Ava has always been different. Born with strong telepathic abilities, she lives a very isolated life until she is offered a job with an obscure network that aids powerful Immortal Guardians in their quest to protect humanity from the psychotic vampires who prey upon them. Suddenly, she doesn't feel so different. For the first time in her life, Ava has found a place where she belongs. She's happy. Life is good. And when her employers invite her to join a group of other gifted ones and a handful of Immortal Guardians on a journey to another planet, it becomes absolutely fantastic.
In no time at all, she is speeding across the galaxy aboard a Lasaran warship manned by two amazing alien races. It's the dream of a lifetime... until a vicious attack by a mutual enemy of Lasara and Earth lands her alone in an escape pod with no habitable planet in sight and only one ship within range: one that carries the enemy who wants to know why the bioengineered virus they released on Earth long ago didn't exterminate humanity and leave the planet ripe for their claiming.
Jak'ri doesn't know how long he has been a prisoner aboard the Cebaun, but he fears the enemy's twisted experiments will soon lead them to a virus that will eradicate the Purveli people. Despair grips him until a female from Earth is taken captive and reaches out to him telepathically. The gift that Ava said caused her such misery in the past soon becomes his salvation as the two of them form a fast friendship. Determined to distract each other from the horrors of their existence, they immerse themselves in telepathic communion during the day, then seek solace and adventure together in shared dreams. As their friendship deepens into love, the two hatch a daring plot to escape their captors. But the enemy will not let them go without a fight.
Can Ava and Jak'ri stand against so many and emerge victorious?

Duvall takes the gifted ones off planet in this series and I’ve been loving it. This story belongs to gifted-one, Ava, a strong telepathic who has been captured by the group who bio-engineered the virus released on Earth long ago. Despite the torture, she finds solace with another prisoner and his brother. Can they escape? Can they find happiness?
While this series is a spinoff of the Immortal Guardians, listeners will have no trouble picking this series up. I think this would work well enough as a standalone, but strongly recommend you begin with book one, The Larsaran.
A mortal enemy of the Larsara and Earth find Ava in her escape pod and bring her aboard their ship the Cebaun. When they discover she is human, they immediately begin (torturing) testing her. They want to discover why the virus they unleashed on Earth failed.
Jak’ri and his brother are also prisoners aboard the ship. They too are being experimented upon as their enemy tries to create a virus to wipe out the Purveli people. When an Earth woman is taken prisoner, who can reach out to him telepathically and share a dreamscape with him, he finds the will to live another day.
The tale that unfolds is dark, and things seem hopeless for Ava and the others. Their shared dream and communications offer an escape from their harsh reality and allowed a friendship and bond to form. I loved their moments together in the dreamscape and dreaded when testing took place.
Duvall had me emotionally connected to Ava & Jak’ri. I felt their pain and wished for them to escape. I admit I fretted, especially when Ava became ill.
The second part of the story was intense and fascinating as we explored an unknown planet. It also allowed our couple to take things beyond their dreams. Duvall has a wonderful imagination and the world she created was fascinating, as were the Purveli people. I love the Immortal Guardians and taking things off planet with gifted ones was brilliant. I cannot wait for the next audiobook.
Kristen Potter narrates, and I could listen to her all day. Her unique character voices to the way she expresses the characters’ emotions amped up the suspense. Her tone and pacing adds another layer to this brilliant storyline.
Fans of sci-fi romance, off planet adventure and suspense will delight in this newest installment. Duvall’s characters are rich, complex and likeable. Her world building and writing style whisk the listener away to new worlds. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
Well done! I appreciated the slow building love story and the alien world they find themselves on! It was interesing also because the hero was not a jerk, but he acknowledged the heroines capability and strength! She also was intelligent enough to understand when to stop pushing herself and to let the hero help her. It was a very nice read!
4 Stars But I almost stop listening to the audible edition because of all the descriptive torture that Ava, Jak'ri and Ziv'ri suffered during their imprisonment by the Gathendiens. Also, Jak'ri and Ziv'ri had scales, and gills like a fish!! Even for an Alien that was a bit over the top for me.
With all that aside after Ava who is a Gifted One and Jak'ri the Purvelian escape, the story picks up an moves very fast. A real page turner. I couldn't stop reading it. I felt like I was on another planet in outer space. I also, liked the results of all that torture that Ava endured. It changes her into and Immortal Guardian. Something I wish could have happen for Cliff in Cliff's Descent from the Immortal Guardians series.
Over all a Great Story and Kirsten Potter performed and Excellent Narration of the Purveli!!
I've struggled to get this far and simply don't care about the characters or their situation.
IMO, the book was a mashup between the first two Aldebarian Alliance books.
Ava and Jak'ri didn't make a good couple, I didn't care for them and the relationship and attraction didn't make sense considering the situation.
I've read several Dianne Duvall books in the past and enjoyed her writing style. The last few books I've read seem to be repetitive and the characters are becoming sickening sweet in their politeness and optimism. Too many character conversations contain apologies for stupid stuff. Characters can be tortured but they inwardly smile because tomorrow will be better. It's cringeworthy.
Dianne Duvall has talent but I think I'm done with her books. I simply don't enjoy them anymore. My reading tastes have changed.
This is Jak'ri and Ava’s story. (Ziv’ri as well) Excellent audiobook narrated by Kirsten Potter.
I really loved the first book, and this one was a close second. Half the story is dealing with descriptive alien torture so it was very hard to listen to. However, these two have such a wonderful relationship, it helped to know that there would be a positive ending. I love how they first meet in their dreams on Jak’ri’s home planet.
The best thing about this book was the not so insta love in previous books. It was a close thing though.
The story was interesting but there were flaws.
SPOILERS AHEAD
There was a sink with running water in their “bathroom”. If they thought their drink was being poisoned why not drink from there. And there should have been no reason for dehydration for same.
Also, they had only dreamed of people alive. Why first thought brother was dead. She explained later, but this thought had already been in my head too long not to write down.
Also, so long between books, I’d completely forgotten he was alive.
It was entertaining. This spin off isn’t grabbing me as much as the original but I’ll keep going.
As usual Dianne knocks it way out of the park! The story is wonderfully done, twists turns and of course some spice! As always cannot wait until the next book is out!
Again, I am delighted at this series. The story wraps you up in it, as if you are there in the thick of the action. Dianne Duvall is a gifted storyteller, she is one of those writers who you can’t put down. I can’t wait for the Alseki’s story to come out, cause it sounds like it’s going to be a fun read with another kickarse immortal heroine.
3 1/2 I want to bump this up but I cannot bring myself to do it. It is really good in parts but mainly it is good and stayed there. It was a good romance between the two but there were glaring plot flaws, and that we mainly only get Eva and Jak'ri with a little bitty bit of them interacting with the brother too. At the very end we get them interacting with the Segonians and Eliana which was fun but rushed. Really I rarely will read on into the next in the series but I did here and it was a better start than this one. I think when the couples are isolated for the majority of the book, plus they are tortured, fighting and in pain for this time also, doesn't make for the fun that we get when the crews of the ship interact, or when Seth, David and the house guest get together and have gatherings. We get some fun and interest, not torture, fighting and relying on one another while falling in love. Not really a great romance line.
The last book, The Segonian, was great even though there were only two place settings. She is trying to survive while floating in space and deals with the emotions there, the whole crew is hoping to save her but don't think it will happen, then she is on the ship integrating with the crew and falling in love with the captain and helping stop a infiltrator. Here we only get Eva and Jak'ri supporting each other through torture, then supporting through fighting and escape. There were interesting change ups which was engaging. But even this I had issue with, This just didn't add up. So I read over the inconsistency.
So with all the inconsistent plot points and the focus only being on the two without much engagement with other characters or other locations, it was kind of hard to feel completely satisfied with the story. This could have been told much better as a novella. Still it was good and I will definitely be going to the next.
Story 5 stars Narration 5 stars. Dianne Duvall Never Disappoints! This is a series with ties to her bestselling(and a favorite of mine)Immortal Guardians series. Science fiction like this is rarely my go to, but this series is the exception. When some immortal guardian and gifted women travel to the planet that Ami(from the Immortal Guardian series)originally comes from with the possibility of finding life mates, Ava,a gifted one, is on her way with the others. Their ship is attacked and she finds herself alone in an escape pod. Those that had attacked the ship, find her pod and cage her. She meets two brothers from still another planet who are also caged and are being experimented on as she ultimately is as well. One of them becomes very close to her. I’m sorry as I listened I don’t have any idea how to pronounce or spell his name.
Anyway, this is just the beginning of quite the adventure and race for freedom. I could barely stop listening as it was so well plotted and the characters were so fully fleshed out. Duvall does know how to tell an intricate story, one that will keep you on the edge of your seat at times. Her descriptions of one planet in particular including its nonhuman inhabitants was amazing. I could picture the whole thing. Same way with her details onboard spaceships. The romance was front and center of course, since this is paranormal romance after all and is very steamy but not over the top. I highly recommend this to adult romance readers. Fantastic read!
Great book. I liked both Ava and Jak'ri and enjoyed their story. They bonded over their shared hardships and strived to ease each others suffering during captivity. Their's was a very endearing romance. I just wish Ava had told Jak'ri that she needed blood to heal and stay healthy. Especially when she was getting weaker and weaker. Poor Jak'ri thought she was dying. Also, it was never addressed if Purveli blood was safe for Immortal guardians to consume so I was left wondering about it.
Loved the teaser at the end, for the next book. I can't wait for that one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
As per usual Dianne Duvall wraps your mind up into this fantastic world ( now WORLDS!). The Purveli gives you just a touch more of the overall story while deliciously focusing on what happens with Ava after…. Well if you know, you know! I couldn’t stop reading! The Purveli definitely did not disappoint! Can’t wait for the next book!
The previous book in this series was great but it actually covered a lot (all) of the storyline from the Purveli. Which made this read feel like a rehash and not a new book in the series. It was kinda boring and dragged. To the point I skipped pages regularly. If you've read the Segonian, you've pretty much read this book. I'd skip it.
I had an absolute blast reading this book. Of the three she has written about the Aldebarian Alliance, The Purveli blew me out of the water. I am incredibly excited to write this review. I want to shout loud and proud about how much I adored this book. Ms. Duvall has written a story that made me clap my hands in glee. It totally rocked.
A little background – bad aliens blew up the good alien’s ship prompting its passengers, Gifted Ones and Immortal Guardians alike, to hurry to escape pods. Unfortunately, the interstellar highway was damaged, and it spit the escape pods out and scattered them in outer space. Time is running out because those bad aliens, the Gathendiens, want those Earthlings so bad, they’re not giving up and are searching for them. In The Purveli, it proved what we knew from The Lasaran and the Segonian, those horrible lizard bad guys want to wipe out all human life on Earth and they need the Earthlings to do experiments on to find out why they didn’t die out thousands of years ago when they should have. The Gathendiens are the ultimate bad guys and Ms. Duvall describes them in intricate detail for this novel. Now, readers have a clear picture of who the enemies are of our favorite characters from the Immortal Guardians series. They are nasty – they smell really bad too and they are really, really mean.
Now, let’s get to the good stuff, Ava and Jak’ri. Ava is a Gifted One and Jak’ri is a Purveli. I was thrilled with the author’s description of the hero. I adored what happens to his hair and I got the biggest kick out of Ava’s excitement at meeting Jak’ri for the first time and asking him a bazillion questions about his physical features that fascinated her. I mean, he’s an ALIEN. Right? I would have done the same thing. It’s really cool!
Usually, I’m not a fan of dream sequences but what Ms. Duvall did in this novel took that technique and made it her own. For a change, the meeting in dreams is crucial, important and absolutely integral to the plot. There’s a reason for its happening and fans of the Immortal Guardians will remember it well. During those dream sequences, I experienced laughter, joy, excitement and tears.
I also want to give credit to the narrator, Kirsten Potter. I listened to the book on audio, and I am pretty sure I’ve said this before in other reviews, but Ms. Potter is the bomb. Her narration, with its clearly defined character representation, vocal range, emotion and talent made this 5-star review blast to a Best Book rating.
Here’s where I get personal. When Jak’ri thought Ava was dying, I reacted. When I mean I reacted, my eldest son came running, “Mom! What’s wrong??” Oops. I had earphones on. I didn’t think I gasped that loud. Obviously, I did. I GASPED! Seriously, that scene – what a shocker! And boy o boy, fans of the series are in for some intense emotional feelings. I also cried. Not sniffled, not teared up – cried – needing tissues cried – with the scenes of Jak’ri and his brother. I was gutted. Later on, I found myself laughing hysterically, snickering, grinning and cheering. The scene when Jak’ri read Ava’s mind is priceless. The Purveli literally had my emotions running amok. It wasn’t just Ms. Potter’s narration; it was the quality of the plot, dialogue and writing talent that Ms. Duvall put into her story that made this novel such a powerful read.
I haven’t been this jazzed since Seth’s story.
I truly believe I could write a book about the book. Ms. Duvall’s imagination is on full display when she described the cute Leapers, and other flora and fauna of the alien world they escaped to, including the big kitty-like things. The description of the cave was cool and I thought the scene during the thunderstorm was adorable. The author made her alien world come to life in vivid detail. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The attraction between the hero and heroine is a slow sizzle until it finally sparked and they went up in delightful flames. There were a few fits and starts, but that’s what made their final coming together so satisfying.
The ending was awesome, perfectly wrapped up and joyous. However, in the audiobook version, Ms. Duvall added a treat. She shared what seems like the first chapter of the next book. Again, Ms. Potter is the narrator, thank goodness. As soon as it’s up for pre-order, I am going to grab it. Why? Because the beginning was AWESOME! I was listening to it in my car, and I just sat there. I didn’t drive. I couldn’t. I was too enthralled by what I was listening to. Oh, my Goodness! It’s going to be another great one. Talk about setting the hook! I’m so excited!
Run, don’t walk to get your own copy of The Purveli. I expect fans are going to be wowed like I am. I believe this could be read as a standalone, so new readers will be in for a treat too. I totally, completely and enthusiastically recommend this novel for sci-fi romance readers who like action, a hero and heroine who survive impossible odds and a story that sucks a person in because the writing is just that good.
Dianne Duvall creates so many unforgettable characters and such impressive world building. I simply can't get enough of her Immortal Guardians and now her Aldebarian Alliance.
Before the Larsaran Warship, the Kandovar, is destroyed while traveling in the ghov'rum (wormhole), Ava makes it to an escape pod. But somehow Ava ends up all alone in her pod and after the explosion Ava's pod is thrown far from any Alliance world or ship. She is drifting for weeks hoping for some kind of rescue but that rescue comes in the form of an enemy ship. The Gathendiens have found Ava and have brought her on their ship. She tries fighting them off but as simply a gifted one, she lacks the speed and skill of an Immortal Guardian, and is swiftly outnumbered by the Gathendiens.
Centuries ago, the Gathendiens released a virus on Earth in an attempt to kill of all the life forms and take over the planet and its riches for themselves without bothering with a messy battle. That virus is what created the vampires and Immortal Guardians. They attacked the Kandovar to get their hands on the Earthlings traveling to Lasara. Now they have Ava in their possession and they want to find out why their virus has failed to kill off the Earthlings as planned. Ava knows why their plan failed and what they will find once they start drawing her blood but there is nothing she can do to stop them from learning why gifted ones are different from the other humans on Earth.
Ava isn't the only one on the Gathendiens' ship being experimented on. Jak'ri and his brother Zev'ri were abducted from their planet Purvel. As is their usual plan, the Gathendiens are trying to create a virus to release on Purvel to do what it failed to do on Earth. They have been experimenting on the brothers for awhile. Jak'ri and Zev'ri have given up trying to escape the Gathendiens torture. Every time they tried, they failed and then the Gathendiens would use pain on the other sibling to punish them. They have even dosed the brothers with a drug to keep them from mentally communicating. Jak'ri's only escape from his pain are his dreams of his home world and spending time at his favorite spot on Runaka Point. What he isn't expecting as he falls into his favorite dream, is to find an Earth woman wandering around and waiting for him there.
As a gifted one, Ava has the ability to communicate telepathically, but as someone so young, she cannot control being pulled into someone else's dreams when she falls asleep. She is amazed to find herself on a lovely planet which is clearly not Earth when she remembers being in a prison cell. She is surprised to find out that she isn't the only prisoner aboard the ship. Being able to communicate with Jak'ri and his brother helps dampen Ava's fear and spending time with Jak'ri in his dreams keeps them both sane.
When they finally have a chance to escape, Jak'ri and Ava take it, but they know it won't be long before the Gathendians come looking for them and their only hope is that an ally will also hear their distress call and get to them first. They just have to survive long enough on the planet surface for someone to find them.
Dianne Duvall writes such great characters and we love Ava, Jak'ri and Zev'ri from the moment we meet them. That makes it all the worse while we have to watch them all being cut up, experimented on and tortured just like when Taelon was by the Earth scientists in The Lasaran. We do get a break from all the torture and pain while Ava and Jak'ri become close in their shared dream on Purvel. I also like that not all of the aliens we are meeting in this series are simply cookie-cutter humans from different planets. The Purvelis have slightly iridescent scales for skin and as they spend a lot of time in the water, they also have the use of gills and slight webbing on their hands and feet for swimming. While these differences aren't enough to make it an uncomfortably awkward interspecies romance, it is enough to show that "human" isn't the default of all planets.
Dianne uses the background of a scifi to create exciting new worlds for us to visit that have their own interesting and sometimes dangerous creatures. Not to say that the Immortal Guardian series is boring, because I am all in for more of those, but that involves normal, everyday Earth/vampire problems. This series allows a writer's imagination to go wild creating new situations to place her characters and really, almost anything goes.
I loved that we brought our beloved gifted ones and Immortal Guardians into this new world building so we blend the familiar with boundless new possibilities for new characters and new worlds to explore. I am having so much fun exploring the galaxy through Dianne's imaginative writing.
I am also enjoying listening to the audiobook presentation by Kirsten Potter. This is mostly because this is a spinoff series and unlike the Immortal Guardian series, I don't already have the characters and voices already fixed in my head.
The audiobook also contained Chapter One of Book 4. I have to say that I have heard authors complain that fans keeps harassing them for the next book as soon as a new book is release. Really, this isn't a bad problem to have. I also have to declare that they bring it upon themselves when they drop the next exciting chapter and leave you hanging for what will be many months. So it's like chumming the water and thinking the shark isn't going to jump out of the water at you. Silly authors. Write faster. We want more!
I enjoyed this, thought the writing was phenomenal, the story heartbreaking, and the love a well fought for one. However, I got this without reading the blurb. I assumed it would likely contain flashbacks to show what happened to Ava to set up the connection between her and the love interest. I didn't realise we'd get the story we already knew happened placed into an entire book with no new content. I kept waiting for us to catch up and overtake book two. It never happened. So, there was no suspense, no worry for either of them (or his brother). It was such a weird choice to make for this book. It sort of felt redundant by the end. Which sucks because this was an awesome story and well written. I just already knew where they would end up and how. Audio was still fantastic!
No plot spoilers No real potential triggers although there is reference to torture. As ever, the characterisation is absolutely perfect. Real characters the reader is able to form a connection with. The plotline is a continuation from previous books and is so engaging I was unable to put it down until the end. There are some sex scenes and some swearing and some violence. I can't wait for the next book! Totally loving this series.

The Purveli de Dianne Duvall serie Aldebarian Alliance libro 3
Argumento:
¿Podrán Ava y Jak'ri enfrentarse a tantos y salir victoriosos?
Voy inmediatamente al siguiente libro, The Akseli. No estoy segura del pirata espacial copia de Jack Sparrow, veremos qué pasa con él...
The story is phenomenal and the narration is so good I fall for each character, waiting for them to kick as$ and take names. Each immortal guardian and every gifted one have had dynamic personalities that made me fear for them, root for them and live a bit vicariously through them. The narration is so upbeat and endearing and the combination made each book Dianne Duvall has written a true treasure. I'm hooked, fish, line and sinker! The steamy romance is tastefully written and doesn't take over the story. I can't wait for the next book.
I've loved this author for many years and have read all of her books, but this one just didn't do it for me. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and loved the second, but had a hard time like thing this one.
As I have said from book 1 of the series---This would make an AWESOME movie! SOmeone needs to get on that. The author spins such a creative universe with characters that are rich and bold and full of love. I can't wait to read more.
I do love to read series in order, so that is my recommendation for this one. Having said that, it has been a bit since I read book 2. I found myself thinking some of this was familiar. Everything finally clicked and I realized Ava's story overlaps the timeline of Eliana's book. But that is OK! We get to see things in Ava's eyes. I honestly was to the climax at the end of the book before I realized why the planet seemed so familiar.
This book takes us even more off world if you will. Such wonderful world building! Flora, fauna and wildlife that are other worldly. And for those who think they may not like alien relations, Jak'ri is very humanoid like. Just a bit different skin color--and gills. I loved that Ava and the Purveli all were telepathic. I loved when she decided she had had enough and they needed to bust out of their confines. And I really loved how Jak'ri just fell more in love with her each and every moment they were together.
My only blip on the book--and this was just me and my reading pace--Ava and Jak'ri are able to dream walk. All of those scenes are in italics as well as all their telepathy conversations. It took some getting used to for me. I understand why it was done and it didn't make me want to rate the book lower because of it. Just a heads up that there are lengthy scenes in the dream world.
Excellent series all around. You will want to check out the Immortal Guardians precursor to this spin off as well.

Another great hit! Perfectly filled with outer space!
Mention of The Segonian in Review!! The Purveli, book 3 in the Aldebarian Alliance Series is one of those books you will not want to put down! Space, aliens, battle, and kick-ass characters who make us readers fall in love with them; it's all thanks to the true Captain and author of the ship, Dianne Duvall. Might I say, this is one amazing creation Captain! Ava and Jak'ri's story is sweet, it's a lot of work, laughs, tears, and sticking together that keeps them strong even in the hardest of times. After reading book 1 and 2, I was excited to see just how Ms. Duvall would incorporate a unique styling of aliens into the main storyline. The Purveli was perfectly executed and more than I could ever imagined! This series needs to be a movie! Kirsten Potter is the narrator for many of Dianne Duvall's books, so we know in a sense that the characters will have their own unique tones and shapes to the words on the page. Ms. Potter takes a 2D creative process, adds a dash of her special narrating magic, then gives us Listeners an adventure we all will enjoy in her rendition of this story. Brava by all! I'm off to get lost in this story yet again! See ya! -Just finished a 2nd listen to The Purveli and enjoyed Ava and Jak'ri's story immensely! We knew from their interactions in The Segonian they grew close to one another, but the question of "what happened", how Ziv'ri was connected to them, and how things would play out whilst Eliana searched for Ava and the others. This story tells us of two battered souls, beat down by a common enemy, facing life and death, finding an escape through it all, together. These characters are genuine and highly motivated in their quest to survive, to protect, to love. That's what a love story is all about. Well done Dianne Duvall ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars!
Dianne Duvall delivers with another exciting love story of gifted one, Ava, and Purvelian, Jak'ri. This book can be a stand-alone, but to enrich your senses, you should start with the Immortal Guardians series. I encourage you to read the books; you will not regret it. The Purveli is a Sci-fi/ Paranormal drama, set in deep space, where the universal enemy captures Ava, Jak'ri, and Jak'ri's brother Ziv'ri. This story grips your emotions, pulling you into its depths, making you feel the heartache, stuggles, and hope. The love story of Ava and Jak'ri, both who under imprisoned circumstance, discover one another and develop a sweet friendship that evolves into more-and kept me rooting for their happy ending. Dianne creates a new universe with the Aldebarian Alliance series, providing stunning imagery, edgy adventure and fight scenes that will make this one a page-turner. I will count the days, hours, and seconds until the next book comes out.

Ava is a gifted one with telepathic abilities. Recruited by the network to help the Immortal Guardians she finally is free to be herself without fear of people thinking she’s crazy, or worse, being seized by asshats determined to subject her to tests to see how she ticks. Screw that. Pretty easy choice, right? So Ava is happily enjoying life and then the leader of the Immortal Guardians asks her if she wants to travel to another planet and possibly help an alien race repopulate. Completely her own choice on the procreating part. No forced impregnation shenanigans will be going on (that’s a totally different kind of book). Ava jumps at the chance to 1. Travel in outer space 2. Meet aliens 3. Possibly find love. So she and 9 other gifted ones and 5 female Immortal Guardians head out into the final frontier (if you don’t count deep deep deep oceans here on Earth). What’s to hate? Holy shit. Ava’s about to find out what there is to hate. But will her new circumstance mean giving up on finding love?
Wow. Who would have thought that a book containing capture, torture, and medical experimentation, is actually a love story? Because it is. A love story, that is. It’s also going to make you cringe. Yikes and ouch! Beware the triggers before reading.
The description of space battle, alien planets, and ships are so vivid I can imagine myself walking the foreign terrain. Ava and Jak’ri (and his brother Ziv’ri) are characters I can fully invest in. All the characters in this series are that way, thank the Book Gods. This book will overlap with The Segonian in a few places and it’s wonderful to see Eliana again but from Ava’s perspective.
This is yet another awesome book in the Immortal Guardians Universe that now contains the Aldebarian Alliance. It has the same kickass characters, snappy dialogue, humor, action, romance, steamy hot goodness, and attention to detail that I’ve come to expect from Dianne Duvall. A most excellent read! I’m very much looking forward to the next book and all the others I’m sure will come for the those who were scattered during the attack on the Lasaran warship. I cannot wait to read about their adventures and the loves they will surely find.
Things are going good for Ava, heading to her new life when all a sudden things turn bad for her. I can't imagine having to run for my life in an escape pod with no one around me, nightmare city for sure! Ava does the best she can and it seems like she found a safe place to land when she meets Jak'ri, but soon they find out all is not what it seems and both of them are captured by the enemy and being experimented on. It's a living hell for them.
They manage to escape, where then they have some good times, but they know they are being hunted and the enemy manages to find them, causing them to run again. Once they are found, it changes everything because those they thought they lost are the ones to find them. So much relief for this, now they can live their HEA together.

This story let’s us know what happened to Ava and how she found her life mate. It’s a good read although some shenanigans in the lab I could have done without. The narration for the audible version was outstanding, as always. I will enjoy the audible story many times. To enjoy this story even more, read the Segonian and Broken Dawn first. Don’t worry, the stories are equally good and those will simply give you background on the characters so you can fully enjoy this one. This one can easily be a standalone too. Enjoy. No cheating, no cliffhanger (except the ongoing search for more stranded earthlings). HEA.
Whelp, as expected this one was a dozy of a read with all the feels. The non-dreaming captivity scenes were rough, so I'm grateful we already knew how things would mostly turn out for the main characters due to The Segonian. I say mostly because here we actually get the details underlying Ava and Jak'ri's escape, which was epic and so fitting.
