could remember.Jagger had never intended to settle down or stay in one place forever thus working seasonal jobs as a chef then heading back on the road when the weather changed. Falling for Dierdra de Messieres was never in the cards but Jagger’s heart wanted something more than a summer fling with the woman with whom he had fallen in love.

The relationship between Jagger and Dierdra is one of immediate attraction but Dierdra struggles with Jagger’s lack of permanence, and his need to move on whenever the urge hit him hard. Dierdra knew her time and Jagger’s time in Silver Island was coming to a close but our heroine never expected to fall for a man who lifestyle was completely different than her own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

As per Melissa Foster’s style, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar characters having crossed over from the previous instalments as well as several of the author’s related series. We are reintroduced to Dierdra’s sisters Cait and Abby, as well as many of the locals who live and work in and around Silver Island.

MAYBE WE WON’T is a story of family and friendships, relationships and struggles, acceptance and recognition, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is emotional, entertaining and consuming; the characters are tenacious and dynamic; the romance is seductive and hot.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is book 3 in the Silver Harbour series, but as any Melissa foster reader knows, her books all interlink and are so much the richer for it. I am a huge fan, and greatly enjoy feeling like I am meeting up with old friends on a regular basis through these books!

So far two of the sisters have had their story and found their HEA, but Deirdra left the island as soon as she could, and really hates even making a short visit. However, passed over for a promotion she felt she deserved, she decides to show the law firm she works for that they need her, and takes a two month sabbatical. Inevitably she goes to visit her sisters, and decides she will have to cope with Island life until work calls her back in desperation.

So begins a truly wonderful love story, full of elements which have been building over the previous books - she is the only one not to have yet opened the letter left for her by her mother before she died. She also spends time visiting with the women who took on the role of Mothers to her when her own checked out after the death of her father. She finally takes the time to look back from the viewpoint of an adult, not a child who had to behave like the adult. As this happens to us at the same time, it is hugely moving and very powerful.

And all the time there is the niggling feeling that hippy chef Jagger is getting under her skin. His complete opposite way of life to hers annoys her, his chilled manner, his interest in her, his attempts to make her happy ... she just doesn't get it, and it causes her to feel, something she avoids as much as possible.

I had thought that Cait's story must be the saddest, but actually Deirdra's was more so - because having to grow up so young, and never get to process her own losses, made her less able to cope with anything good. Jagger through his knowledge of her Mum, and her finally reading her letter makes for some tissue-needing moments, but they are all so worth it for the new Deirdra happiness that follows.

Another beautiful, moving and delicious love story, thank you Melissa Foster!

Maybe We Won't (Silver Harbor #3) by Melissa Foster
4 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Talk about alcoholic parents
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads. All typos from this copy, I assume, will be edited before the final version.

This is Didi's story. You've seen her sisters both find happiness, but Didi has always held back. The protector of her sister, Abby, Didi had to grow up very young. When her dad died, something broke in her mom too and her mom never recovered. Now, as an adult, Didi has learned to always rely on herself and never let a man break her. She has seen first hand what that can do to a person.

When Didi is in need of a break, she heads to her sisters. Now that her sister Cait is on the island too, it's always a family reunion when Didi goes back. But, the island makes Didi itchy and while she knows why, it still makes her mad that she can't just enjoy.

Jagger is the local who is easy going and never needs a plan. He's known as the local hippie and wears that badge proudly. He works when he needs to and can leave at a moment's notice. But, underneath that exterior, Jagger has a life that most don't know about. With a brother who is on the autism spectrum, Jagger wants to make sure that he's always reachable for his brother. His family has worked hard to help his younger brother feel accepted. Also, while Jagger might be the resident hippie now, he wasn't always that way. He sees a little of himself - his old self in Didi and wants to help her break those chains. Jagger also knows that deep pain that Didi's mom caused since he was a friend of Didi's mom before she passed.

At points, this story was a little drawn out and long. But, at the heart of this story is love that not most find. It's a kind of love that consumes the pages and the reader. You will fall in love with Didi and Jagger, just as they fall in love too. The sandy days and the sad ones, the happy laughter and the giggles will all be heard well within your imagination. Foster does a great job at creating the scene that feels like you're right there with the characters. It's a love story that most dream of and one you will love!

Deirdra is the workaholic grump that has pushed herself further and further to climb the corporate ladder. Her life hasn't been an easy one, growing up with an alcoholic mother she was tasked with raising her sister. They made it through and came out stronger on the other side, but Deidra got lost along the way. She's always putting work above her family and when she's passed over for a promotion she's come to realize that she's been giving her all to something that will never love her back. She's put stock in her life since coming back home and she's ready to make changes and she's met the perfect person to help her...Jagger. He is the sunshine she needed in her life to help her finally live it. He pulls her out of her shell and gives her the safe place to be herself finally after all this time. While she puts a facade on for the world, she's always been the little girl who dresses up with tablecloth skirts. And while we see Deidra come out of her shell we also get insights into Jagger's life and his challenges he's faced. He grew up with a younger autistic brother that has shaped his world. He lives his life moving around, not being tied to one place, but he's always been available to play for his brother. This story is about finding your home, learning to find your happiness and acceptance, and finding the person who makes you their world. Such a beautiful story with wonderful character development from start to finish.

MAYBE WE WON’T is the third book in the Silver Harbor series. I’ve always been a big fan of Melissa Foster’s small-town romances, so I was looking forward to this one.

In this book, we have Dierdra who has taken some time off work to return to Silver Harbor. Despite her family’s restaurant, Dierdra doesn’t have much interest in it. Or the hippie-like musician and chef there.

Jagger and Dierdra are very different from each other and I think that’s why I was a little skeptical about their romance. I couldn’t see how the two could work it out. Jagger has too much of a laidback style that it definitely conflicts with Dierdra’s personality. But because of the setting and the other characters, I do think that Foster made it work in the end.

I enjoy Foster’s writing because it’s simply and easy. It’s really the perfect style for small town romances, so when you pair an unlikely couple together, that’s where the interest comes. While not my favorite of the series, I did enjoy reading it. So if you’re in the mood for an opposite-attract story, then I think MAYBE WE WON’T fits the bill.

Whoever invented the saying OPPOSITES ATTRACT, I'm sure they had Deirdra and Jagger in mind.
These two couldn't be more different even if they tried. She was a no-nonsense workaholic and he was a free spirit not wanting to put roots. She had a lot of unresolved issues from her past that kept preventing her from moving on. She has buried her hurts so deep it seems impossible for her to move on with her life. Enters Jagger who manages to break through her wall and shows her that there is more to life than 80 hours workdays. The more time they spend together, the more she realizes that she has been hiding for far too long and with his help she can finally see what makes her really happy.

It was a pleasure to see Deirdra transforming before my eyes and seeing her fall in love with Jagger. Hopefully this series continues because I've grown quite fond of this little island and its residence and am looking forward to reading more of their shenanigans.

Deidra left Silver Island to pursue a career. Now, she is a workaholic and slightly on the grump side. Jagger is a free spirit, full of sunshine and light. The two of them are opposites, yet together they balance each other out.

I really loved Jagger and of course, Dolly. He had always heard stories about Deidra from her mother, but the woman he is face to face with now is lost and he is the perfect person to help her find herself again and live. Plus, his family, especially his brother Gabe….it’s such a special and sweet relationship they have. I loved seeing Deidra open up and actually enjoy life again.

Jagger and Deidra are not lacking when it comes to chemistry. The two of them are really heating up the pages. I loved their story, the growth of these characters and all the sweet family moments that occurred.

If you’re looking for an opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, small town romance check this one out.

A wonderful escape!
The story is about Deirdra and Jagger. Deirdra goes to Silver Lake for a break from her life after being passed over for a promotion yet again and Jagger is the hippie chef at her sister's café. These two couldn't be more opposite and yet they make a sweet couple.
I liked that they each had to deal with their trauma and personal baggage throughout the book. The characters felt like they could be real people. I liked how the baggage wasn't tiptoed around or dealt with in a way that made it feel like the writer was checking a box. The issues are a core part of the story.
The pacing could be a bit slow sometimes.
The ending was heartwarming and well deserved.
Would definitely recommend if you're a fan of opposites attract or small town romances.

I took the time to read the previous two book is this series and was glad I did to follow the lives of three sisters after their mother passes.
In this third instalment we see Dierdra a workaholic who values here worth through those long hours at a law firm trying to prove herself , after losing out to a gentleman outside her company for a higher position in the firm she takes a hiatus and heads home to help her sisters out and is hopeful her boss realizes how much she is needed. Life takes a slight turn when “ the hippie chef and musician “ who is working at her sisters cafe decides to get under her skin showing her that their is more to life than working. I enjoyed their story to find one anouther . I loved the farm to fork farms and restaurants were part of the story along with a brother with autism. So me great topics that should be talked about more often.
It’s a great romance story with some steamy scenes.

I will be looking to read more from this author in future .

I received a free copy from NetGalley and all opinions are my own .

I would recommend this series and author to friends and my book club

I’m a little peeved I didn’t go back to buy book 1 and 2 This was a fantastic book. You can rely the author's synopsis in the first few chapters to catch up on the prior books, but it would be fun to read them.

The family aspect is so strong and endearing. The sisters are similar in a lot of ways. The differences are sort of big, one being involved in the Bistro (Abby), cooking and serving up great food and the other a lawyer (Deidra).

In between hanging out with the all around hippie hottie Jagger, Deidre deals with her issues. One is the loss of her mother. She learns that Jagger was close with her mother, this aspect comes into play in a big way. When you are dealing with the loss, hurt and anger of a loved one's death the author brilliantly uses Jagger to lighten the load. In addition to Jagger's suaveness the chain of gossip is a hoot! The people, shall I say women, of Silver Island have enough time to start the funniest rumor text chain ever. This is pure comic relief. I honestly think this was the best part for me.

There is no place like home!

I’ve enjoyed this series from Melissa Foster following three sisters who live on an island off the coast of Massachusetts. Two were raised together and only learned of another sister after the death of their alcoholic mother. This can be read as a stand alone but is best enjoyed in order. Deirdra is the one who had to become an adult at age 11 and take care of her mom and younger sister. She has always been an achiever and security is very important to her. After being passed over for a promotion at her corporate lawyer job in Boston she takes time off to spend with her sisters. There she begins a flirtation and then a hot and steamy fling with Jagger, the 25 year old, part time chef and musician that lives in an RV with his dog Dolly. I like sensible Deirdra and understand her character. Jagger has more going for him than meets the eye. I was going to be disappointed if Deirdra had to change her personality to fit into his life. And happily the author works a good balance. A good conclusion to the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Monlake for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe We Won't is the story of Deirdra de Messeires, a successful attorney who has no interest in returning to her home of Silver Island, and Josiah "Jagger" Jones, a man with strong ties to his family but an eagerness to roam.

Deirdra has been passed over for a promotion at work, causing her to take a 2 month hiatus and come home to Silver Island. While there, she devotes herself to being a better sister to Cait and Abby, but always plans to leave right after Cait's engagement party. There are too many memories of her alcoholic mother haunting her in Silver Island, and Deirdra is eager to get back to her climb up the corporate ladder.

Jagger was a good friend of Deirdra's mother as someone who spent his summers in Silver Island working as a cook at her family's bistro. He and his dog Dolly live life in an RV, freely traveling wherever the wind takes them, earning him the nickname "dirty hippie" from Deirdra.

This book was a definite "opposites attract" trope. At times, Deirdra was a very difficult character to like, but after more time with Jagger she becomes more empathetic and thoughtful. My favorite part of this book was Dolly the Dalmatian. I enjoyed the book, but it doesn't leave me. hankering to pick up any other books in this series. While it was good, it wasn't a standout for me among the thousands of romance books out there.

Finally! I have been waiting for Deirdre’s book and it was exactly as I thought it should be. Initially, I had to say I wasn’t a fan of hers but I believe that was intentional. Watching her grow and love (both familial love and romantic love) was a beautiful process and Jagger and Dolly were the perfect instigators. Jagger was wonderful- a hippie perhaps but so deep and complex and a perfect foil to get Deirdre to open up. As usual, Melissa Foster’s expansive world brings into play so many fun characters, a lovely escape to our current world. A beautiful, fun story.

Melissa Foster knows how to tell a good romantic story and the emotions she write of her characters are so pungent and raw that is impossible not to love it.
Deirdre is the middle sister of Cait and Abby (the previous books of the series) and she is the one who tried to isolate herself from her feelings through work. Jagger is someone Deirdre could not understand, living in a van without any ties but his dog. She had difficult of understanding and called him "hippie". Slowly and with much love Jagger managed to penetrate her invisible wall and the romance is so good and tender. They are meant to each other.
I loved the book!

The language of love doused with a healthy dose of heartache and a boatload of life lessons. Maybe We Won't is a sweet swan song to an unforgettable series. From new beginnings to happy endings, Silver Harbor knows it's way around a heart. Maybe We Won't may not be a charmer like, Maybe We Will or a heartbreaker like Maybe We Should, but it finds it's voice in the emotions it reveals. Deidra and Jagger are the sweetest kind of mismatch. Life has taught them some hard lessons. Through the pain each has found an undeniable strength, but it's the vulnerability that they rarely reveal that is the driving force behind their unpredictable connection. Foster strikes a soulful melody that leaves a haunting presence.

I am so excited to return to Silver Island. The location is breath taking but it was the people of the island I was looking forward to connecting with again. Deirdra de Messieres has returned home to lick her wounds and show her boss how much she is needed. She stays with her sister and her fiancé and when she escapes to the garage apartment, she realizes that Jagger Jones is also staying there, temporarily. I love the scene that Deirdra learns that Jagger is staying in the apartment. Expecting an empty room, she sure gets a HUGE surprise when she sees Jagger there.

Deirdra and Jagger are so opposite. Jagger with his hippie go with the flow lifestyle and Deirdra with her plan every minute lifestyle are as different as can be. Together Jagger and Deirdra balance each other out. I love the heat between the two of them. The chemistry is undeniable, and it is quickly obvious to everyone around them that they belong together, long term. I was just wondering how long it would take for Jagger to convince Deirdra that he was a keeper.

The three sisters in this series are wonderful. I have loved reading each of their books and love that each is a complete standalone story, yet the characters and settings are familiar in each book. Melissa Foster has a talent to write books full of heat, love, friends, and families. I always look forward to reading them.
