I had the opportunity to be there for him, the same way he had always been there for me.
Alani Felix, an accountant and workaholic, desperately needs a vacation. Unexpected time off comes her way and what better way to spend it than with her best friend on a beautiful island?
Eagan King is a romance author who has lost his juice. Although he is surrounded by a support system, he can’t seem to kick the funk he’s in. A trip to St. Croix seems to be just what the doctor ordered to clear his mind and possibly give way to inspiration.
Things seem to unfold rapidly, but what happens when a setback threatens to wipe away the hope of new discoveries? When the burden of keeping everything together becomes too much, will Alani and Eagan be able to bounce back? Or has too much damage to the heart already been done?
The friendship between Eagan and Alani, and how they showed up for each other and supported was everything! They knew each other so well, it was like they were already a couple without the intimacy. That damn Carlin! I wanted to slap her for treating Eagan the way she did! I loved how both sets of parents supported Eagan and Alani's friendship, but wanted to make sure Eagan was completed healed before pursuing Alani. So glad that you took the time to shed light on depression and therapy. Sometimes it takes a village, and Eagan needed the support of his family, Alani and his therapist for healing. Great read! 👍👍👍
This was a great play on a familiar trope! King and Alani were childhood friends who gave each other the space to grow as adults. They were always open and honest with each other and had built a wonderful friendship over the years that proved to be the foundation they needed when their friendship evolved. I can just imagine how happy their families were when Alani and King finally saw what they had been witnessing for years.
Erika B., thank you for showing the vulnerability of a strong Black man and highlighting the decreasing stigma of therapy. As people we can be strong, have support systems, and faith but it is okay to have a therapist too!
Ms. Erika you are making some serious strides in this literary game. I am here for them all. I love when I can see the growth in a new author with each release. Ms. Erika you executed the plot, storyline, climax, and characters quite well. The bouts of depression and drama were smoothly transitioned throughout the book.
King and Alani deserved their happily ever after. King went through more than enough with his ex-wife. It is amazing at what some women deem as a good or strong man. Carlin was so far off the mark about King. King was the bae every woman desires, especially how protective he was over Alani. I still say the best relationship starts with a strong friendship. Alani was just that, the best friend, that King needed in his life. She really stood beside him through thick and thin.
This is a great read, grab a copy, download it and enjoy. You will yearn for a little more a couple of chapters or three.
What’s not to love about Eagan and Alani. Carlin wouldn’t recognize a good thing if it slapped her in her face, sometimes dysfunctional people just can’t operate with a sense of normalcy and be happy. I loved the dynamics of their close families and how they all wanted to ensure Eagan was operating from a good place. Support through hard times can make all the difference in the outcome and Alani put action to words and showed up even when words were harshly spoken. We all need family and friends like this.
Can someone please answer that question? Eagan King was a writer, and Alani was a financial something. They were two creatives who meshed well together. His pending divorce had him stuck. Alani needed a vacation. The two friends would travel down a road with no thoughts of turning back. The two were stronger together. But why did he call her white girl all the time? Too cute... I loved their story.
I really enjoyed the love story between Eagan and Alani. Even though I enjoyed the way their relationship evolved. It was the friendship for me. I loved how they showed up for each other. I also appreciated the story of Eagan dealing with mental health issues . Mental health and black men is something that isn’t explored enough. Erica’s storytelling becomes stronger with every book! I can’t wait for the next story!
Oh My Goodness friends to lovers are one of my favorite genres. Alani and Eagan had been friends since middle school. They knew everything about each other. Alani was there for Eagan when his wife walked out on their marriage and Eagan ended up in a dark place. Kudos to the author 👏👏👏 editing was awesome. I love good editing😁😁😁
This was a really good read. I loved the way Alani was always showing King how loyal she was to him and I love their love language. The story was right to the point which I liked and I didn’t have to read 3 to 4 chapters for the good stuff to happen.
I love a good friends to lovers story and this one did not disappoint. Alani and Eagan were perfect for each other. I was glad that he realized he had to work on himself before fully pursuing a relationship with her.
I loved everything about this story from beginning to end. The way she stood by his side through his depression. Iove the scene when she went to his house clean and the shower part ❤❤😍😍 and omg the scene when she tells him she expecting was 😍😍😍😍 loved it
This the type of story that have you showing all your emotions. I wanted to fight Carlin stupid behind. Then I cried and was excited about the union of the two. I was scared when Ms. Thang showed up pregnant, but most of all I was elated at the end. Another great read.
I really enjoyed the journey of the life the couple endured. I'm glad the author showed how some women can not accept a good man and how therapy is good for men without them seeing it as a weakness.
This was a beautiful story of friendship and true love.
From the beginning to the end, this was a great book I enjoyed the way the best friends ended up together, the way she stood by his side while he was going through his trials that is what friends do for each other.
Erika B this book was an Excellent Read. I loved Alani and Eagan friendship that turned into a beautiful relationship with true love 💕 and respect. This book was truly beautiful written. I am most definitely recommending this book.
Omg this story was sweet and loving and showed how loyal your supposed to be. How men need help to without feeling weak I definitely enjoyed this read.
This was a really good read. This book kept me interested all along the way. Some may say cliche to how it all went but me I’m just sappy and loved every minute.
I am such a hopeless romantic. I love the thought of love and everything surrounding it. This book had me smiling, laughing, crying and jumping for joy. 5 stars
