This is one of the best books I have read on the subject, covering in a very concise manner and also in enough details all the topics related to fossil fuel production - i.e., petroleum geology, reservoir engineering, drilling engineering as well as the economics of a hydrocarbon field development. I have not found another book which is a complete course in itself. If you are looking for only one book on the subject, then I would highly recommend this book. I think I will read this again in a few years, as it is a very enjoyable read as well.

A really good introductory book to the petroleum industry, covers the field life from access to abandonment, recommended to petroleum engineering and geoscience students, and newcomers to the petroleum industry.
