This fairy tale has been told time and again but never the whole truth of it. Rampant wolves and red capes and hapless nymphs in the woods, for sure. But never the true story. I’m telling the true story now, for my granddaughter and for her granddaughter thereafter. And believe me, there is no need for embellishments, because the truth is daring enough. Li’l Red might have been a hapless nymph and like most hapless nymphs all she really wanted was to get laid by a charming prince – or maybe a rugged woodsman – and live happily ever after. Maybe that’s the truth of it – or the root of it. One thing I can tell you is, no matter how magical the journey, Li’l Red always gets eaten in the end.
I’m a huge fan of fairytale retellings, and James Crow has managed to add a titillating twist to the traditional fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, and make it better. It’s a deliciously spicy and kinky spin on a classic unlike one you’ve ever read before. From the sensational storyline, the exciting twists, and the remarkable characters, I was spellbound from the first page until the last. An amazing 5 star read! Well done James, you smashed it!
Li'l Red is a fun fantastical ride into a whimsical world filled with wonder and awe. I freaking loved Grandma and wish I had one like her growing up. James Crow proves once again that he is a master story teller. I could not put this book down and I was captivated from the first sentence til the last. Ruby is a wonder, and she just may be my new shero. She's smart, sassy, beautiful, and takes no bs from anyone. I really enjoyed reading about her and her magical fairy friend. This is the best and most original retelling of Little Red Riding Hood that I've ever read. A definite 5 star read.
Once again this talented Author in his unique style has revamped a classic fairy tale. He’s transformed Little Red Riding Hood, added filthy twists and tweaks along the way, a good measure of Gothic Horror, crazy mind bending visuals but balanced with a huge side of genuine emotion and pathos. He’s the perfect chef, he takes the ingredients, mixes and adds and creates the ultimate dish which is fitting as ‘Li’l Red always gets eaten in the end!’ Five stars all the way from me
Li'l Red is a fairy-tale unlike no other. What happens in Grandma's woods, stays between Grams, Gramps, Li'l Red... and now us!
What do you get when you add crows, magic 'shrooms, fairies, and a enchanting mirror, to a girl and her red cape? The answer... you get a sensational twist that will keep you turning the pages!
Li'l Red was a journey that sucked me into a world of mesmerizing fantasy. I loved every word from start to finish.
If you're looking for a book that will give a new meaning to the word fairy-tale, then look no further, but... Be careful what you wish for and never ping the tea!
James Crow has once again showed me he knows how to take a classic and spin it Crow style with his wild and crazy... but genius imagination. Well done and BRAVO Master Crow! Six magical STARS!
I absolutely love fairytales and who better to write one then James Crow. But, don’t expect a classic version with some minor changes. He completely brings his extraordinary talent to create a one of a kind masterpiece. It’s twisted and brilliant and so deliciously dirty. I will never get enough of this juicy tale, with a magnificent Ruby, an awesome grandma, a cabin in the woods, snakes, wolves, a mirror, mushrooms, pinged tea, and of course lots of crows.
I can’t forget to mention the fairy’s, because they were awesome !! I really loved every part of this story. An absolute must read !!
This book will leave you a hot mess, wishing you had a cool grandmother who lives in a Enchanted cabin in the woods and feeds you special shroom tea. James has a knack for taking a fairytale and making it so much better. Loved this book well worth the 5 stars, couldn't put it down.
This is not your ordinary tale. James Crow has put a paranormal twist on the classic fairy tale, and boy did he deliver! This is a deliciously delightful coming of age story where we meet Ruby and with the guidance of her Grandmother embarks on such a remarkable journey of self discovery. Where things aren't always what they appear to be and venturing into the woods can reslut in the most exciting time! Well done James!
Another great read by James. He never surprised me in a good way. I love how he put a twist on Little Red Riding Hood. This has to one my top five reads by this author. It was so good I didn't want to put it down. This is a must read.
Grandmothers! Many of us have one. She bakes cookies, takes us to the theatre, buys us fun gifts, lets us eat cake and ice cream for breakfast. Do you have one of these? No? Me neither! Mine is better. She showed me the benefits of mushroom tea (microwaved only for special visions), which I learned at the age of six (a special number for Mr. Crow) when I ate a piece that she dropped on the floor (although I was not allowed the tea yet—six was much too young). On my sixth birthday, I followed the paper trail left by her and Gramps to her happy place where I found my birthday present, a beautiful red cape, and heard my name, Ruby, whispered through a blue-framed mirror, showing me apple trees heavily laden with its red fruit. A hissing snake slithered through the mirror wrapping itself around my thigh, causing me to scream bringing the ever-watchful crows to attack it until it released me and slid away. (Reference to a biblical theme that this author is so fond of injecting in his stories.) But after my 18th birthday, that blue-framed mirror became a part of my life, when I caught a glimpse of a wolf—Malc—who turned into a beautiful auburn-haired man giving me pain and pleasure with his loving as we experienced luscious and sizzling sex. But I have to earn him and his love through clues left for me by my Grandma, even after her death, with the help of my pink fairy, Minx.
Numbers continue to play an important role in this author’s books, six being the predominant one, the first perfect number, the sum of all factors: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6. Colours also, such as blue and lilac seem to be his favourite although red is introduced if only to follow the original Red Riding Hood fairy tale. And those clever and curious crows keep making their mysterious although helpful appearance.
Crow again takes a fairy tale and manipulates it into a bizarre and kinky world where love and pain go hand in hand. His steamy words explode off the page charming and captivating his readers. Words that are simple yet colourful help to create his characters and set his scenes. Effortless phrasing of his sentence structure works to give mood and meaning to his text.
But, we do not just close the book and say, 'Well Done, Mr. Crow.' No! This author always makes the reader think! ‘. . . we are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spirits having a human experience.’ Close the book and ponder that comment. He leaves us with much to think about especially in the troubled world we live in today.
What can I say about James Crow... This author pushes boundaries with his writing. His style is unique and dramatic. This is a twist to one of our childhood favorites Little Red Riding Hood...only James could give a filthy twist to our favorite li'l red...
Don't go in the woods- private keep out- trespassers will be fed to the wolves!!!!
This was the first swift shifter if I'm even saying that correctly story that I have read. We're a human transforms into an animal and vice versa. I have to say I was impressed. I never thought I'd read a story like this before. It takes us to li'l red AKA Ruby... Is she goes through her childhood into her adulthood turning 18 visiting her grandparents and the magic that transforms through her childhood going into the deep woods. With the experience of mushrooms, animals, the crows, and even the experience of meeting a fairy, and then her very own wolf. It's a dirty filthy little story about sex, love, and friendship. Will grandma get eaten at the end. Or will she get a filthy dirty?????.. well I can't tell you because then I'd be giving it away. Also does our li'l red find adventure in the deep woods, or does she find something magical that she never would have experienced if she didn't take that look through the mirror. I do have to say this book draws you in chapter by chapter. Get lost in the magic which is James Crow. I can tell you you won't be disappointed reading the story.
An epic take on one of my favourite fairy tales and all the mesmerising words had me enchanted throughout. Mr Crow’s legendary kink is woven perfectly in an exciting plot, which is entwined with messages that are powerfully thought-provoking. Fun is in abundance (I want my own Minx), hot & filthy scenes will set your knickers on fire and several light bulb moments will have you gasping in awe. 5 cawing stars!
Little Red Riding Hood is not one of my favorite fairytales, however this retelling is mesmerizing. Once again I was taken on a journey where mystery and fantasy meet to create a kinky world of escape. Grandma was my favorite character in this story….I knew there was a reason why I love mushrooms so much! Debauchery, magic, and lots of kinky fuckery make for a tantalizing spin on an old tale. James Crow has once again stretched my mind in the best way. I can always count on him to take me to a place where I want to dwell and use my imagination. The wait for this read was so worth it and his books never disappoint. It takes an open mind and a letting go of inhibitions to truly appreciate and enjoy a James Crow read. I hate for this journey to be over, but all good things eventually come to an end. Kudos for another 5 Star read that deserves 10 Stars.
I thought I would really enjoy this but found myself skimming the majority of the book. Lots of 'shrooms and sex that really was rather tame for masochist wannabee.
Another great red from James Crow. He’s transformed a classic fairytale into an erotic, filthy tale without giving to much away there’s a cabin with a magical wood. Grandma, Grandpa and of course Li’l Red who’s name is Ruby. My favourite character is Minx she’s funny and also naughty but in a fun way. This book is truly one of my top reads this year it’s well written with lots of detail you really think your in the woods and believe me you really do. Lots of surprises along the way Well done Mr Crow I loved this story
